The interior of the STELLA MARIS yacht was designed by Michela Reverberi and is spacious and luxurious.

She has accommodation for 14 guests in 7 cabins and cabins for 20 crew members. Two VIP staterooms are on the main deck, and four guest cabins are located on the lower deck.

With an excellent blend of outdoor and indoor living spaces, STELLA MARIS has bridge deck dining, a bar, a spacious sundeck, and a Jacuzzi on offer.

STELLA MARIS also has an advanced electronic butler that makes guest experiences aboard the yacht pleasant and high class.

The shell doors of the tender bay open and make a unique party spot with advanced air conditioning to combat high humidity.

The interior is mostly glass, but VSY contracted an acoustic expert to make the interior as soundproof as possible

The STELLA MARIS yacht was designed to be future-proofed: the helipad can be upgraded to hold a bigger helicopter, and a future owner can upgrade the gym to two VIP cabins.

The yacht also uses an intelligent and advanced Centric system that is used for monitoring and communication.

The naval architecture was by Laurent Giles Superyacht Architects, and the exterior was designed Espen Øino International .

The STELLA MARIS yacht was built by Italian shipyard Viareggio Superyachts, VSY, and she was delivered in 2013. The shipyard takes environmental responsibility very seriously.

STELLA MARIS reflects that with a green Anchoring System that prevents damage to the seafloor, an advanced biological sewage system, and double soot scrubbers on the exhaust.

The exterior features a dark steel hull and a white aluminum superstructure.

Yacht Watch: Investigating the Stella Maris, a Gigantic Vessel Parked By the Giardini

As you approach the Giardini via water taxi, there’s a big hulking boat the size of an apartment building bestriding the Grand Canal. Its name is Stella Maris, and it is a superyacht.

Now, yachts this size are not uncommon in Venice this time of year, but this is a particularly striking one, and it dwarfs the other superyachts that come after it in line. And what’s more, it’s her first time at the Biennale opening, having sold in September 2015, months after the May opening of “All the World’s Futures.”

Naturally, chatter centered around who owns the thing. Courtesy Superyacht Times—”the leading superyacht website, updated daily with the most relevant and interesting superyacht news and information”—we know that it is 236 feet long, and has staggered internal decks, which allows for a helideck, a sun deck, a deck for the exclusive use of guests, and a separate owner’s deck.

The owner hasn’t been revealed, but some signs point to billionaire Roman Abramovich, who has at least five yachts in his fleet, including Eclipse, the second longest in the world. Abramovich-owned boats have been here before—in 2011, his 337 footer upset local shop owners and Biennale-goers alike. (Well, it didn’t upset the Biennale-goers who got an invitation on board from Abramovich’s art collector wife, Dasha Zhukova.) Another clue: Stella Maris is flying the Union Jack, and Abramovich is based in London.

This afternoon, I walked up to the Stella Maris to find three young deck hands watching over her, cleaning her windows.

“Hey guys,” I yelled from about thirty feet below. “Who owns this thing?”

“Good question!” one of them yelled back.

Motor Yacht

Stella Maris is a spectacular 72-metre yacht, which represents a definitive step forward for VSY and is also conceived to be taken as a reference point for the market.

