Disneyland Location Reaches Final Day of Operation, Closes Doors

in Disney Parks , Disneyland Paris

A popular location has closed for an extended refurbishment at Disneyland.

A group of people hold large balloon letters spelling "Disney" in various bright colors. The backdrop shows a stage with colorful lighting and a crowd of people cheering, creating a festive atmosphere reminiscent of a Pride Celebration at a Disney theme park.

Despite being known for their vast collection of classic dark rides, exhilarating roller coasters, stunning live shows, and incredible atmosphere, Disney theme parks are often best known for their culinary experiences.

The Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando , Florida, is home to some of the most unique and exciting dining experiences in the state. Places like Ohana, Victoria and Albert’s, and The Flying Fish are considered some of the best food on the property.

This carries over to all of the Disney theme parks around the world, especially Disneyland Paris , which features a French twist on classic sweet treats and savory dishes.

Unfortunately, one popular restaurant has closed its doors for the rest of the summer.

Two adults sat in Fantasyland at Disneyland Paris.

On July 6, 2024, the Yacht Club Restaurant at Disneyland Paris closed its doors for a lengthy refurbishment. The restaurant is located at Disney’s Newport Bay Club, one of the many hotels featured at Disneyland Paris.

The Yacht Club Restaurant is not expected to reopen until August 27, meaning the location will be closed for nearly two months.

It’s unknown what this refurbishment entails, but given the length of the closure, it’s likely Disney is overhauling the restaurant significantly.

Guests are being notified of this closure on the official Disneyland Paris Resort website, being met with the following message upon searching for the Yacht Club Restaurant:

As part of our continuing efforts to exceed the expectations of our Guests, this restaurant is closed today.

This closure was also confirmed by DLP Report on Twitter/X.

Disney’s Yacht Club Restaurant features a sophisticated and intriguing menu that breaks the pattern of fried chicken, burgers, and fries found throughout the resort.

Guests are encouraged to sample dishes that are influenced by Mediterranean and New England flavors. The Yacht Club Restaurant has become a popular spot for guests looking for something a little fancier during their Disney vacation and will certainly be missed during this extensive closure.

A split image showing two dishes: on the left, a dessert featuring whipped cream topped with fresh strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries, garnished with mint; on the right, a plate of mussels with crispy French fries. This delicious fare was a highlight at its Disney location until its last day of operation.

Like all of the other Disney theme parks around the world, the Disneyland Paris Resort is home to a wide range of fun rides and attractions, as well as several out-of-this-world lands to explore.

However, Disneyland Paris is also anchored by its vast selection of culinary experiences, ranging from fine dining establishments to quick, bite-sized treats scattered across the resort.

Have you ever visited Disneyland Paris? What’s your favorite thing to eat while on a Disney vacation?

Bermuda Short-Handed Return runs long on unique stories

In a distance race, every boat writes a unique story. This is especially true of short-handed races. While the fleet for the  Bermuda Short-Handed Return  wasn’t large, especially when compared to the fleet that raced to the fabled Atlantic archipelago two weeks prior in North America’s oldest ocean race, the stories from the BSHR were nearly as diverse and just as engaging.

The second edition of the  Bermuda Short-Handed Return  started from the western end of St. George’s Harbor on June 30, with the first boat finishing just off Newport just after dawn on July 4. The results were tabulated and the awards were handed out in a cozy ceremony on the lawn at the New York Yacht Club Harbour Court on the afternoon of Sunday, July 7. But shorthanded racing is all about the journey. Here are three stories from the race, which is a joint effort of the New York Yacht Club, the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club and the Cruising Club of America. The New York Yacht Club’s 2024 Regatta Program is supported by  Safe Harbor Marinas ,  Peters & May ,  Helly Hansen  and  Hammetts Hotel .

The complete results can be found  here .

Murray Beach, skipper of the Tartan 4600  Meridian , was the only boat to start in the Singlehanded Division. He was guaranteed a win in his class, but he also managed to finish fourth overall amongst all entries in the race.

“I had done the Newport Yacht Club’s Bermuda 1-2 in 2015. And, frankly, that’s the most fun I’ve had sailing. I’d always thought it made sense to try to do a return race.

“The preservation of your energy is super important. So, I made very conservative decisions. For example, coming out of Bermuda, every doublehander was headed off to the northeast with their spinnaker full out and doing nine knots, going crazy. And I decided no, I’m going to go straight up the rhumb line. And I went wing-on-wing. And I was rested. I just decided I’m going to pick the shortest line I can for as long as I can. For a while, I thought I was nuts. But, then I realized later, here they all come in. And I was exactly right. I had been resting. They had been racing. And we were meeting right back together. I hadn’t done half the work that they did and I hadn’t taken the risk.

