24th Edition of Benetti Yachtmaster 2024

Benetti Yachtmaster 2024 was two days of sharing, listening and dialogue with industry professionals, dedicated to exploring the customer journey and the Benetti lifestyle starting from the central role of the captain in establishing a lasting relationship between the owner and the shipyard.

The 24th Yachtmaster organized by Benetti in Budapest from the 21st to the 23rd of February involving over 300 guests from all over the world, was a great success with the participation of captains, owner representatives, surveyors, stewardesses, and industry professionals. Modern owners experience the purchase of a yacht as the maximum expression of their lifestyle. Today, the new concept of lifestyle on board involves renewed purpose and layout for the spaces, increasingly informal and convivial, capable of blending into the surrounding nature.

The deck extends over the water and the landscape integrates the furnishings through the large windows of the new Voyager yachts by Benetti. The growth of the yacht market is also evidence of this, perfect for those seeking adventure, and not just the most exclusive places. If the yacht is the object through which a lifestyle is expressed, certainly the captain and his crew are the human component that strongly influences the owners’ on-board experience.

It is from these considerations that the program for the 2024 edition of the Benetti Yachtmaster was born, introduced by the CEO of Azimut|Benetti Group Marco Valle, who welcomed the guests and emphasized the crucial role of the captains and their skills in building the yachts of the future. Then, Massimiliano Casoni – General Manager of Benetti – underlined how at the centre of the brand’s success is the product on the one hand and the customer and assistance on the other, which the Shipyard is able to guarantee wherever the yacht is located. The aim of the Shipyard is to offer personalized and easily accessible services dedicated to the owner and the crew; furthermore, each Benetti yacht will have a service manager as a point of reference for any type of assistance.

Sebastiano Fanizza – Benetti’s Chief Commercial Officer – and Alessia Farci – Customer Experience Manager – presented the evolution of the owners’ concepts of Luxury and Lifestyle, which point to an increasingly personalized experience on board, ensuring that the Yacht represents a unicum with the surrounding nature for a unique and borderless experience. Following this, the theme of the Benetti Lifestyle and the important role of the captains was explored to create a product that perfectly reflects the owner’s expectations. Captains can support the shipyard in understanding the customer’s needs in the various phases of the Customer Journey. From the first meeting, a relationship of trust and knowledge is established. This relationship gives life to the project for each new vessel, and it remains vital through the construction of the yacht, extending beyond delivery to guarantee a continuous experience for the captain, the customer and the other stakeholders.

Next, Sebastiano Vida – Benetti Head of Product – examined how different lifestyles directly impact the design of yachts: the customers begin to share their desires from the first meeting and consequently the first sketches for a new project are born. It is also true that the ability to promote new design concepts that are linked to a new onboard lifestyle can influence the modern owner’s decision to purchase. An exceptional example is the Oasis Deck® concept, where the study conducted to expand the percentage of spaces outdoors contributed to the success of the Oasis line. Marking the pinnacle of this trend’s evolution will be the new Veranda Deck®, a true reinterpretation of the main deck lounge, characterized by internal and external spaces connected without limits.

Just as design influences the lifestyle on board, functional aspects such as more efficient on-board systems and greater sensitivity to the environment also receive attention from the Shipyard to improve quality of life for the owner and crew. Ample space was dedicated to Benetti’s green path with the presentation of the most recent technologies introduced to reduce environmental impact: from energy management to energy saving, from technologies for reducing fuel consumption to HVO, the alternative biofuel that allows the reduction of well-to-wake CO2 emissions by up to 80%. Moreover, the system for drinking water on board avoids the use of plastic bottles and increases storage by reducing waste.

Anders Kurtén – CEO of Fraser, the longest serving full-service luxury yacht specialist in the world today with over 75 years of multi-award-winning excellence – took stock of how owners have changed in recent years, and which features are the most requested on new yachts. Among them, greater spaces for wellbeing on board and highly specialized and competent crews stood out. Caterina Oliviero and Alvise Tositti – Chief Commercial and Chief Strategy Officers of Acquera, a leading agency in the yachting sector – presented the new web platform to facilitate the captains’ “operations” on board from a technical-operational and recreational point of view. This tool will be an onboard experience game-changer.

