“Our brief was for something a little bit outside the box, and when we talk outside the box, that means not putting beige on beige—a lot of yachts play very safe by just being white and beige with a little bit of wood for accent, but SilverYachts wanted to spice it up a bit,” Tillberg’s partner and yacht director Daniel Nerhagen said in a statement. “So we went for some really strong and vibrant colors to stand out from the crowd and to offer something a little bit different.”

The studio carefully selected the accent colors so that they would stand out in the areas where the cat is set to cruise. (As the Caribbean and Mediterranean are rich in sunlight, the colors needed to be much bolder.) Cleverly, the brighter hues are reserved for furniture, artwork, and so on, which means pieces can be swapped out if they’re too loud for the owner. Speaking of the furniture, Nerhagen says that some of Øino’s shapes from the exterior are reflected in the interior. The dining table and chairs, for instance, mirror the exterior lines. Using the same design language indoors and out helps to connect all the decks.

The open-plan interior includes accommodation for up to 10 guests, as well as a sprawling main salon with wraparound windows, a formal dining space, and a lounge. The exterior decks, meanwhile, are home to multiple alfresco dining areas, plush lounges, and a fire pit.

• Atlantic 72

The gorgeous new A72 Skylark launched in Bristol, RI in mid October, 2018.  She was built by the talented, hardworking and dedicated crew of Aquidneck Custom Composites . It was a memorable day which included trailering the 72' long and 32' wide beauty through the streets of Bristol in pre dawn hours.  With the cooperation of town officials, encouragment from Rhode Island's Governor Gina Raimondo, and the careful work of the skilled crew from Brownell Transport in Mattapoisett, MA with their purpose built large boat trailer, all went well. 

Skylark then departed Newport on a frigid November morning for the warmer waters of the Caribbean.  She will winter there, with her professional crew hosting the owners and also charter guests.   

The all new Atlantic 72 can carry you worldwide on voyages that most will only dream of.   - And like all Atlantic Cats, she’s designed to be easily and safely handled by a small crew.

There are 4 double cabins for family and guests, plus dedicated crew quarters, each with ensuite head. Living spaces are comfortable and spacious in the pilot house and covered aft deck. The galley was designed with assistance from an experienced marine chef and includes spacious cold storage, professional appliances and ample counter space. On deck and forepeak storage can accommodate the owner’s choice of cruising accessories, such as paddleboards, kayaks, kiteboards or scuba gear. The first A72 is being designed and built to the requirements of a current Atlantic 57 owner and his professional crew. She will used for cruising with family and friends in far flung locales. Term charter will be available between owner visits. 

COMFORTABLE High underwing clearance and a soft-riding hull form eliminates pounding. The interior is optimized for cruising comfort both underway and at anchor. Ample living areas forward and aft, excellent ventilation a protected watch-keeping station, a gourmet galley and dedicated work spaces will all contribute to cruising joy.

FAST Atlantic Catamarans deliver true high performance and are among the fastest cruising yachts. Windward performance is exceptional; they point high and tack easily. A powerful yet easy to handle sailplan, efficient underwater foils and slender easily driven hulls combine to produce fantastic daily averages.

SAFE All Atlantic Catamaran designs incorporate a secure, full visibility cockpit set up for shorthanded sailing AND a fully enclosed pilothouse steering station. They were the first catamarans to offer this exceptional cockpit configuration. All Atlantic Cats are unsinkable and incorporate multiple watertight hull divisions.

SUPERBLY BUILT The builder of the first A72 is Aquidneck Custom Composites, Inc of Bristol, Rhode Island. ACC has deep experience with high quality custom yacht construction, including 3 Atlantic 57s. The 100% Carbon Fiber/Epoxy Resin construction utilizes extra thick foam cores for strength and insulation. Robust uni-directional carbon fiber reinforcing laminates in all critical high load areas increase strength and stiffness for superior longevity. The owner’s choice of varnished wood interior on lightweight honeycomb panels provides true yacht quality at low weight. Electronic and mechanical systems are carefully selected and installed for trouble free operation.

La marque finnoise Ocean Quality Systems vient de lancer un tout nouveau catamaran de 72 pieds. Au programme, la grande croisière en mode grand standing à bord d’un multicoque très rapide tout en restant gérable par un équipage réduit et sûr quelles que soient les conditions météo. Autre préoccupation du constructeur : offrir un catamaran qui ne rejette pas trop de C02 dans l’environnement et le plus silencieux possible. Nous avons pu essayer, les premiers, ce prestigieux multicoque dans le golfe de Botnie, à quelques dizaines de milles du cercle polaire…

Lieu : Jakobstad, Finlande Conditions : 7 à 18 nœuds de vent, mer peu agitée

En 2015, nous avions été séduits par l’Ocean Explorer 60 (essai complet dans MM n°170). Ce croiseur hauturier de luxe, rapide et sécurisant, était aussi séduisant qu’innovant. Pour un premier catamaran de la jeune marque, il frisait la totale réussite et affichait une qualité de construction exceptionnelle. Depuis notre essai, l’OE60 #1 a parcouru plus de 60 000 milles et deux autres exemplaires sont sortis du chantier. Six ans plus tard, quand s’est présentée l’occasion de découvrir son grand frère tout juste mis à l’eau par OQS à Jakobstad, en Finlande, nous n’avons pas hésité un instant à poser notre sac à bord. Avec ce modèle, mûrement réfléchi, la marque entend entériner son positionnement semi-custom très haut de gamme, similaire à ce qui se fait chez Nautor Swan.
