Imagine the gentle sway of waves, the endless horizon of the sea, and the allure of waking up to a different view every morning. This isn’t a holiday brochure; it’s the possibility of your new life on a yacht. It’s a dream for many, but what does it truly entail? In this exploration, we delve into the reality of yacht living. It’s not all sunsets and sea breezes. Like any home, a yacht has its charms and challenges.

For those in their prime years, considering a shift from a traditional home to a yacht is more than just a change of address. It’s a lifestyle overhaul. We’re not just talking about a snug living space or the need to be a Jack-of-all-trades at sea. It’s about embracing a unique blend of freedom and responsibility.

Living the Yacht Lifestyle

Our journey through this blog post is not just about painting a rosy picture. It’s about providing a realistic lens through which you can view this significant life decision. We’ll explore how this choice fits into your life puzzle, whether you’re an adventurous soul seeking the thrill of the open seas or a contemplative mind looking for serenity away from the land’s hustle.

As you read through, remember, every big decision comes with its highs and lows–like the tides. Yacht living is no exception. So, let’s set sail on this exploratory voyage to uncover what lies beneath the surface of living on a yacht.

The Allure of Yacht Living

The concept of yacht living taps into a deep-seated desire for freedom, an intimate connection with nature, and a sense of belonging within a unique community. Living on a boat isn’t just about the physical space you inhabit; it’s about the lifestyle and experiences that come with it. From the flexibility to cruise to new locations on a whim to the close-knit marina communities, yacht life offers a distinct way of living that is both challenging and rewarding. The

The Freedom and Flexibility of Location of Luxury Yacht Living

One of the most enticing aspects of living aboard a yacht is the sheer freedom it offers. Imagine having the ability to change your scenery whenever you wish. Whether it’s anchoring in a secluded bay or docking at a vibrant marina, your home is as mobile as you desire. This flexibility allows for a life unbound by the traditional constraints of geographical location.

Sailing from one destination to another, you’re not just moving your home; you’re embracing a lifestyle that allows for spontaneous adventures and experiences. The freedom to explore coastal towns, hidden coves, and open seas is unparalleled. This nomadic way of life provides a sense of liberation and adventure that is hard to find in traditional living arrangements.

Proximity to Nature and Unique Living Experiences

Living on a yacht brings you closer to nature in a way that few other lifestyles can. The rhythm of the waves, the panoramic ocean views, and the ability to witness marine life up close become a part of your daily life. This connection to the natural world is not just visually stunning but also offers a sense of peace and tranquility.

View of the Open Seas from a Yacht

The unique living experiences that come with yacht life are endless. From waking up to the gentle lapping of waves against the hull to enjoying sunsets over the water every evening, these experiences enrich life aboard. Each day presents an opportunity to create unforgettable memories, whether it’s swimming in crystal-clear waters, fishing for your dinner, or simply enjoying the serenity of the sea.

Overview of the Sense of Community in Marinas and Sailing Circles

One might think that living on a boat could be isolating, but the reality is quite the opposite. Yacht marinas and sailing communities are often vibrant and welcoming. When you dock or anchor your yacht, you’re not just stopping at a place; you’re becoming part of a community. These communities are characterized by shared experiences, mutual assistance, and a common passion for the sea.

Life in a marina is rich with social interactions. Fellow liveaboards and sailors form a tight-knit community, often gathering for shared meals, group excursions, or simply exchanging stories and advice. This camaraderie is a significant part of the allure of yacht living. The sense of belonging is palpable, as everyone shares a common understanding of the joys and challenges of life at sea.

The community extends beyond the physical confines of the marina. Sailing circles worldwide are connected by a shared love for cruising and exploration. Whether it’s through organized regattas, informal meet-ups, or online forums, these connections foster a sense of global community. Sailors often form lasting friendships, bound by their shared experiences and adventures at sea.

Superyachts in luxury yacht marina

Marinas often host events and activities that further strengthen these bonds. From educational workshops to social gatherings, there is a sense of collective growth and enjoyment. Living at a marina or being part of a sailing community isn’t just about having a place to dock your boat; it’s about being part of a supportive and engaging network that enriches your life aboard.

If you’re considering taking this step into yacht life, you may want to consider a test run. Charter a private yacht and try this lifestyle out for yourself. You may even decide you prefer renting over buying. Rent one model today, and then — when your mood or plans change — change the yacht for rent.  You don’t have to commit right away, this isn’t a marriage, it’s a yacht.

Space and Design: Adapting to Yacht Interiors

Transitioning to live on a boat full-time introduces a unique set of challenges and opportunities, particularly when it comes to space and design. Yacht interiors, whether in a luxury yacht or a modest sailboat, require thoughtful planning and clever solutions to make the most of the available space. This section delves into the art of maximizing space, the crucial role of organization, and the myriad ways you can personalize your floating home.

Maximizing Limited Space: Innovative Design Solutions

The key to successful boat life lies in efficiently utilizing the limited space. Every square inch on a boat counts, and making the most of this space is vital for comfortable living. Design solutions often involve multi-functional furniture, such as beds with storage underneath, foldable tables, or convertible seating areas. These innovations allow for a practical living environment without sacrificing comfort or style.

Luxury Yacht Interior

Another aspect is the strategic use of vertical space. Wall-mounted shelves, hanging organizers, and overhead storage can free up valuable floor space. In a sailboat, for example, the interior can be designed with built-in storage in unexpected places like under the stairs or in the hull. This approach ensures that every part of the boat is utilized effectively.

The type of boat also plays a role in how space can be maximized. For instance, catamarans typically offer more living space compared to monohulls, making them a popular choice for those looking to move aboard full-time. Regardless of the boat type, the goal is to create a space that is both functional and comfortable.

The Importance of Efficient Organization When Yachting

Living on a boat full-time demands a high level of organization. The limited space means there’s little room for clutter, making it essential to keep everything in its place. Efficient organization not only makes life on board more comfortable but also ensures safety when the boat is in motion.

Organizational strategies include using containers and baskets to keep items secure, labeling storage areas for easy access, and regularly decluttering to avoid accumulating unnecessary items. This discipline in organization extends to all aspects of boat life, from the kitchen and living areas to personal belongings and maintenance tools.

Boat insurance policies often require certain safety standards to be maintained,

and a well-organized boat is more likely to meet these requirements. Keeping equipment properly stored and accessible can be critical in emergencies. Additionally, an organized interior can help in reducing the overall cost of living on a boat, as it prevents damage and loss of items, which could be costly to replace.

Customization Options for Personalizing Your Space

Turning a yacht into a home involves more than just functional adjustments; it’s about infusing your personality into the space. Customization allows boat dwellers to create an environment that reflects their style and preferences, adding to the enjoyment of luxury yacht living.

Personalizing a yacht interior can range from choosing color schemes and fabrics to selecting artwork and – perhaps – some nautical-themed decorative items . Many boat owners opt for a full tour of customization, tailoring each aspect of the yacht to their liking. This could include custom-built furniture, unique lighting fixtures, or bespoke floorings, such as teak or bamboo.

For those living on a sailboat, customization might mean optimizing the layout for sailing efficiency while also creating a cozy, livable space. This could involve installing custom cabinetry that fits the boat’s contours or adding personal touches like cushions and throws that make the space feel like home.

Yacht Interior

Customization also extends to technological upgrades. Modern yachts can be equipped with advanced navigation systems, entertainment setups, and climate control, enhancing the overall experience of boat life. These modifications not only add comfort but also can increase the boat’s value.

In essence, adapting to yacht interiors is a blend of practicality, organization, and personalization. Whether you’re planning to move aboard a sailboat or a luxury yacht, these elements work in harmony to create a living space that is not just functional but truly feels like home.

Climate Considerations When You Live on a Boat Full-Time

The climatic conditions of the chosen residence place or travel route are not the most obvious factor which must be noted. Being in a city apartment or a private house, we don’t think much about the weather outside the window. If a strong wind blows outside, heavy rain falls or the temperature suddenly drops, we will feel almost nothing.

On a yacht, the weather does not just play an important role, your safety and comfort directly depend on it. Each boat is individual and suitable for certain climatic conditions. It is worth analyzing all the characteristics of the boat in advance and honestly evaluating its capabilities in order to accurately determine whether it is possible to  live on a yacht all year round in your chosen water area.

Financial Considerations: The Cost of Yacht Life

Embarking on the journey of yacht life involves more than just adapting to a new way of living; it also requires a clear understanding of the financial implications. While it’s easy to romanticize the idea of sailing around the world or living full-time on a boat, the reality comes with its own set of financial responsibilities. From the initial purchase of the boat to ongoing expenses and the comparison to traditional homeownership, understanding these costs is crucial for anyone considering this lifestyle.

Initial Investment: Purchasing and Outfitting a Yacht

The first step in yacht life is acquiring the right boat. This involves not only finding the best boat that suits your needs but also managing the financial investment it requires. The cost of a new boat can vary widely, depending on factors such as size, brand, and features, some of which we covered above. Choosing to live on a larger boat or a luxury cruiser naturally involves a higher initial investment.

In addition to the purchase price, outfitting a yacht for full-time living is a significant consideration. This may include upgrading boat systems, adding navigation equipment, and customizing the interior to make it livable. Even if you opt for an old, more affordable boat, it could require substantial investment in renovations and upgrades.

Furthermore, acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills for yacht maintenance and sailing is part of the initial investment. This might entail sailing courses, safety training, and learning about the nautical aspects of yacht care.

Ongoing Expenses: Maintenance, Docking Fees, Insurance

Once you own a yacht, the financial commitments continue. Boat maintenance is an ongoing requirement and a crucial part of life aboard. The yacht owners will need knowledge and skills to keep the yacht in good condition. Regular upkeep ensures the safety and longevity of your boat. This includes everything from engine maintenance to hull cleaning and can vary greatly in cost, depending on the age and condition of your boat.

El Gouna Yacht Maintenance

Docking fees are another significant expense, especially if you choose to stay at marinas. The cost can vary based on location and the services offered. Additionally, a dinghy might be necessary for transportation to and from the shore, adding to the expenses.

Insurance is an essential consideration for any boater. Boat insurance policies can be complex and vary greatly in coverage and cost. It’s crucial to have a comprehensive policy that covers potential damages and liabilities, especially when living on a boat full-time.

Comparing the Cost of Living to Traditional Homeownership

When contemplating yacht life, it’s common to wonder if you’ll save money compared to traditional homeownership. The answer depends on various factors, including the type and size of the boat, the chosen lifestyle, and where you plan to dock or anchor.

Annual costs for yacht living can include maintenance, insurance, docking fees, and fuel, which can be comparable to or even exceed the costs of owning a home. However, some expenses, like property taxes and certain utilities, may be lower or non-existent.

A gas station on the quay for yachts

It’s also important to consider the value of the experience and lifestyle when comparing costs. Yacht life offers a unique set of experiences and freedoms that traditional homeownership cannot provide. While the financial aspect is crucial, the decision to live on a yacht often goes beyond mere economics.

Living on a boat full-time can also mean a shift in priorities and lifestyle choices. For some, this means downsizing and simplifying life, which can lead to reduced overall living expenses. However, for others, particularly those choosing a luxury yacht or a larger boat, the costs can be comparable to or even exceed those of a high-end terrestrial home.

Challenges and Downsides of Full-Time Living on a Boat

Living on a yacht presents a unique set of challenges and downsides that are important to consider before making the leap into this lifestyle. While the idea of living on a boat may evoke images of endless sunsets and tranquil waters, the reality can be quite different. Factors such as weather dependency, limited access to facilities, and the psychological impacts of isolation and confined spaces play a significant role in day-to-day life on a yacht.