Gianni Paladino – Commercial Director of Lusben – presented the refit yard Lusben, a Division of the Azimut|Benetti Group, underlining the integrated maintenance and refit approach as a fundamental contribution to maintaining the value of a yacht throughout its life cycle. Furthermore, Paladino outlined the investment projects already underway to enhance the three sites of Varazze, Viareggio and Livorno and to improve the environmental efficiency and sustainability of the construction activity. He also announced that Lusben is an active member of ICOMIA with the aim to set sustainability standards for refit yards around the world.

On the second day of the event, there was no shortage of training sessions and networking. After a morning dedicated to an exciting team building mission to discover one of the most important collections of paintings in the world at the Museum of Fine Arts, the LH (Luxury Hospitality) company held a workshop on leadership culture for captains and crew members to set a path for professional development and the achievement of collaborative goals within a work group such as a crew. At the end of the day, the guests, cruising on the Bel Danube for the “Moonlight Wonders” Gala dinner, admired the beauty of Budapest in its evening guise.

Special thanks to the partners and sponsors for their contribution, which was fundamental to the realization and success of the event. GIGA partners: Acquera, Awlgrip, Kongsberg, Lusben, Viraver, Volvo Penta. MEGA partners: Asea, Boero, DYT, Fraser, Jotun, MTU, Rina Maxima, Saim Marine, Sanseverino, Sevenstar Yacht Transport, Slam, Telemar Yachting. CLASS partners: Aseanautica, Bluewater, CGT, CMC Marine, Firefly, Mimetika, Naiad Dynamics, Fincantieri NexTech, Quantum, Versilia Supply Service, Termodinamica, Videoworks, ZF.

The Benetti Yachtmaster will be repeated on the 28th and 29th of February in Key West, confirming its great success overseas as well.

Benetti Yachtmaster 2024: focus on lifestyle, sustainability and the role of the captain on board

benetti yacht master 2024

The Benetti Yachtmaster 2024, held February 21-23 in Budapest, saw an extraordinary turnout of more than 300 participants from around the world, including captains, shipowner representatives, surveyors, hostesses, and industry professionals.

The event was held in an atmosphere of great enthusiasm and involvement, with intensive working sessions and informal networking moments that allowed industry experts to share their experiences and visions for the future of luxury yachting.

Lifestyle and Design: a new paradigm for luxury yachting

Purchasing a yacht today represents a lifestyle statement for owners. This translates on board to more informal and convivial use of spaces, which are harmoniously integrated with their surroundings through the innovative architectural solutions of Benetti’s Voyager Yachts. The shipyard also highlighted the growing interest in yachts suitable for adventure, emphasizing how the relationship between owner and crew plays a key role in the onboard experience.

In this context, the role of the captain and crew becomes crucial. In addition to managing the day-to-day operations of the yacht, they are responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere and ensuring impeccable service to guests. The ability to understand and meet the needs of owners is essential to ensuring an unforgettable on-board experience.

Benetti Yachtmaster 2024

The role of the captain

Azimut|Benetti Group CEO Marco Valle opened the event by emphasizing the importance of the captain’s role in establishing a relationship of trust and cooperation with the shipyard. The focus was on the personalization of services offered to owners and the constant assistance guaranteed, with the introduction of a dedicated service manager for each Benetti yacht.

During the Yachtmaster, workshops and interactive sessions were held to explore the role of the captain in the owner’s experience. They discussed how the captain can actively contribute to the design and construction of the yacht, providing valuable feedback and suggestions to the shipyard.

The evolving concept of luxury on board

Sebastiano Fanizza, Benetti’s Chief Commercial Officer , and Alessia Farci, Customer Experience Manager, highlighted the evolving concept of luxury on board, which is increasingly personalized and integrated with its surroundings. The role of the captain in understanding the owner’s needs throughout the yacht design and construction process was also explored.

