John was very accommodating and we were truly surprised by the quality of equipment, after a full day on the lake, we didn't even take on any water. Along with great equipment John was a great renter who wanted to make sure my experience was better than planned. He has found another client who will be a repeat client.

We were so happy with our first time renting from John that we rented again! We let him know beforehand that the boat's anchor rope was wearing thin and he replaced it promptly. He really wants to make sure his customers have a great time and are safe, too. Highly recommend!

If you just need a good, solid fishing boat for a day out on the water, look no further. You can’t beat John’s price! And if you don’t have a hitch, John will bring the boat to one of the lakes not far from his home. He is flexible, kind, and helpful. I highly recommend renting from him!

This could not have been a more perfect experience. We had six adults and six kids (some infants) and the whole crew had the best time. The booking experience was seamless - Megan answered all of our questions instantly. We felt safe - life jackets were provided, and the kids all had the best time. The boat was in perfect condition and we had no issues whatsoever. Beck met us at the dock, texted us beforehand, and the entire process was smooth. For a huge family outing this was perfect and we will book again the next time we are back in the Cities.

Jeff and Erick are fantastic.. I jacked up the prop on their boat. Called them they told me to bring it back to the dock they bright in the trailer pulled the boat out of the water changed the prop and sent us back on our way.. in addition gave us and extra hour.. Fantastic customer service great boat.. So helpful.. These guys are awesome and super cool… can’t say enough..

Captain Bob is the BEST - we put in a pretty last minute request and he was extremely accommodating so we could make the most of our first time up at Lake Minnetonka. The boat is great and drives well. He allowed us to dock closer to our hotel when we were done for the day. He was super communicative and made us feel really comfortable using his boat and out on the lake. We would absolutely rent with Bob again when back in Minnesota!

This 6,700-acre lake near Grand Rapids, MN, is the largest of a series of lakes on the Upper Mississippi River that includes Jay Gould Lake, Little Jay Gould Lake and others. Both of these boat rentals sleep six and include a private bedroom. On all of our houseboat rentals, you’ll love the outdoor deck area that allow you to lounge outside and enjoy nature in Babbitt, near Ely . The lower deck includes a gas grill and patio table, while the upper sun deck is the perfect spot for sunbathing, taking in the beautiful scenery, or enjoying a romantic evening under the stars.

Our larger boat rentals can handle a bigger family or group of friends ready for a vacation in the wilderness. Boat rental #5 is a 42-foot Boatel and with five separate sleeping areas. This boat rental is a popular choice for larger fishing groups. Our newest and most luxurious boat rental is #6, The Four Queens. At 50 feet , this house boat rental features three queen-bed staterooms and one queen-bed couch in a wide body cabin that sleeps eight. Its full kitchen with an island counter, double refrigerator, stove, and microwave will make meal time a snap.

All of our boat rentals include a GPS, generator, and water slide. And there’s no need to leave Fido at home, because we allow pets at no additional charge on all our boat rentals .

How does the boat insurance work?

Boat insurance typically covers loss caused by things such as fire, sinking, storms, and collisions. The extent of the coverage varies depending on the policy.

Do I need my own insurance to rent a boat?

You do not need boat insurance when renting with Boatsetter. Coverage is provided under the Peer-to-Peer Boat Rental Policy, which is underwritten by GEICO Marine Insurance Company. The policy was written from the ground up as a stand-alone recreational boat rental insurance policy covering the period of time that the boat is being rented and is available for all non-commercially insured boats.

Does Boatsetter screen renters?

Yes. We use a system called Cognito to ensure that payment information matches the renter's identity. We also require renters taking out a captained boat to be at least 18 years old and on a bareboat to be at least 25 years old.

Is listing my boat on Boatsetter free?

Yes! Listing a boat is completely free. We only take a commission when your boat is rented. We only make money when you do!

What if I'm not comfortable having a renter drive my boat?

If you are not comfortable having a renter drive your boat, we have an expansive network of licensed and experienced captains. Once your boat is listed, you can filter through our network of captains and favorite captains in your area that you would like to operate your boat.
