Professionally built by Astral Yachts this Townson 34 is a pleasure to sail.

Launched 1987 this is a Kiwi classic with a modern reverse transom, GRP hull and decks, 3.2m beam, 1.73m draft and good 1.78m headroom.  This Series 2 Townson has been fully polished with all varnish work re-done.

Accommodation includes 1 Double, 3 singles and a dropdown saloon table for an extra double. The well laid-out interior includes a head and shower, 2 burner & oven, fridge and freezer.

A pleasure to sail, with new Bimini and Sail covers to the Stackpack main and UV strip to Genoa (3 years), Mainsail, No 1 and 2 Genoa, Reef Rite Furler and 6 x Self Tailing winches.

The 2003 28 hp Volvo diesel engine on a shaft drive has approx 1100hrs. It is fitted forward of the saloon with good access.

Features include: Stainless 85l fuel tank + 200l stainless water tank 20L holding tank 3-blade bronze folding prop Cruises 6kts. GPS, autopilot, depth sounder, chart plotter, speed and distance logs, compass and barometer, VHF radio; stereo and CD player. Comes with 2012 Maxxon Air floor Dinghy with Mercury 2.5hp outboard. Well presented example with Reverse Transom and all the hard work done.

Welcome to the Townson Owners and Townson 32 Association website!

Here you will find out about the Association, what it offers, an identity page on the keelboat designs of Des Townson and a history of the 3 Townson 32 designs. We offer valuable guides to sailing your Townson yacht with tuning, sailing and cruising guides and other helpful information.

The original Townson Owners Association was formed in 1974 when the 3 Townson 32 designs took prominence and became the Townson 32 Owners Association in 1980. In about 1981, a Townson 34 Association was formed that lasted for a while before going into recess. Some of these members ultimately joined the Townson 32 Association . and the Townson Owners Association was later formed in conjunction with the Townson 32 Association under one organisation. Some Townson owners have moved on to other boats or retired from boating and have wished to remain in contact as Associate members.

What do we do?

*Provide in depth knowledge on sailing and maintaining these Townson designs from the vast experience of so many long term owners.

*Provide regular newsletters on activities, cruising guides that include navigating around the Hauraki Gulf, stories and philosophical meanderings.

*Provide an Annual Townson booklet with current boat owners and general information to members.

*Organise a yearly sailing and social programme for members including our Annual Altex & Burnsco Townson 32 Class Championships and a Townson Design regatta.

The Electron radio controlled yacht is an authentic sailing model yacht.  It is suitable for beginners to sail as well as producing exciting and challenging racing for the most experienced yachtsman. The Electron is not a toy boat, but a miniature version of a real yacht. Designed by well-known New Zealand yacht designer, Des Townson, every Electron is hand crafted in fibreglass from one mould with almost 100 individual pieces making up a complete boat package. To date almost 1000 boats have been built.
