How To Order :

One package has it all.

Every Blokart comes in an awesome ready to sail compact package, allowing you to disassemble the boat into a very easy to haul rugged padded carrying case.   This makes Blokart the easiest land yacht to transport to your favorite riding spot.   Your Blokart sets up in less than 5 minutes without the need of any tools!   Carrying case is included and even converts from a carrying case to a handy rolling pack by using the wheels of the Blokart.   The pack is so small that it will fit into the trunk of most vehicles or in the back seat.   You no longer need a big truck or tow a trailer to go sailing!

The Pro model is 100% polished stainless steel, perfect for those humid / wet riding areas like sandy beaches.   Stainless steel is corrosion and rust resistant.   The polished stainless steel is also sleek and shiny.

Ride with your friend.

Every Blokart can be equipped with the optional "Shadow" ride along side seat.   This seat fits onto your existing Blokart in minutes and allows you to ride with your spouse, kids, or friends! The Shadow kit is a great option for families and groups and is also the perfect way to teach others how to sail. Shadow kits are a great optional accessory and come with their own carry bag, ready to install.

Mast Options:

The Fiberglass Mast is the standard and most common mast used.   It is made from laminated high strength Fiberglass.   Perfect for beginner sailors and for gusty conditions. The Combo Mast gives your Blokart added performance by stiffening up the sail.   This is done by replacing some of the fiberglass sections with light weight Carbon Fiber sections.   The combination of Fiberglass and Carbon Fiber allows for higher performance while providing smoother sailing in gusty conditions. The Carbon Mast is the ultimate performance upgrade.   This mast uses sections of Blokart's exclusive Ultra Carbon along with sections of their high strength light weight carbon fiber for the strongest and lightest mast available.   If speed is your goal, the Carbon Mast is a must have! Because of the multiple boxes and size of these items, Land Sailors are not eligle for our free shipping promotion. The shipping charges already included with your order are estimated shipping charges (pre-selected option above). We will calculate the exact shipping charges for your order and contact you once the order is ready to be shipped. If there is any difference in the estimated shipping amount, we will contact you and usually issue you a credit for the difference. In the unusual event that shipping charges are more than the estimated amount, we will contact you regarding the difference.

• Fiberglass : Strong, yet flexible, fiberglass mast sections make it easy to sail in light winds and are forgiving for better control in strong winds. This is why we recommend beginners start with a Fiberglass Combination Mast.
• Carbon : These mast sections feature 600 grams of stiff carbon wrapped around a flexible fiberglass core. Carbon sections make the mast stiffer. By adding carbon sections to the base of the mast where most of the bend occurs (especially the "butt" and the next "3rd"), you can increase performance in windy conditions.
• Ultra Carbon : Our Ultra carbon is composed of thicker carbon (900 grams), wrapped around a resilient fiberglass core. Using sections of this stiffest mast material can further increase performance, but may also be less forgiving in gusty conditions.

The Indian Army setting off with 35 trained soldiers on a Blokart  land yacht adventure across the Great Rann of Kutch, the largest salt water desert in the world located in north western India.

The Rann covering an area of 18,000 sq kms is an extensive mudflat, salty and creaked inundated during monsoons. Its landscape is parched, desolate and desert like averaging 15m above sea level.

The barren and vast expanse of Rann though provides the ideal terrain for land yachting. However, lack of landmarks, local resources and the sandy terrain devoid of any vegetation pose adequate challenges for adventure seekers.

The expedition was flagged off by Brig Subhash Yadav, Commander Konark Air Defence Brigade from Kuarbet, Kutch, and covered significant places in the sand desert of Kutch exploring various places like Dharmsala, Shaktibet while sailing all the way to Karimsahi and concluded on Mar 25 2014 covering a distance of approximately 112 kms.

Land Sailing Adventure

We are primarily located in Ocean Shores Washington. But our mobile capability allows us to meet the wind where it is.  This allows you to enjoy the sport in a very unique way.  You can be in control of your own sailing kart traveling at speeds by harnessing the wind. This will create an experience that you will not soon forget.

Our Guarantee to You

 There is never a guarantee when it comes to weather, so we cannot assure you that the wind will be blowing when you arrive.  We continuously monitor the winds and tides and keep our customers updated on those conditions.  

*For coastal land sailing the optimum time is 3 hours before to 3 hours after a low tide, and winds blowing at a sustained 12 mph or greater.

Sand & Sails has gone mobile.

Being mobile allows us to be at the location with the best wind and tide conditions on a given day.  We currently operate in the North Beach (see maps) area and Puget Sound areas, but plan to expand to the Long Beach area (see maps) and finally to the South Beach area (see maps).

We provide safety helmets to our rental customers, but you're encouraged to bring your own personal safety helmet used for biking, skating, climbing, skiing, etc.

