The Vision 444 has been built by sailors for sailors and there are key elements on the Vision 444 to be highlighted:

All the decks are level and clear of ropes, giving you the confidence to move around safely.

The mainsheet bridle system is easy and safe to use in conjunction with the self tacking jib.

The balance between the main and jib sails are perfect.

The rudders are calibrated to work in conjunction with sails meaning there is no stalling in tacks or general turning. The Vision 444 can get through a tack with hardly any speed loss.

A unique access door system in the cockpit gunwale allows easy access from the dock to board the Vision 444, and it also makes it easy to replenish from a tender.

The Vision 444 has a dedicated locker system in the port and starboard hulls. Large, easily accessible storage allows you to open one door to access all your through-hull fittings and pumps, in one contained area.

The engine rooms are easy to access. Lift up the lid (with the mattress) like a car bonnet and pull out the locking lever-stay to secure. There is a dedicated seat to sit on when working on the engine and dedicated tools in each engine room which makes servicing a pleasure.

The Vision 444 navigation station faces forward which is a great feature when making passage. Sitting in this area you get a clear view looking forward, so when you’re filling in logs you can still keep an eye on the ocean.

The unbelievably spacious cockpit has numerous large lockers that can store cockpit cushions, fishing rods and even short surfboards.

The diesel engines and the generator can easily be removed through the hatches and locker lids. This is a huge benefit if a problem occurs. Engines can be removed without disassembling the vessel.

Motor, Performance and Power options

In building the Vision 444 we have selected the optimum components which work seamlessly with each other, delivering both a superbly tuned catamaran yacht and an intuitive and user-friendly environment. It is this insight into what makes a perfect yacht, that makes the Vision 444 so much more than the sum of its parts.

The Vision 444 has the ideal weight-distributed engine placement (beneath the aft cabins), which allows for easier access, more space to work and ample lighting while performing maintenance or repairs at sea. Additionally, the engine position is much safer as there is no chance of it being swept overboard or the engine compartment being swamped by a wave. Even its electrical system is innovative.

The Vision 444 has a state-of-the-art 24v DC system which is as easy to maintain as it is to understand. The lightweight installation has convenient access points throughout the yacht which enables you to identify the source of any electrical problem, in the unlikely event you ever have one. The system is simple and effective, and you don’t need an electrical degree to keep it in perfect order.

Composite Strength

A sense of certainty in any sailing vessel begins with strength. We use an innovative resin infusion and gel-coat technology to form the Vision 444’s durable hulls. Decks are extra-tough while still maintaining impressive performance due to the weight-saving process.

Built by sailors for sailors, the Vision 444 was inspired, according to the builder, by thousands of miles spent at sea understanding the demands of a vessel and her crew, years of experience building custom catamarans, and a passion to produce the perfect bluewater cruiser. Boatbuilder James Turner and Vision Yachts have created this 44’4” lightweight performance vessel with unique features and an impressive standard inventory that sets this catamaran above the rest.

The Vision 444 is constructed with an innovative resin infusion technology with all support struts and davits made from advanced composite and integrated into the hull to create a strong yet lightweight vessel. Key features of the 444 suggest that form follows function. All furniture is structurally bonded to the hull in an ergonomic design. Midship service lockers in each hull offer easy access to shut-off valves, filters, sea strainers, and pumps. Two bilges line each hull, one in the service locker and one in the engine room. Fuel line hoses and electrical wiring have their own dedicated conduits. The lithium ion batteries are under the salon seats, and the engines are under the bunks, allowing safe and easy access. A bench seat in the engine room with dedicated tools, storage for spare parts, ventilation, and lighting make servicing the engines a breeze. Access to the rudder system is in the starboard stern locker. Every locker has ample space for access or storage, and a room in the starboard bow (accessed through the master shower walk-through) contains a complete work bench with a vice and additional storage. And, exhale…

The interior is equally functional, and with a healthy dollop of form mixed in. All windows and hatches in the salon provide superb vision of the horizon. From the forward-facing navigation station in the salon, GPS can link up to the TV for a Spielberg-sized chart-plotter display. Flooring is flush throughout and an L-shaped door between the cockpit and salon doubles the space while open and offers an alfresco ambiance. In the salon, the U-shaped settee is standard with leather. Windows are single-panel flat glass. All vertical finishes are quarter sawn reconstructed oak veneer with an oil finish, which is easy to maintain or to replace without matching wood grains if needed. Quartz composite countertops with stainless steel refrigerator/freezer and all high-end appliances surrounded by stainless grab rails throughout yield a dual sense of openness and safety when underway.

