What is the Fantasmic! Dining Experience?
The Fantasmic! Dining Experience includes a meal at one of the participating Disney’s Hollywood Studios restaurants and reserved seating in the Fantasmic! amphitheater. As of this writing, only Hollywood Brown Derby , Mama Melrose and Hollywood & Vine are participating.
This means that instead of waiting in line for 60-90 minutes outside the theater, you can walk right up to the theater 30-45 minutes before show time (no waiting in a long line!) and still have a seat.
Is there a charge for the package?
Dining packages for The Hollywood Brown Derby and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano include one:
- Non-alcoholic beverage
- VIP seating voucher
The price for the package at Hollywood Brown Derby is $77 for adults; $31 for children (plus tax and gratuity)
The price for the package at Mama Melrose’s is $56 for adults; $23 for children (plus tax and gratuity)
At Hollywood & Vine, you can get the Fantasmic Dining Package as part of breakfast or as part of the special Minnie’s Seasonal Dining events. This character buffet features Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Daisy and Goofy.
- Breakfast – $59 for adults; $39 for children (plus tax and gratuity)
- Lunch/Dinner – $75 for adults; $49 for children (plus tax and gratuity)
The package, which includes the Fantasmic! seating pass, MUST be guaranteed at the time of booking with a credit card, and a $10 cancellation fee applies if not canceled at least 48 hours beforehand.
Report to your restaurant 10 minutes before your Fantasmic! Dining Experience Reservation. After your dining experience, you will receive Fantasmic! Dining Package VIP seating for that evening’s show. Theme park admission is NOT included.
Can I Use the Magic Your Way Dining Plan with the Fantasmic Dining Experience?
Yes, the Magic Your Way Dining Plan can be used to purchase a Fantasmic Dining Experience. You can also get the Fantasmic Dining Experience if you have the Magic Your Way Premium Package or the Platinum Package .
Hollywood & Vine and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano both count as one Table Service meal for the Dining Plan, while the Brown Derby counts as a Signature experience, or two Table Service meals.
When you make a reservation, your credit card number will be taken, but the charge won’t be put through (unless you are a no-show, or do not cancel at least 48 hours before your dining date). You will pay with your Magic Your Way Dining Plan when you dine, just as you would for any meal.
Do I have a reserved seat for Fantasmic!?
No, only the section itself is reserved for those with the Dining Experience. Within the reserved section, seating is on a first come-first served basis, so if you want your choice of seats, you should arrive early.
How do I book the Fantasmic! Dining Experience?
You can book the package now for dates up to 60 days in advance by calling 1-407-WDW-DINE, or online at disneyworld.com
What if I have already made reservations in advance at one of those restaurants for dinner?
That Advance Reservation is distinct from the Fantasmic! Dining Experience. If you want the Fantasmic! Dining Experience you need to book it specifically.
Where is the reserved section?
The reserved section is in the middle of the theater. The amphitheater is set up so that there really are no *bad* seats, except you will get wet if you sit in the first few rows.
Where do I enter the theater?
Your restaurant server will explain exactly where you can enter, but it will be on Sunset Boulevard (located near the Beauty and the Beast theater), about 20-30 minutes prior to the show.
How early do I have to get to the theater?
You must arrive 20-30 minutes before the show starts. There are enough packages available that the Reserved section gets fairly filled up, so if you want a better seat selection within the reserved section, plan to arrive more than 30 minutes before show time. Even though you still need to arrive early, you do NOT have to wait in line like those without reserved seating — you can just walk straight to the reserved section and sit down.
What if that night’s show is canceled?
According to the policies of the Fantasmic! Dining Experience, if the show is cancelled because of weather your pass is invalid, and you will NOT be issued a new one.
What if there are two shows scheduled for one night?
The Fantasmic! Dining Package is only available for the first show on evenings when two shows are scheduled to be performed.
Is it worth doing?
If you dislike waiting in line, or have little ones who can’t tolerate the waiting, the Fantasmic! Dining Experience is probably worth it. The reserved seating area affords a fine view of the show, which is very entertaining.

A Fantastic Guide to Fantasmic! at Disney World
With its flashy fountains and pyrotechnics, a star-studded cast of popular Disney characters, beloved music, and an action-packed story sure to have you on the edge of your seat, Fantasmic has long been a must for any Walt Disney World vacation. Sadly, due to the pandemic, the thrilling nighttime spectacular was forced out of commission for quite some time, taking a two-and-a-half-year pause.
However, following its Covid-19 hiatus, Sorcerer Mickey is finally back on the stage of the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater once more. Fantasmic is back at Disney World in Hollywood Studios , a nd we couldn’t be more excited!
Ready to see Mickey battle it out with the forces of good and evil on your next trip to Disney World? Keep reading for everything you need to know about watching Disney’s Fantasmic!, from how to get the best seats to which characters you’ll see.
Fantasmic, Hollywood Studios’ Epic Nightly Battle of Good vs. Evil
Premiering at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the Fall of 1998, more than six years after it first debuted at Disneyland , Fantasmic! has been a Walt Disney World favorite for over 24 years. More than just a fireworks show, this nighttime spectacular is a kaleidoscope of pyrotechnics, lasers, colorful water effects, well-known songs and much-loved Disney characters. A compelling combination, to be sure!
Starring Mickey Mouse, the show’s story takes guests through the mouse hole and into Mickey’s vivid imagination. However, what starts as a fairy tale soon turns into a nightmare, with Mickey duking it out with some of the most diabolical Disney Villains, like Aladdin ’s Jafar in the form of a glowing-eyed snake or Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty towering menacingly as a 40-foot-tall dragon. Will good triumph over evil? You’ll just have to watch and find out.
Where and when is Fantasmic at Disney World?