Modern yacht owners are not just looking for a luxury mode of transportation, but rather a tailored experience that reflects their tastes and interests. Benetti Shipyard is committed to meeting these needs through a customer-focused approach that puts the owner’s experience at the center.

Sustainability and innovation following the green path

During the Yachtmaster, ample space was devoted to technological innovation and environmental sustainability. Anders Kurtén, CEO of Fraser , discussed the new demands of shipowners in terms of wellness spaces on board and highly specialized crews. Benetti’s green path was then presented, focusing on the introduction of innovative technologies to reduce environmental impact, such as the use of alternative biofuels and energy-saving systems.

Environmental sustainability has become a central theme in the marine industry, with more and more shipowners seeking eco-friendly solutions to reduce the impact of their activities on the planet. The Benetti shipyard is committed to developing increasingly energy-efficient yachts and using eco-friendly materials and technologies in their construction.

Education and Networking

The second day of the event was dedicated to education and networking, with workshops on leadership and management of shipboard operations. Guests had the opportunity to participate in interactive sessions and share their experiences with colleagues and industry professionals.

Benetti’s Yachtmaster will be repeated in Key West on February 28 and 29 , confirming its great success overseas.

Big Features, Smaller Package: the Benetti B.Yond 37M

  • By Diane M. Byrne
  • June 9, 2023

Benetti B.Yond 37M

Space is usually the reason that owners step up to a larger superyacht—say, a length overall of 197 feet or more. On those yachts, there are easily enough staterooms to accommodate up to 10 family members and friends; there are several lounging areas inside and out, spread across a few decks; and there is enough room for a party or for privacy. Getting all this in a yacht of less than 500 gross tons, which typically caps around 164 feet long, is just not possible.

Paolo Vitelli, president of the Azimut-Benetti Group, was convinced there’s a way. Not only that, but he believed yachtsmen would like a semicustom series with a steel hull, long range, volume rivaling much bigger boats, and four decks. He was thinking in ways yachtsmen hadn’t seen: Steel alone is a radical departure from the norm in this size range. Four decks are unheard of too.

Benetti B.Yond 37M

He was right. The 121-foot Benetti B.Yond 37M landed about a dozen contracts before Hull No. 1, Goga , appeared at international yacht shows in 2022. As of January, the next available delivery date is in 2027.

Increasingly, yacht buyers are realizing that volume dictates how roomy a project will look and feel. To that end, the Benetti B.Yond 37M has a volume just shy of 400 gross tons. Strong-selling American- and European-built series yachts, even those that are 10 to 20 feet longer, are unable to rival that volume.

Of course, long-standing physical dimensions remain important. Each of the four decks aboard the new Benetti is a healthy length. This includes the partially sheltered sun deck, which is a full-fledged deck for up to 12 people. With a barbecue, a dining area, a seating area and pedestal observation chairs, Goga’s sun deck even has windows inset into the hardtop’s sides.

Benetti B.Yond 37M

Benetti further sidesteps convention with the yacht’s 28-foot beam and an anything-but-cookie-cutter general arrangement. As much as series builders and designers say clients can arrange rooms as they see fit, inevitably, they suggest that the staterooms go belowdecks while the salon and dining area sit on the main deck. Even for yachts with main-deck master staterooms, conventional layouts still dominate. By contrast, the standard configuration for the Benetti B.Yond 37M places four guest staterooms and the master on the main deck. The lower deck is entirely for seven or eight crewmembers and all service areas.

More surprisingly, though, Goga follows an alternate arrangement, which Vitelli personally selected, since he intended to cruise aboard (and did for a month with his family). The master stateroom is on the bridge deck, with sliding-glass doors to an alfresco dining and sunning area. In the forward main-deck space where the master otherwise would have been are two guest staterooms. Just abaft them, there’s a playroom. In the not-too-distant past, a dedicated rumpus room would have been unthinkable, especially aboard a yacht of Goga’s dimensions. Perhaps in a sign of the times, nine of the contracts signed so far include the playroom. Owners can also fashion the space as a media room.

