Mali Havana is an exceptional sailing catamaran with 3 beautifully decorated queen cabins each with private ensuite baths including electric heads, vanity, separate showers and individual A/C.
She offers multiple areas to relax or sip a cocktail and enjoy the beautiful scenic of the Caribbean! The wide luxurious cockpit offers alfresco dining for 6 guests. The well-decorated salon will seat all guests in comfort for lounging or dining. Enjoy the lounge area beside the helm station or the forward lower deck lounge area behind trampolines.
With numerous areas to unwind, there is plenty of space for gathering as a group or finding a private place to really relax.

Captain: Nick Nelson
Chef/First Mate: Maddy Brown
Nick has been closely connected to water his entire life, growing up on a small island on Lake Superior. He started driving boats at age 11 and has been in love with cruising waves ever since. He went on to get his captain’s license and began guiding tours in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore on power boat and kayak trips, eventually moving on to sailing charters.
In the off-season Nick would often escape on his sailboat seeking warmer waters; completing the Great Loop and twice sailing to Cuba and the Bahamas and eventually running term charter in the Virgin Islands.
Living and working on the water provides the trifecta of endless novelty, challenges and rewards. For Nick there’s no better way to keep life simple yet interesting at every turn, to slow life down and fill it up. Captaining has allowed Nick to meet and share life with people all over the world and he looks forward to continuing to bring his excitement for life to every charter in the Virgin Islands. ..read more
Madeline (Maddy) brings an adventurous spirit to everything she does. She’s studied abroad, worked and lived in Mexico, Puerto Rico, France & Cuba. While living in Puerto Rico she had the opportunity to sail around the USVI’s and BVI’s. She fell in love immediately with all of the wonders that the Caribbean has to offer.
She has an affinity for Caribbean culture and history and has a passion for cooking and hosting culinary experiences. Besides sailing, Madeline earned her Master of Fine Art in Photography while collaborating with artists in San Francisco and Cuba. She is eager to continue to explore the Caribbean, run term charters and share in all it has to offer.
Nick and Madeline have traveled widely together, traversing the U.S. on road trips, sailing to Cuba and living in Havana several winters collaborating on artistic endeavors and running term charters. They both have worked widely in the hospitality industry and love to host friends new and old. As a team they couldn’t be more excited to make Mali Havanna their new home away from home” for all to explore the countless wonders of a Virgin Islands odyssey.

Sheri and I have been calling this trip ´the trip of a lifetime´ while we were planning it but nothing could have prepared us for the experience created on the Mali Havana with Nick and ever delightful Maddy. Nick made it easy for us to have the total experience. Complete with paddleboarding, the most incredible snorkeling locations and ports. Sheri even had an island named after her. Maddy prepared the most incredible meals and snakes making sure to cater to our likes and allergies.... I don´t know that I´ve ever had such consistently delicious and beautifully prepared meals on any vacation! The time on and off the boat was nothing short of spectacular. We even got in a little friendly competition with a game of spades. We will never forget this week we had together. Thank you, really....thank you.
A Trip Never To Forget
Words cannot express how much I enjoyed our time aboard Mali Havana with Nick and Maddy. Maddy is an incredible chef. Every meal was unbelievably good and beautifully presented. Nick was calm, cool and collected, not to mention patient with all of us badering him with questions! With Karaoke, swimming with turtles, catching fish, exploration and plenty of Bushwackers, this has been a trip I hope never to forget.

This trip has truly been a once in a lifetime experience. From the incredible people, beautiful places and delicious food. I will forever be grateful for the Mali Havana and the incredible crew aboard - Nick and Maddy - for giving me and my family such a great trip!! I will truly cherish these memories.