Fantasmic takes place down Sunset Boulevard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater, with at least one showing per night. Showtime is typically at either 8:00 PM or 9:00 PM on evenings with only one show, while twice-nightly performances are usually at 8:00 PM and 9:30 PM. Seating begins 90 minutes before showtime.
You’ll also want to keep in mind that due to the nature of Fantasmic’s open-air setting, showings may be cut short, postponed or canceled altogether in the event of inclement weather. For the most up-to-date information, refer to the My Disney Experience app .
With the addition of a heroic, all-new sequence following its November 2022 re-debut, the show runs for 29 minutes from beginning to end, a roughly two-to-three-minute increase over its previous, pre-COVID iteration. Whether it’s the only showing of the night or the last of the evening, the show often starts when Hollywood Studios closes for the night. So, plan your time accordingly.
Are reservations required for Fantasmic in Disney World?
You don’t need a reservation to see Fantasmic! at Disney World. That said, reserved seating can come in handy if you don’t want to waste time waiting in line or absolutely must have a more centered view, and can be booked with the Fantasmic Dining Package or possibly Disney Genie+ . We’ll have to see once the show opens in a few days.
What characters are in Disney World’s Fantasmic?
Longstanding favorites in Fantasmic at Walt Disney World include characters from such popular animated films as Pocahontas , Aladdin , Sleeping Beauty , Fantasia , Beauty and the Beast , Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and The Little Mermaid .
Following the show’s post-pandemic makeover, Fantasmic fans are also sure to love a heroic sequence that lets guests “journey with our heroes,” with brand-new appearances by Disney characters from Moana , Mulan , Frozen 2 and more. All in all, it’s an excellent opportunity to cram a ton of character sightings into a very short period of time.
Best Places to Watch Fantasmic!
Disney World offers a day filled with immersive rides, exciting shows, loveable characters and all sorts of family-friendly fun. While you certainly should cap off at least two of your nights with showings of the Epcot and Magic Kingdom fireworks, we can’t imagine a more perfect finale to such a magical day than Fantasmic at Hollywood Studios.
Needless to say, you won’t want to miss it. But where are the best seats to watch Fantasmic? Well, you’re in luck. As the show is held in an outdoor amphitheater with bench seats curving around the lagoon towards the stage, there really isn’t a bad seat in the house.
Having said that, the closer you can get to the middle section (typically reserved for those with the Fantasmic dining package), the more centered your view will be. The far-outside sections, meanwhile, should be avoided at all costs, as you can miss the projections on the water screens, and the music can be out of sync during certain scenes.
You’ll also want to consider how close to the front you want to be – or not. Although sitting near the water will get you closer to the action, making it easier to snap photos of the show, being immersed in the show isn’t always a good thing, as you could get wet from the water screens or feel hot due to the closeness of the pyrotechnics. Not only will sitting at least halfway back protect you from the show-made elements, but it will also help you to take in the entire display all at once.
The only way to get reserved seating for Disney World’s Fantasmic is with a Fantasmic Dining Package or, though it hasn’t been confirmed yet, Disney Genie+. Can’t get a reservation? No worries – there’s also plenty of standby seating.
Fantasmic Standby Seating
You might think that standby seating at Fantasmic means settling for the worst views in the house. Luckily, that isn’t the case. In the past, standby seating was located in the four areas on the right-hand side of the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater. At close to half of the amphitheater’s six sections, there are abundant opportunities for a great view, even if you aren’t able to plan ahead.
Just remember that seeing the show on standby can potentially mean a long wait in line, especially if you want to score the best seats the standby section has to offer. So, we recommend you consider the rest of your plans for the day to determine whether it might be worth it’s worth the wait or time for an upgrade.
Fantasmic Disney Genie+ Seating
Previously, FastPass+ (Disney Genie+’s pre-pandemic precursor) seating for Fantasmic was located in the four sections of the amphitheater’s left-most side. So, should Disney allow guests to reserve seating for the show using Disney Genie+ , this is where we anticipate it will be. Personally, we love this option as it saves us the hassle of waiting in line for an hour or more for a good spot, freeing up precious time to do other things on our list.
That being said, Genie+ service isn’t currently offered for any of Disney World’s nighttime spectaculars. However, given that the show is held in an amphitheater, along with the show’s incredible popularity, Genie+ would be both relatively easy to implement as well as helpful for crowd control. Not to mention, the possible boost in Disney Genie+ sales.
On the bright side, should Disney use Genie+ for Fantasmic, we anticipate that there will likely be a fair amount of availability later on in the day since many people tend to save their early Genie+ reservations for the park’s most popular attractions. It may even be a freebie reservation in addition to your regular selections. Only time will tell.
Fantasmic Dining Packages
Everyone’s gotta eat. So, why not follow up dinner with another equally sweet finale in addition to dessert? Along with Hollywood Studios food favorites like burgers from the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater and the 50’s Prime Time Café’s fried chicken, diners with Fantasmic Dining Packages are treated to the best seats the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater has to offer.
Typically located in the middle two sections of the amphitheater, dining package reserved seating offers the most centered and, as a result, best views of Fantasmic. Although you can’t just stroll into the theater three minutes before showtime and expect a good spot (25 minutes prior is when you’re expected), this does cut down on your wait time considerably compared to sitting in standby.
Advance reservations for Fantasmic Dining Packages opened on October 26, 2022, and are highly recommended due to the show’s popularity.
Advance reservations are highly encouraged, although there may be some same-day reservations available on a limited basis. However, please be aware that even if Fantasmic is canceled, your dining reservation still stands, and no partial or full refunds will be offered.
What is included with the Fantasmic Dining Package?