Benetti B.Yond 37M

The B.Yond 37M also has an open-air toy “garage” four steps down from the main deck aft. The main deck has neither a traditional aft-deck leisure area nor sliding doors leading into a main salon; instead, the main lounge is one deck up, offering better views and freeing more deck space for toy stowage. If you’re wondering why the toys aren’t stowed below, in a garage, it’s because the yacht has a beach club with a sauna down there—once again providing owners and guests with leisure areas not found on comparable-length yachts. The toys launch to either side via fold-down bulkheads.

Finally, the bigger thinking extends to the propulsion package. Goga has a diesel-electric system with lithium-ion batteries created in collaboration with Siemens Energy, allowing four operational modes. Enhanced Comfort Mode is for low-speed coastal trips or nighttime cruising, with just the gensets and electric motors engaged. Extended Range Mode uses the main MANs powering the electric motors for full-speed, 14-knot trips. Eco Transfer Mode sees one MAN running solo, which Benetti says lets the yacht cruise up to 8,200 nautical miles at 9 knots. Eco Cruise Mode is a zero-emissions operation in which the battery pack’s capacity determines the potential range for short excursions.

Benetti B.Yond 37M

Based on an average yearly 1,000 hours of use, with 400 hours spent cruising and the rest at anchor, Benetti says the system reduces carbon-dioxide emissions by up to 24 percent and nitrous-oxide emissions by up to 85 percent.

With the Benetti B.Yond 37M, Vitelli really did prove that it’s possible to get much more in a smaller length overall.

Benetti B.Yond 37M

The Legacy of Stefano Righini

The Benetti B.Yond series is among the last projects designed by Stefano Righini, who died in October 2021. Righini’s pen strokes characterize the looks of nearly every Azimut and Benetti yacht currently afloat too. In total, approximately 6,000 of the brands’ yachts bear his signature.

Capable Compact Cruiser

With a reported range of 5,000 nautical miles at 10 knots, the B.Yond 37M encourages owners to cruise farther and stay independent of shore longer. The yacht has the capabilities of a larger, full-displacement build in a size that’s better for small coves and many more marinas.

Benetti B.Yond 37M

Because of the B.Yond 37M’s volume and deck arrangements, the crew gets more space for amenities and operations. They have a mess opposite the belowdecks galley, and a laundry area. They also have their own stairway, independent of the guests’ stairs, and a dumbwaiter connecting all decks.