We Got The Best Crew
What an unforgettable adventure! Not only exploring the islands but you guys made all the time spent chilling on the boat an incredible experience as well. So, so grateful for this crew for absolutely making this trip, from snorkeling the wreck of the Rhone to the best damn karaoke concert the BVI´s have ever seen. We definitely got the best crew we could have asked for and the food was amazing!!! Not only delicious but always beautifully plated. Thanks so much to the both of you for the laughs, the incredible stories, entertaining our seemingly endless barrage of questions and for making this trip one I will never forget. Perfect Balance of Relaxation and Fun
Thank you Nick and Maddy, for such an amazing week! EVERY meal was absolutely delicious and our days were planned perfectly with secluded snorkeling spots, fun bars and nice restaurants. It was the perfect balance of relaxation and fun. We can´t thank you enough for such a memorable trip and hope to sail with you again.
Enriched, Nourished and Enlightened
Thank you Nick, and Maddy, for giving us a pirate´s treasure of memories to carry home with us. The week on the Mali Havana was a bounty of experiences, of unforgettable moments. The sea offered us sightings of turtles, sleeping sharks, starfish, eagle rays, southern rays, dancing lobsters and a vast rainbow of curious fish. Maddy is a culinary genius, producing one delectable meal after another from a shipshape galley. Nick, our faithful and trusted captain, brought us through sunny days, high winds and rain with finesse. And above all, we shall delight in the recollection of the good spirits, laughter, interesting conversations and kindness that we shared with Nick and Maddy and our dear friends. We end this journey enriched by the wanders we have seen, nourished by the natural healing of the sun and the sea, enlightened by time with old friends and new. It was a magical time and in a world that often feels fragile, this experience is a lovely reminder of all that is beautiful and meaningful. Thank you Nick and Maddy. We will hold you close until we meet again.
Heavenly Week Aboard
Our last day onboard after the most heavenly week sailing. The weather was beautiful and then became very windy and rainy and exciting. We had faith in our brilliant captain who handled the boat with such skill while Maddy concocted unbelievable meals which we so engaged. Thank you both for being such fun, working so hard and giving us a week we will never forget. Let´s hope we will all meet up again.
Most Perfect Honeymoon
AMAZING!!!!! What an incredible trip! It was a dream come true for us and every bit of our experience did not disappoint. The most perfect honeymoon that we could have hoped for! Every moment was exciting and relaxing at the same time. Thank you for making this such a memorable time for us and taking great care of us while we were at sea. I could name so many of my favorite activities but I´ll only mention a few. Absolutely loved swimming with sea turtles and all the other snorkel sites we went to! Especially The Caves and The Indians and the Shark Planes and the spot off Peter Island. The coral was so vibrant and we got to see so many cool fish and creatures like the stingray and the moray eel. Also loved the cool bars like Willie T´s and Soggy Dollar. Each morning when we woke up, Maddy had our coffee ready which was the perfect way to start each day. We were so spoiled by all the delicious meals and all the tasty cocktails! We tried quite a few Pain Killers at various locations, so we feel confident when we say that Maddy´s Pain Killer, HANDS DOWN, was the best. To wrap it all up, the carrot cake for Tony´s birthday was the perfect celebration treat.

Thank you both so much for a great trip. This was a beautiful long waiting catamaran trip. The amazing views, the great meals. You both made our trip amazing. Can´t wait to try out some of your recipes. The snorkeling was spectacular!

Thank you for a trip of a lifetime. This entire experience has been exceptional. You both are amazing and anticipated Our needs and made us feel right at home. We appreciate your expertise as Captain Mike and Chef Julie. Food was 5 star restaurant every meal! Your knowledge of the sea and the islands helped ensure a safe and memorable journey. So many adventures laughs and wonderful memories. The Sea Dog, Mike and Julie, will forever be remembered as one of our favorite trips.

