Schooner EROS is a magnificent 1939 Schooner that has been loving restored to her former glory with no expense spared. She is available for private charter year-round. Sailing Yacht EROS offers the elegance and luxury of a bygone era, with all of the comforts and amenities you would expect on a modern cruising yacht.

Sailing Yacht EROS has a rich history: built in England in 1939 for the daughter of a British Lord, she was soon commandeered by the Royal Navy for service in the war. Later, she was purchased by the world’s first billionaire, Stavros Niarchos, and became well known throughout the Mediterranean as his private cruising vessel. Her current owners have completed an 18-year refurbishment of the yacht, restoring her to her former Art-Deco glory while updating her with the latest electronics, mechanicals and guest amenities.

EROS offers a tremendous amount of deck space for sunbathing, relaxing, dining and entertaining. A raised sunbathing area with fully-upholstered cushions is the perfect place to work on your tan. Full sun awnings provide cool options for reading, napping, or just plain enjoying the view. In addition, a wonderfully protected cockpit offers a built-in dining table under the stars while the Caribbean breezes keep you cool.

The Eros team comprises of five seasoned, professional and fun loving crew members. While they each have their own responsibilities, they work hand-in- hand to insure our guests enjoy the best vacation imaginable. Colin Horton, Captain - Colin began his sailing career in his home, the Pacific Northwest, while he was in college. He has spent the last 10+ years working on a variety of vessels all over the world. His experience includes multiple Caribbean and Mediterranean sailing seasons, two transatlantic voyages and many super yacht regattas. Colin holds his 200-ton Near Coastal USCG Cap- train’s license. In his off time, Colin owns and maintains his own sailboat and enjoys cruising around the greater New England area. Brieanne Buckey, Chief Stew - Bri grew up on Jamestown Island across the bridge from Newport, RI, where she naturally fell in love with the ocean, and boats. After a stint in the Hawaiian islands, she moved to the Virgin Islands to be close to her first love, warm ocean waters. Drawn to the yachts in the harbor she took a job on a charter boat and has not looked back. She has rounded out her guest service experience with several years working in restaurants and hotels and truly loves to make sure Eros’s charter guests’ expectations are exceeded every minute they are on board. Bri also prides herself on her excellent mixology skills. Heather Stout, Chef - Heather grew up in the southwest desert of Utah and migrated to the eastern coast over a decade ago, where she ended up in Maine and fell in love with classic wooden schooners, the rugged Atlantic shoreline, and the hearty New England agriculture. With over twenty years of experience in restaurants and farming, Heather knows the importance of promoting local food culture by finding and learning the expertise of farmers, ingredients, and practices from the different regions we visit. She places an emphasis on healthy and vibrant meals, and brings a clear message of sustainability and nourishment to her cuisine. Tami Stawicki, Chief Stewardess. Tami grew up on the coast of Connecticut before moving to New York to work as an actuary. After five years, she wanted to focus on traveling and made the switch to work as a host on yachts in Croatia. After a couple of seasons and working various hospitality roles, she is excited to join the crew on Eros. In her free time, Tami enjoys reading, walking, swimming, and running. Esteban Mogollon, First Mate - Esteban´s passion for sailing began in south Florida, where he would race his older sister in a couple lasers across Biscayne Bay. He became enchanted with classic sailboats after working on a few schooners in Newport, RI and Connecticut. Currently holding a 100-Ton Near Coastal USCG Captain´s license, he aspires to upgrade to a 200-Ton license. Beyond the sea, Esteban finds joy in woodworking, surfing, and watching fútbol. Brieanne Buckey, Stewardess/ Deckhand- Bri grew up on Jamestown Island across the bridge from Newport, RI, where she naturally fell in love with the ocean, and boats. After a stint in the Hawaiian islands, she moved to the Virgin Islands to be close to her first love, warm ocean waters. Unlike most charter crew Bri threw in a couple of interesting side gigs, commercial salmon fishing in Alaska, and earning her Coast Guard captain’s license for up to six passengers. She has rounded out her guest service experience with several years working in restaurants and hotels and truly loves to make sure Eros’s charter guests’ expectations are exceeded every minute they are on board. It's not that much of a challenge to figure out why — they get to behave totally irresponsibly, throwing around cash and demands in equal measure and torturing the crew that we all love so much. And the Eros, like the Ohana and Honor before it, is wildly expensive. And as the largest boat of the three, Eros from Below Deck Season 3 costs the most of any yacht in the show's history. According to Yacht Charter World, Eros can cost up to $230,000 per week to charter. Yes, that's right. Per. Week. That balances out to more than $32,000 per day . So you can pay the price of a brand new sedan for every single day you spend on the Eros with your guests. But I'm sure the guests featured on Bravo, as well as other wealthy yacht fans, seem to think that price is well worth it.

