Sibelle - 2015

sibelle yacht

Complex simplicity

Sibelle’s exterior lines are by Frank Laupman from Omega architects, assisted in the refinement of the design details by Mikhail Labazov and Andrei Savin from Architectural Bureau A-B Studio. The complex simplicity oxymoron epitomizes in two words the philosophy that led the design team in the development of this project. Sibelle’s elegant exterior lines are emphasized by contrasting bands of wraparound glass that give her a very distinctive look. The exterior lines look like they are running parallel, but in reality they are not! It is all about small adjustments that give an impression of parallelism to the eye.

First impressions

Sibelle is a 50 metre fully custom motor yacht, below 500 Gross Tonnage with an aluminum hull and superstructure. Large enough to offer her owner and his guests everything they need without compromise, whilst being small enough to allow plenty of freedom to anchor in bays with crystal clear water.

Motor Yacht

The revolutionary Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDFH) developed by famous Dutch naval architects Van Oossanen and Associates allows significant improvements in fuel efficiency. Thanks to the FDHF’s low resistance characteristics, YN 16750 can reach a maximum speed of 18,5 knots with only two 1.000kW MTUs installed.

Hence an ocean-crossing range is achieved with minimal fuel capacity; only 45.000 litres are required to comfortably transit the Atlantic, leaving plenty of reserve. Perry van Oossanen, naval architect at VOA, comments: “Modest propeller tunnels have been defined allowing for 1,5m diameter propellers. The hull will be fitted with Quantum XT zero-speed fins, and bilge keels, allowing for a maximum reduction in roll angle when at anchor. The design of the hull, the appendages and the propulsion arrangement have been focused on obtaining the best fuel efficiency possible, without sacrificing performance and comfort when running in waves.” Carrying less fuel also means that the yacht is lighter which further improves efficiency. And the benefits don’t end there; the space saved by having smaller fuel tanks has been reallocated to provide the crew with valuable storage volume under the crew mess.

The cosy and inviting interior décor will be based on the colour contrast between swamp oak panelling and dark joinery details. Ten guests can be accommodated in five cabins. 61 square metres are dedicated to the master suite, traditionally located forward on the main deck, which boasts two separate dressing rooms, each with a private ensuite bathroom. The four guest cabins (two VIP and two twins) all have ensuite bathrooms and are positioned on the lower deck. Beyond their cabins, guests can enjoy 237 square metres of outdoor living space. The main and rescue tenders are placed on the fore deck under way, while the toys are stored in the forward garage. This configuration allows the aft part of the yacht to be used as a large (21,5 square metre) beach club equipped with sauna and hammam. The design of YN 16750 proves that high speed cruising can be achieved without sacrificing either luxury or efficiency.

Heesen launches 50m custom superyacht Sibelle

Boat International has the first photos of the new fully custom 50 metre superyacht launched by Heesen Yachts and christened  Sibelle.

LOA Heesen YN 16750 was built for an experienced owner who, along with his captain, was very hands-on in the conception and build of his all-aluminium, 49.9-metre LOA yacht. The owner chose Frank Laupman of Omega Architects and Mikhail Labazov and Andrei Savin from Architectural Bureau AB Studio to style the exterior, general arrangement and interior decor of Sibelle . Omega Architects was responsible for the exterior and interior design, while AB Studio served as the interior design adviser.

While attracted to the benefits of the innovative and performance-boosting Fast Displacement Hull Form , designed by naval architect Perry Van Oossanen and previously seen on many Heesen yachts including Galactica Star , the owner of Sibelle requested a Fast Displacement Hull Form yacht with a plumb bow.

Heesen describes this as a radical and dramatic design feature to the already ground-breaking, but proven, Fast Displacement Hull Form design. A dedicated study was undertaken to ensure course-keeping could be maintained as well as comfortable sailing in any sea state. This included carrying out tank testing at the Wolfson Unit MTIA, putting a free running self-propelled model through the paces in extreme wave conditions, which proved the course-keeping, comfort and high-performance abilities of the hull design.

Heesen signed the contract for this new 50m explorer superyacht back in 2011. She might not appear to be your typical explorer from her exterior design, but she certainly can be considered such in her performance capabilities. Sibelle can reach a maximum speed of 18.5 knots powered by twin 1,00kW MTU 8V 4000 M63 engines, allowing transatlantic range while burning minimal fuel, leaving plenty in reserve after arriving at the destination. Her range is 3,150 nautical miles at 13 knots.

Perry van Oossanen comments: “The modest propeller tunnel design allows for 1.5-metre diameter propellers. The hull is fitted with Quantum XT zero-speed fins, and bilge keels, offering a maximum reduction in roll angle at anchor. The design of the hull, the appendages and the propulsion arrangement have been focused on obtaining the best fuel efficiency possible without sacrificing performance and comfort when running in waves.”

Sibelle 's exterior is summed up by her designers with the oxymoron: complex simplicity. The exterior lines give the illusion of running in parallel, but in reality it's all about small adjustments that give the impression of parallelism. Simplicity as the ultimate form of luxury defines the interior styling, which is cosy and inviting with bleached teak wood creating strong horizontal lines.

She will accommodate 10 guests in five staterooms, with 61 square metres dedicated to the owner's suite, which enjoys a traditional placement on the main deck forward. The owner's suite boasts his-and-hers dressing rooms and en suite bathrooms. Four guest cabins, including two VIPs, one twin and one double cabin – all with en suites – are found on the lower deck.