Blokarts were designed to allow for people with certain physical challenges to participate and enjoy the sport of land sailing!  

Blokarts can be equipped to have a side seat attachment (called a Shadow) for 2 riders to land sail.

Blokarts are easily assembled, disassembled, transported and stored.  When packed into their two storage bags they can easily fit in the car trunk and as checked baggage on flights to your favorite land sailing location!

I've been wanting to do a little write up on this company as the land yachts that they create are things of beauty.  At least to me.  They look incredibly sleek, stable and fast.  Like this...

They've got a whole heap of different models from the basic, to the slightly weird to the sleek speed weapons.  But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Since Jean-Phillippe Krischer was 9 years old, he's been building land yachts.  That was 40 something years ago.  In 1984, together with Christine Touati, he founded Seagull Landyachts.  Both are European and World champions.  Based in Brittany with a small staff of around 7 dedicated people they manufacture some of the most beautiful land yachts money can buy.

Currently, there are 13 different models listed on their website.  Ranging from the Ludic..

What a beautiful sleek looking model the Glider is. I like the colour too. The fact that your almost laying down, rather that of the "abdominal crunch" position in the Blokart looks very appealing for comfort and most definitely speed. I wonder what they are like when you roll one. I will have a look see on their site. I must say though that I like the hand steering on the blokart, the reason I got into land sailing in the first place, however with the Seagull, your hands are freed up for more sail control in racing events. Thank you John.

Thanks Mezz.  I know with some of their yachts, you can adjust the seating position from sitting reasonably upright to laying right down.  This vid shows the mechanism in the MaxXL...

 I must say though that I like the hand steering on the blokart. From Mez

It is very good for disabled sailors and also intuitive. All the yachts I've built have foot steering and are much more precise at high speed. Both hands to control sheeting is a huge bonus. They don't point very high into wind though. I've only sailed a blokart twice and found I was overcontrolling the steering while working the rope. I did manage to get it to 98.7kmh. Got hit by a gust and 180ed  it at 94.2kmh backwards for 14 seconds. Not much skill involved just sheer terror. They are fantastic little machines for off the shelf racing.

The Seagulls are works of art. Beautiful!!!

Any one notice the fancy roller they use on their sewing machines to keep it all nice and flat in their video

and the roller is heated to activate the adhesive after it's sewn. Most of the load is taken with adhesive and the stitching locates it. Much stronger on monofilm and the designs are now ink jetted onto the panels before assembly. They are a bitch to unpick to alter after they are a few years old as they totally bond to each surface with the suns heat over time.

The whole assembly looks really well made, lots of attention to detail. Just can't help but think its not going to fit in the back of a ute.

You are right in some parts there norm, improvisation will no doubt save the day.

Honestly I will not be buying one, I seriously don't even get enough use out of the ( stab in the dark ... 3 buggies , 12 kites) 8-9000 dollars I have already spent on the hobby.

The 2024 Capricornia Blokart Bash will be at Mulambin Beach, Yeppoon Queensland from Friday 31st May to Monday 3rd June 2024.

Blokart sail comes in four different sizes 2m, 3m, 4m, and 5.5 meters, so you can swap sails according to the wind strength or sailor’s body weight. All sails are made from dacron sail cloth, with reinforced mylar for the clear leach panels, and tapered fiberglass battens.

If you want to start with a single sail for your kart, Blokart recommend the 4 meter sail. This is a great option for most wind speeds and body types. For more flexibility, they recommend having both the 5.5 and 3 meter sails in your arsenal. These two serve as an ideal companion set so you can alternate depending on the sailing conditions.

Blokart Sail Range:

An ideal sail for kids. Preferable for adults during strong wind conditions.

This sail includes battens, boom, sheet and pulley whip.

• Windrange: Adults: Bft 5-6+ / knots 17-27+ Kids: Bft. 2-5 / knots 4-21

• Windrange: Adults: (60-80kg): 15-25 knots Kids: (30-50kg): 10-15 knots

The most popular and versatile sail. The latest design includes additional strengthening and finger battens to stiffen the leach and extend the life of the sail. Add the strengthened downhaul eyelet and mast sleeve and this is one tough sail.

• Windrange: Adults: (60-80kg): 8-20 knots Kids: (30-50kg): 5-10 knots

The 5.5m sail allows for sailing in the lightest breeze. With this sail you are able to ride with winds as low as 2 Bft. The latest design includes additional strengthening and finger battens to stiffen the leach and extend the life of the sail. Add the strengthened downhaul eyelet and mast sleeve and this is one tough sail. The use of Ultra Carbon two lower mast sections is recommended.

• Windrange: Adults: (60-80kg): 5-12 knots Kids: (30-50kg): 3-8 knots