How can they charge so much for a simple jaunt on a fancy boat? If you break down the cost of chartering the Eros, it's still pretty expensive, yes, but it is slightly more understandable when considering just how pricy it can be to enjoy all of the various perks that come with the trip. The good news is, you don't have to buy any food while you're on Eros, unless you decide to hit some chic restaurants when you're docked. The bad news is, the salary of a gourmet personal chef must contribute quite a bit to that overall cost. Hey, at least you get to eat whatever you want everyday.

3. That Hot Tub Won't Fit In An Apartment

The enormous hot tub from the show fits eight people, and would cost between about $5,000 and $8,000 for you to buy at Home Depot for your own backyard. But then you're not going to get the beautiful Caribbean vista. And that's not even considering the price of your water bill after installation or the trouble of cleaning and taking care of the thing by yourself.

4. A Triangular Bathtub

I don't know what your shower looks like, but mine is not a beautiful triangular bathtub for soaking, like the one shown on Mustang Sally's profile on Yacht Charter Fleet. Out of all of the "normal" assets featured on the boat (like huge fluffy beds, tons of living rooms, and ornately made up dining tables), this one is the most impossible to recreate at home. Anyone can get some fancy napkins on sale and pair them with some Ikea wine goblets, but turning the bathroom into a spa poses more of a challenge.

5. It Goes Crazy Fast & Is Filled With Power

In Bravo's introduction to Eros, Eddie describes all of its tech specs, and it certainly is hard to understand if you're not an experienced bosun. But it basically boils down to this: you're going to be traveling very quickly and have plenty of power so you can enjoy all the luxuries of home, like wifi and air conditioning.

6. As Much Alcohol As You Could Possibly Desire

Hotels often charge exorbitant prices for bottle service, and asking for cocktails with breakfast would earn you a raised eyebrow unless the restaurant you're visiting offers boozy brunch. But on a yacht? It's expected that you drink like a fish, and if anything, the crew will be understandably jealous. The only problem will be if you out-drink your guests, like foam-party dude.

7. A Hearty Tip For Your Devoted Crew

The crew of Below Deck love their jobs. But more than that, they love the money that providing great service earns them. On Below Deck , everyone splits the tip money equally, which means if you appreciated the service of one of them, you have to compensate all of them — and a customary tip? $20,000, $25,000, or even more. Maybe that's why they price these charters so high. In order to know that you can properly pay the crew, that deserved tip has to look like a bargain compared to the overall price of a luxurious Eros charter.

Apart from genuine classic cruising offer, this fabulous super sail yacht promises luxury performance sailing as well. Luxury sailing yacht EROS has a unique history. She was built as a schooner, a genuine classic beauty in England back in 1939. The order came from top of the establishment for the daughter and son-in-law of a British Lord. Soon after her launch, EROS was very soon commandeered by the Royal Navy to participate in the famous evacuation at Dunkirk as part of WW2 efforts. In late 1940’s she was purchased by the first man internationally known as a billionaire, Stavros Niarchos, who made her his own private floating palace and helping her become a well-known super sail yacht in the Mediterranean yachting community. Her present owners acquired her in 1992 with the latest, museum quality restoration, with no expenses spared completed only recently! During the restoration, the original hull and deck plans were removed allowing reparation or as appropriate replacement of parts of the steel structure. A total of 20,000 bronze bolts were replaced, or renewed, all used to fasten the planks to the steel. Furthermore, the piping, pumps, winches, spars, wiring, electronics and all systems on the yacht were also either replaced or where possible completely overhauled. And while her exterior makes her what she is, the interior is where the genuine connoisseurs of sailing will be at home. The original Art-Deco grandeur of a bygone era is visible throughout with varnished teak joinery, brass fittings and rich, elegant fabrics providing a homely, yet historical atmosphere. The classic nautical theme with suitable artwork plus sofas with specially chosen burgundy velvet hue compliment a first class, classic décor par excellence.