The project - entrusted to the expertise of the architect Espen Øino in cooperation with Laurent Giles Naval Architects – is blending traditional elements of design and layout with new variations on a theme - such as the staggered internal decks, the heights of the saloons and the innovative form of the bow. The resulting layout ensures a volume, more usually seen in yachts of greater dimensions, of 2,114 GRT. Also, it was possible to share the various functions on board among the decks thus rendering greater flexibility for any further different layout requirements, flexibility which constitutes one of the corner stones of VSY building philosophy, with the aim of satisfying the widest possible requirements of the owner. In particular, besides there being one deck exclusively for the guests, there is a separate Owner’s deck and saloons with finished heights of 270 cm and the pleasure of enjoying green landscapes at sea - and this must be an exclusive novelty - with real house-plants crossing the decks. Concepts of the internal and external spaces are interpreted in a very unconventional way. For example, in the main and upper saloons and the Owner’s cabin, there are spectacular walls entirely of glass, thus allowing the eye to see and enjoy beyond what would normally be a rigid barrier. A certified helideck and a sundeck conceived also for evening use with suitable atmospheric lighting, are featured by essential materials and colour tones reminiscent of a Mediterranean beach which is even more emphasized by the large beach area located near the water. The interior design by Studio Reverberi is based on simple lines but refined, embellished with natural stones, fabrics and veneers that spell freshness, lightness and luminosity where the external and internal ambiences merge. Stella Maris is yet another example of VSY’s ability to interpret the most exclusive ideas of an Owner creating leisure craft where living as sea is an unimaginable privilege and pleasure.

Performance & Range

Stella Maris is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Powered by twin Caterpillar engines, she comfortably cruises at 13 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 17 knots with a range of up to 5,500 nautical miles from her 175,000 litre fuel tanks at 12 knots. Stella Maris features at-anchor stabilizers providing exceptional comfort levels.

Stella Maris knows a thing or two about fun on the water, with an extensive selection of action packed water toys and accessories for you and your guests to enjoy whilst on charter. Principle among these is a Flyboard which is a must for any self-respecting thrill-seeker, prepare for supersize thrills - even beginners will enjoy the thrill of swooping skywards and ‘dolphining’ back into the water. Another excellent feature is a waterslide for guests of all ages to enjoy. Guests can feel the wind in their hair and jump the waves on one of the two WaveRunners. If that isn't enough Stella Maris also features waterskis, a seabob, wakeboards, kayaks, fishing equipment and much more. Stella Maris features three tenders, but leading the pack is a 8.25m/27'1" HTM Limo Tender to transport you in style.

Rising Sun superyacht is valued at $200 million and was purchased by Oracle CEO Larry Ellison in 2004, according to Robb Report .

Rising Sun was later purchased again by Geffen Records executive David Geffen in 2010, according to Club Yacht . Geffen also owns another yacht called Pelorus and his yachts have been frequented by celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, according to the outlet.

The "Dubai" megayacht, owned by United Arab Emirates Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is 532 feet long and is worth around $400 million, according to Architectural Digest .

Topaz, valued at $527 million

Topaz was built in Germany for the deputy prime minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, according to Dubai realtor LuxuryProperty.  

The nearly 500-foot yacht has a helicopter pad, gym, pool, and cinema hall, according to the realtor. Mansour owns Abu Dhabi United Group, which acquired Manchester United FC in 2008. 

Eclipse, valued at $600 million

The 533-foot Eclipse superyacht is valued at $600 million, according to the luxury magazine Robb Report .

The Eclipse is owned by Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich, one of 16 yachts and vessels that he owns, according to Forbes .

Azzam, valued at $600 million

Azzam is the largest and one of the fastest yachts in the world, according to Architectural Digest.

The boat took around three years to build and sits at 590 feet long and can travel at a speed of 35 miles per hour, according to the outlet.

Azzam is owned by the family of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who was the Second President of the United Arab Emirates before his death in May 2022.

Al Said, valued at $600 million

The 508-foot Al Said sits in the Lürssen shipyard in Germany and was purchased by the former Sultan of Oman, Sultan Qaboos bin Said in 2008 for $600 million, according to Robb Report.

The yacht can travel up to 25 miles per hour and has a concert hall that can accommodate a 50-person orchestra, according to the outlet.

Dilbar, valued at $735 million

Dilbar, owned by Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov, is the largest superyacht in the world and it's valued at $735 million.

In April 2022, the yacht was impounded in Germany . German federal police said they seized the yacht after an investigation into "offshore concealment" and determined that Usmanov's sister is the owner of the yacht. The boat remains at a shipyard in Hamburg, Germany.
