The Sunreef 80 is an all-around luxury sailing catamaran , ideal for exclusive getaways, charter, and transoceanic adventures. This model boasts a combination of exterior and interior areas easily flowing into one another. The clever bridge deck and superstructure design allow for a superior level of comfort onboard, whereas the generous teak use, high bulwarks, and classy lines underscore her modern style with a classic edge.

With a completely fresh superstructure concept, this electric sailing catamaran gains a saloon plan with an outstanding potential for customization. A vast, central lounging space with a panoramic view and endless layout possibilities, it opens both onto the bow terrace and cockpit. The bow benefits from its cozy lounge that is well shielded from sun and wind.

To the aft, the saloon merges with the generous cockpit which is further extended by a large aft platform for carrying the tender. All the areas combined form a universal, open environment where flexibility and freedom reign. While housing the main helm, the 54m² flybridge is dedicated to leisure with more than enough space for movable furniture, a jacuzzi, fully equipped wet bar, a barbecue station, and large sunpads.

The hulls provide impressive volumes to set up a custom layout including airy, luxurious guest cabins, and an opulent master suite with a walk-in dressing, desk, sofa, retractable TV, and an immense bathroom. A perfect setting to unwind and relax after a long day in the sun.

Sunreef shows off gorgeous 80-foot solar electric luxury yacht ahead of US debut this month

Eco-responsible shipbuilder Sunreef Yachts had given the public its first glimpse of its new 80-foot solar electric yacht before it makes it US debut in Fort Lauderdale, Florida later this month. The 80 Sunreef Power Eco is a fully-electric luxury catamaran that could very well be one of the most advanced solar electric yachts built to date.

Sunreef Yachts was established in 2002 in Gdansk, Poland where its shipyard and office still operates in addition to a presence in the the UAE. A year into its existence, the company was touting the launch of the world’s first 74-foot luxury oceangoing catamaran with a flybridge and has been innovating ever since.

Today over 140 Sunreef Yachts are sailing waters across the globe, and the shipbuilders clientele includes Tennis great Rafael Nadal , plus F1 champions Fernando Alonso and Nico Rosberg. As the company looks to delve further into electrification, its latest vessel – the 80 Sunreef Power Eco has already garnered a German Design Award 2023.

To be clear, I'm not a boater and not fond of being on water that much. In my younger days, I did have a couple boats and was on the Mississippi quite a lot as well as a larger lake in NW IL. The thing that I recall not so fondly was the smells and fuels, putting fuel in them, the spills in the water, the nasty exhaust fumes and film in/on the water, etc. That's always bothered me and I feel that the boating industry may be one of the dirtiest as for pollution along with motorcycles. The fact that boats spend so much time baking in the sun makes them totally great for solar.

So I'm happy and grateful for the fact that boats and motorcycles seem to be moving well into the EV power and using renewable energy as well. It gives me hope for the future where people can still enjoy recreational activities while greatly reducing emissions.

In addition to the new images of 80 Sunreef Power Eco above, we’ve learned that its makers are already declaring the solar yacht “world’s most advanced electric luxury catamaran,” due in large part to is emission-free in-house technology.

The 80-foot vessel is propelled by two 360 kW motors, powered by a massive 990 kWh battery bank. Sunreef says these custom-engineered banks offer an energy density less than 5.2 kg per kWh, nearly 30% lighter than the typical systems most commonly used in the yachting world today.

What may be most impressive about this electric yacht is Sunreef’s 36 kWp composite-integrated solar panels, which have been seamless placed along the catamaran’s hulls, bimini roof, and superstructure. Sunreef describes the technology as a “solar skin” around the yacht.

The interior features 4 luxury cabins and customizable layout to comfortably sleep eight guests. unfortunately, that’s all Sunreef is sharing about the 80 Power Eco at the moment, but the public can learn more at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show , taking place October 25-29. Description.

With a bold, contemporary hull styling, the  80 Sunreef Power  Aria incorporates classic stainless steel portlights, teak sole decks, high bulwarks, and subtle ambience lighting. The motor yacht’s dynamic hull and superstructure stretch the living spaces to the extreme, offering infinite options for a bespoke layout and décor.