Weather Dependency and Its Impact

One of the most significant challenges of living on a yacht is the constant need to be mindful of the weather. Your entire life becomes closely tied to weather conditions, which can change rapidly and without warning.

  • Safety Concerns : Severe weather can pose serious safety risks. Being caught in a storm while at sea can be dangerous, and even when docked, high winds and waves can cause damage to your yacht.
  • Lifestyle Adjustments : Daily activities and travel plans often have to be adjusted according to the weather. This can mean being stuck in a location longer than planned or missing out on certain experiences.
  • Constant Vigilance : Living on a yacht requires a high level of awareness and knowledge of weather patterns. This can be mentally taxing, as one always needs to be prepared for the possibility of changing plans or taking emergency precautions.

Yacht on Calm Waters at Night

Remember the old saying, “Red sky at night, sailors delight. Red sky in the morning, sailors take warning!”

Limited Access to Certain Facilities and Services When You Live on a Yacht

Another downside of yacht life is the limited access to facilities and services that are often taken for granted on land.

  • Healthcare and Emergency Services : In remote areas, access to healthcare and emergency services can be limited or delayed. This can be a concern for those with medical conditions or in case of accidents.
  • Utility Services : Services like high-speed internet, electricity, and plumbing work differently on a yacht and may not always be reliable. This can affect both work and daily living.
  • Convenience and Shopping : Getting groceries or finding specific supplies can be challenging, especially when anchored away from urban centers. This requires careful planning and often means you can’t have everything you want when you want it.

Dealing with Isolation and Confined Spaces When Living Aboard a Boat

The psychological aspects of living on a yacht are often overlooked, yet they are crucial for a sustainable life at sea.

  • Isolation from Society : While some seek solitude, prolonged periods of isolation can affect mental health. Being away from family, friends, and the wider community can lead to feelings of loneliness.
  • Small Living Quarters : The confined space of a boat can be challenging, especially for those used to larger living spaces. It requires adjustments in both physical belongings and mental preparedness for close-quarters living.
  • Cabin Fever : Spending extended periods on a boat, especially during bad weather when you can’t leave, can lead to a sense of restlessness or cabin fever. This is where the small space and isolation can compound to impact mental well-being.

While living on a yacht can be an incredibly rewarding experience, it’s important to acknowledge and prepare for the challenges and downsides. Understanding the realities of weather dependency, limited access to amenities, and the psychological effects of isolation and confined spaces is crucial for anyone considering making a boat their home. These factors are integral to life at sea and require careful consideration and planning to ensure a fulfilling and sustainable lifestyle on the water.

The Four Seasons Yacht Launching in 2025 Will Be an Ultra-Luxe, Invitation-Only Cruise Ship

By Jessica Puckett

The Four Seasons Yacht Launching in 2025 Will Be an UltraLuxe InvitationOnly Cruise Ship

When it was first announced last year , the Four Seasons Yacht generated a lot of excitement among cruisers and loyal fans of the hotel brand alike. But few details on what would be aboard the 14-deck luxury yacht, which is slated to launch at the end of 2025, have been available—until now.

Earlier this week, Four Seasons released the first renderings of the yacht’s decks and interiors—and there’s plenty to get even more excited about.

The vessel will be built around “immersive luxury experiences,” Four Seasons’ president and CEO Alejandro Reynal said in a statement . “The inaugural yacht is a manifestation of this vision, offering a world-class Four Seasons experience, at sea and on land, marked by the genuine, personalized service that our guests know and love.”

On board, there will be a total of 95 suites, the crown jewel of which will be The Funnel Suite: an expansive, four-story penthouse space that is set to be one of the largest suites available on any cruise ship. Across its four levels and its huge outdoor terrace, it will offer more than 9,500 square feet of private space for up to six guests. The Funnel Suite will be located on the ship’s highest decks—where a traditional “funnel” or smokestack would be on a steamship—ensuring optimal privacy and solitude.

The suite’s defining design feature is its curved, wraparound glass windows that will stretch from floor to ceiling and offer sweeping 280-degree views of the sea. The curved glass is a “one-of-a-kind engineering innovation [that] is nothing short of remarkable, from its steel web frame support structure to its double glass thermal performance,” says a company statement. (Four Seasons says it’s the largest piece of contiguous glass at sea and cost $4.5 million to build and install.)

The penthouse suite will also offer a private wading pool on the terrace and a private area dedicated to in-suite spa treatments.

Elsewhere on the yacht, the suites might not be as colossal, but they’re no less luxurious. Each one offers an average of about 580 square feet of space and comes with its own private veranda, measuring at least 100 square feet. No matter where guests stay there's sure to be plenty of pampering, with crew set to outnumber the amount of passengers on the ship.

The Four Seasons Yacht Launching in 2025 Will Be an UltraLuxe InvitationOnly Cruise Ship

Sure to be just as stunning are the public spaces throughout the yacht. On the vessel’s aft deck will be a pool area, featuring lounge chairs and a large 66-foot pool, which is modeled after Aristotle Onassis’ iconic yacht Christina O . The pool’s design means that its saltwater can be quickly filled or emptied and its floor raised to be level with the deck and provide a multi-purpose space for events like parties or weddings on board.

For passengers who prefer swimming in the ocean, the Four Seasons Yacht will have an innovative marina, built especially for swimming and water sports. Activities like private sailing, snorkeling, and windsurfing will be offered, as well as “rentable custom crafted sea limousines designed for transfers and coastal grand touring.” There will be dedicated marina crew to tend to guests’ every need, and beach ladders for direct dips in the ocean when the ship is on anchorage.

In a first-of-its-kind design, the marina area will stretch the entire width of the ship and include large platforms and tiered lounging decks for relaxing in the sun after splashing in the water. Overlooking the marina will be a sophisticated lounge with al fresco seating, the perfect place for a glass of Champagne at sundown.

The Four Seasons Yacht Launching in 2025 Will Be an UltraLuxe InvitationOnly Cruise Ship

As far as itineraries, Four Seasons will prioritize exploring destinations traditionally popular with private yachts, including the Caribbean and the Mediterranean .

When reservations for the first voyages open in January 2024, they will first be available on an invitation-only basis for loyal Four Seasons guests and other travel partners. The exclusivity is “driven by the need to manage extraordinary demand” with scarce inventory, according to the Four Seasons statement. But don’t worry, the yacht will also have an online waitlist that cruisers can join in hopes of being part of the glamor.

Luxury Yacht Living Cheaper Than A House? (full tour & monthly costs)

Living on a yacht can sound like a lot of things. And to us, it always sounded bonkers expensive. A pipe dream. But the reality is there is a boat for every budget. Chances are, you can take whatever your cost of living is now and move onto a boat for the same price. Or maybe even a lot less.

Seriously. We’ve maintained the same general budget for the last 10 years. From a condo in Downtown Dallas Texas to road trippers in a 33ft motor home to liveaboard cruisers on a 44ft sailing catamaran .

Another case in point is our friends Rico and Victoria (the couple in the photo with us). They lived in Los Angeles California on a power yacht that cost under $200k. I’m pretty sure you can’t get a parking space in LA for under $200k.

And so today, we’re stepping into the Motor Yacht world. Which honestly isn’t a type of boating we have ever considered or spent a lot of time exploring. Because for us, we want to travel around the world, and it just makes more sense (efficiency, redundancy, safety, etc.) to have a sailboat.

But not everyone is looking to sail around the world. Power boats make a lot of sense for coastal cruisers, river cruising, ice breakers, or as a liveaboard in a home port.

Rico and Victoria have invited us into their world to tour a 66’ Hampton Yacht. It’s a deep dive into what living aboard a luxury yacht like this looks like. We chat about polarization between sailors and motor boaters, maintenance, running costs, fuel prices, and even dockage fees.

So, what did you think?  Are you a power boater, a sailor, or just a lover of all things nautical?  We’re suckers for any home that travels.  And while we won’t be giving up our sails anytime soon, we certainly see the appeal.  If we had a job that kept us tied to a dock most days, I could see us opting for a vintage tug boat.  I have always wanted to renovate one and who doesn’t love an old tugboat!?

This beauty operates as an expedition cruise in Alaska.  Perhaps in our next life?

Hello there! I honestly don’t know what to say, so I am going to tell you a bunch of random facts instead. I'm a fish eating vegetarian who hates spiders and loves snakes. I almost never took vacations growing up. I wanted to be Pippi Longstocking (still do). I misspell about every other word I write and still struggle with grammar. I love splurging on a good high tea (which is really hard to find these days). And whatever you do, don’t tell me I can’t do something, because then I'll HAVE to do it!

Great lifestyle . I lived on a 40-foot totally craft for 2 years . Lake Washington, Seattle. I loved it. A little pricey . $600 a month mortgage . Another $500 for liveaboard fee . Otherwise all inclusive . It was an adventure .

' src=

Very nice and thanks for sharing the costs. That is a lot cheaper than most apartment rentals I have seen. So not too bad really for a nice lake house!

' src=

I absolutely enjoyed this video, well done! It was fun to ‘walk’ on board such a beautiful boat and have an extremely knowledgeable couple show us the way. This dovetails seamlessly into boat life. The questions you posed, Nikki, were spot on. At first the thought of $3,000/month for slip fees was crazy until I realized our Airstream nightly costs can range from free (boon docking) to $10,000 a month at an upscale resort in the Keys. What threw me upside down is finding out that condo HOAs are at $2,000/mo. in Fort Lauderdale. Keep the outstanding videos coming!

We find the costs of living in most major cities to be really high on land or sea right now. But as you said, boondocking, or for us anchoring, is the affordable way to go. Because if you can avoid the RV parks and Marinas, life is a lot more affordable!

My wife and I spent almost 5 years on a 64’ Grand Banks Aleutian cruising the Caribbean.

I thought the numbers were pretty much on target. For example $1,000,000 boat realistically cost $100,000 to $150,000 annually to operate.

Although our boat would do 20 knots, cruising speed was about 8-10 knots at 10-15 gallons per hour – not the most expensive part of boat ownership. Docking in many locations were equivalent to about $3,000 per month and part of the $150,000 annual cruising costs.

There are a lot of robust systems on a 64 foot vessel. You need to have a good set of tools, some knowledge and skills and be able to physically carry on maintenance and repair. If not add another $50,000 to your annual costs.

The one thing to consider is the a boat can be a notable depreciating asset unlike a dirt home in normal times. Add annual boat depreciation into you costs and you my find even more dollars to be considered in annual operating costs.

I believe the total costs of a less than 20 year old year as shown in the video my be a little more than most could afford.

' src=

Perhaps useful information. It seemed to be an obvious advertisement for that vessel. I’ve followed you from RV days. Not a fan of this video. We are boaters capable of living aboard but we don’t select that option. So we don’t oppose that lifestyle.

This was not an advertisement for the vessel as we have zero affiliation with the broker or the owner. We were not compensated in any way. It was a look at another type of boating with a channel that does boat tours like this every week (also not paid adverts for the boats). Completely fine if it wasn’t of interest to you, we create a wide variety of content. It’s inevitable you won’t love every video. Perhaps the next will be one you enjoy.

Thank you for this video. A little overwhelming for me. It seems to me that there is a lot more to consider and keep an eye on living on a boat rather than living in a house or condo. Living on a boat would not be my first choice but I can be influenced with extra luxuries, comforts and treats. Happy travels,

An amusing video, on your new boat you will be cruising at 17 knots and not burning 50 gal/hr! I really enjoy your videos, but you really threw me a loop on AG1. Where is the data to support their claims? Like most food supplements no data.