Thank you for our wonderful Christmas/Big Birthday vacation! You took great care of us, each through your amazing knowledge and expertise and with your good humour and natural friendliness. As noted, not one of us can remember ever eating so much GOOD food for a whole week! Each mooring we visited will hold unique memories for all of us: the magical pod of dolphins swimming and playing along with us, the tens of thousands of butterflies floating and fluttering over Virgin Gorda, the sea turtles, the beautiful creatures and plants in the reefs. These we will never forget. Our hearts are lighter for all the laughter, our minds and bodies relaxed and restored and our love of each other strengthened from this time together in paradise with you. P.S. Thank you for welcoming us with openness, laughter and for allowing your personalities to guide our experience here with you. Your authenticity made this an experience I could truly be present for - it was a joy to meet you.
You Are The Best!
What a fantastic 10 days we´ve had on the Mali Havana - it honestly could not have been a better way to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Nick and Maddy - you are the best! - accommodating and super fun. You wore Sam out (never easy), fed us WAY too well (Jimmie´s goal to get shredded wasn´t helped by the delicious food, but that was a very fair trade), made Anna´s 27th birthday special and made all of us feel at home.
By Far Our Best Charter!
On behalf of the Raydales and the Boykins we had a fantastic time with you on Big Nauti. This is now our third charter and by far the best! You both take pride in what you do and it comes through in an exceptional experience for your guests. We are thankful for you. The food was great and just right for the trip. This is the Way To Do It!
A trip of a lifetime! For my first trip to the Caribbean, this was the way to do it!. Ten days aboard the Mali Havanna was a great experience. Sailing, Cruising, drinking, eating, snorkeling and simply relaxing. The food was excellent and the crew was a joy to hang with. The tour of the islands has been magnificent. Captain Nick and Chef Maddy checked all the boxes on our bucket list.
When I die, I hope to wake up in heaven - which will be, by my design, a sailboat. Nick and Maddy will be the captain and crew. I´ve been thinking of this as a trip of a lifetime and it has certainly met that expectation - and more. It has been amazing to be with my soul-mate and two good friends - the laughter and conversations and 5 star food, all served up so beautifully and with enthusiasm. The turtles and sea life are things I will never forget. Thank you, so much for all of it. Thanks again for the trip of a lifetime - maybe just one of many.
New Friends We Meet!
Totally, totally enjoyed the week with you guys. We felt comfotable in every experience and the food was awesome. Borrowing a sentiment from a previous review, this week has fed our souls. We have enjoyed reconnecting with each other and with nature. We couldn´t have asked for a better family vacation. Nick you have been such a gracious host our our rowdy crew - thank you for showing us the Virgin Islands and your attention to keeping everyone safe. Matt is a USCG licensed Captain with two decades of professional experience on sailing and motor yachts up to 114ft. on the Atlantic & Pacific, throughout the Bahamas, the Caribbean, and the Mediterranean Sea. He has sailed over 68,000 nautical miles, crossed the Atlantic twice, raced in many regattas and lived aboard his yachts in the US Virgin Islands since 2003. Originally from Massachusetts, Matt’s family traces their lineage back to the Mayflower and has strong generational maritime ties in New England. He grew up spending summers on Cape Cod, where he learned to sail from a young age aboard his family’s boats. In his early years in the Virgin Islands, Matt broadened his nautical knowledge base by working in a shipyard, and subsequently a sail-loft. He has lived in and around National Parks most of his life, has a background in wilderness search & rescue and emergency medicine, worked as a ski instructor at Vail Resorts, as well as a kayak guide and naturalist in the US Virgin Islands National Park. He attended university with a focus in Japanese ceramics and bronze casting and holds a black belt in traditional Tae Kwon-Do. Tmana is a talented professional chef who originally hails from the coast of Maine where her family operates a thriving New England seafood catering business. She draws diverse culinary inspiration from her travels abroad in Europe, the Bahamas and Caribbean, not to mention her New England roots. Tmana truly enjoys providing exceptional and inventive cuisine to all who find a seat at her table and has a penchant for creating pastries, desserts and baked goods. Also an accomplished sailor, Tmana has sailed over 5,000 nautical miles including several offshore multi-day passages, sometimes while hand-steering on solo watches. She possesses a comprehensive understanding of yacht maintenance, resource management, provisioning, weather routing, and navigation. Matt & Tmana were married in the Virgin Islands on their adopted island home of St. John in 2015. They honeymooned by sailing from Florida to the Virgin Islands on a 6 month cruise through the Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and the Spanish Virgin Islands. Introduced by DMA Yachting, the breathtaking charter yacht Mali Havana is a 45 ft sailing catamaran. The key elements of Mali Havana are her generous space and alfresco dining areas. Mali Havana spends the summer and winter season in British Virgin Islands. She was completed by the famous yacht builder Fountaine Pajot in 2023. The expansive yacht layout features 3 large cabins and easily accommodates a group of 6 guests.
Mali Havana is introduced primarily as a sailing catamaran. The yacht layout radiates from the main saloon, which connects to the aft deck. The aft deck is where heart of the yacht is and that's where most of the meals are served. The immersive cabins are located below the main saloon, connected by stairs (inquire about handicapped access). The cabins offer designer mattrace beds and feature ensuite bathrooms. Multiple portholes offer desirable views, while providing privacy if needed.

MEET THE CREW: Captain: Nick Nelson Chef/First Mate: Maddy Brown Nick has been closely connected to water his entire life, growing up on a small island on Lake Superior. He started driving boats at age 11 and has been in love with cruising waves ever since. He went on to get his captain’s license and began guiding tours in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore on power boat and kayak trips, eventually moving on to sailing charters. In the off-season Nick would often escape on his sailboat seeking warmer waters; completing the Great Loop and twice sailing to Cuba and the Bahamas and eventually running term charter in the Virgin Islands. Living and working on the water provides the trifecta of endless novelty, challenges and rewards. For Nick there’s no better way to keep life simple yet interesting at every turn, to slow life down and fill it up. Captaining has allowed Nick to meet and share life with people all over the world and he looks forward to continuing to bring his excitement for life to every charter in the Virgin Islands. Madeline (Maddy) brings an adventurous spirit to everything she does. She’s studied abroad, worked and lived in Mexico, Puerto Rico, France & Cuba. While living in Puerto Rico she had the opportunity to sail around the USVI’s and BVI’s. She fell in love immediately with all of the wonders that the Caribbean has to offer. She has an affinity for Caribbean culture and history and has a passion for cooking and hosting culinary experiences. Besides sailing, Madeline earned her Master of Fine Art in Photography while collaborating with artists in San Francisco and Cuba. She is eager to continue to explore the Caribbean, run term charters and share in all it has to offer. Nick and Madeline have traveled widely together, traversing the U.S. on road trips, sailing to Cuba and living in Havana several winters collaborating on artistic endeavors and running term charters. They both have worked widely in the hospitality industry and love to host friends new and old. As a team they couldn’t be more excited to make Mali Havanna their new “home away from home” for all to explore the countless wonders of a Virgin Islands odyssey.

She’s studied abroad, worked and lived in Mexico, Puerto Rico, France & Cuba. While living in Puerto Rico she had the opportunity to sail around the USVI’s and BVI’s.