While she has been fitted with all the latest navigation, galley and engine room equipment, she is otherwise restored as she was built. With her original varnished teak joiner work and fittings she is a step back in time evoking the romance and beauty of the Art Deco era from whence she came. Accommodation: Luxury Sailing Yacht EROS can accommodate up to 8+1 guests in 4 luxuriously appointed en-suite cabins. The guests will have a total of 3 double and 1 twin cabins at their disposal, with the twin and one double also featuring additional 2 Pullman berths. The master suite is starboard and has a Queen size bed, en-suite and shower/Jacuzzi tub. Port forward cabin has a double bed, while port aft cabin has Twin upper and lower beds. One final cabin located starboard aft has a matrimonial lower bed and a twin upper bed. Super Yacht crew on board of Classic sailing yacht EROS: A graduate at the University of California Medical Centre, Dr Bill Bodle, or captain Bill as he is known by the crew of EROS, is a highly experienced sailor who circumnavigated the world under sail, visited more than 50 countries on the way across all of the Pacific, Atlantic and the Caribbean and entertained heads of state and royalty. He is one of the most experienced sailors in the charter fleets worldwide and an award winning mariner, his work was featured in a number of high profile magazines thanks to his considerable reputation as a builder and restoration man of classic schooner yachts. Amongst other achievements, he is credited with stunning restorations of super sail yachts such as NORDLYS, GRACE, PANDA and now EROS. Bill gladly shares his experiences with all yacht charter guests during regular cocktail hours and aims to form lasting relationships with all who charter one of the museum quality yachts he captains. The remaining crew on board include hard working engineer Wilson Willkom who moved to California from Philippines in 1999 before joining SY EROS and Hawaiian born Chef Joe Lovitt who previously worked as a chef to Food and Wine bar Vino Volo CEO and who is able to prepare unforgettable gourmet meals for you and your guests, taking any dietary requirements into consideration and preparing meals with only freshly sourced out food or caught fish. Luxury Classic sailing yacht EROS (35.1m / 1151’) was launched by English shipyard Brooks Motor Crafts back in 1939.  Always kept in excellent condition, she accommodates up to 8-10 yacht charter guests sleeping in 1 Master suite, 2 VIP double cabins and 2 twin cabins, one of which is convertible into a double, both with an additional Pullman. All cabins are en-suite and feature their own audio and visual entertainment systems. There are always at least 11 super yacht crew members on board including the captain. This charter yacht mainly cruises at speeds of around 9kn and is normally offered for luxury crewed yacht charters within the Mediterranean in summer and East Caribbean in winter months. Her crew are happy to offer ONE WAY or TANDEM charters between other destinations too and on request. Thanks to her V-892 Detroit diesel super yacht engine totalling 1 x 350hp, during the right sea and wind conditions, she can reach maximum speeds of around 15.5kn. The Eros team comprises of five seasoned, professional and fun loving crew members. While they each have their own responsibilities, they work hand-in- hand to insure our guests enjoy the best vacation imaginable.

Colin Horton, Captain – Colin began his sailing career in his home, the Pacific Northwest, while he was in college. He has spent the last 10+ years working on a variety of vessels all over the world. His experience includes multiple Caribbean and Mediterranean sailing seasons, two transatlantic voyages and many super yacht regattas. Colin holds his 200-ton Near Coastal USCG Cap- train’s license. In his off time, Colin owns and maintains his own sailboat and enjoys cruising around the greater New England area. Brieanne Buckey, Chief Stew – Bri grew up on Jamestown Island across the bridge from Newport, RI, where she naturally fell in love with the ocean, and boats. After a stint in the Hawaiian islands, she moved to the Virgin Islands to be close to her first love, warm ocean waters. Drawn to the yachts in the harbor she took a job on a charter boat and has not looked back. She has rounded out her guest service experience with several years working in restaurants and hotels and truly loves to make sure Eros’s charter guests’ expectations are exceeded every minute they are on board. Bri also prides herself on her excellent mixology skills.

Heather Stout, Chef – Heather grew up in the southwest desert of Utah and migrated to the eastern coast over a decade ago, where she ended up in Maine and fell in love with classic wooden schooners, the rugged Atlantic shoreline, and the hearty New England agriculture. With over twenty years of experience in restaurants and farming, Heather knows the importance of promoting local food culture by finding and learning the expertise of farmers, ingredients, and practices from the different regions we visit. She places an emphasis on healthy and vibrant meals, and brings a clear message of sustainability and nourishment to her cuisine.