I don’t know that we will be cruising at 17 knots but we are looking forward to figuring out our new cruising speed and burning zero fuel while doing it. But important to keep in mind the sails also cost a fair bit and no doubt took a fair amount of energy to make. As for the AG1, click over to their website and check it out. There is a ton of science-based, 3rd party research backing up the claims. It’s the first supplement we’ve been willing to spend money on because they are usually empty claims but we believe AG1 is different. https://athleticgreens.com/gonewiththewynns

So many similarities between the boat lifestyle and the rv lifestyle. Class A, B, C, towable, fifth wheel etc. But there IS something for everyone. I also saw so many things from the boat that have been implemented in RVs. The twin bed cabin is the same as the twin bed floorplan in many of todays RVs. Very interesting video today and I’m going to check out Nautiguys channel now. Thanks.

There are a ton of similarities for sure. Our time RV’ing definitely made the transition to boat life easier.

That was fun and interesting guys, maybe if I’d seen this before, my choices would be different, however i feel that any self respecting, successful couple like yourselves would have and should have a land based investment, I’m talking property of course, that in case something should change, as it can at a drop of a hat. The quality of workmanship aboard boats is astonishing, something that often makes me wonder why not such high quality in homes generally, then there is cost or your own skills to consider. Wow we are experiencing such an incredible storm right now, it sounds like a war zone and my power went off momentarily, I think it will again so chow for, take care, Paul.

Doing some fast math….I heard that annual maintenance on a boat is about 10% to 15% of the boats value. So on this motor yacht should the owners be budgeting between $100,000 and $150,000 for maintenance??? Hard to sell this as an alternative to home ownership if maintenance costs, after six years, would have bought me that investment home.

' src=

Angelo DiPietro

So what your saying that 10 to 15 thousand a year for Annual Maintenance? Are you talking rent/ parking? electricity and potable water/sewer services ? Cause that is the same for every house, land, sea, wheeled, unless your living in a tent………

' src=

Boats are not an investment. They are a depreciating asset in almost any market condition. I don’t think the wynns are “selling” the boat lifestyle as a replacement to land based lifestyle. They are pointing out that if you want to live in Miami/LA (horribly expensive places) with an ocean view the cost may not be that different from a boat or a condo (HOA fees).

Superyachts Are the Epitome of Luxury Living

But they’re going to cost you in both time and money, newsletter sign-up, week in review.

Shares the stories you may have missed from the world of luxury real estate

With their top-deck swimming pools, private screening rooms, state-of-the-art kitchens and saloons, and on-board beach toys like jet skis and motorboats, superyachts represent the very top of luxury living.

"It’s the ultimate luxury and the ultimate independence," giving owners the ability to instantly pull up anchor and sail or motor off to anywhere in the world that catches their fancy, said Ginger Hornaday, a broker with Engel & Volkers and marketing consultant in the marine and luxury real estate industry.

More: The Latest Trends in Luxury Yachting

"Owning a yacht means owning something exclusive," said Sebastiano Pitasi, a sales yacht broker at Engel & Völkers Yachting in Nice, France. "Most of the time we are talking about a really unique masterpiece built to satisfy the owner's wish to own something fully customized."

"A yacht is probably one of the most expensive hobbies an owner may have, but it's for sure one that will create unforgettable moments," Mr. Pitasi said.

Increasingly popular with the ultra wealthy

Some yacht owners live most of the year on their boats, others use it only for occasional travel, experts say. But either way, they seem to be getting more popular with a certain clientele.

"As the pursuit of luxury moves from goods and services to unique experiences, the ultra wealthy are demanding that the returns on their most precious possession, time, are maximized in every way possible," according to The Wealth-X and Camper & Nicholsons State of Wealth, Luxury & Yachting Report 2016, which notes a new, younger generation of ultra-high-net-worth individuals increasingly focused on pursuing rare, tailored experiences over accumulating "‘things."

Yachts are popular among the super rich, which Wealth-X and Camper & Nicholson define as worth $30 million and more, because the experience is "personalized, private and provides access to unique experiences in food and drink, travel and culture and activities and entertainment," according to the report.

Superyachts are defined by length, not price, with 79 feet (or 24 meters)and up as a base figure. The average value of a superyacht is $10 million, according to the Wealth-X and Camper & Nicholsons report, and 4,476 people around the world own one. The top countries for the ultra-high-net-worth superyacht owners are the United States (33%), United Kingdom (11%), Italy (5%), Australia (4%) and Russia (3%). These super rich are about 88% of the share of the luxury market for yachts, with an annual spend of $22 billion.

"Buying a yacht is a very personal and private investment," said Benjamin Barker, a sales yacht broker at Engel & Völkers Yachting in Nice. "It's an emotional decision and one of financial importance."

‘Go into it with your eyes wide open’

If a super-luxurious superyacht is on your shopping list, there are a few things to keep in mind before you swoop in.

"There are pitfalls and people have to be very careful," said Gary Brown, 73, a business investor who lives on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. He has owned several big boats over the years and is now in the market for a superyacht in the 80- to- 100-foot range. "Go into it with your eyes wide open."

"A lot of yacht choices have to do with ego," he cautioned.

But there’s so much more to them. "Owning a yacht is the way for an owner to showcase his success, but most importantly, to enjoy his time together with his family and friends in some of the most exclusive locations," Mr. Pitasi said.

More: The Yachting World’s New Horizons

First, you are likely going to need to be patient and take the necessary time to find the right boat that fits your wallet and lifestyle.

"When you purchase a superyacht, it’s a long process," Ms. Hornaday said, with lots of inspections, surveys, and digging through logbooks and other data.

"You’ll see 20 binders in the engine room alone," Ms. Hornaday said. Those binders will have working drawings, schematics and specs for the engine room and its mechanical systems.

Mr. Brown said, "If you want a new boat, you can shop at the various manufacturers, but most of them, especially the most popular ones, are backordered. Occasionally, you can find a new boat that was built on spec and is ready to take to the seas."

Many of the leading yacht builders are Dutch, including Oceanco, Vitters Shipyard, Feadship Royal Dutch Shipyards and Amel Holland, or German, including Lurssen and Blohm + Voss. Other top builders include Perini Navi in Viareggio, Italy; Sunseeker in Poole, England; and Christensen Shipyards in Vancouver, Washington.

It typically takes 12 to 36 months to build a new superyacht.

More: For Chinese Yacht Buyers, Good Taste Matters

"The real challenge is finding exactly what you want in the used market," Mr. Brown said. "But you want to make sure you’re enjoying your yacht, not constantly fixing and patching an old boat."

It’s very difficult for someone who is new to the market to just go out and buy a superyacht on their own. "You need someone who is highly knowledgeable to help you," Mr. Brown said. If you don’t have the knowledge, get a reputable agent, he advised.

"If you’re spending $5 million, $10 million, $15 million or $50 million on a boat, that can be a life-changing event for the broker because of the commissions," he said. "You have to find an extremely reputable and trustworthy broker or agent to represent you."

"There is a great selection of yachts available on the market, therefore finding the perfect yacht requires specialist advice and insight," Mr. Barker said.

You also need to look at the economies of managing a big ship. "It’s like running your own resort," Ms. Hornaday said.

"The biggest challenge is staff," Mr. Brown said. "There are quality captains and crews and then there are captains and crews. I’ve seen friends struggle with this."

It’s very important to check their backgrounds and talk to previous owners, Mr. Brown said.

Crew sizes for superyachts vary greatly, but usually number between eight and 35 members and can go as high as 50 or 60, Ms. Hornaday said. A general rule of thumb is two to four crew for every 10 meters of boat.

Because of worldwide security concerns, "at least three or four of them might have some kind of military training."

Mapping out your destination

Would-be buyers also need to outline where they want to go and whether the waters will be deep enough for a superyacht. "Your cruising grounds are always predicated on the depth of your vessel," Ms. Hornaday said.

You don’t see yachts in Turks and Caicos, for example, because the waters are too shallow, she said. Newport, Rhode Island, and the south of France, on the other hand, are known for their reliably deep harbors.

Fuel capacity can be another concern. Can your yacht make a 600-mile run without refueling?

Like many yachtsmen, Mr. Brown likes to spend winters in the Bahamas and summers in the Mediterranean. "You couldn’t ask for two better locations in the world, places where you can truly enjoy yourself."

But docking charges in summer in the Mediterranean can be "staggeringly expensive—$10, $15, $20 a foot per day," he said.

In high season in the port of Monaco, a 50-meter boat would pay 962 euros (US$1,025) per day and 19,240 euros (US$20,500) per month, Mr. Barker said.

Owning a superyacht can require a nearly constant outlay of money, Mr. Brown said. "You almost have to disregard what it’s costing you— it’s going to be expensive."

He has also chartered big yachts several times and recommends that as a good way for would-be owners to get a feel for what is involved in owning a superyacht.

In fact, depending on how often you use your yacht, chartering may be a cheaper, better option than owning.

Before buying, carefully consider how much you will actually use the boat, Mr. Brown advised. "You have this wonderful idea of spending lots of time on your yacht, but after six months or a year, you find it sitting on the dock."

Below, are some superyachts currently on the market.

Yacht: Regina Price: €8.850 million (US$9.6 million) Length: 56 meters (193 feet) Cruising speed: 12 knots Guests: 12

James Bond fans will recognize the stunning superyacht known as Regina from her appearance in the film "Skyfall." "A potential buyer for a yacht such as Regina would be a high-net-worth individual who has a strong passion for the sea and sailing and who also enjoys the comfort of a motor sailing yacht," said Benjamin Barker, a yacht sales broker at Engel & Völkers Yachting. "She's made with romance that can be felt as soon as you step on board."

Built in 2011 by Pruva Yachting, this classically styled schooner is a high-performance ocean-going vessel. Regina has wide deck spaces, including separate deck areas for sunbathing and al fresco dining. The interior layout was designed by Aylin Örs, with a large dining and sitting saloon. Regina can accommodate 12 guests in six classically designed en-suite cabins. The master stateroom has a lounge area and walk-in dressing room. Amenities include canoes, stand-up paddleboards, jet ski, snorkeling equipment, speed boat, deck shower, easy-access swim ladders, modern kitchen, and 3D LED televisions with satellite connection.

An unusual layout allows Ipanema to accommodate up to 12 guests in seven cabins, including an owner's stateroom. The full-beam master suite with private owner’s deck is on the main deck. Two single cabins are on the bridge deck, and the four twin cabins (two with additional Pullman berths) are on the lower deck. The aft deck is large enough to store three jet-skis as well as offer al fresco dining at a sociable circular table. There are eight cabins with a large full-beam master suite that converts to two VIP suites and features two dressing rooms and spacious en suites. The expansive sundeck is designed around a scallop-shaped pool with swim jet and spa pool functions. A shaded aft area offers informal seating and dining.

Yacht: Grigreca Price: €2.99 million (US$3.3 million) Length: 23 meters (76 feet) Cruising speed: 11 knots Guests: 8

Grigreca is a custom designed Silent 76 sailing yacht built by the Italian Sea Group in 2014. She has a push-button operating system, which means she can easily be sailed by a couple or a few friends. The layout and interior were created by the Italian Sea Group’s in-house Admiral Centro Stile design, with dashes of marble and stone to complement the dark wood finish. There are a total of four cabins, including a master suite, VIP suite, two guest cabins and one crew cabin.

Luxury Superyacht Interior Design Ideas

Jonathan Holmes

Home decoration doesn’t have to be restrained to dry land abodes. For those who count a luxury boat as a second home, or have their sights set on being able to say so someday, superyacht interior inspiration becomes a hot topic. There are design principles that remain relevant whatever the shape, size and style of the property, such as harnessing natural light, but beyond that, superyacht interior design requires its own, shipshape decorating agenda.