Benetti celebrates the launch of M/Y Iryna 66m custom

Benetti celebrates the launch of M/Y Iryna 66m custom

  • Yacht industry

On July 19th at its Livorno shipyard, Benetti marked a new milestone with the launch of M/Y Iryna 66m custom, the first model in the B.Now 67 family. The owner renewed his confidence in the Shipyard by commissioning the construction of this vessel, eager to continue his evolution in the Benetti range, with the guarantee of superior construction and design quality. “We’re excited to announce the launch of the first yacht in the prestigious B.Now 67 collection. This event marks an extraordinary milestone for our Shipyard and our esteemed owner, to whom we are deeply grateful for his confidence in choosing again to work with us on this project. A special thank you goes to our outstanding design team and everyone who has worked so hard and with such passion on the creation of this magnificent vessel”, commented Benetti Sales Director Daniela Petrozzi. RWD are incredibly proud to see the latest and largest yacht launch in the B.Now series – the culmination of years of partnership creating beautiful yachts combining the best of Benetti and RWD. Graceful elegance, balanced proportions and full of Italian flare and dynamism results in a design that is unmistakably a Benetti”, Mark Gardmer, Head of Exterior Design, RWD. “We are proud to have successfully completed yet another purchase for our repeat client, acting as sales brokers. Our team collaborated closely with Benetti, creating perfect synergy that resulted in the construction of M/Y Iryna, built to the highest design and quality standards”, stated the Owner’s Representative Arcon Yachts. The exterior styling is by RWD, the renowned UK firm with which Benetti has worked successfully on the entire B.Now line. M/Y Iryna features the innovative Oasis Deck® concept, a solution that revolutionizes the aft cockpit concept, transforming the vertical barriers into an extension of the deck and offering more conviviality in contact with the sea, a built-in pool, and a 270-degree field of view in 190 square metres of surface area. The aft salon is a mix of sunlight and shade so that guests can enjoy the deck at any time of day, while the Social Design turns the entire deck into a spacious oasis of conviviality. The colouring of the hull and superstructure is personalized to point up the exterior styling with three different shades of grey. The boat is also characterized by extensive, mainly curved glazing that covers up to 70% of the overall vertical surface area. The almost entirely bespoke interiors were designed by Benetti’s Interior Design Department under the direction of Mariarosa Remedi. A crucial role in defining the spaces was played by the owner, who asked the Shipyard to create a setting to showcase the loose furniture produced by one of his favourite brands, Visionnaire. The spacious interiors are exquisitely clad in leather that hasn’t been treated with chemicals and, in the case of the Lower Deck, is custom designed for this boat. Prestige woods, such as curly maple wood and macassar ebony, cover the floors together with marble-effect ceramic tiling, chosen by the customer as a more ecological alternative to marble. With a steel hull, M/Y Iryna has six decks. From the top Observation Deck down to the Under Lower Deck, this vessel is extremely spacious both outdoors, with around 500 square metres of usable space, and indoors with a 65-square-metre Main Salon and a full-beam owner’s suite on the Upper Deck, made possible by moving the wheelhouse and captain’s cabin up to the next deck. With two VIP cabins on the Main Deck and four cabins on the Lower Deck, M/Y Iryna accommodates up to 15 guests. There are numerous wellness areas, including a sauna in the beach club and a gym on the Main Deck, both built at the owner’s request. This new boat will be delivered to her owner at the end of the summer in a new record for Benetti, which with the B.Now platform concept successfully completed the project in under three years from the first sketches on a blank sheet of paper.

Benetti Oasis 40M (New – 2024) Description

This new construction BENETTI OASIS 40M for sale and ready for delivery in May 2024, is a 134-foot (41m) displacement motor yacht with plumbing bow. The yacht has been specifically designed by Redman Whiteley Dixon on a GRP hull and superstructure with a triple deck arrangement plus sun deck, while her interior design is penned by Bonetti/Kozerski Architecture.

The yacht represents Italian excellence in shipbuilding, particularly from the Benetti shipyard. However, the Owner may have requested upgrades or modifications to the present specification or to the general arrangement and/or to the drawings. Some additional options can be added by the end-customer. Current optionals of around € 3 Million.

The BENETTI OASIS 40M is the evolution of Benetti DNA. The project reinterprets the use of internal and external spaces in a more contemporary forward-thinking way; to reconnect the Owner with the sea in a laid-back informal design concept.

The BENETTI OASIS 40M is a long-range yacht designed on a contemporary take on the use of indoor and outdoor spaces for an owner in search of a distinctly informal relationship with the sea. The word “oasis” comes from the idea of a dream becoming reality, an apt name for a yacht that brings the promise of relaxation and relief.

On July 19th at its Livorno shipyard, Benetti marked a new milestone with the launch of M/Y Iryna 66m custom, the first model in the B.Now 67 family. 15 Best Luxury Yacht Builders and Shipyards in the World

Published on july 21, 2024 at 5:37 pm by dragana randjelovic in news.

In this article we will list 15 best luxury yacht builders and shipyards in the world . You may be interested in searching for 15 Best Boat/Yacht Insurance Companies Heading into 2024 , too.

Luxury Yacht Builders Rebound Post-Pandemic

According to a study from the Italian Marine Industry Association and Deloitte , the global new build yachting market has reached €33 billion ($35.9 billion) during the industry boom in 2022. This marks an 11% increase from the year before, and a CAGR of 10% since 2014. Increasing prices, along with increasing demand from customers, has been responsible for this positive growth. According to the study, Europe and North America are the biggest consumer groups, taking up 70% of the total market share. Italy remains at the top in yacht building, generating €4.4 billion in yacht production value for 2022.