“Making that type of decision [to preserve your energy] is really I think the most important. I mean, I’m 70 years old, so I can’t keep up. When you’re 22 years old, you got a whole lot more horsepower than I do. I’d set out my strategy right from the beginning. And it turned out that it was a good strategy.

“I love singlehanded racing. And you know, I was thrilled. I was the first one to sign up for the single. And for about three months, I was the only one on the list. It was a terrific group. I mean, the sailors are unbelievable. It’s a great event. I’m glad they’ve added it.”

“My Co-Skipper Zach raced [Newport Bermuda Race] on this boat, and he’s sailed on the boat a lot,” said McKeige. “He was our speed guy. I was just kind of there keeping the thing on the tracks a little bit. He’s already experienced that incredibly heavy-weather downwind sailing, so you know, I asked him when should we take this A2 down, and he goes maybe 30 to 35 knots. I was like, alright, I guess we’re locked into this. And we’re going right into the heart of the storm.

“I’m not sure what the other people’s routing had, but we had a very slim chance to make it into that [new breeze partway down the track]. We knew we needed to push the boat really hard, right from the start. Just had to really push forward. We knew the kite was getting to its limit. It’s a little old, it had already done this race down and back a couple times now. And so we kind of decided, hey, we probably won’t need it later. Okay, well, let’s keep it up as long as we can.”

“I mean this boat it’s really wide, really stable, especially with speed,” said Doerr. “So yeah, we’ve carried [the A2] in 30 to 35 knots. This race was a little more difficult because the sea state made it tough to drive around the waves.

“I think going into the second night, and at least in the back of my mind, I was trying to think about taking the A2 down and maybe getting the A5 up. We knew we were kind of in a good spot on the fleet. And then I was down having a little nap. I hear standing on deck, and Will shouts ‘Zach, A2 just popped,’ and so, you know, we carried it until God took it down.”

Lastly, a story highlighting the importance of safety training and adaptability. Co-skipper of  Yankee Girl , Jonathan Bixby, describes their diversion from the Bermuda Short-Handed Return in order to help a boat in distress.  (Bixby, event chair and Doublehanded 2 winner Peter Becker, center, and  Yankee Girl  skipper Thomas Vander Salm, at right.)

“The Coast Guard called us and said that they had a boat in distress. They didn’t have any details, but they needed to divert us to go there. And we were the closest. We were going downwind, so we just jibed.

“During that process, we were communicating with some other boats that were out there that were relaying to us what was happening because the boat we were going to lost their VHF antenna and their AIS. They could communicate via handheld VHF radio, but we were too far away to pick it up. So, there was another sailboat that was in between us that was relaying that information to us. The Coast Guard told us they had a freighter that they were also diverting to the scene. We were aware that when we get there, there was another boat there to assist us.

“The two people on board decided that they did not want to get on the freighter and they wanted to transfer to us. Tom is a physician, and I don’t think they knew it. But, they were so relieved when they got on board to know that they were on board with a physician, because the woman had lacerations and was bleeding. That was really the reason we needed to get there, because we needed to make sure that we could get her on board and take care of her for fear of infection.

“Our whole intention was to continue racing, depending on what we saw with the people who came on board. So when they came on board, we realized, ‘OK, it’s not as bad as we thought. We’re gonna go back to where we suspended and start racing again.’ Which is what we did. Then, we got caught in a no-wind zone, and were still afraid that she might get infected. We needed to get within 200 miles of the coast so that if she did have to be evacuated, at least the Coast Guard could send a helicopter out to take her off. That was really our goal. Therefore, we put the motor on.

“You just need to do what you need to do. Tom and I are both members of the Cruising Club of America, and we’ve been through some intensive safety-at-sea training. I myself teach safety training for cruising couples, so we knew exactly what we were doing. We had to get them in the water and then haul them up. We’ve done all that before.”

When selecting a yacht club in Newport Beach, there are several factors to consider to ensure you make the best decision.

Consider the location of the yacht club in relation to your home or work. Is it easily accessible? Is the location convenient for your lifestyle?

Membership fees and dues

Membership fees and dues can vary widely among yacht clubs, so it’s important to research and compare costs before making a decision. Some clubs may require a one-time initiation fee or have monthly or annual dues.

Facilities and amenities

The facilities and amenities offered by the yacht club are also important to consider. Do they offer a variety of activities, such as sailing lessons or regattas? What are the amenities available, such as dining facilities, swimming pools, or fitness centers?

Reputation and community

The reputation and community of the yacht club are also important factors to consider. Research the club’s history, and look for reviews and testimonials from current and past members. Do they have a strong community, and does it align with your interests and values?

Accessibility and parking

Finally, consider the accessibility and parking options at the yacht club. Is there ample parking available? Is the club easy to access by car or public transportation?

By taking these factors into account, you can narrow down your options and find the yacht club that best fits your needs and preferences.