Luxury Superyacht Interior Design Ideas - Bedroom Yacht Interior - LuxDeco.com

Incorporating the structural elements

Boat interior design typically faces a few physical barriers that affect the aesthetic. Often, some of the necessary structural facets of the build are exposed, such as steel supporting girders in the centre of a room, or technical obligations like marked security exits and emergency lighting that need to be visible, but will detract from the room’s style.

The key is to turn these challenges into opportunities. In the case of the supporting columns, they can be transformed into elegant pillars with additional, dummy columns added to make a statement with strong symmetry.

Luxury Superyacht Interior Design Ideas - Bedroom Yacht Interior - LuxDeco.com

Channelling natural light

Just as with houses on the shore, a luxury yacht interior is always going to be benefit from natural light pouring in. Many contemporary yachts are purposefully being designed to echo what you see in contemporary buildings – ceiling to floor sheets of glass. Or as close to that as they can.

Not only does this direct a greater degree of natural light into the yacht’s living spaces, but it challenges the traditional window design you’d see at sea, making them appear less stereotypically nautical.

Maximise the amount of light by using high-gloss, polished surfaces that will reflect the sun’s rays as well as oversized mirrors if the wall space allows. If the yacht’s windows are more traditional in their dimensions, avoid heavy window treatments like fully-lined, voluminous curtains that, even when pulled back, will block some of the natural light from entering.

Working with oddly shaped rooms

Many vessels have a matrix of unusually shaped rooms that can make living quarters feel cramped. One way to work around this to use glass instead so that there’s still the required support in place, but the walls become transparent, opening up the environment.

This takes a lot of planning with the shipyard and means creating a channel that holds the glass within the boat’s structure – it should be installed even before the flooring so that the wall flows smoothly through the floor. But if this degree of build isn’t passable or if you’re only concerned with decoration rather than the boat’s architecture, remember to stick to just a few colours and materials in your boat’s scheme.

By having walls, ceiling and designer furniture all in the same colour, they fuse together and make unusually shaped rooms appear less cumbersome. In the Martin Kemp Design interior, you see a focus on white and the same tone of wood used from room to room, which result in any awkward angles being smoothed out.

Make the most of the minimal square footage

Even on the grandest of super yachts (have a read of our Q&A with superyacht firm Bannenberg and Rowell for seriously grand boat design talk), space is always the biggest constraint. Practicality doesn’t have to overrule good looks, but the two do need to balance to achieve a harmonious interior. Nothing is more frustrating than when there’s not enough room to store belongings, so by ensuring there’s a considerable amount of clever, integrated storage, the less there is to line the corridors and litter any surfaces.

Other key design tips to not over-occupy minimal square footage include ensuring any electrical wiring and speakers for technology like music or entertainment systems is concealed in the boat’s walls with a flush finish if possible. With lighting , concentrate less on floor lamps and more on wall lights , ceiling lights and pendant lights . Look closer at the Martin Kemp Design yacht bedroom and you’ll notice there are bedside wall lights and shelves rather than lamps and tables, as well as lots of LED strip lighting that take up no room.

Luxury Superyacht Interior Design Ideas - Living Room Yacht Interior - LuxDeco.com Style Guide

Build in seamless storage

Attention to detail is always pivotal in interior design, because the smallest of touches can have a huge effect. In terms of a boat’s design, a strong example is making sure any storage is handleless.

Push-to-open mechanisms or cutout handles really do make a room feel far sleeker. The handle-free option combined with integrated storage that’s flush to the wall allows for significant fluidity. This doesn’t mean to say that every piece of storage has to be fitted. But try to bring in any freestanding items of storage in line with the architecture of the room. Follow any places where the walls come out and let them be your guide.

Looking back at the Martin Kemp Design bedroom, the chest of drawers doesn’t protrude past the wall on the left-hand side of the room, and in the twin bedroom, the bedside tables are at the same level as the bed frame which creates a seamless line.

Luxury Superyacht Interior Design Ideas - Twin Bedroom Cabin Yacht Interior - LuxDeco.com Style Guide

Working with low ceilings

Superyacht design almost always should seek to combat the notorious low ceiling environment. Boat ceilings can be as low as seven feet, so employ design trickery techniques that can give the illusion that they’re on the taller side.

Reflective materials used well will add lift and can even create a feeling of infinity when they’re used in a detail-oriented way. For example, in the Martin Kemp Design bedroom pictured, where there’s a combination of gloss paintwork and reflective panels laid in a chevron formation which draws the eye up and along.

Equally, dark colours used overhead with a reflective finish adds depth to the ceiling that’s hard to calculate – there’s no telling where it ends, and so the ceiling height feels lifted, like it might go on and on and on.

Superyacht Interiors: The Top Luxury Designs

Luxury Brands

Everyone knows that a yacht or superyacht is nothing without a luxury interior. Indeed, there’s now a whole range of interior designers who either specialize in or regularly create yacht interiors. So, how do you find the best projects? Here at Insplosion, we want to help. That’s why we’ve gathered a list of our top luxury superyacht interiors !

Yacht fans may also like: Sabrina Monte-Carlo: Famous Interior Designers of Monaco

Brigadoon | studio indigo.

Including the Brigadoon in this list is pretty mandatory. After all, this luxury yacht by Studio Indigo is an actual winner of the World Superyacht Awards 2019! Thus, this project is all about the grand but understated mid-century luxury decor. The flowers, the wood, and navy-colored details combine to make this into a pretty classic luxury boat interior. Indeed, it’s the beautiful and neutral harmony that truly takes this project to the next level.

Studio Indigo Yacht Brigadoon

Besides, it’s quite a practical design. As you can see, the bedrooms and closets are amazingly organized. It’s all about luxury, yes, but also about comfort and practicality. The high seas are no place for clutter, which can cause accidents in bad weather.

But, in contrast with the brown color palette, you have this lovely deck area. With its slightly japandi style influences, this is the perfect place to relax in at the end of a long day.

Aurora Borealis | Winch Design

The Aurora Borealis does justice to its namesake. Indeed, it is as white and bright of an interior as the aurora itself. However, there are all sorts of little decor elements which are reminiscent of the sea. Just notice the shell-shaped ashtray and sea-horse patterns on some of the pillows! Finally, the mid-century lighting really adds a nice touch to the ambiance.

Aurora Borealis Yacht by Wich Design

But there’s much more to admire. How do you like the lovely art deco bar? The lines themselves almost remind you of corals and shells. And the airy, light decor is just as present in the dining and living areas. While just as luxurious, this interior is much different from the Brigadoon’s.

Finally, we’ll leave you with this gorgeous view of the yacht’s deck at night. Once again, the seatings and patterns are chosen to be evocative of the ocean. It’s as gorgeous of a yacht design as you could ask for.

Superyacht Forever | St. Corona Interiors

If you’re looking for something equally light, but much more sober, look no further than Superyacht Forever . This creation by St. Corona Interiors also follows a white color scheme, but the decor elements aren’t quite as feminine. There’s not as much art deco influence here. The lines are much cleaner and simpler, almost minimalist compared to the glamour of the previous project.

Yacht Interior by St.Corona Interiors

The Incredible Project by Humbert & Poyet – Beefbar Paris

The bar and living room area follow more or less the same route. Indeed, they favor light color schemes and clean, shapely lines. It’s all about practical luxury, functional without being quite minimalist.

Finally, we have the bedroom. While not opulent in the slightest, this room has the same sort of stylish beauty as the rest of the interior. Once again: you don’t want clutter on the high seas!

Logica | Martin Kemp Design

At last, we reach the Logica .  This project for a luxury yacht by Marin Kemp Design is everything our interior decor dreams are made of. Like the Aurora, it takes a much more art deco approach to superyacht interiors. The little metal details are just what we like to call luxury hardware!

Logica Yacht by Martin Kemp

The bedroom and living space designs follow very similar color schemes and strategies. Since you can’t have any clutter, it’s all about denoting luxury through the tiniest details.

Finally, you have the bathroom project, which is as light and gorgeous as the rest of the design. It’s a luxury bathroom through and through.

So, which of these superyacht interiors did you prefer?

Yacht Interior Design Trends: Luxury Living on Board

Michael Castorino Articles

Luxury yachts are highly customized, high-end vessels designed for the ultimate in comfort, style, and functionality. If you have the opportunity to customize every aspect of your vessel’s interior and exterior,  you’d want your yacht to look like an expression and extension of you.

Fortunately, the world of luxury yachts is continually evolving, with designers and builders pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in terms of design, technology, and comfort. Yacht interior design trends often mirror broader interior design trends. Still, they also have their own unique characteristics and considerations due to the limited space and specific needs of yacht living.

Timeless Interior Design Trends for Luxury Yachts

If you just got yourself a new vessel or are planning to revamp the interior of your old one, here are some interior design trends to keep in mind:

  • Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Living: The seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces is a telltale sign of luxury yachts. Foldable or retractable glass doors, outdoor lounges, and dining areas create a fluid connection to the sea and surrounding nature.
  • Open and Airy Layouts: To create a sense of space and connection to the surrounding ocean, open and airy layouts with large windows and open-plan designs are largely favored in luxury yachts. These layouts maximize natural light and panoramic views, allowing you to make the best of your cruise.
  • Timeless Elegance: Classic, timeless design elements such as rich woods, marble surfaces, and luxurious fabrics continue to be popular choices for luxury yacht interiors. These materials exude opulence and never go out of style.
  • Customization: Personalization is key in luxury yacht interior design. Yacht owners often work closely with interior designers to create bespoke furnishings, fixtures, and decorative elements that reflect their unique tastes and preferences.
  • Innovative Technology: State-of-the-art technology is a must in luxury yacht interiors. Smart lighting, audiovisual systems, climate control, and security features can be seamlessly integrated into the design for convenience and luxury.
  • Artistic Expression: Yacht owners often use their vessels as a canvas for artistic expression. This can include commissioned artwork, sculptures, and unique decor pieces that reflect the owner’s personality. Including an art piece or a custom-made painting is a good way to make your interior stand out.
  • Innovative Lighting: LED lighting continues to be a popular choice for its energy efficiency and versatility. Lighting design can create different moods and atmospheres throughout the yacht. This is a good option at your disposal when you want the interior to match your moment, whether it’s a party or if you just want to relax.
  • Spa-Like Bathrooms: Bathrooms on luxury yachts are designed to resemble spa retreats. Features like Jacuzzi tubs, steam showers, and high-end fixtures offer a sense of indulgence. If you’d like to treat yourself to a soothing bath when you are relaxing on a distant shore, this is a good way to go.
  • Wellness Spaces: Wellness is a growing trend in luxury yacht design. Some yachts feature onboard gyms, and spa areas with massage rooms, saunas, and even yoga studios to promote relaxation and well-being .
  • Nautical Themes: Some luxury yacht owners opt for nautical-themed interiors, incorporating elements like porthole windows, rope accents, and marine-inspired color palettes for a classic maritime ambiance.

20 of the World’s Most Luxurious Yachts

Yachts represent luxury at its highest level, but even so, not all yachts and tenders are created equal. When it comes to the world’s most luxurious yachts, they include features and amenities that were designed to cater to the world’s most pretentious individuals. Bedrooms with queen-sized beds and glass chandeliers just don’t cut it anymore. The world’s elite expects plush king-sized beds, crystal chandeliers, powerful engines, and even helipads. The yachts that you’re about to admire are the best of the best in their class, meaning that we’re not going to include large superyachts exclusively.

In some cases, motor yachts offer that perfect blend of comfort, speed, and versatility. Ideal for shorter trips or weekend getaways, these yachts are synonymous with freedom without compromise. Now that we’re done with introductions, let’s have a look at the world’s most luxurious yachts and superyachts.