On deck, the side access door is great for boarding, loading and accessibility. Wide, level decks are clear of all running rigging, and the flush mount hatches allow the crew to move around safely. Two standard electric winches and running rigging led back to the helm provide ease of operation for single-handed sailing. The mainsheet bridle system (eliminating the traveler and tracks) is simple to use in conjunction with the self-tacking jib. Atkinson’s-theory-calibrated rudders help to maintain drive when tacking and jibing. The working helm seating for two has a commanding position with a view over both bows and 360-degree visibility.

The deck sole in the cockpit, and on the side decks and foredeck is EVA foam padding, a UV resistant material that is resilient—like a high-quality yoga mat with grip. The cockpit has ample seating with a large teak table. Stainless steel tubing that retracts into the transom bulkhead provides additional safety at sea.

Cabinets Dedicated to Specific Tasks

~24V DC House battery bank Lithium ion (LiFePo4) – (620Ah – 16kWh) consists of 4x single units to create the pack that fits under the saloon  seats.

~Diesel propulsion engines provide house bank charge input while running – 24V 75A each (150A 24VDC combined) via dedicated high duty cycle  alternators. This charge input ,with engines running, provide AC load capability without running the house bank flat(standard setup primary  charge  input)

Each engine uses a 12V starter system which also powers the blowers for heat removal from engine bays.

~Shorepower input (120V 60Hz / 240V 50Hz) for worldwide plugin provides house bank charge via Victron isolation transformer using Victron  multiplus inverter/chargers.

Everything On Hand

The Vision 444 has been built by sailors for sailors and there are key elements on the Vision 444 to be highlighted:  All the decks are level and clear of ropes, giving you the confidence to move around safely.  The mainsheet bridle system is easy and safe to use in conjunction with the self tacking jib.  The balance between the main and jib sails are perfect.  The rudders are calibrated to work in conjunction with sails meaning there is no stalling in tacks or general turning. The Vision 444 can get through a tack with hardly any speed loss.  A unique access door system in the cockpit gunwale allows easy access from the dock to board the Vision 444, and it also makes it easy to replenish from a tender.

The Vision 444 has a dedicated locker system in the port and starboard hulls. Large, easily accessible storage allows you to open one door to access all your through-hull fittings and pumps, in one contained area.  The engine rooms are easy to access. Lift up the lid (with the mattress) like a car bonnet and pull out the locking lever-stay to secure. There is a dedicated seat to sit on when working on the engine and dedicated tools in each engine room which makes servicing a pleasure.

The Vision 444 navigation station faces forward which is a great feature when making passage. Sitting in this area you get a clear view looking forward, so when you’re filling in logs you can still keep an eye on the ocean.  The unbelievably spacious cockpit has numerous large lockers that can store cockpit cushions, fishing rods and even short surfboards.

The diesel engines and the generator can easily be removed through the hatches and locker lids. This is a huge benefit if a problem occurs. Engines can be removed without disassembling the vessel.

At the recent Palma Boat Show, MBY deputy editor Jack Haines took the chance to tour the new Vision F80 powercat…

One of the standout boats at the 2022 Palma Boat Show was the Vision F80, an enormous all-black catamaran from Turkish yard Vision F, who are currently working in partnership with Silent Yachts .

The Vision F80 on display at Palma was fitted with Volvo Penta IPS, but future versions will feature hybrid and electric boat powertrain options.

Our tour starts at the transom with its split bathing platform and hydraulic tender launch platform in the middle.

Once you’re in the cockpit, you really get a sense of the true size of the Vision F80 – with a 30ft beam there’s plenty of room for huge side decks that look like they’ve been borrowed from a bowling alley.