Outdoor spaces sprawl over 237 square metres, and the foredeck transforms into a party space when the rescue tenders, normally stowed here, are launched. The aft lower deck hosts a 21.5 square metre beach club and wellness area with a sauna; this space is accessed from the main saloon via a spiral staircase.

Sibelle will now undergo sea trailing in the North Sea and will be delivered to her owner at the end of February 2015.

A Closer Look at the Heesen Yacht Sibelle

Living a life of luxury and pleasure is what most people only dream of. The epitome of this lifestyle may be cruising the seas on a superyacht. These yachts are incredible vessels that feature unparalleled comfort, entertainment, recreation options, and style. When purchasing a superyacht, one of the most important considerations is the brand. A brand with an excellent reputation is far more likely to produce a high quality ship. One such brand is Heesen , a Dutch shipyard that is held in high regard in the industry. It was founded in 1978 by Frans Heesen, and has produced over 170 yachts thus far.

Its award-winning ships are known for their incredible design and high quality. They are custom-built to suit the needs and tastes of their owners. The Sibelle is a yacht produced by Heesen that also fits this description. It is a stylish and sleek yacht that also features an incredible performance in the water and spacious interior.

The Sibelle

Heesen has a great deal of experience building yachts that are a wide range of sizes. The Sibelle is a mid-range yacht at 44 meters. It was constructed in 2008 and was recently refitted, ensuring that its quality and construction are up to date. The ship is geared towards high performance cruising, and therefore features an all-aluminum build.

This yacht is renowned for its incredible design. The striking exterior was designed by Heesen, while the lavish interior was provided by Omega Architects. This yacht has a unique juxtaposition of styles. Its exterior is sporty and dynamic, while its interior offers all of the comfort and luxury that one would associate with a superyacht.

The ship is able to offer its incredible accommodations to 10 passengers. There are 5 guest cabins which are spacious and stylish to choose from. In addition, there are quarters for up to 9 crew members. This is a superyacht that refuses to compromise luxury for style. It features a sporty look and performance while maintaining the luxury that Heesen yachts are famous for.

Accommodations and Comfort

Guests can look forward not only to the beautiful sights of their cruise, but also to amazingly comfortable accommodations while aboard the Sibelle. There are 5 cabins to choose from, each of which is incredibly luxurious. There is one large Master Suite, a VIP Stateroom, and 3 Guest Staterooms. In sum, these cabins provide excellent accommodations for up to 10 guests. The crew quarters can accommodate 9, which will ensure the finest cruise experience.

The Master Suite is the highlight of the ship’s accommodations. Located on the main deck, it is incredibly expansive. Although it is very spacious, it also features a warm and inviting design. Further, it boasts additional features like en suite facilities.

For enjoying the yacht outside of the bedroom, the Sibelle offers an incredible range of lounge areas. The Main Salon in particular is expansive and intelligently designed. As well, the Sky Lounge is another lounging area that is highly versatile, easily transitioning from a games room to a media center. There is ample seating throughout the ship, and its generous use of windows ensure plenty of natural lighting.

For eating, passengers will enjoy the sumptuous 5-star meals prepared by a world-class chef. There are several options both for interior dining and al fresco dining.

In addition, the ship is specifically designed to maximize external deck space. There are a great deal of options for enjoying the sun. Most notably, the Sundeck offers several sunpads as well as a forward seating area for lounging with friends or family.

The ship’s interior is highlighted not only by its incredible and thoughtful layout, but also by the luxurious materials used in its construction. The soft colors make the Sibelle’s interior warm and inviting, while its light woods add an air of sophistication. Perhaps most notably, the lounging areas feature a design that focuses on gentle curves, which adds a unique feel to the room while maximizing space.

Cruising on the water in style is excellent, but to fully enjoy a superyacht, it must offer more than comfortable accommodations. The Sibelle recognizes this, and includes a wide variety of entertainment features. For starters, the ship offers lightning fast Wi-Fi for streaming videos and music or connecting with friends and family.

As well, watching movies and shows is a great experience on the Sibelle. This is because it offers plenty of HD televisions to choose from. For group viewing, passengers will be sure to enjoy the 46-inch LCD TV. However, there are also 4 32-inch LCD TVs with DVD players located throughout the ship for additional pleasure.

Further, the yacht is perfect for throwing parties. In addition to the TVs, the ship includes a BeoSound 3 sound system with remote speakers. The entire ship can be transformed into a hub of fun and excitement for family and friends.

While excellent accommodations and superior entertainment options may be enough for some yachts, superyachts like the Sibelle also offer a plethora of recreation and leisure options. This ship ensures that passengers will have just as much fun playing in the sunshine and water as they will aboard the ship. The recreational options are highlighted by the powerful and versatile tender that is included. The yacht includes a Novurania Custom Volvo tender that will suit a wide variety of purposes. Further, the ship boasts a wide range of water toys.

For leisure, the yacht ensures that passengers will have an unforgettable and relaxing experience while aboard the Sibelle. The leisure experience is highlighted by the ship’s beach club. Among other options, this beach club offers its own sauna.

With such remarkable options, there is something for every passenger on this incredible yacht. It boasts a wide range of recreational and leisure features in addition to its superior comfort and design.