20. Sirena 64 Yacht.

Created by a Turkish shipyard named Sirena Yachts, the Sirena 64 yacht is a chic long-range cruising vessel that measures in at 68 feet or 20 meters. Obviously, this isn’t the largest yacht in the world, that’s not necessarily a bad thing, as some customers are simply looking for smaller, more nimble, and lighter yachts for their cruising needs.

The interior layout sketched out by Spadolini Design Studio includes several large living spaces, including the bow with its luxe Jacuzzi, and the flybridge area. As far as accommodations are concerned, Sirena 64 offers two en-suite staterooms for guests, while the owners benefit from their own 258-square-feet master suite, which is complemented by a full-beam bathroom. There’s also an optional cabin for 2 crew members on board, which means that eight people can be accommodated on board this vessel at any given time.

Light and airy, the yacht boasts high-quality light-colored fabrics and furnishings, as well as dark wood floors and ceilings for a touch of contrast. The lower decks benefit from LED illumination, which complements the natural lighting provided by the windows. The flybridge measures 410 square feet, and it was designed with entertainment in mind. There’s also a teak swim platform at sea level, a private dining area, and several sunbeds.

Sirena 64 further benefits from a semi-displacement GRP hull and a pair of CAT C12.9 engines that enable a top speed of 27 knots. The yacht is priced at about $1.6 million, which is definitely not an overwhelming sum in the yachting world.

19. Arcadia Yachts Sherpa.

While fully solar-powered vessels are still a bit far into the future at the time of writing, we’re happy to report that forward-thinking companies such as Arcadia Yachts are taking steps in the right direction. What we have here is the Arcadia Yachts Sherpa, which measures 55-feet in length and is available in various configurations that are designed to suit its owner’s needs to the letter.

The name “Sherpa” is related to the Nepalese people that inhabit the most mountainous region of the Himalayas, and it is a fitting, graceful name if you ask us. The vessel’s versatility is proven by two superstructure configurations, one of which includes an open deck perfectly suited for cargo transport, while the other offers a saloon deck. No matter the choice, Sherpa’s lower deck can include one, two, or three cabins, but we should also mention the galley, bridge, and dining area.

Yes, Arcadia Yachts has decided to implement solar panels into its new creation, panels that harness the power of the sun to animate all of the vessel’s onboard systems. The panels are built-in directly into the superstructure, by the way. Thanks to a selection of lightweight materials, the yacht can reach a respectable cruising speed of 20 knots, while the top speed sits at 25 knots.

The Arcadia Yachts Sherpa is the proud winner of two awards at World Yachts Trophies, namely “Most innovative yacht from 50 to 80 feet” , and “ Boat of the Year in the motor yacht category.”

18. Sanlorenzo SL96 Special Edition Superyacht.

Built specifically for the Chinese market by the renowned Italian shipyard Sanlorenzo, the Sanlorenzo SL96 superyacht is in a league of its own when it comes to comfort, spaciousness, and lavishness. This contemporary masterpiece measures 96 feet in length and was designed by the CEO of Sanlorenzo China Holding himself, Traugott Kaminski.

Flaunting 3 decks in total, the Sanlorenzo SL96 offers a high degree of privacy for its fortunate owners, and that’s because the Chinese prefer to use their superyachts for business endeavors or formal entertaining opportunities. Therefore, the yacht was designed in such a way that it would allow the crewmembers to go about their business without disturbing the owners and their guests in any way.

Speaking of the crew members, it’s worth noting that their accommodations can be found at the front part of the lower deck, and they include 2 cabins for up to 4 members. These cabins feature their own showers and ensuite toilets, which means that the crew would always look respectable and would be ready to provide irreproachable service as needed. As with many other Sanlorenzo superyachts, the SL96 is highly customizable and built specifically according to its owner’s preference. For this particular vessel, Traugott Kaminski designed vast open spaces that are flooded with natural light thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows.

Accommodations for the guests involve 4 cabins for up to 10 people. The owner’s suite flaunts high-end amenities as well as walk-in showers for 2 and double vanity units, but the VIP cabin is definitely quite impressive as well. The “regular” guests would find more than adequate sleeping arrangements in 2 guest cabins that feature a pair of single beds as well as a pull-down bed each.

As you would expect from a yacht of this caliber, the Sanlorenzo SL96 includes only the finest materials in its composition, materials such as marble, leather, and European wood. As far as entertainment is concerned, the flybridge includes its own Jacuzzi, a dining table, a flat-screen TV, a special teppanyaki cooking station and a comfortable lounging area.

The active types will be glad to know that the vessel can also carry 2 jet skis as well as a large tender boat in its lower deck. We invite you to have a look at the following images in order to admire this glorious superyacht yourself.

17. Mangusta Oceano 42 Superyacht.

What we have here is a superyacht that was designed to inspire. Its spacious decks, luxurious living arrangements, and exceptional power output make it ideal for relaxing cruising trips all over the world, but honestly, we would expect nothing less from Mangusta, which is an Overmarine Group Brand since 1985. The Mangusta Oceano 42 measures 141 feet in length, or just about 42 meters, and its unique three-deck design was envisioned by Maurizio Balducci.

Boasting a full-aluminum displacement, which is a first for this particular company, this yacht is as elegant as it is imposing, and since it is powered by a pair of MTU 12V 2000 M72 engines, it can reach a cruising speed of 11 knots while offering a generous range of 5,000 nm. The top speed is 15 knots, by the way.

All that aside, it’s time to have a look at some of its most important features, including the social U-shape area, the open sunbathing deck space, and the bar. There’s also a beach club and a bridge deck that comes with its own private breakfast area and wind-free zone, which offers perfect opportunities for relaxation. The foredeck is an open space that comprises an infinity pool and a series of large sun pads.

Accommodation-wise, there are two double cabins and two twin cabins for guests, while the owner benefits from his own lavish cabin. For the crew, the Mangusta Oceano 42 offers three twin cabins, and there’s also a separate cabin reserved for the captain.

16. Aria.S Superyacht.

Representing the very first vessel from Arcadia Yachts’ 100 series, the Aria.S superyacht is as luxurious as it is eco-friendly. Usually, yachts need to use up a lot of fuel in order to be able to ensure the comfort of their passengers, to say nothing of the speeds they need to achieve in order to reach their destinations in a timely manner. However, Aria.S actually includes a series of photovoltaic cells on top of its superstructure, which ensures a total output of 5 kW – plenty of power for all of the vessel’s electrical systems and equipment.

The modern and sleek shape of the yacht’s body was sketched out by Arcadia Yachts in collaboration with Francesco Guida Design and the National Physical Laboratory Of England. When it comes to amenities, we should mention the Skydeck with its Arcadia Wheel, and the L-shaped lounging area that offers perfect opportunities for relaxation and fun. The low-profile interior design complemented by sliding doors give off a functional, minimalistic vibe, while the main decor elements include shades of red and gray.

Hopefully, we’ll be able to present more vessels such as this in the near future, as we believe that eco-friendliness should eventually find its way to some of the world’s most important industries, whether we’re talking about yacht building, motorcycles, cars, and even aircraft.

15. Invictus 280SX Yacht.

The highly appreciated SX series from Invictus Yachts has just received a new member. We’re talking about the Invictus 280SX, of course, a beautiful vessel equipped with contemporary technologies and classic comforts. Designed with performance and leisure in mind, the 280SX measures in at  8.70 meters, which is just a bit over 28 feet. Its impressive performance comes courtesy of a 350-horsepower engine, which is able to deliver a top speed of 38 knots. However, while cruising at 21 knots, this little yacht will offer a perfect balance between speed and range.

The back of the vessel houses a swimming platform, while the front area includes a generously-sized cockpit. We say generously-sized because it is large enough for up to six people, which is quite impressive considering the overall length of the boat. At the console area, the owner is treated to an L-shaped sofa, while an auxiliary C-shaped sofa covers the bow.

While the standard configuration should prove adequate for most clients, you can always customize the Invictus 280SX according to your own tastes and preferences.

14. Invictus 370GT Yacht.

We’ve covered quite a few massive yachts here on Luxefeed. However, it’s time to take a closer look at a smaller vessel, but one that’s impressive nonetheless. We’ll give credit where credit is due: Invictus 370GT impressed us with its clean design, outstanding performance, and stylish interiors, but we were most impressed by its ability to meet multiple roles.

To clarify, this yacht saw the limelight for the first time in 2016 at the Cannes Yachting Festival. Even though it works just fine as a luxury vessel for casual cruising, Invictus 370GT can also fill the role of a chase boat or tender for a larger yacht.

Invictus 370GT bears the signature touch of Anna Fendi. As such, it features unique design motifs inspired by leather goods and customized travel cases. Since we’re on the topic of interiors, the owner’s cabin is of particular interest. That’s because this particular space actually resembles a classic travel case. Bespoke tableware and a mirrored forward bulkhead with nickel elements somehow remind us of another one of Fendi’s projects, the Villa Laetitia hotel.

Exterior highlights comprise a reverse bow, ivory caulking, teak decks, and a stunningly beautiful sculpted hull.

13. Q30 Electric Yacht.

What makes the Q30 electric yacht stand out? Most modern-day yachts boast imposing designs that mirror their impressive performance capabilities. However, when it comes to eco-friendliness, they’re not exactly the greenest of the bunch. It’s true that the world’s top yacht makers have equipped their latest creations with eco-friendly features, which help minimize their impact on the environment. Still, nothing truly compares to an actual electric yacht.

The good people over at Q Yachts are introducing their Q30 electric yacht, which boasts complete independence from fossil fuels. It is a sleek, simple-looking vessel with a crisp white design that will still turn a few heads whenever it makes an appearance.

The Q30 features an Ocean Volt system, which is basically an electric motor capable of delivering 20kW of continuous power. The motor is 100% emission-free, and it is incredibly quiet. This improves the owner’s comfort while also making sure that the local fauna remains undisturbed. The motor gets its juice from a 30kWh lithium battery pack, which can be upgraded to a 60kWh pack upon request.

The Q30 electric yacht measures 9.3 meters, and it can reach a top speed of 15 knots. However, its cruising speed is somewhere at around 9 knots. At this speed, the overall range reaches 42 or 80nm depending on the battery pack.

12. Damen SeaXplorer 77 Superyacht.

Superyachts are designed to be impressive from the ground up, whether we’re talking about their exteriors or their interiors. And while it’s true that it’s probably hard to find a dull superyacht in the world, some of them are undoubtedly more amazing than others. The 77-meter Damen SeaXplorer77 is a great example, as everything about it just screams “extravagance.”

It bears the brand of a Dutch shipyard that’s well-known for its quality vessels. The SeaXplorer77 belongs to an anonymous buyer, but one thing is obvious: the client wanted it to be as large as possible. He definitely got his wish from what we see, as this vessel can house not one but two helicopters.

As its name suggests, the Damen SeaXplorer77 is perfect for braving the world’s most unwelcoming waters. It excels in remote areas, and since incorporates two helidecks and two hangars, it provides access to these areas with ease. Rose Damen, commercial director of yachting for the Dutch company, explained:

“It not only has a fully certified helideck for safe landings, but it also has a standby surface for a backup helicopter. Both helicopters can fit in the below-deck hangar, so they’re protected from the elements.”

Just in case you’re curious, these two helicopters will be Airbus ACH125 models. Other noteworthy highlights comprise a dive and submersible center, jet skis, snowmobiles, and a separate ski room. When it comes to accommodations, the vessel is large enough for 12 guests and a crew of 25. It’s not particularly slow either, as it can reach a very respectable cruising speed of 14.5 knots.