Despite the positive growth, superyacht sales have taken a dive in 2023, the new SuperYacht Times’ State of Yachting report indicates. Long wait times, rising costs, and the exclusion of Russian oligarchs from the superyacht market have all led to this decline. There were 203 superyacht sales in 2023, down from 245 in 2022, and from a record 313 in 2021. A buyer placing an order for a new yacht over 200 feet today has to wait three to four years owing to backlogs from the pandemic. Orders for yachts between 200 t0 600 feet have experienced the most decline, by 40%, largely since the rich buyers from Russia are dropping out of the market. Despite the drop in new sales, yacht completions have been up. According to SuperYacht Times, there are now nearly 6,000 super yachts, triple the number in 2022.

It wasn’t simple to make a list of the world’s best yacht builders and shipyards in the world, especially now when it seems that the superyacht business has regained its momentum. Following the pandemic’s upheaval, boat builders have resumed normal operations. There are now 173 small yacht manufacturers and large builders in 25 countries working on at least one yacht larger than 24m. Every year, around 400 boats larger than 24m are supplied to their owners by luxury yacht companies that specialize in yacht categories or product segments that distinguish them from other commercial shipyards. Experts believe that there are currently around 5,000 boats larger than 24 meters navigating the world’s oceans.

The Netherlands and Germany leads the yachting sector in terms of providing yachts larger than 50m with high volume and value. Some other yacht builders in the world include those in Turkey, Asia, North America, South Africa, Oceania, and Brazil. Turkish shipyards are now building motor and sailing yachts out of GRP and steel, North America has turned its focus on semi-custom motor yachts, Asia is known to be a hub for production series motor yachts made from GRP, while the top builder nation Italy excels in larger yachts and more customizable options.

When it comes to the US, United States Luxury Yacht Market  is  expected  to reach USD 4.45  billion  in 2024 and grow at a CAGR of 8.25% to reach USD 6.61  billion by 2029. On the list of yachth-related companies, Marine Max, Inc. (NYSE: HZO ) is a known name, with a $750 million market capitalization. The total enterprise value is $1.76 billion. The corporation is headquartered in Florida and employs an estimated 2,666 people. In the United States, the company has a significant market share in at least one area as a boat dealership and repair company, where they account for an estimated 6.4% of total industry sales. They are classified as an All-Star and one of the best luxury yacht brands because they have a higher market share, profit, and revenue growth than their competitors.

Methodology

To compile a list of the premier luxury yacht builders and shipyards globally, we undertook a comprehensive comparison of leading companies with those recognized for producing the most esteemed and high-value yachts. Our methodology involved cross-referencing top-rated yacht lists with data on their builders. By aggregating the frequency of mentions across lists such as IYC Yacht, YachtWorld, Elite Traveler, amongst others; we established a preliminary ranking. Subsequently, we assessed these companies based on the prominence of their yachts on industry-leading rankings and their annual revenue. This analysis revealed that the top-ranked companies distinguished themselves not only through frequent appearances on prestigious lists but also through exceptional performance across various metrics.

At Insider Monkey we are obsessed with the stocks that hedge funds pile into. The reason is simple: our research has shown that we can outperform the market by imitating the top stock picks of the best hedge funds. Our quarterly newsletter’s strategy selects 14 small-cap and large-cap stocks every quarter and has returned 275% since May 2014, beating its benchmark by 150 percentage points ( see the details here ).

This is how our list of the best luxury yacht builders and shipyards in the world looks like.

Princess Yachts was founded in 1965 in a modest industrial unit on Newport Street in Plymouth. Since then, Princess has become one of the top luxury yacht builders and shipyards in the world. South African businessman Graham J. Beck bought the company in 1981. In 2001, Marine Projects changed their name to Princess Yachts International PLC. Princess Yachts operates in 119 countries and employs over 3,200 people worldwide, with shipyards totaling over 1.1 million square feet.