Depending on which of the five restaurants you choose, in addition to a non-alcoholic beverage, each Fantasmic Dining Package includes either an entrée and appetizer or dessert or, where applicable, one full buffet. All five options also come with one guaranteed seating voucher per person, which grants the guest access to the Fantasmic Dining Package’s reserved viewing area in the center of the amphitheater.
However, while the sections are reserved, seats are not assigned and are available exclusively on a first-come, first-served basis. The check-in area is located next to Beauty & The Beast Live on Stage, and you must arrive at least 25 minutes before the start time.
50’s Prime Time Café
Nothing says ‘family’ like sharing a meal together at the dinner table. Designed to look like a kitschy, ‘50s-era kitchen, 50’s Prime Time Café cooks up all-American comfort food and old-fashioned fun. Be sure to mind your manners (keep your elbows off the table!) as you tuck into cozy classics like fried chicken, pot roast and meatloaf. And you better finish your vegetables before having dessert – try the pineapple upside-down cake or warm apple crisp.
- Lunch & Dinner: $51 (plus tax & gratuity) per adult, $22 per child (ages 3 to 9)
Hollywood & Vine
Can’t get enough Disney characters? Indulge in character dining at Hollywood & Vine. In the morning, your little one’s favorite animated stars take center stage for the Disney Junior Play n’ Dine Breakfast. At lunch and dinner, it’s Minnie’s Seasonal Dining , when the mouse-with-the-mostest throws seasonal soirees complete with themed décor, outfits, music, and menu.
Disney PhotoPass: The Complete Guide
- Breakfast: $54 per adult, $36 per child
- Lunch & Dinner: $71 per adult, $47 per child
Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano
Say ‘mangia’ (Italian for ‘eat up’) at Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano. Located in the backlots of Grand Avenue, this eclectic Italian eatery dishes up authentically inspired dishes and welcoming vibes. Dig into carb-licious pasta or savory strip steak or chicken beneath a canopy of rustic wood beams and twinkle lights before finishing with some tiramisu.
- Lunch & Dinner: $54 per adult, $22 per child (ages 3 to 9)
Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant
Cruise into the Sci-Fin Dine-In Theater for a dinner and a show you won’t soon forget. Made to look like an old-school drive-in movie theater – complete with tables shaped like classic cars, car hop servers and pulpy sci-fi clips – this retro restaurant is as whimsical as it gets. While you watch the movie, fuel up on fully loaded burgers as you bathe in the glow of illuminated taillights and a blanket of glittering stars.
- Lunch & Dinner: $49 per adult, $22 per child (ages 3 to 9)
The Hollywood Brown Derby
You won’t find a classier joint at Disney’s Hollywood Studios than The Hollywood Brown Derby. Based on an iconic eatery of Hollywood’s Golden Age, The Hollywood Brown Derby is the only signature restaurant with a Fantasmic Dining Package. The only thing more elegant than the dining room’s dark wood paneling and star-studded décor is the menu, which features filet mignon, coq au vin and duck à l’orange. Save some room for a slice of Grapefruit Cake, a mainstay of Tinseltown’s heyday.
- Lunch & Dinner: $73 per adult, $29 per child (ages 3 to 9)
Is the Disney World Fantasmic Dining Package worth it?
Between the tasty meal and the convenience of enjoying reserved seats for the best view in the house, the Fantasmic Dining Package and Disney World can definitely be worth it. Is it a little expensive? Sure, especially if you opt to eat at The Hollywood Brown Derby or do a character meal at Hollywood & Vine.
However, there are some more affordable options. 50’s Prime Time Café, Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano and Sci-Fine Dine-In Theater serve up respectable food and oodles of charm at a fraction of the price. Still, between the bottomless eats and character extravaganza that is Hollywood & Vine and the upscale food and setting of The Hollywood Brown Derby, depending on your group’s interests and budget, even the pricier options can be worthwhile, especially when you factor in the VIP seats.
Tips & Tricks for a Fantastic Fantasmic! Experience
Hoping to make your Fantasmic viewing experience as fantastic as possible? Here are some simple suggestions to make the show as stress-free and enjoyable as possible.
- Waiting around for the second showing could snag you better seats. On nights with two showtimes, the first showing tends to be busier than the second. So, as long as you don’t mind staying out later, consider sticking it out for the last show of the night. Then, once the earlier audience exits, swoop in to claim your victory and more centered seats without as much of a wait.
- Get in line early for a more centered view. If you want the best views of Fantasmic on standby, you’ll need to show up early. The amphitheater opens 90 minutes prior to showtime. In the early days following the show’s return, plan to be there for the opening or risk being stuck on the edges. Otherwise, for a chance at being close to the middle, arrive at least 45 minutes to an hour before showtime.
- Avoid the closest rows if you want to stay dry. Think of the first chunk of rows at Fantasmic as the splash zone at SeaWorld , only with Disney characters and screens of misting water awash with colorful movie scenes instead of frolicking marine mammals. Pick a spot further back if you prefer to stay dry.
- Bring snacks with you to power you through the pre-show wait. An hourlong wait followed by the 30-minute show can be brutal, especially if it’s been a while since you’ve had dinner and you’re dealing with hangry kids (or adults , for that matter). In addition to all the other eateries around the park, you’ll find several restaurants located just outside the amphitheater. So, grab something to snack on to bring with you beforehand and avoid both the crush at the concession stand, as well as any crankiness.
- Watch your little ones during scary moments. Believe it or not, Mickey’s imagination isn’t always cheese, rainbows and butterflies. Things can get pretty dark when the Disney Villains come to play, and younger children may find certain scenes frightening. Consider giving the show a watch beforehand on YouTube to gauge your child’s potential reaction or, at the very least, keep an eye on them during the show in case they become too concerned with Mickey’s safety.

Disney’s Famous Dinner and Show: The Fantasmic! Dining Package – Is it Worth It?