Tami Stawicki, Chief Stewardess. Tami grew up on the coast of Connecticut before moving to New York to work as an actuary. After five years, she wanted to focus on traveling and made the switch to work as a host on yachts in Croatia. After a couple of seasons and working various hospitality roles, she is excited to join the crew on Eros. In her free time, Tami enjoys reading, walking, swimming, and running.

Esteban Mogollon, First Mate – Esteban’s passion for sailing began in south Florida, where he would race his older sister in a couple lasers across Biscayne Bay. He became enchanted with classic sailboats after working on a few schooners in Newport, RI and Connecticut. Currently holding a 100-Ton Near Coastal USCG Captain’s license, he aspires to upgrade to a 200-Ton license. Beyond the sea, Esteban finds joy in woodworking, surfing, and watching fútbol.

Brieanne Buckey, Stewardess/ Deckhand- Bri grew up on Jamestown Island across the bridge from Newport, RI, where she naturally fell in love with the ocean, and boats. After a stint in the Hawaiian islands, she moved to the Virgin Islands to be close to her first love, warm ocean waters. Drawn to the yachts in the harbor she took a job on a charter boat and has not looked back. Unlike most charter crew Bri threw in a couple of interesting side gigs, commercial salmon fishing in Alaska, and earning her Coast Guard captain’s license for up to six passengers. Look out, Captain Justin. She has rounded out her guest service experience with several years working in restaurants and hotels and truly loves to make sure Eros’s charter guests’ expectations are exceeded every minute they are on board. Bri also prides herself on her excellent mixology skills.

Yacht Charter Costs Explained

A comprehensive breakdown of your charter costs and fees.

When you begin planning a luxury yacht charter it is important to be aware of what is included in the cost of booking your dream charter yacht. although a yacht will have a base charter fee, this may or may not include additional expenses such as food and fuel and this is subject to the terms and conditions within the charter contract. there are various types of charter contracts and which one applies to you will depend on where you wish to cruise., high season.

High season refers to the most popular weeks of the year for yacht charter, whether it’s the winter period in the Caribbean or the height of summer in the Mediterranean , booking in high season requires early planning, determination and a big budget. In addition, planning a yacht charter to coincide with a major event will also be reflected in the price with marine spots for elite events often booking up early. Allow plenty of time when making enquiries to ensure a star studded, well prepared arrival.

Low season typically refers to any time outside of the high season periods. Groups of families and friends looking for a relaxing luxury vacation are advised to avoid high season weeks and opt for weeks outside of this time. The busiest periods are of course reflected in the charter costs and can be up to 15 to 30 percent more expensive than typical low season periods. Chartering a few weeks either side of these busy periods can be almost exactly the same, with the weather almost unchanged in some places, with far less crowds.

This article will go into detail of the costs to be expected when planning and booking a yacht charter. From the base charter fee of a yacht, what is covered within the fee and how it may vary in addition to details of contracts and how an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) can be used to manage any expenses.

Base Charter Fee

The base charter fee in essence refers to the hire cost of the yacht itself, with all equipment in working order in addition to the cost of food and wages for the crew during the entirety of the charter. This is essentially all the base charter fee covers with additional expenses often applicable on top. The base charter fee will vary from one yacht to another and this may be down to any number of reasons from size and on board amenities to the charter season. For instance, the base rate of a charter yacht may increase in "high season" and reduce during the "low season". "High season" and "low season" refers to the busiest and slowest periods for yacht charters though this may appear misleading, as these peak times refer to periods of weeks as opposed to full seasons. In addition, you may find that a yacht is also more expensive during special events such as the Monaco Grand Prix, Cannes Film Festival and America's Cup. Unless you are keen to charter a yacht for a particular "high season" event, choose your dates carefully as although a "high season" rate will be more expensive than the "low season" the two can sometimes share much of the same weather conditions.

Aside from seasons and events, yachts of the same size may also differ in price and this may be down to a vast difference in on board amenities. A yacht which boasts an on board cinema or lavish water toys may have a higher base rate compared with a yacht of minimal amenities of the same size. If it is unclear as to why two yachts of the same size are vastly different in price, ask your yacht broker to explain what the differences are. Once you are clear on what the base price is and why, it is important to discover what costs will be applicable on top and this is dependent on the type of charter contract used.