11. Riva 110’ Dolcevita Yacht.

Those of you who are familiar with the Ferretti Group will undoubtedly appreciate Riva, one of the group’s brands and one of the world’s best yacht makers. Riva recently launched a very special vessel at the Yacht Club de Monaco. It is one of its larger yachts, and it bears the name Riva 100′ Dolcevita. A lovely title, wouldn’t you agree?

When it comes to power, we’re looking at two MTU 12V 2000 M96L engines. This powertrain ensures enough juice for a top speed of 24 knots. However, if the range is truly important to you, a cruising speed of 22 knots will ensure the best of both worlds when it comes to speed and fuel efficiency.

The unique design of the Riva 110’ Dolcevita is the hard work of the engineering department of the Ferretti Group alongside Officina Italiana Design and the Strategic Product Committee. Inside, there’s enough room for 20 guests, as well as a plethora of high-end conveniences.

Alberto Galassi, CEO of the Ferretti Group, had a few words to say about this splendid 33-meter masterpiece:

“For the largest Riva ship, we have chosen the name of a time that is still endowed with sparkle and charm. The Dolcevita is a truly Italian style indication, the happy combination where good construction and the good life come together. Cruising on this amazing 33-meter yacht is an aesthetic and emotional experience.”

10. Benetti Air Yacht (Benetti Queen M).

One of the most iconic yachts to grace the world’s seas, the Benetti Queen M, has received a complete refit in 2013. The yacht in question was launched back in 1998, and even then, it set new standards in the world of luxury on seas. Measuring in at 50 meters, the superyacht also received a brand new name, which signifies new beginnings and a breath of fresh air. The Benetti Air is now a contemporary charter yacht, which means that you could take it out for a spin provided you had the cash for it. Small enough to brave the waters of bays and anchorages, Benetti Air is also large enough to host large groups in lavish conditions.

The yacht’s improvements include a complete exterior revamp, as well as redesigned interiors. The nautically inspired main saloon is just one of the most noteworthy highlights, but we should also mention the welcoming and luxurious cabins and the full-beam private apartment located on the upper deck. There are five cabins available in total, which are enough for up to 10 guests. On-board toys include a flyboard, diving gear, a Seadoo watercraft, Seabobs, kayaks, and even fishing gear.

Of course, you could always kick back and enjoy the view from the Jacuzzi, or sip on some delicious cocktails at the wet bar and raised lounge. In order to be able to enjoy these amenities, you’ll have to fork out $210,000 per week. All things considered, that’s not a bad deal at all.

9. Wajer 55 S Motor Yacht.

Not everybody can afford a lavish superyacht, that’s true. But maybe, just maybe, not everybody needs one. If you’re more of a watersport fan, you’ll definitely be better off with a sleek and powerful motor yacht. In comes the Wajer 55 S, a dashing vessel created by Dutch shipyard Wajer Yachts.

Powered by a trio of 435-hp Volvo Penta IPS600 engines, this boat’s top speed surpasses 40 knots, which is enough to impress even the most demanding enthusiast. Power aside, the Wajer 55 S is equipped with a plethora of amenities, which is quite impressive for its size. Its outdoor galley, for example, includes a grill, an icemaker, and a refrigerator. Therefore, you’ll definitely be able to enjoy the view and relax after you’ve put those engines through their paces.

Well, it’s a comfortable experience, that’s for sure. That’s all thanks to a set of forward-facing Stidd captain’s seats and a pair of useful Garmin touchscreens. When it comes to finishes, we should mention the hardtop roof, which comes with a set of removable panels. Once removed, the extra space enhances the lounging area, but the panels can also serve as protection from the sun if the need arises.

Overall, the Wajer 55 S motor yacht ticks all the right boxes when it comes to performance and comfort. It’s hard to imagine anyone finding a serious flaw in this particular vessel, and that says a lot!

8. Sunseeker 76 yacht.

We’ve featured our fair share of Sunseeker yachts here at Luxefeed. There’s a good reason for that too. The British yacht builder is one of the most respected in the world, and we definitely enjoy presenting their newest creations, as they’re always in trend when it comes to design and practicality. Sure, a yacht needs to be luxurious, but it also needs to be quick and comfortable.

The Sunseeker 76 yacht ticks all the right boxes, and even though it measures just 76 feet in length, it’s definitely large enough to make you feel like royalty. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more impressive foredeck social area on a 76-foot yacht. Moreover, the back of the flybridge could house a hot tub with ease, but these are just a few of the vessel’s main highlights. This yacht boasts an open-plan main deck, as well as wenge hardwood flooring and silver-oak interior woodwork. Then there’s the chef’s galley, the two large lounging areas, 360-degree windows, and a modern helm station that meets the most demanding requirements when it comes to equipment and performance.

Speaking of performance, the vessel is powered by a pair of 1,550-hp MAN engines that ensure a respectable top speed of 32 knots and a range of 400 nautical miles. During your stay, you could always relax on the two large sunbeds, or at one of the three large outdoor social areas, each equipped with tables and lounges. The Sunseeker 76 yacht was built for wellness and relaxation, and it is undoubtedly one of the best vessels in its class.

7. Azimut 55 Yacht.

It’s true that it’s not the largest yacht in the world, but Azimut 55 is arguably one of the most impressive vessels of 2018 at the time of writing. That’s because it offers a fantastic mix of high speeds, maneuverability, and lavishness. This small yacht is scheduled to make a debut at Boot Dusseldorf this year.

With a rather large and spacious flybridge, the vessel offers a secondary living area at its rear, which is sheltered from prying eyes. However, the main deck was designed specifically for social activities, which is why it includes a sun lounging area in the bow. Shading is provided by a large bimini top, while the backrest is versatile enough to serve as both a sun lounger and a chaise longue.

Azimut 55 was put together using high-end materials, that’s for sure. These include grey zebrawood and dark oak, bronze, and steel, while a glossy black lacquer adds a final touch of luxuriousness. The main accommodations are located on the lower deck. That’s where we’ll find two double cabins at the bow, as well as a full-beam owner’s cabin with rectangular windows. Performance-wise, Azimut 55 is powered by 800 hp MAN engines, which guarantee a top speed of 31 knots.

6. Elements Motor Yacht.

The living standard for ordinary people nowadays rivals with that of the old Kings. However, the luxury world is constantly evolving, and with it, so is the yachting industry. Nothing spells lavishness quite like an expensive and imposing superyacht. The Elements Motor Yacht is a step ahead of the competition, and you’re about to find out exactly why.

First of all, this vessel measures 262 feet in length, which is about 80 meters. It’s not the largest yacht on the seas by any measure, but it’s large enough to make its owner feel like royalty. Its unique architecture was envisioned by Alfa Marine, and its interior layout is spacious enough for up to 24 guests and a crew of 19. Sketched out by Cristiano Gatto, the interiors are clad with expensive materials such as fine leathers, plush linens, and the finest woods.

Accommodations comprise a superb master suite complemented by four double staterooms, a pair of VIP staterooms, four regular twin cabins, and a smaller twin cabin.

The Elements Motor Yacht is animated by a pair of MTU 16V 4000 M63L diesel engines. The engines ensure a top speed of 18 knots, while a pair of stabilizers make sure that everything stays on your plate while the yacht is anchored. Onboard, the owner and his guests will enjoy access to a plethora of conveniences. These include a spa pool, a beach club, a hammam, a cinema, and an elevator that connects the four decks.

5. Dynamiq GTT 115 Superyacht.

Some time ago, we told you about the GTT 115 hybrid yacht project. You know, the one that was designed by Design Studio Studio F. A. Porsche and built by Dynamiq. Well, it looks like this monumental vessel has finally hit the waves, and we’re proud to present the very first official images of it.

As you can see, the yacht meets and surpasses the most excessive requirements in terms of luxury and lavishness. The fine choice of materials for the interior is definitely something that we’d expect from Dynamiq, especially given the Porsche collaboration. Measuring in at 35 meters in length, the GTT 115 will be a part of a limited edition of just 7 units. Therefore, yachting enthusiasts from all over the world will be racing to get their hands on one of these vessels.

It’s definitely worth noting that this particular model includes features that were never seen before in the yachting world. These include the first superyacht on the market infused with the design spirit of Studio F. A. Porsche, the first to blend a top speed of 21 knots speed with Transat range, and the first yacht equipped with two engine rooms in this size category. Moreover, this is the first yacht that can be configured and ordered completely online.

Speaking of which, if you’re interested in owning one, you should know that there’s only one place where you can configure it. Fortunately, all you have to do is visit Dynamiq’s official configurator for the GTT 115. Powered by a duo of MAN diesel engines, the yacht boasts 3,250 horsepower, but we should also mention the 20.8 kW electric motors. These motors might not seem like much, but they can enable a top speed of 6 knots alone, while the diesel engines ensure a 21-knot speed.

Priced at €12,5 million, the Porsche-designed GTT 115 hybrid yacht by Dynamiq is definitely intimidating, but it’s also worth every penny.

4. Gio Chi Thè Superyacht by Codecasa.

The Italian shipyard Codecasa has been around since 1825, but after it unveiled its Vintage Series about six years ago, it started on a true path to greatness. As the years passed, so did the shipyard’s renown, especially since its experts strived to design and create purely exceptional, classic-looking vessels that are as gorgeous as they are expensive.

Codecasa’s Gio Chi Thè Superyacht represents the pinnacle of years of research and development, as it offers an ideal combination of contemporary technologies, an elegant layout, and a traditional look. Some of its most impressive highlights include spacious outdoor areas that provide ideal opportunities for relaxation and entertainment, particularly the sun deck. This area comes with its own Jacuzzi and built-in sun pads, while the Portuguese deck is perfect for socialization and fun.

As far as accommodations are concerned, we’re looking at two double bed cabins and two twin cabins that were outfitted with modern amenities and colorful decor elements that help create a warm, welcoming ambiance. The master suite comes with its own private office, and it distinguishes itself from the other cabins with a luxurious flair.

Power-wise, the Gio Chi Thè superyacht boasts a pair of Caterpillar 3512C that ensure a  top speed of 16.5 knots as far as light displacement conditions are met. The generous cruising range of 4,000 nautical miles can be achieved at 11 knots, though, which is still respectable for a 43-meter (141-foot) vessel.

3. Eco-Friendly Arcadia 85S Yacht.

If you’re looking for a luxurious and eco-friendly yacht, you should definitely check out some of Arcadia Yachts’ offerings. Our suggestion for the day is represented by the Arcadia 85S yacht, which offers a perfect mix of comfort, sleek looks, and eco-friendly technologies.

Keep in mind that we’re not talking about electric propulsion here, as the 85S is powered by two 730-hp MAN diesel engines. Since we’re on the subject, the engines ensure a top speed of 18 knots, while a 12 knot cruising speed is enough to guarantee a range of 850 nautical miles.

Set to be unveiled during the 2017 edition of the Cannes Yacht Festival, this new Arcadia masterpiece is a clear improvement when compared to the original 85 models. Accommodations include a lavish 345-square-feet master suite, a VIP double cabin at the bow, and two twin cabins. There’s also enough space for a two-person jet ski and a 14-foot tender, but we should definitely mention the sky deck, the open-plan saloon, the small winter garden, and the exceptional dining area.

So where’s the eco-friendliness coming from? Well, that part is taken care of by the 400 square feet of electric solar panels, a high-end set of lithium batteries, and a few skylights. The solar panels offer a power output of 3.5 kilowatts, which ensure plenty of juice for the yacht’s systems, including the water pumps, refrigerators, and audio/video equipment.

2. Sanlorenzo SX88 Yacht.

What makes a yacht perfect anyway? Most of them are luxurious and comfortable, and modern ones are able to traverse the oceans without a care in the world, which means that yacht builders need to get creative when they design and build these exquisite vessels nowadays.