Fantasmic! is one of the most beloved nighttime attractions at Walt Disney World Resort . This 25-minute show at the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater offers more than just fireworks. It blends live-action characters, water screens, fountains, lights, pyrotechnics, and a 40-foot-tall dragon animatronic to create an absolutely unforgettable show.
It originally opened in 1998 and has been running in some form ever since (minus some refurbishment time and minor closures). While Fantasmic! was closed throughout most of 2020-2022, the show re-opened in November 2022 along with the highly-anticipated dining experience! (Yay!)
If you’re planning a trip to Walt Disney World Resort, you’ve likely heard of Fantasmic! – after all, it’s one of those can’t-miss nightly events! But what about the dining package? Let’s dive in and see how it works!
What is the Fantasmic Dining Package?
The Fantasmic! Dining Package is an add-on dining experience for Hollywood Studios that brings a little Disney magic to the concept of “dinner and a show.” You can select breakfast, lunch, or dinner at one of five participating restaurants in Hollywood Studios. Depending on what you choose, you’ll get an entrée and appetizer (or dessert) at full-service restaurants or full buffet access at family-style restaurants. You’ll also be served a non-alcoholic beverage. Currently participating restaurants are 50’s Prime Time Cafe, Hollywood & Vine , Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant , The Hollywood Brown Derby , and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano . (More about those later!)
When you arrive at the restaurant, you’ll also be given a voucher for VIP seating for one nightly viewing of Fantasmic! With your voucher, you won’t have to wait in line but will be shown to the Mickey Mouse section of the theater (which just happens to be the center and arguably the best spot to watch the show).
Gratuity and any additional purchases you make at the restaurant (extra dessert, alcoholic beverages, etc.) are not included in the price. So make sure you’re prepared to tip after your meal! Remember that the dining package does not include admission to the Disney parks. You must have a valid park ticket (and park reservation) for Hollywood Studios on the day of your reservation to be allowed into the restaurant.
How do I get Reserved Seating for Fantasmic!?
As of right now, the only way you can have access to the reserved seating section for Fantasmic is by purchasing the Fantasmic! Dining Package. Disney does not offer reserved seating any other way. Even within the reserved seating section, it is still on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are no reserved seats for the show. You’ll need to be at the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater 25 minutes before your showtime. There is no other VIP seating for the show.
Unlike the other shows at Hollywood Studios, Fantasmic is still not on Genie+, so you can’t reserve a spot on the My Disney Experience app. As of 2023, there are no Lightning Lanes for the show either.
If you want to grab a seat for Fantasmic!, then you must get there early. Without the dining experience reservation, we recommend getting in line at least an hour before showtime to guarantee a spot!
Where can I make Fantasmic! Dining Reservations?
Right now, you can make Fantasmic dining reservations one of two ways. You can book your dining package directly online at Fantasmic! Dining Packages or you can call 407-WDW-DINE (939-3463) for dining reservations and assistance.
You can start making Disney advanced dining reservations 60 days before the start of your trip. Because these spots can fill up quickly at certain times of the year, we recommend trying to book your dining reservation as close to that 60-day mark as possible to ensure you get the experience you want!
How much does the Fantasmic! Dining Package Cost?
The Fantasmic dining package cost is determined by which restaurant and which meal you choose. As with most Disney restaurants, breakfast prices are typically less expensive than lunch and dinner. The meal pricing is comparable to ordering from the menu, with a slight upcharge for the reserved seating.

What’s the Best Restaurant for the Fantasmic! Dining Package?
Let’s talk about the dining options for this dining package. Clearly, your mileage may vary for where you prefer to eat at Hollywood Studios (everyone has preferences!), but we think there are a few obvious winners in this race.
Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant
If you have kids or if you love retro science fiction and a little bit of kitsch, Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater would be at the top of our list. This restaurant is a truly unique experience. Your party will sit in a darkened “drive-in” where you’re in a car-shaped booth that faces a large screen playing clips from old black and white sci-fi films.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by The Jones’s (@lifestyleexplorersfl)
If you have a large group, you may want to think about seating arrangements. Each car has two forward-facing bench seats so everyone can watch the screen. The booth can comfortably fit two adults per row (or perhaps three little ones). The menu has pretty standard American fare. Think burgers, chicken, and a few pasta dishes – so it’s great for picky eaters!
The Brown Derby is the most expensive option for Fantasmic! dining, but it’s also the more exclusive restaurant at Hollywood Studios. This makes it a great choice if you are doing an adult-only trip or planning a date night/special occasion at the parks.
The menu might be a little too much for younger taste buds (appetizers include escargot and charcuterie boards) but the food is good. We recommend the prime rib or the filet mignon as an entrée – both of them are delicious! We also recommend checking out the menu before you go so you can make the most of your meal. Some of the cheaper entrees aren’t as cost-effective with the price of the dining package!
50’s Prime Time Café
Do you miss “mom’s home cooking”? What about dining in a midcentury home-themed restaurant with a new “family member” (the wait staff takes the role of your aunt, uncle, or cousin) to make sure you clean your plate? It’s a really fun vibe that’s good for the whole family to enjoy. We think this is another winner for the dining package!
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Sneffadee (@spunkbread)
The menu is filled with staples like meatloaf, fried chicken, cornbread, and pot pie. It’s a twist on a simple menu that makes your mealtime fun (so long as you all enjoy playing along!). If you don’t want to worry about audience participation during your meal, we’d suggest one of the other restaurants.
Hollywood & Vine
If you’re already booking a character meal for your kids (or yourself, we won’t judge!) then we’d choose the Hollywood & Vine option for Fantasmic! dining is just killing two birds with one stone. You’ll either dine with Minnie and friends (for lunch or dinner) or with Disney Junior characters (for breakfast). Hollywood & Vine is a buffet-style meal, so there’s usually something for everyone at your party. You’ll get to try a few fancier options as well as some simple staples for picky eaters.