The type of charter contract applicable to your charter will depend on where in the world you are cruising, as there are various terms within the industry which dictate how the payment structure is determined. For instance, a MYBA (Worldwide Yachting Association, formerly known as Mediterranean Yacht Brokers Association) contract operates under Western Mediterranean Terms (WMT) and is arguably the most commonly used, particularly with large yachts embarking on a Mediterranean yacht charter. This contract is often referred to as a "plus all expenses" contract and requires that the charterer pay for fuel, food, beverages and dockage fees as an additional expense outside of the base charter fee. Typically, guests can accumulate an additional 25% to 50% of the base charter fee though this is dependent on what is consumed. These expenses can be tracked through the use of an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) which we will cover in the next section.

Alternatively, smaller yachts on a Caribbean yacht charter can expect a "mostly all-inclusive" contract known as Caribbean Terms Inclusive (CTI) sometimes referred to as Standard Caribbean Terms (SCT). The Standard Caribbean Terms greatly differ from Western Mediterranean Terms, as the Caribbean terms include three meals a day in addition to four hours cruising per day which is included in the base charter fee.

In addition to the commonly used MYBA terms and Standard Caribbean Terms, there are also less frequently used terms such as Standard Eastern Mediterranean Terms (SEMT) and Greek Terms (GI). Advance Provisioning Allowance (commonly referred to as APA)

Irrespective of the charter contract it is important for guests to be aware of the Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA). The APA was designed to enable charterers to manage their expenses through a clear and trackable arrangement. An APA is a way to deposit the estimated expense amount of your charter to cover costs such as fuel, food and dockage fees. Typically, the APA accrues to approximately 25% to 30% of the base charter fee, though this does of course depend on the charter parties tastes and requirements and could be far less or far greater than this estimation. For instance, charter guests who intend to regularly dine on caviar and vintage wine can expect to pay more, whereas guests on board a sailing yacht charter can expect to save on fuel costs. Charterers can request an estimated APA amount from the yacht broker based on their on board expectations.

The APA is to be paid approximately one month prior to boarding the charter yacht and is paid directly to the Captain of the yacht. Once the APA has been paid to the captain it will then be retained as a bank account of sorts, from which the captain can make expenditures whilst keeping a record of what has been spent. At any point during the yacht charter guests can request a rundown of accounts from the captain as a way of keeping track of expenditures. The captain will request that any additional funds are paid during the charter should guests exceed the APA. It is therefore a good idea to keep an additional account with your yacht broker on shore, as should the APA become critically low at any time the yacht broker can release additional funds to the captain on the charterers command. Cash can be used if necessary though an on shore account may be deemed as hassle free to some.

It is important to remember that food and fuel for example, are charged at cost without mark up to the charterer and upon disembarking, transactions can be reviewed by the "head" charterer and Captain with any remaining funds to be paid back to the charterer.

Fuel and Dockage Fees

It is important to remember that whilst considering fuel costs, the fuel consumed when using jet-skis and tenders will also apply to the charterer. In addition, whilst docked at a marina the generators used in order to produce electricity will also use fuel. The distance travelled and speed of cruising also affects fuel costs and it is important to bear these factors in mind. Dockage fees may vary from very little to large sums and this is dependent again upon the location and whether you wish to dock during a special event such as the Monaco Grand Prix.

Although insurance costs are not directly connected to the charter costs as such, it is useful to bear in mind should you with to take out Charterers Liability Insurance or Cancellation and Curtailment cover. Value Added Tax (VAT)

European Union (EU) tax laws state VAT will apply should you disembark within their waters, for example Italian territorial waters. This may also apply to some Caribbean islands. Commercially registered vessels are usually VAT exempt though vessels which are not commercially registered will be liable for VAT for all charters within the EU.

No request is too large or detail too small on a yacht charter though it is wise to keep in mind the shipping costs should you request an expensive bottle of champagne to be transported to you whilst you are residing in a secluded bay of the Caribbean. It is important to understand the entire payment structure to ensure no unpleasant surprises arise and it is often prudent to keep an escrow account with your broker on shore in order to control charter costs without having to carry cash on board.