Today, we’re going to focus on a fantastic 27-meter motor yacht named Sanlorenzo SX88, which was unveiled for the first time in September during the 2017 Cannes Yachting Festival. Boasting a GRP hull and a carbon fiber superstructure, the vessel comes with exquisite interiors envisioned by an Italian designer named Piero Lissoni. Naturally, the buyer has the final word when it comes to decorations and materials, which means that each Sanlorenzo SX88 is quite unique in its own way. As for the exterior, it was sketched out by Officina Italiana Design, and it involves a semi-displacement hull created with performance in mind.

The best part is that this vessel was built to have very little impact on the environment. Keep in mind that it can reach a top speed of 23 knots, but precise details about the powertrain are vague at the time of writing. Described as a “Copernican revolution,” this masterpiece blends the most important elements of an explorer yacht and a flybridge yacht into a very promising package.

Consequently, more than six hulls of the SX88 range have already been sold. Keep an eye out on Sanlorenzo’s official website for updates and more information regarding this upcoming range.

1. Heesen Maia Yacht.

Dutch shipyard Heesen Yachts has created a truly monumental superyacht dubbed Maia – a name inspired by a shining star in the Taurus constellation. The vessel in question measures 50 meters or 164 feet in length, and it boasts a full displacement design that will soon amaze yacht lovers from all over the world. The project is still in construction, but its exterior layout envisioned by Clifford Den is almost complete, while the interiors sketched out by Reymond Langton will surely be something to write home about.

Up to ten guests will find exquisite accommodations onboard the Maia, all thanks to its five lavish staterooms, including a sumptuous master suite that’s packed with high-end amenities. The main highlights onboard comprise a beach club with a sauna and a bar, and plenty of space for tenders, just in case the guests are feeling adventurous.

The Heesen Maia yacht is powered by a pair of MTU engines, which ensure a range of 3,800 nm at 12 knots. Blogs Luxury Living on Water: Yacht and Waterfront Homes

lux living yacht

The allure of luxury living on water sends a thrill through the hearts of affluent people seeking tranquility in their lives and real estate investments. From expansive yachts to stunning waterfront homes, these expressions of opulence offer unequaled experiences and views that ordinary residential setups fall short of providing.

For the elite who prioritize privacy, living on water offers an exclusive getaway. Being on open water allows them to escape the prying eyes of the public and the frenzy of urban living, while not compromising on the comfort and elegance they desire. This luxury lifestyle also boasts exquisite master suites with panoramic water views, offering an experience unmatched by conventional real estate. Examples are the Floating villas (Yachts) and the waterfront homes.

-Floating villas

In the realm of breathtaking and innovative architectural designs, floating villas stand out as a novel trend that entices keen property investors and luxury home seekers alike. These stunning structures are not only aesthetically pleasing but also practically designed to resist flood and rising sea levels, a response to environmental challenges posed by global warming. Floating villas are revolutionizing the housing industry by creating a new wave of luxury living. With varieties to choose from between static and mobile villas, and an array of stunning global locations, these properties successfully merge luxury, innovation, and sustainability.

Types of Floating Villas

Typically, there are two main types of floating villas: static floating villas and mobile floating villas.

Static Floating Villas

Static floating villas, as the name suggests, are permanently fixed structures on water bodies, such as lakes, rivers, and sea bays. These villas provide the perfect synthesis of land-based luxury living and the enchanting appeal of waterborne life. They are built on stable platforms to guarantee safety and resistance to water currents and wave intensity. High-tech building materials like reinforced concrete or treated wood are commonly used in construction for durability and water resistance.

Mobile Floating Villas

More adventurous are the mobile floating villas. These villas resemble luxury yachts in operation but are designed with the aesthetic appeal, comfort, and spaciousness of a villa. Mobile floating villas make it possible for owners to change scenery at will, cruising through water bodies without leaving their comfort zone.

A case in point is The Citadel, a floating apartment complex in the Netherlands offering luxury floating villas with sustainable features like green roofs and energy-efficient systems. Also, another noteworthy location is Dubai with its innovative Floating Seahorse Villas. These villas offer an intimate view of the underwater world, featuring submerged bedrooms and bathrooms. Located in The Heart of Europe cluster within Dubai’s World Islands, they provide an unrivaled blend of luxury and unique maritime experience.

-Waterfront Homes

Waterfront homes are particularly popular due to the incredible views they offer, which have become a treasured feature among many home buyers. These properties, located along the coastline or by the banks of rivers and lakes, provide beautiful sea or river views right from the comfort of one’s abode. Homes situated along the bank of a calm, serene lake or the exhilarating coastline possess an ambiance that is noticeably different from inland dwellings. Apart from the aesthetic advantage, these homes provide an opportunity for water-based recreational activities such as sailing, swimming, and fishing, adding more value to their allure.

Architecturally, waterfront homes are designed to harmonize with the surrounding landscapes and offer unhindered views of the water. This involves generous use of glass, spacious decks or patios, and open floor plans. Besides aesthetics, these design elements bring in natural light and ventilation, contributing to a pleasant and healthy indoor environment.

Waterfront properties, much like their floating counterparts, combine opulence with tranquility. They offer wealthy homeowners an opportunity to live amidst nature while enjoying modern amenities. Whether it’s a home overlooking the Mediterranean’s sparkling blue waters or a lakeside estate ensconced in tranquility, waterfront homes deliver a blend of luxury and serenity that’s hard to rival.

-Challenges and Considerations

Despite their allure, luxury yachts and waterfront homes come with their own sets of challenges. Yachts require significant maintenance, much of which must be done by skilled professionals. Additionally, depreciation can affect resale values, and there are considerable costs for berthing, insurance, and crew salaries.

Similarly, waterfront estate owners often need to consider additional costs associated with insurance, as these properties could be at a higher risk from natural calamities like hurricanes and floods. Zoning restrictions can also limit what alterations can be made to the homes.

In conclusion, choosing luxury living on water, whether on a yacht or in a waterfront home, offers substantial rewards—unique experiences, breathtaking views, tranquility, and privacy. However, the decision should also factor in the associated costs, maintenance requirements, and potential risks. As such, potential buyers must conduct thorough research to ensure it is a suitable lifestyle choice and a wise investment opportunity.

According to Boat International, the superyacht industry has shown robust growth, with a record number of superyachts built just last year. More than 1,200 superyacht projects were on the global order books in 2023, a 17.5% increase compared to previous years. With a boom in charters, new builds, and technology, demand is expected to continue well into 2024 and beyond. Younger clients are becoming more enticed by the yachting industry, with the average age of superyacht owners now being between 35 and 45.

This year’s yacht events will be center stage at some of the most stunning destinations across the globe. Displaying the best craftsmanship, advancements, and amenities the boat industry has to offer, here are some impressive yacht shows you won’t want to miss.

Palm Beach International Boat Show:

March 21 – 24

Coming this spring, the most prestigious names within the yachting industry will be gathering for four days at the Palm Beach International Boat Show. Over 800 vessels will be featured as well as the finest superyacht lifestyle products. Some of the hundreds of boats include 8-foot RIBS as well as powerboats, sailboats, fishing boats, and motor boats. Known as one of the best networking opportunities within the yachting industry, more than 55,000 boat aficionados, such as manufacturers, brokers, and distributors from all over the world, will be in attendance. In fact, the show is anticipated to bring in $1.05 billion to the South Florida economy. The event also offers a VIP experience, which is an indoor and outdoor oasis with early admission to the show, a premium open bar, delicious food, and much more. For those looking to find their perfect, personalized vessel or check out the latest boating technology and marine products, here is a layout of the boat show map.

Seeking both convenience and luxury? HotelPlanner recommends the Canopy by Hilton West Palm Beach Downtown. Situated within a mile of the Palm Beach International Boat Show, Canopy boasts an array of amenities, such as a rooftop pool and a bar lounge, with nightly rates starting at just $798.

Mediterranean Yacht Show 2024:

April 27 – May 1

Returning once again to the beautiful Greek island of Nafplio, the Mediterranean Yacht Show presents yacht owners and brokers the ultimate opportunity to showcase their luxury crewed vessels. The shows will attract even more interest for this year’s 8th annual event as boating professionals prepare for what is expected to be the busiest summer charter season in recent years. Regarded as the world’s largest crewed charter show, over 3,500 LOA luxury yachts will be on display, 750 brokers are slated to be in attendance, and 42 exhibitors will be available. Located off the Argolic Gulf, this breathtaking destination also provides a variety of social programs for attendees, in addition to the numerous vessels anchored in the marina. Whether you decide to relax after a day of exploration or are in search of some fun, visitors can try out the renowned soirées while taking in the gorgeous views.

For the perfect oasis away from the yacht show’s bustling activities and crowds, check out the Amalia Hotel. This resort was originally built to reflect the town’s rich culture and history. Surrounded by beautiful gardens and palm trees, the neoclassical architecture creates a spacious flow, providing guests with complete relaxation. By booking through HotelPlanner, a classic room with either double or twin beds starts at $109.

Cannes Yachting Festival:

September 10 – 15

The Cannes Yachting Festival is one of the world’s most famous nautical events and the largest in-water yacht show in the Mediterranean. The six-day celebration regularly draws more than 50,000 visitors and includes a range of vessels from 5 to 50 meters in length. Located in the timeless French Riviera, guests can explore a retinue of the popular boats, tenders, and different elements of the luxury yachting lifestyle. As a fun element, a select number of brands offer daily sea trials aboard their unique vessels. In addition to this, seminars are offered throughout the festival, as well as competitions and demonstrations. To shake things up, a new sector will be presented in dedication to new motor boats that are over eight meters long. For those interested, this display will be located in Port Canto, one of the two beautiful ports in Cannes. For those looking to get back to land, a special selection of outboard engines will be available in town. A staggering 700 vessels will be shown throughout the celebration, including water, sailing, motor, monohull, multihull, rigid, and semi-rigid hull boats. To capture the prestigious moments of Europe’s top in-water boat show, an estimated 592 journalists will be in attendance from 5 continents.

Less than 10 minutes away from the Vieux Port lies the gorgeous Hotel Barriere Le Majestic. There are over 250 rooms within the hotel, which faces the Mediterranean Sea and overlooks the famous steps of Palais des Festivals. Located on La Croisette, the charming hotel is also a fantastic place for foodies hoping to taste some incredible Mediterranean dishes.

Abu Dhabi International Boat Show:

November 21 – 24

As the leading maritime and leisure event in the Middle East, boat fanatics from across the globe will get to experience a unique display of yachts at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center’s marina. The three-day event will take place at the newly completed waterfront hall, making it one of the few boat shows in the world to offer visitors indoor and outdoor nautical events simultaneously. Live demonstrations and interactive experiences will be available throughout the 40,000-square-meter facility. Outside of the traditional yacht show, the Abu Dhabi International Boat Show will offer exclusive lifestyle programs with showcases of water sports and other special marine technology from local and international brands. More than 34,000 guests are guaranteed the opportunity to generate new quality leads and present their brand in front of the industry’s most notable figures or potential customers.

HotelPlanner highly recommends the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental for the ultimate getaway experience. Described as a symbol of luxury in Abu Dhabi, the hotel offers guests a variety of vacation packages with full access to a private beach. Nestled in an optimal location for boat show attendees, this exceptional resort enhances the overall experience for travelers, offering the indulgence of world-class amenities and impeccable service.