Being able to book breakfast is another bonus! You’ll start the day with a big meal and still have plenty of time to explore the park.
We’ll be absolutely honest here. We’d recommend trying every single restaurant on this list before Mama Melrose’s. While it always smells delicious (especially when we’re walking by this spot on our way out of Muppet Vision 3D ), we’ve always found the food serviceable, but just not worth it when there are so many other options. Unless you’ve got someone in your party that just really wants a flatbread pizza, we’d go with something else.
Is the Fantasmic! Dining Package Worth it?
Whether this dining package is worth it to you really depends on two things:
- How much do you want to prioritize seeing Fantasmic? (And how long are you willing to wait in line to see it?)
- Do you want to eat at one of the restaurants included in the dining package?
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Mandy (@ijustwannabe_atdisney)
The upcharge for the dining package is minimal compared to the restaurant prices normally (so long as you choose menu items comparable to what you’re already spending), and it’s an excellent way to try restaurants that often book out on reservations early. If you’re already considering eating at one of the five restaurants while at Hollywood Studios, it’s a good strategy to book the Fantasmic! experience while you’re there. It will also cut down on your wait times for the show, giving you more time in the park during the day.
However, on busier park days, Hollywood Studios has two performances of Fantasmic! If you’re at the park on one of those nights, you might have better luck (and a shorter wait for seating) by just skipping the first showing and trying for the second. It’s typically less crowded. That way, you won’t have to spend extra time or money just to be guaranteed a seat. Getting the dining package is not the only way to see the show. You can always commit to getting there early (as seating opens 90 minutes before showtime), and you should get a good seat that way! Ultimately, it just depends on the day, the crowd density, and your dining budget.

Fantasmic! Dining Package
Fantasmic! is a 25-minute journey into the colorful imagination of Mickey Mouse. This nighttime musical special effects extravaganza features Disney characters, dancing fountains, water screens, fireworks, live actors, animated props including a 40-foot-tall-fire-breathing-dragon, and more. The show takes place nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios .
Why Purchase a Fantasmic! Dining Package? Most nights people begin lining up for Fantasmic! Up to two hours in advance to ensure getting a seat for the show. Despite seating capacity approaching 8,000, the theater often fills up, including the additional standing room at the back of the theater. The Fantasmic! Dining Package includes reserved seating for the showing of Fantasmic! and includes lunch or dinner at select Disney’s Hollywood Studios restaurants. When you purchase a Fantasmic! Dining Package, you can avoid lengthy standing in lines and still ensure that you will have a seat. Book dining packages on all dates when Fantasmic! is scheduled. Booked guests enjoy designated seating.
Reservations How It Works Pricing Additional Information Tips
The Fantasmic! Dinner Package Package includes a meal reservation plus a Fantasmic! reserved seating pass. Currently the Fantasmic Package is offered at 5 restaurants: 50’s Prime Time Cafe, Hollywood Brown Derby, Mama Melrose, Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater Restaurant and Hollywood & Vine.
Breakfast times for the dining portion of the packages generally run from park opening until 11:00 a.m., lunch times for packages are from approximately 11:00 a.m. to 3:25 p.m. and dinner times are from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 pm.
While there is no additional charge beyond buying your meal for the package, you must guarantee it with a credit card when reserving. Your card is not charged at the time of reserving, but a $10 cancellation fee will be applied to your card if the package is not canceled at least 48 hours prior to restaurant seating time. After dining, pay for your meal with cash, credit card, gift card, or room charge. Call (407) WDW-DINE (939-3463) up to 60 days in advance to make Advance Dining Reservations . The Fantasmic! Dining Package is also available to book through Disney’s Online Reservation System. Fantasmic! Dining Packages are popular and must be booked in advance. It’s best to reserve one as soon as your 60-day booking window opens up.
How It Works
Arrive at your selected restaurant and dine. You will be given a special pass after your meal that will admit you to the reserved seating section in the Fantasmic! amphitheater. There is no charge for this pass and charges apply only to your pre-priced dinner. At least 25 minutes before show time, enter the theater with your pass and a cast member will direct you to the reserved seating section. If you enter later than 25 minutes before show time, you may lose your reserve seating as extra seating in this section is then offered to the general public.
Note: In the event of a show cancelation due to inclement weather, guaranteed seating will be made available for an alternative performance within five days of the date you were originally scheduled to attend. Valid theme park admission is required. You will, however, still dine on the scheduled day and time.
Fantasmic! Dining Packages can be added during peak season nights. Walt Disney World Dining will be able to give you times for Fantasmic! up to 60 days in advance. You can also check the Times Guide at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park for schedule and show times. Seating begins 90 minutes prior to show times. If more than one showing is offered, you generally do not need to purchase a Fantasmic! Dining Package to ensure seating as there is usually plenty of availability at the later shows. If there are two shows and you choose to purchase a dining package, your tickets will be for the earlier showing.

The Reserved Seating Section for the Fantasmic! Package is located in the Mickey and Scar sections which are the middle two sections of the theater. Because of the design of this theater, with action taking place on a 50-foot-tall mountain in the middle of the stage, there really are no “bad” seats for this show, although the far left or right can be less than optimal.
Seating is outdoors and shows are not always canceled because of rain. In the case of lightning and heavy prolonged rain, the show may be canceled or delayed, even after being admitted to the theater. Cancellation decisions are often made based on the latest weather bureau information and at the last minute. Bring a poncho when the weather is in doubt.
If you sit in the first few rows, you may get wet from special water effects.
Refreshments and restrooms are located at the rear of the theater. Additionally, vendors selling refreshments circulate prior to the show. Cast Members often entertain guest prior to show with a variety of crowd activities.