14. Perini Navi

Perini Navi specializes in superior craftsmanship of some of the world’s largest super sailing yacht builders. Their constant growth in the design, engineering, and construction of aluminum superyachts has propelled them to the industry leader in the large, custom super sailing yacht sector. Fabio Perini started Perini Navi in 1983 in Viareggio, Italy. Unable to find a huge sailing yacht that he could run alone, Fabio founded a firm to build and engineer his own vessel, launching a prototype sailing yacht with plenty of living space that could be sailed with a smaller crew. In 2021 Perini Navi became a part of The Italian Sea Group which increased the portfolio in 2023 to six companies.

13. Delta Marine

In 1967, brothers Jack and Ivor Jones launched Delta Marine on Seattle’s Duwamish River. The shipyard initially focused on producing fishing boats that could withstand the frequently harsh waters of the Pacific Northwest and became one of the best small yacht brands. Delta Marine’s success in the fishing industry inspired the shipyard to create luxury expedition ships capable of transporting their customers north to Alaska, west to the Pacific islands, and around the globe. Delta Marine shifted their focus to custom superyachts in the 1990s.

12. Fincantieri Yachts

Fincantieri Yachts, an Italian shipyard and now one of the best luxury yacht builders and shipyards in the world, has been around since 1780. The first shipbuilding enterprise was founded in Castellammare di Stabia, and it served as the foundation for the world-renowned corporation. By the mid-twentieth century, the business had become part of the state-owned IRI and was in charge of the country’s primary shipbuilders; Fincantieri Yachts was established as a separate branch in 1984. The shipyard has established itself as a multifaceted entity. Fincantieri’s facilities are now building military ships, including submarines, passenger and industrial vessels, as well as a new market area, megayacht construction, which began in 2005.

11. Royal Huisman

Royal Huisman is a Dutch shipbuilding company that specializes in the new build, refit, rebuild, and renewal of sailing and motor yachts. The shipyard in Ronduite was founded in 1884 to produce wooden workboats and fishing boats. Jan Huisman began building steel sailing boats in 1954, and his son Wolter converted to aluminum hulls in 1964 with the 30 ft Van de Stadt Avenir series. In celebration of the shipyard’s 100th anniversary in 1984, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands bestowed the title “Royal” to Huisman, renaming the company Royal Huisman.

10. Sanlorenzo

Insider Monkey Score: 3

Sanlorenzo Shipyard has been producing high-quality motorboats since 1958. It is a yachting boutique enterprise that produces only a small number of custom yachts each year. Each boat is custom-designed and built to meet the owner’s exact needs, style, and preferences. The shipyard’s headquarters are located on the banks of the Magra River, within the Montemarcello-Magra Natural Reserve, near Ameglia, province of La Spezia, Liguria, Italy. Since its founding, the firm has manufactured just roughly 1000 ships, each one special and unique. Since 2005, the organization has adopted a fresh approach to personalization and innovation. As a result, the shipyard has expanded significantly. Over the last eight years, the company has gradually established itself in Boat International’s annual Global Order Book rating.

9. Blohm & Voss

The German shipyard Blohm+Voss was named after its founders, Hermann Blohm and Ernst Voss, who chose to join forces in 1877 to construct steel steamers. Hermann Blohm and Ernst Voss, the founders of the Blohm & Voss-Werft, rose to prominence far beyond Hamburg. Unfortunately, after several dismal seasons in the 2000s, the company discontinued creating new yachts. As part of Lürssen, the shipyard will no longer manufacture boats, but will continue and even increase its yacht refit, commercial, and military building activities. The firm is on this list because their boats are consistently on the list of the best boats, and three of their boats are among the best ever built.