Easily accessed from the saloon, the power catamaran ’s full-beam bow terrace is a vast, soothing retreat with ample space for sunning and lounging. The main saloon opens wide onto the aft cockpit to combine the yacht’s interior dining space with the outdoor relaxation areas, where more seating is available along with a wet bar.

This 80 Sunreef Power has two 1200HP engines and a three-cabin layout including one sumptuous master suite. The megayacht -worthy flybridge of the power catamaran boasts a spa pool, a bar, and oversized sunpads. Additionally, she is equipped with a garage with an innovative system for launching the jet ski.

Boat Description

The 80 Sunreef Power Eco is the avant-garde of eco-responsible motor-yachts. Powered by 4 electric motors with up to 720 KW of power with a top speed of 15kts.  Power can be provided by up to 1 Megawatt of proprietary chemistry battery bank that charges quickly in a couple hours and has a lifespan of 15 years.  Power is provided by the solar skin, shore power or generator as needed.   On anchor without any charging source all the house systems can operate silently for up to 4.5 days. 

This is fully-customizable luxury catamaran can be configured for personal or charter layouts, and galley up or down.   It utalizes the latest innovations in the industry to achieve outstanding energy efficiency. Thanks to Sunreef Yachts’ light and ultramodern solar power system producing up to 34 KW of power per day light hour, the 80 Sunreef Power maximizes solar energy generation capacity.

The electric catamaran is fitted with a state of the art, ultralight battery bank (30% lighter than the average batteries used in the nautical industry) with a density of less than 5.2kg / kWh for increased weight-efficiency and performance.

The fully-electric 80 Sunreef Power provides for silent cruising and long range with electric motors powered from the dedicated battery bank. 

Green features on board include a high voltage DC-powered air conditioning system, a water-making and purifying system to generate drinking water, a non-toxic bottom paint. A fully customizable luxury craft, the 80 Sunreef Power electric catamaran offers infinite décor possibilities and access to a broad selection of ethically-sourced and eco-responsible finishing materials.

The first Sunreef 80 launched, the 7X Split, is easily spotted from afar thanks to her graphite-colored hull that is striking in appearance. She sports a spacious 4-cabin layout, including a spectacular master stateroom, occupying most of the starboard hull along with the guest cabin. With a deliberately dim color scheme, the master suite features a massive bed, a desk, a sofa, and a dressing room hidden behind a custom-designed decorative partition. Last month, Rafael Nadal received his fully custom Sunreef 80 Power and things appear to be going swimmingly. The Polish shipyard has released pictures of the 34-year-old tennis pro aboard the luxury catamaran and he’s smiling like he just won a grand slam. That’s because, in the marine world, he did. Great White represents an ace in high-end multihulls.

Nadal first commissioned the 80-footer back in July 2019. The ultra-modern cruiser was specially designed for the current World No. 2 and his wife Maria by the Sunreef team. The all-rounder combines five-star comfort with exceptional seaworthiness and has an epic interior fit for a tennis king.

The yacht’s sizeable living space spans just shy of 4,000 square feet and is one of the largest in class. It has been fully decked out with no expense spared to the exacting standards of keen yachting enthusiast Rafa. The centerpiece is a stunning master stateroom, which features a flip-down ceiling TV above the bed, a walk-in wardrobe, a plush sofa and a private fold-out balcony where the Spaniard can catch some rays. The craft can sleep up to eight guests in total across three roomy cabins and a starboard owner’s suite. Of course, there’s also room for crew.

Elsewhere, there’s a generous light-filled saloon complete with luxe contemporary furnishings, a dining space that seats eight people, and a lounge area with two 77-inch televisions installed back-to-back for obligatory tennis watching.

Outside, meanwhile, Great White has a full-beam alfresco dining space at the stern with its own weatherproof TV and a luxurious flybridge where guests can lounge about on big sun pads and enjoy a bar and yet another pop-up TV. She also sports a wide hydraulic swim platform that offers an extra sunbathing spot by the water, plus an aft garage that holds jet-skis, water toys and a requisite tender.

As to be expected, the cat’s exteriors are as equally impressive. Built in composite, Great White sports a sleek silhouette and clean lines for which Sunreef is renowned. She’s fitted with two 1,200 hp engines that help her run like a star athlete and give a top speed of 24 knots or cruise speed of 14 knots.