Moving inside, the galley is accessed via its own separate staircase to port, leaving the entire main deck free for a sprawling saloon.

Two more staircases towards the bow lead into the guest accommodation, with the owner’s cabin and a twin cabin to starboard, plus two further cabins to port.

Additional toy storage is offered on the foredeck – there is more than enough room for a Williams jet tender and a jetski, which can be launched via a deck crane.

But arguably, the star of the show is the vast flybridge , which boasts acres of entertaining space, more than enough to fit a hot tub should you require.

New York company admits it illegally sold Chinese-made equipment to US military

NEW YORK (Tribune News Service) — A Long Island man has pleaded guilty to illegally selling Chinese-manufactured security and surveillance equipment to the U.S. military and passing off the wares as American-made — creating potential security risks, according to the feds.

Aventura Inc.’s customers included the Navy, the Air Force and the Department of Energy, but the “Made in USA” labels on their products were a lie — and the products, which included items like networked security turnstiles and night-vision cameras, had known cybersecurity vulnerabilities, prosecutors said.

Feds charged Aventura and the members of its senior management with fraud and other offenses in 2019. All of the individual suspects have already pleaded guilty, and on Tuesday, the company entered a guilty plea in Long Island Federal Court.

As part of the plea, the company will dissolve itself and forfeit more than $3 million in seized assets, including a 70-foot yacht, the Tranquilo, owned by CEO Jack Cabasso and his wife, Frances.

“For years, the defendants, while pretending to be a women-owned business, intentionally corrupted the U.S. military supply chain by passing off Chinese-made networked electronics with known vulnerabilities as American-made,” U.S. Attorney Breon Peace said Tuesday.

Aventura made $112 million in sales revenue between 2008 and 2019, with more than $20 million coming from government contracts, the feds said.

Cabasso, the firm’s owner, took pains to hide the origins of the products it sold, pushing one Chinese company to remove its initials from its circuit boards, the feds allege.

He and another Aventura employee, Wayne Marino, exchanged emails with workers of a Chinese digital video equipment manufacturer, fretting that the Chinese company’s name was visible in server communications.

Aventura built a bogus “lab” to show visitors to its corporate headquarters in Commack, N.Y. Employees would show off a separate, off-limits building, telling visitors classified government work was happening inside. In fact, the company didn’t even own or occupy that building.

Cabasso went as far as emailing a contact with the federal General Services Administration accusing 12 other GSA contractors of selling equipment from a Chinese manufacturer — even though he was importing and reselling goods from that same manufacturer, the feds said.

Aventura’s owner also falsely identified his wife as the company’s CEO in order to present it as a woman-owned small business, which would open the door to more government contracts, according to prosecutors.

Cabasso has a lengthy history of grand larceny and fraud convictions going back to the 1980s and was sentenced to 21 months behind bars in 1992 for tampering with a juror in an earlier federal fraud case against him.

The Cabassos are slated to be sentenced on July 24.

The 59.99m/196'10" motor yacht 'Vision' (ex. Lyana) was built by Benetti in Italy at their Livorno shipyard. Her interior is styled by design house Pierre-Yves Rochon and she was delivered to her owner in July 2011. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Stefano Natucci and she was last refitted in 2014.

Guest Accommodation

Vision has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests in 6 suites comprising one VIP cabin. She is also capable of carrying up to 15 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Onboard Comfort & Entertainment

Her features include satellite communications, gym, deck jacuzzi, WiFi and air conditioning.

Range & Performance

Vision is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks. Powered by twin diesel MTU (12V 4000 M60) 12-cylinder 1,770hp engines running at 1800rpm, she comfortably cruises at 13 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 16 knots with a range of up to 5,000 nautical miles from her 130,000 litre fuel tanks at 12 knots. An advanced stabilisation system on board promises exceptional comfort levels at anchor or on any voyage. Her water tanks store around 20,000 Litres of fresh water. She was built to ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) ✠A1, Yachting Service, ✠AMS classification society rules, and is MCA Compliant.