Fantasmic! Dining Package – Is it worth it at Disney World?
Last updated on Jan 1, 2024 by Adam Bryan . This post may contain affiliate links.
If you want a guaranteed seat for Fantasmic at Hollywood Studios along with a delicious meal, then a Fantasmic Dinner Package is by far one of the best (and tastiest) ways to do it.
It’s an offer that combines a great meal at one of the park’s restaurants with reserved seating for the always spectacular Fantasmic! nighttime show and fireworks.
But here’s the burning question: Is it worth the price?
In this article, we’ll dig deep into the pros and cons of the Fantasmic Dining Package, while exploring whether the convenience, dining quality, and upgraded viewing experience make it a worthwhile investment.
So with that said, let’s jump right into it!
What is the Fantasmic Dining Package at Disney World?
The Fantasmic Dining Package is a special offering that combines a meal at a designated restaurant with guaranteed seating in a reserved area in the amphitheater for the Fantasmic! nighttime spectacular show and fireworks.
Here’s what’s included in the Fantasmic Dining Package:
- A voucher for guaranteed seating at Fantasmic in a reserved area
- One (1) entree and appetizer (or dessert) at a full service restaurants or….
- …One (1) full buffet and a non-alcoholic drink
Although the food part is great, the most important perk of this dining package is that you’ll have access guaranteed access to seating in the center of Hollywood Hills Amphitheater for your performance of Fantasmic!
That said, the reserved seating area is guaranteed but your specific seat is first come first served .
How much does the Fantasmic Dining Package cost?
The Fantasmic Dining Package starts at $49 per person and varies depending on the restaurant that you choose to dine at.
Here’s how much the dining package costs at the five participating restaurants inside of Hollywood Studios for both adults and kids (ages 9 and under):
50’s Prime Time Cafe
- $51 for adults
- $22 for kids
The Hollywood Brown Derby
- $73 for adults
- $29 for kids
Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano
- $54 for adults
Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant
- $49 for adults
Hollywood and Vine
- $54 for adults during breakfast
- $36 for kids during breakfast
- $71 for adults during dinner
- $47 for kids during dinner
The only table service restaurant that is not a part of the dining package is Roundup Rodeo BBQ .
Lastly, Hollywood Studios park admission is not included in the price of dining package and you will need a valid theme park ticket (and park reservation) to enjoy this offering. Package prices also don’t include tax or gratuity.
How do you book the Fantasmic Dining Package?
Making a reservation for the Fantasmic Dining Package is just like making a normal advanced dining reservation on the My Disney Experience app.
Just choose your date, the number of people in your party and then select “ Fantasmic! Dining Packages .”
From there, you’ll be able to see all available restaurants and time slots available, as well as the showing that you’ll have reserved seating for.
Where do you sit during Fantasmic?
The reserved seating area for the Fantasmic Dining Package guest are located in the Scar and Mickey section of the theater, which are in the very center of the stage.
One thing I always emphases is that while the Fantasmic Dining Package does guarantee you a seat in reserved section, your seats are not assigned as it’s first come first serve.
So even though you can arrive up to 25 minutes before showtime, there’s always the possibility that your seats won’t be as close as you’d want them to be.
Where do you check in?
After your meal, the check-in area for your reserved Fantasmic seating is located on Sunset Blvd right next to the Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage.
Seating will begin 90 minutes before showtime and it is recommended that you arrive at least 25 minutes prior to showtime so that you can be seated in the reserved section.
Dining Package Food vs Buying It Yourself
When you purchase the Fantasmic Dining Package, you’ll get to choose from five different table service restaurants inside Hollywood Studios, all of which have their own prices for adults and kids.
Since with each meal you’ll either receive an entree and appetizer (or dessert) or one full buffet, there is the possibility that you can eat a delicious meal while still getting reserved Fantasmic seating practically for free (or for like a few bucks).
Here’s a breakdown of how much you’ll save or spend extra at each restaurant:
- 50’s Prime Time Cafe = $9 – $13 extra per person
- Hollywood & Vine = $11 – $26.50 extra per person
- Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano = $5 – $7 extra per person
- Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant = $8 – $23 extra per person
- The Hollywood Brown Derby = $1 to $36 extra per person
Regardless of how you run the numbers, opting for an appetizer is more cost effective than getting a dessert for adults.
So if you can, get an appetizer and skip the dessert if you want the best bang for your buck.
- Appetizers cost between $9 and $12, entrees costs between $17 and $28, and dessert costs between $7.50 and $10.
- Kid’s appetizers cost $3 and entrees costs between $12 and $14.
- An adult meal will cost $24.50 to $40, on average.
- A kid meal will cost $15 to $17, on average.
The dining package costs $51 for adults and $22 for kids, meaning that you are essentially paying $11 to $26.50 extra for Fantastic seating.
Hollywood & Vine
- Breakfast buffet costs $42 per adults and $27 per child.
- You are paying $13 extra per adult and $11 extra for kids during breakfast for reserved Fantasmic seating.

- Appetizers cost between $9 and $13, entrees costs between $23 and $36, and desserts cost between $6.25 and $10
- Kid’s appetizers costs $3 and entrees cost either $11 or $12
- An adult meal will cost $29.50 to $49, on average.
- A kid meal will costs $14 to $15, on average.
The dining package costs $54 for adults and $22 for kids meaning that you are paying $5 to $7 per person for guaranteed Fantasmic seating.
- Appetizers cost between $11 and $15, entrees cost between $19 and $26, and desserts cost $7 to $10
- Kid’s appetizers costs $3 and entrees cost between $11 and $13.
- An adult meal costs $26 to $41, on average.
- A kid’s meal costs $14 to $16, on average.
The dining package costs $49 for adults and $22 for kids meaning that you are paying $8 to $23 extra for guaranteed Fantasmic seating.