Russia Weddings

Hands up if you’re ready to be dazzled! From a ceremony structure designed to float on water to a jaw-dropping reception room with flowers blooming from every service, we’re swooning over every bit of this wedding. If you can believe it, that’s just the beginning. Julia Kaptelova artfully shot every detail, like the ballet performance guests were treated to and snow falling from the ceiling for the first dance! Prepare to be amazed and take a visit to the full gallery .

From About You Decor … Our design is a symbol of dawn and a distant endless horizon. Ahead is a long, happy life without any borders. An international couple, Pavel and Cherry, met in London and have been walking together for many years.

newport yacht club events

From the Bride, Cherry… My husband and I we decided to have our summer wedding in Moscow because the city is where his roots are. As we knew we were going to have the other wedding ceremony in China, we wanted our Moscow one to be very personal and intimate. We’ve known each other since we were fourteen, together with many of our friends whom we’ve also known for a decade.

I didn’t want to walk down the aisle twice so the plausibility of my request quickly came into discussion. The open pontoon stage was constructed in order to facilitate the bridal entrance on water, although there were concerns about safety as the last thing we wanted was probably a drowned bride before she could get on stage, picture that! I have to say on that day it wasn’t easy to get on the pontoon stage from the boat, in my long gown and high heels. Luckily my bridesmaids still noticed even though they stood the furthest from me on the stage, and helped me out without prior rehearsal. My girls could just tell whenever I needed a hand or maybe they were just so used to my clumsiness. Who knows 😂

We all love our photographer Julia! She’s so talented and her style is so unique. Our beloved host Alex is exceptional who made everyone laugh and cry. It was truly a blessing to have so many kind and beautiful souls on our big day. Thank you all!

I’m still not convinced this Moscow wedding, captured to perfection by  Sonya Khegay , isn’t actually an inspiration session—it’s just  that breathtaking. From the beautiful Bride’s gorgeous lace wedding dress and flawless hair and makeup to the pretty pastel color palette and stunning ceremony and reception spaces, this wedding is almost too good to be true. Do yourself a favor and see it all in The Vault now!

From Sonya Khegay … It was the last day of April and still very cold in the morning. The weather forecast wasn’t pleasing and no one expected that the sun would come out, but miracles happen and light rain gave way to the warm rays.

I love how all the details went together, you could feel the harmony in everything throughout the entire wedding day from the morning until the fireworks.

A gentle look of the bride, elegant but so airy and unique decor, the fresh and light atmosphere of early spring and, of course, true happiness in the eyes. My heart becomes so warm from these memories, it is always a pleasure to see the birth of a new family of two loving hearts.

You really can’t go wrong with simple: a beautiful Bride , perfectly pretty petals , loved ones all around. But add in an amazing firework show  to cap off the night and simple just became downright extraordinary. Captured by Lena Elisseva , with assistance by  Katya Butenko , this rustic Russian celebration is simply fantastic. See it all in the Vault right here !

From Lena Eliseeva Photo …  This cozy and warm summer wedding of gorgeous Natalia and Anton was in the middle of June. The young couple decided to organize their wedding themselves, and the day was very personal and touching. I am absolutely in love with rustic outdoor weddings, and this one is my favourite because of the free and easy atmosphere.

All the decor excluding the bride’s bouquet was made by a team of ten friends of the bride and groom. And it was charming – a light and beautiful arch, eco-style polygraphy and succulents, candy-bar with caramel apples and berries – sweet joys of summer.

At the end of ceremony the guests tossed up white handkerchiefs embroidered by Natalia’s own hands.

The most touching moment was the happy eyes of the groom’s grandmother, the most estimable person on the wedding. And the fireworks were a bright end to that beautiful day.

These photos from Lena Kozhina are so stunningly beautiful – as in you can’t help but stop and stare – it’s hard to believe it’s real life. But these pics are proof of this gorgeous Bride and her handsome Groom’s celebration at Moscow’s Fox Lodge , surrounded by vibrant colors and breathtaking blooms . Oh, and the idea of prepping for your Big Day outside in the sun ? Brilliant. See more bright ideas right here !

From Lena Kozhina … When we met with the couple for the first time, we immediately paid attention to Dima’s behavior towards Julia. There was a feeling of tenderness and awe, and we immediately wanted to recreate this atmosphere of love, care and warmth on their Big Day.

Later, when we had chosen a green meadow and an uncovered pavilion overlooking a lake as the project site, it only highlighted a light summer mood with colorful florals and a great number of natural woods. The name of the site is Fox Lodge and peach-orange color, as one of the Bride’s favorites, set the tone for the whole design – from the invitations, in which we used images of fox cubs to elements of serving guest tables and other decorative elements with the corresponding bright accents.

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery and Museum

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

newport yacht club events

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.

newport yacht club events

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

newport yacht club events

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

newport yacht club events

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

newport yacht club events

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

newport yacht club events

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

newport yacht club events

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