In 2024, anticipation is high for an exceptional year of yacht shows across the globe. With the maritime industry thriving and luxury travel experiences high in demand, yacht enthusiasts and industry professionals alike are eagerly awaiting to showcase the latest innovations and designs in the world of yachting. From the glamorous Mediterranean shores to the white sand beaches of Florida, this year’s yacht shows promise an even bigger and better spectacle than ever before. Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

lux living yacht

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

lux living yacht

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

lux living yacht

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

lux living yacht

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

lux living yacht

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

lux living yacht

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

lux living yacht

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

Yacht Life: 8 Things You’ll Love About Living on a Yacht

What’s it like living on a yacht.

For many people, a property with an ocean view is the most coveted type of property there is. No matter the season, gazing out into the vast ocean and watching the sunset can be a breathtaking experience.

Yacht Life: Living on a Yacht

The Yachting Lifestyle

When you see a luxury yacht moored at your local marina, do you ever find yourself wondering what life on board is like?

Simply put, it does not matter what type of yacht you’re on. Life on a yacht is purely what you make of it.

Here are 8 things you’ll love about life on a yacht:

Time to Relax

Life on a yacht is as calm and quiet as you want it to be, ensuring you have tons of time to relax and escape the stresses of everyday life on land. No matter the size or speed of your boat, you’ll be free from the constant hum of traffic, that annoying barking dog, and your neighbour’s noisy toddler. You’ll escape everything else you didn’t even know was stressing you out.

Privacy & Security

Many yacht owners say one of the things they most appreciate about life on the water is how much privacy they have. When you live on a yacht, you won’t have to deal with things like unexpected guests popping by or keeping the curtains closed and the doors locked at nighttime.

Exploring the World

One of the things most yacht owners love is the freedom to pick up and go whenever the mood strikes. Yachting is the ultimate way to travel and explore the world from port to port to port. You’ll never have to sleep in the same spot twice, and you will finally be able to travel with that friend or relative who fears flying.

Making Memories

Whether you do it for a few days, a few weeks, or you live on your yacht for years at a time, you’ll never forget the feeling of how special your time on the water will be. Life on a yacht makes for great photos, great conversations, and a sense of pride for the owner.

Life on a Yacht - living area

If you’re looking to downsize and declutter, life on a yacht may just be the excuse you were looking for to sell everything off, pack up the rest, and go.

Many Ways to Entertain

Wondering how you’ll spend time aboard your yacht? The possibilities are endless. Today’s luxury yachts offer modern kitchens, multiple bedrooms and living rooms, multiple sun decks, fitness gyms, modern kitchens, huge theatres, high-end sound systems, hot tubs, pools, and much more. You’ll feel like you’re on your own personal cruise ship.

Endless Ocean Views

As we mentioned earlier, ocean views aboard a yacht cannot be beaten. While you’re enjoying all the above, endless ocean views surround you while you’re living life on your yacht.

Ways to Make Life on a Yacht Even Better

  • Before buying a yacht, spend a few nights on one to make sure you can handle life at sea.
  • If you’re a light sleeper or are prone to getting motion sickness, a larger yacht will rock less during stormy weather.
  • Talk with other yacht owners to find out what works for them.
  • Research the resale value of your yacht if you plan on selling.
  • Bookmark our blog for more tips!

Questions about life on a yacht? Understanding the potentials of life on a motor yacht cannot be explained in one short article. The Comprehensive Guide to Moscow Nightlife

lux living yacht

Moscow’s nightlife scene is thriving, and arguably one of the best the world has to offer – top-notch Russian women, coupled with a never-ending list of venues, Moscow has a little bit of something for everyone’s taste. Moscow nightlife is not for the faint of heart – and if you’re coming, you better be ready to go Friday and Saturday night into the early morning.

This comprehensive guide to Moscow nightlife will run you through the nuts and bolts of all you need to know about Moscow’s nightclubs and give you a solid blueprint to operate with during your time in Moscow.

What you need to know before hitting Moscow nightclubs

Prices in moscow nightlife.

Before you head out and start gaming all the sexy Moscow girls , we have to talk money first. Bring plenty because in Moscow you can never bring a big enough bankroll. Remember, you’re the man so making a fuzz of not paying a drink here or there will not go down well.

Luckily most Moscow clubs don’t do cover fees. Some electro clubs will charge 15-20$, depending on their lineup. There’s the odd club with a minimum spend of 20-30$, which you’ll drop on drinks easily. By and large, you can scope out the venues for free, which is a big plus.

Bottle service is a great deal in Moscow. At top-tier clubs, it starts at 1,000$. That’ll go a long way with premium vodka at 250$, especially if you have three or four guys chipping in. Not to mention that it’s a massive status boost for getting girls, especially at high-end clubs.

Without bottle service, you should estimate a budget of 100-150$ per night. That is if you drink a lot and hit the top clubs with the hottest girls. Scale down for less alcohol and more basic places.

Dress code & Face control

Door policy in Moscow is called “face control” and it’s always the guy behind the two gorillas that gives the green light if you’re in or out.

In Moscow nightlife there’s only one rule when it comes to dress codes:

You can never be underdressed.

People dress A LOT sharper than, say, in the US and that goes for both sexes. For high-end clubs, you definitely want to roll with a sharp blazer and a pocket square, not to mention dress shoes in tip-top condition. Those are the minimum requirements to level the playing field vis a vis with other sharply dressed guys that have a lot more money than you do. Unless you plan to hit explicit electro or underground clubs, which have their own dress code, you are always on the money with that style.

Getting in a Moscow club isn’t as hard as it seems: dress sharp, speak English at the door and look like you’re in the mood to spend all that money that you supposedly have (even if you don’t). That will open almost any door in Moscow’s nightlife for you.

Types of Moscow Nightclubs

In Moscow there are four types of clubs with the accompanying female clientele:

High-end clubs:

These are often crossovers between restaurants and clubs with lots of tables and very little space to dance. Heavy accent on bottle service most of the time but you can work the room from the bar as well. The hottest and most expensive girls in Moscow go there. Bring deep pockets and lots of self-confidence and you have a shot at swooping them.

Regular Mid-level clubs:

They probably resemble more what you’re used to in a nightclub: big dancefloors, stages and more space to roam around. Bottle service will make you stand out more but you can also do well without. You can find all types of girls but most will be in the 6-8 range. Your targets should always be the girls drinking and ideally in pairs. It’s impossible not to swoop if your game is at least half-decent.

Basic clubs/dive bars:

Usually spots with very cheap booze and lax face control. If you’re dressed too sharp and speak no Russian, you might attract the wrong type of attention so be vigilant. If you know the local scene you can swoop 6s and 7s almost at will. Usually students and girls from the suburbs.

Electro/underground clubs:

Home of the hipsters and creatives. Parties there don’t mean meeting girls and getting drunk but doing pills and spacing out to the music. Lots of attractive hipster girls if that is your niche. That is its own scene with a different dress code as well.

lux living yacht

What time to go out in Moscow

Moscow nightlife starts late. Don’t show up at bars and preparty spots before 11pm because you’ll feel fairly alone. Peak time is between 1am and 3am. That is also the time of Moscow nightlife’s biggest nuisance: concerts by artists you won’t know and who only distract your girls from drinking and being gamed. From 4am to 6am the regular clubs are emptying out but plenty of people, women included, still hit up one of the many afterparty clubs. Those last till well past 10am.

As far as days go: Fridays and Saturdays are peak days. Thursday is an OK day, all other days are fairly weak and you have to know the right venues.

The Ultimate Moscow Nightclub List

Short disclaimer: I didn’t add basic and electro clubs since you’re coming for the girls, not for the music. This list will give you more options than you’ll be able to handle on a weekend.

Preparty – start here at 11PM

Classic restaurant club with lots of tables and a smallish bar and dancefloor. Come here between 11pm and 12am when the concert is over and they start with the actual party. Even early in the night tons of sexy women here, who lean slightly older (25 and up).

The second floor of the Ugolek restaurant is an extra bar with dim lights and house music tunes. Very small and cozy with a slight hipster vibe but generally draws plenty of attractive women too. A bit slower vibe than Valenok.

Very cool, spread-out venue that has a modern library theme. Not always full with people but when it is, it’s brimming with top-tier women. Slow vibe here and better for grabbing contacts and moving on.

lux living yacht

High-end: err on the side of being too early rather than too late because of face control.

Secret Room

Probably the top venue at the moment in Moscow . Very small but wildly popular club, which is crammed with tables but always packed. They do parties on Thursdays and Sundays as well. This club has a hip-hop/high-end theme, meaning most girls are gold diggers, IG models, and tattooed hip hop chicks. Very unfavorable logistics because there is almost no room no move inside the club but the party vibe makes it worth it. Strict face control.

Close to Secret Room and with a much more favorable and spacious three-part layout. This place attracts very hot women but also lots of ball busters and fakes that will leave you blue-balled. Come early because after 4am it starts getting empty fast. Electronic music.

A slightly kitsch restaurant club that plays Russian pop and is full of gold diggers, semi-pros, and men from the Caucasus republics. Thursday is the strongest night but that dynamic might be changing since Secret Room opened its doors. You can swoop here but it will be a struggle.

lux living yacht

Mid-level: your sweet spot in terms of ease and attractiveness of girls for an average budget.

Started going downwards in 2018 due to lax face control and this might get even worse with the World Cup. In terms of layout one of the best Moscow nightclubs because it’s very big and bottle service gives you a good edge here. Still attracts lots of cute girls with loose morals but plenty of provincial girls (and guys) as well. Swooping is fairly easy here.

I haven’t been at this place in over a year, ever since it started becoming ground zero for drunken teenagers. Similar clientele to Icon but less chic, younger and drunker. Decent mainstream music that attracts plenty of tourists. Girls are easy here as well.

Sort of a Coyote Ugly (the real one in Moscow sucks) with party music and lots of drunken people licking each others’ faces. Very entertaining with the right amount of alcohol and very easy to pull in there. Don’t think about staying sober in here, you’ll hate it.

Artel Bessonitsa/Shakti Terrace

Electronic music club that is sort of a high-end place with an underground clientele and located between the teenager clubs Icon and Gipsy. Very good music but a bit all over the place with their vibe and their branding. You can swoop almost any type of girl here from high-heeled beauty to coked-up hipsters, provided they’re not too sober.

lux living yacht

Afterparty: if by 5AM  you haven’t pulled, it’s time to move here.

Best afterparty spot in terms of trying to get girls. Pretty much no one is sober in there and savage gorilla game goes a long way. Lots of very hot and slutty-looking girls but it can be hard to tell apart who is looking for dick and who is just on drugs but not interested. If by 9-10am you haven’t pulled, it is probably better to surrender.

The hipster alternative for afterparties, where even more drugs are in play. Plenty of attractive girls there but you have to know how to work this type of club. A nicer atmosphere and better music but if you’re desperate to pull, you’ll probably go to Miks.

Weekday jokers: if you’re on the hunt for some sexy Russian girls during the week, here are two tips to make your life easier.

Chesterfield

Ladies night on Wednesdays means this place gets pretty packed with smashed teenagers and 6s and 7s. Don’t pull out the three-piece suit in here because it’s a “simpler” crowd. Definitely your best shot on Wednesdays.

If you haven’t pulled at Chesterfield, you can throw a Hail Mary and hit up Garage’s Black Music Wednesdays. Fills up really late but there are some cute Black Music groupies in here. Very small club. Thursday through Saturday they do afterparties and you have an excellent shot and swooping girls that are probably high.

Shishas Sferum

This is pretty much your only shot on Mondays and Tuesdays because they offer free or almost free drinks for women. A fairly low-class club where you should watch your drinks. As always the case in Moscow, there will be cute girls here on any day of the week but it’s nowhere near as good as on the weekend.

In a nutshell, that is all you need to know about where to meet Moscow girls in nightlife. There are tons of options, and it all depends on what best fits your style, based on the type of girls that you’re looking for.