- Appetizers cost between $13 to $21, entrees cost between $22 to $49, and desserts cost $12 or $13.
- Kid’s appetizers cost $3 and entrees cost between $9 to $17.
- An adult meal costs $34 to $70, on average.
- A kids’ meal costs $12 to $20 on average.
The dining package costs $73 for adults and $29 for kids, meaning you are paying $1 to $36 extra for guaranteed Fantasmic seating.
Best Bang for You Buck?
The ultimate, best bang for your buck will be at Hollywood Brown Derby IF you get the Charcuterie Board appetizer for $21 and the Filet Mignon entree for $49 which adds up to a total price of $70. As a result, you are only paying $1 for Fantasmic seating , before tax and gratuities.
Regardless of where you dine, if the goal is the maximize your savings, I would be sure to skip the entree salads as they are always the cheapest things on the menu.
What’s the cheapest Fantasmic Dining Package?
The cheapest Fantasmic Dining Package at Disney World can be found at Sci-Fi Dine-In Restaurant which costs $49 per adult and $22 per kid.
In my opinion, this is probably the best option in terms of food, restaurant, and price.
Is it worth it?
So is the Fantasmic! Dining Package at Hollywood Studios worth it?
Absolutely! (but only if your prioritize saving time over money)
- Reserved seating in the best section of Fantasmic’s amphitheater
- A massive time saver since you aren’t waiting in line to be seated
- You can enjoy a great meal stress-free, knowing that you’ll have a seat for Fantasmic
- Since there is no Genie+ Lightning Lane for Fantasmic, the dining package is the only way to get guaranteed seating for the show
At the end of the day, the extra $10+ per person is worth the time you’ll save waiting the standby line.
I’m not someone who’s willing to wait up to 2 hours for this show especially since there’s still the risk that I’d get a crappy side view, like the one below.
But with the dining package, you’ll essentially get a great meal and have one of the best seats in the house.
So, if you already planned on eating at a sit-down restaurant in Hollywood Studios, this package is a great way to both enjoy a tasty meal AND get a great seat without waiting in a super long queue.

Fantasmic Dining Package at the Hollywood Brown Derby
Jul 17, 2018
It is very rare I do anything without a plan, but there’s an Oliver Queen quote I like to use, “I had a plan. Life had a different one.” When Doug asked if he could come back to visit again, I figured out what we were doing which day, and stopped at that. The only dining reservation I made was for the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue. I didn’t know what he would want to do, or how much park time he would want to give up for food so I figured we could make it up as we went along. Through some strange twist of fate, this led to us deciding to do the Fantasmic Dining Package at the last minute.
It was the last full park day of his visit. Originally, I thought I would be working the morning and Jay would be working the evening, so I had tried to keep our plans flexible. I wound up getting the day off and Jay was able to trade his shift for a day after Doug left at the last possible second. So, the new plan was to open Magic Kingdom and spend the rest of the day at Hollywood Studios. After doing the After Hours Event a few days prior, there wasn’t much left in Magic Kingdom we needed to accomplish. Mostly Doug just wanted to ride the Haunted Mansion one more time.
As we were driving to Magic Kingdom, Jay asked what the food plan was for the day. “I don’t really have one.” I said from the backseat. Doug turned around to look at me, “You don’t have a plan?” “Not for this! I wasn’t sure what you guys would want.”
Doug pulled up a list of restaurants with availability for lunch and started reading off. Unfortunately, he didn’t know which ones were in Hollywood Studios, so a good bit of the conversation was me saying, “That’s at Epcot. That’s at the Boardwalk. That’s at Animal Kingdom Lodge.”
Then he mentioned Hollywood and Vine, and my brain started spinning. I pulled up the Fantasmic Dining Package on my phone because I wanted to see the prices before I suggested it. I also wanted to see if Minnie’s Holiday and Dine, which is a character meal at Hollywood and Vine that’s on my 2018 wishlist, was still on it. Hollywood and Vine was on the list, but it said Holiday and Dine wasn’t going on at the time. (When I pulled the page up to double check prices for this article, it was listed on those dates and now I’m super sad, but this probably worked out for the best.)
“So, if we wanted to book the Fantasmic Dining Package that would take care of lunch and then we could cancel the Fastpasses I made for Fantasmic and try to get Aerosmith Rockin’ Roller Coaster instead.”
This was when we discovered that we hadn’t taken Doug on Aerosmith when he was here last year because he had no idea it existed and it’s apparently one of his favorite bands. Whoops. I did get him on Toy Story and the Great Movie Ride though, so I think it evens out.
I suggested doing Mama Melrose’s, since it was the less expensive of the dining package options, but Doug didn’t think Italian was a good idea when we were going to be walking around all day. Since Jay and Doug don’t think much of buffets, and since I thought there were no characters at the time, I didn’t mention Hollywood and Vine. That left us with the Hollywood Brown Derby, and I made us a reservation for 1:00 pm
We didn’t leave Magic Kingdom until about 12:05 pm, so that was a little stressful, but we made it with plenty of time to spare. We arrived at the restaurant about ten minutes before our reservation, and were given a pager. I had forgotten Doug likes Hollywood and movie history, so this really was the perfect place for us.
We were seated in no time at all. We had a rather disastrous experience with the Fantasmic Dining Package in Disneyland last year, and a wonderful time at the River of Light Dining Package at Tiffins , so I was curious to see how this would go. For one price, you could choose a soft drink and any entrée’ on the menu. Dessert was also included but it was a set plate. Appetizers were not included but that didn’t stop me from ordering the Cobb Salad. I’ve only been to Brown Derby a handful of times, but their Cobb Salad is to die for. Apparently, the Cobb Salad was actually invented at the original Brown Derby in California, so it’s kind of like the original Cobb Salad.