Insider Monkey Score: 4

Heesen Yachts is one of the best luxury yacht builders and shipyards in the world, being a Dutch shipbuilding firm that specializes in custom-built superyachts. Founded in 1978, it has launched over 200 yachts, several of which have received prizes. It is recognized as a global leader in the design, construction, and engineering of all-aluminum boats. After a string of popular and pricey boats, 1988 proved to be the yard’s breakthrough year. American entrepreneur John Staluppi had commissioned the yard to build a superyacht capable of speeds exceeding 50 knots. Heesen expanded in 2003, the same year it introduced its 3700 and 4400 yacht series, which were among the first examples of superyacht building on a shared hull and engineering platform.

7. Abeking & Rasmussen

Abeking and Rasmussen is a luxury yacht constructor that specializes in big custom motor yachts constructed from steel. The company has previously built sailing boats, maritime vessels, and swath vessels. Georg Abeking and Henry Rasmussen formed the company in 1907. The business began producing navy warships such as torpedo boats, minesweepers, and submarine destroyers. Later, the firm began constructing speedboats and sailing yachts. The yard has a reputation for pioneering new technologies, having manufactured some of the world’s most technically advanced yachts. Many of the projects they have created are notable for overcoming technical engineering obstacles, such as Germania VI in 1963, the first sailing yacht with a welded aluminium hull, and the 1972 motor yacht Kalamoun, the world’s fastest at the time, hitting 46 knots. The Krupp Foundation still owns their latest yacht, Germania VI.

6. Ferretti

Norberto and Alessandro Ferretti, brothers from Bologna, Italy, expanded their family’s successful luxury auto business, which marketed Maserati and Lamborghini, by opening a yacht dealership in 1968. The Ferretti brothers initially marketed other boat builders, but during the Genoa Boat Show in 1971, they debuted their first yacht design, a 10-meter wooden motorsailer. Ferretti boats, the first member of the Ferretti Group of international luxury yacht brands, manufactures semi-custom composite boats in Forli, Italy, ranging in size from 16 to 29 meters. The Ferretti Yachts 960 type, introduced in 2013, is the largest planing luxury yacht ever built by any of the Ferretti Group shipyards. Ferretti Group is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange since 2022 and debuted on Euronext Milan, the Milan-based stock exchange owned by Borsa Italiana. In 2023, the company became the first and only company in the world to achieve dual listing in Asia and Europe which qualified the company for the list of the best luxury yacht builders and shipyards in the world.

iryna launched by benetti yacht

Iryna: first B.Now 67m superyacht launched by Benetti

Italian shipyard Benetti has launched the 66.2-metre custom superyacht Iryna in a formal ceremony attended by the owner – a repeat Benetti client – and his family. Iryna is the first model in the B.Now 67M series and marks the largest model in the B.Now series to date.

Exterior design is by long-standing collaborator RWD , who has worked along the entire B.Now line. The model is dominated by curved glazing, while this unit in particular features a custom hull and superstructure in three different shades of grey. Iryna also features Benetti's trademark Oasis Deck, which features a flat platform complete with two unfolding gunwales that form overwater balconies.

Other highlights include a pool and numerous wellness areas installed at the owner's request, including a sauna in the beach club and a gym on the main deck.

Accommodation is across seven cabins, including two VIP cabins on the main deck and a full-beam owner's suite on the upper deck. Iryna 's custom interiors were styled in house under the direction of Mariarosa Remedi and incorporate custom leather, macassar ebony and marble-effect ceramic tiling – chosen by the owner as a more ecological alternative to marble. The owner also requested that the living spaces feature one of his favourite furniture brands, Vissionaire.

"This event marks an extraordinary milestone for our shipyard and our esteemed owner, to whom we are deeply grateful for his confidence in choosing again to work with us on this project," said Benetti sales director Daniela Petrozzi. "A special thank you goes to our outstanding design team and everyone who has worked so hard and with such passion on the creation of this magnificent vessel."

Key numbers include a 11-metre beam, a draft of 2.95 metres and 500 square metres of usable space. Iryna will be delivered at the end of the summer in a "new record" for the shipyard, having completed the project in under three years.