Bread and sea salt almond butter came out at the same time as my salad. I tore into it. Cobb Salad is the only thing I’ll eat that has egg pieces in it. Since our silverware only had a single knife and fork, they brought me a salad fork.
Jay and I both ordered the Charred Filet of Beef, which by itself was $49. Doug opted for the Black Grouper and Lobster Cioppino, which was $46. If you’re going to be on a fixed price anyway, you might as well order the most expensive thing on the menu!
The food was out in no time at all, and it was amazing. When we weren’t looking, steak knives had magically appeared on the table. Words can barely describe how wonderful it was. The steak was cooked perfectly and tender, the potatoes were delicious, and even the Brussels sprouts were good. I did not sample Doug’s seafood, but he was more vocal about how wonderful his food was than we were, so I’m confident it was equally amazing.
The food was so good and there was so much of it, finishing it was a struggle, but I was determined not to leave anything on the plate. Jay finished practically everything except the brussels sprouts, and Doug only seemed to have lobster shell left. (I don’t actually know how you eat lobster.)
The boys’ plates were cleared while I was still picking at mine, trying to eat every last bite. I was finished by the time dessert arrived. Dessert was the only thing I didn’t love about this meal. It was a two-flight dessert of Brown Derby Original Mini Grapefruit Cake and Banana-Toffee Cake. The Banana-Toffee Cake was good, but the banana flavor was overpowering and distracted from the toffee. As for the Grapefruit Cake, I tried one bite and that was it. I don’t care for grapefruit to begin with, and it wasn’t any better in cake form. The boys seemed to really enjoy both, however.
A couple of to-go sodas, and we were ready to go. It was a little past 2:00 pm and our first Fastpass wasn’t until 3:25 pm Fantasmic was scheduled for 7:00 pm, so we had plenty of time. We went to watch the movie at Launch Bay, and I had to drag them to go see BB-8. It was a ten-minute wait and he’s so cute!
We hit Star Tours, Tower of Terror, the Beauty and the Beast show, and the Walt Disney Presents museum, so Doug could see the Galaxy’s Edge Star Wars land model. We wound up standing in line for Tower of Terror again since it was only a thirty-minute wait, and headed for the Fantasmic theater right at 6:15 pm. We went in through Fastpass, and they tore our tickets in half, letting us keep half so we’d have a way to get back in.
Holy cow, the reserved seating for the Dining Package was almost full! There was still plenty of seating but I’m glad we were such a small party. They were only letting people enter from the left side of the section and the seating was to the right. We had to cross over in the VIP rows to climb down to our seats.
We only had to wait about half an hour until show time at this point. Doug went on a snack run and came back with soda, a Mickey pretzel (my favorite!), and nachos.
Fun fact: Since he did not grow up in the United States, Jay only knows the song “Don’t Stop Believing” from the Fantasmic pre-show music.
Fantasmic was wonderful and amazing as always. We were pretty much dead center, but far back enough that we didn’t have to worry about getting soaked by the water mist. Which was good, it was surprisingly cold!
Every time Mickey sets off the fireworks, my heart soars and I get goosebumps. I love this show so much.
As soon as the show ended, we joined the mass of people trying to get out. The only Aerosmith Rockin’ Roller Coaster Fastpass I had been able to get had been 7:15 pm to 8:00 pm so we had to get over there in the crush of people. Somehow, we made it in only ten minutes, and I’m still not sure how that worked.
Aerosmith was still posting a forty-five-minute wait, despite it being less than a half hour before park close, so I was super happy to have Fastpass. We went in and it was quickly obvious Doug was right when he said he’d never done it before.
We didn’t tell him it was a launch coaster, and he was distracted enough that he never saw it launch while we were waiting. I just told him to put his head back as I felt the coaster set for launch. Aerosmith launches on a slingshot mechanism, so you can feel it roll backwards before it takes off. We were actually seated in rows five and six, which is the pull car that launches the coaster so those are actually the fastest seats on Aerosmith. Pretty cool for his first time!
Jay and I were singing, “Dude looks like a lady!” at the top of our lungs the whole way through.
We got off Aerosmith and I had given Doug the choice of trying to rush to Tower of Terror a third time before park close, or going to get spots for the Star Wars Galactic Spectacular.
Naturally, he picked Tower of Terror.
We booked it out of Aerosmith and made it to Tower of Terror with two minutes to spare. We had encountered one of the best Bellhops Jay and I had ever seen, a young man named Curran. He was spooky, he was themed, and he was into his character. Thankfully, he loaded us on the elevator for our final trip of the night, and scared the crap out of Doug while he was at it. Pretty much the perfect end to a perfect trip.
The Fantasmic Dining Package is not as much of a bargain as the Rivers of Light Dining Package at Tiffens since it doesn’t include an appetizer, but you do get seating for a much better show. Since Fantasmic is extremely difficult to get into if you don’t have either a Fastpass or a dining package, it’s a great way to free up one of your other Fasptasses. I honestly found it to be a great value, and while it’s not something I’d do every time, it’s definitely great for a special occasion, or if you’ve got someone visiting. (Or if you’re visiting!) The food was amazing and every bit worth the price alone, and I look at it as getting seating for Fantasmic and a Fastpass for something else, which adds to the value.
It’s certainly better than Disneyland’s Fantasmic Dining Package.
Cost: The Hollywood Brown Derby option that we did is $62 per person, plus tax and tip. Hollywood and Vine is $59 per person and Mama Melrose’s is $42 per person, plus tax and tip.
Value: Great to do for special occasions or if you need to maximize your Fastpass options.
Duration: Lunch took a little over an hour, and then four hours later we arrived forty-five minutes early for a half hour show, so all together it was a little over five hours spread throughout the day.
Add Ons: None.
