Introducing the 2006 Switch 55, Fantazia - an exceptional owner's version performance cruising catamaran, meticulously refitted over her lifetime and prepared for world voyaging!
Fantazia, has undergone extensive upgrades over the years, with no expenses spared. The dedicated owner has invested over $175,000 in upgrades more recently. Among the notable enhancements are complete paint job for the decks and hulls in 2017, upgraded composite standing rigging in 2017, new saildrives in 2022, upgraded Lithium House Battery Bank with A/C soft start in. 2020, and an array of other notable upgrades. For serious inquiries, we are more than happy to provide a comprehensive list detailing the entirety of the investment made in her restoration.
The Switch 55 represents a stretched and high-performance version of the renowned Switch 51. In addition to its impressive speed and enhanced comfort, the extended length grants additional interior volume, ideal for accommodating all your provisions and family essentials. This invaluable feature is a true advantage in bluewater cruising. Crafted by VPLP as a state-of-the-art performance cruiser, this dagger-boarded catamaran is constructed with a vinyl-ester foam core at the esteemed Sud Composites shipyard in southern France.
When it comes to performance, the Switch 55 surpasses its contemporaries such as the Catana 52 and Catana 58 of its era. Notably lighter and faster, she effortlessly cruises in the low to mid-teens without exertion and beats to windward with unmatched agility. In my opinion, the Swich 51 and 55 represent the pinnacle of balanced performance cruising multihulls in their time. With superior interior space and remarkable payload capacity, she outclasses performance brands in terms of space while boasting greater speed than cruising designs of its vintage.
It is well-known that producing performance catamarans of this caliber demands significant investment. Presently, the replacement value for a similar fully-equipped catamaran exceeds $2 million. However, what sets Fantazia apart is the meticulous attention and care bestowed upon her by her current owner. She stands as a near turnkey performance catamaran, tailored for the discerning buyer seeking far greater performance than what standard charter catamarans designs offer. Fantazia has already proven herself during a circumnavigation and is now fully prepared for her second voyage around the globe.
Despite her outstanding performance capabilities, comfort remains paramount aboard Fantazia. Lavishly finished interiors, spacious cabins, and a generous updated galley and salon with dual seating areas ensure a high level of onboard comfort. The owner's suite occupies an entire hull, providing dedicated luxury. Extensively equipped for extended cruising, Fantazia boasts twin gensets, soft-start air conditioning, a water maker, washing machine, satellite communications, and many other amenities essential for extended voyages.
Currently lying at Zimmerman Marine in Mathews, VA, Fantazia is safely housed in a professional shipyard that can handle any necessary preparations for her next grand adventure.
Don't miss the opportunity to acquire this exceptional vessel that seamlessly combines top-tier performance with unparalleled comfort. Contact us today to arrange a viewing and experience the allure of Fantazia for yourself.

Your team delivered on every mark. You’ve got an amazing broker in Mark Wattrus and I’m confident you will have continued success moving forward together. He was available 24/7 whenever I had questions. We had a great initial visit on the boat and his marketing plan and photos were superb
I bought a yacht that I had never seen. I did this because I trusted my broker Andrew Holland. It was not an easy job for Andrew, as I am an experienced boat builder and owner of previous yachts, but work in West Africa. Imagine how hard it was to communicate what I was looking for. Andrew came up with exactly what I wanted. He dealt with time delays, all my questions at odd hours, and was there for the survey. He reported honestly and professionally. After buying the yacht, I arrived at the boat on a Sunday night, after dark, after travelling from West Africa to the Caribbean, and found it was better than expected. He never pulled punches and made me aware of shortfalls. I expected to spend my one month leave working on the boat, but actually spent less than one week, and was able to spend 3 weeks sailing – wonderful bonus.
Thank you Andrew for putting up with all my questions, all my worries and all my crazy out of the time zone concerns – you were totally professional, but also I know that if and when we meet up, it will be like a friend finally meeting. You are always welcome on Aseka.
— Beverly Cory
Outstanding company with professional subject matter experts. If I were to buy or sell cruising sailboat, particularly a catamaran, Andrew would be my go to broker.
I have been sailing since I was a child and attended Massachusetts Maritime Academy. But when my wife and I began the process of purchasing an ocean cruising/racing catamaran, I realized that this is a world unto itself. Obviously, we needed to find someone knowledgeable to help us make an informed decision. More importantly, we needed someone honest and willing to put our interests before his or her own. I was lucky to work with Phil Berman at The Multihull Company. He repeatedly shunned the fast buck, choosing instead to work the long road to connect us with the “perfect boat”. I would be glad to recommend Phil and his company to anyone planning to purchase or sell a performance sailing machine.
— Eric Boutiette
Andrew Hodgdon was our broker when we bought our 2018 Lagoon 450F in Antigua in April 2922. He provided great service and was very attentive to our needs. We would highly recommend Andrew and the Multihull Company.

With superior interior space and remarkable payload capacity, she outclasses performance brands in terms of space while boasting greater speed than cruising designs of it’s vintage.

The new Switch 55 is built in the South of France by Sud Composites and is intended for comfortable bluewater sailing with a small crew. The hulls are molded using vinylester, PVC-sandwich composite for light weight and stiffness, while the interior furniture and bulkheads are made of balsa-sandwich panels with hardwood veneers. Reminiscent of the lines of the older Lagoon 47, she carries a cutter rig and a bowsprit arrangement for the asymmetrical spinnaker or gennaker. This practical sail plan provides the Switch 55 with the power to move well in light airs or under shortened sail in heavy going. The accommodation plan offers a large owner's suite and several roomy guest cabins. This is a boat for customers who want a well-rounded cruising boat, while maintaining their earthly comforts on the open seas.

Speed and prestige
With “parents” like Marc Van Peteghem and Vincent Lauriot-Prevost, the Switch 55 has an unbeatable pedigree. These designers are responsible for Géant, Gitana 11 and Groupama 2, three of the multi-hulls competing in the IB Group Challenge, as well Olivier de Kersauzon’s trimaran Géronimo.
Above deck : beauty and functionality
The cockpit of the Switch 55 is one of the most pleasant ever seen on a catamaran . It’s spacious and open design is a real success, helped by the discreet shapes, gentle lines and teak covering. On the model we tested, the Fantazia , the helm station is on the port side and slightly elevated, giving good visibility over the coachroof. The cockpit is sheltered by a canvas bimini , which can also be used as a comfortable sundeck. To starboard , a large teak table comfortably seats six guests. The electric windlass is located at the mast foot, along with the ends of the hull ’s two safety lines.
Below deck : from 3 to 6 cabins
The Switch 55 is available with 3 to 6 cabins. The Fantazia has 3 cabins, and a huge central saloon, all on one level. By choosing to avoid a salon with different levels, the owner has achieved a studio effect, with a galley /bar, dining area and reading area. The furniture is an elegant combination of ash, cherry and maple wood.
At sea: swift and supple
This gaff-rigged catamaran has a total sail area (mainsail, foresail and genoa ) of close to 200 m². The weather conditions during our test sail of Fantazia were particularly clement, and the genoa was soon furled and replaced by the gennaker. With 10 knots of wind, we were sailing at a decent speed of 6 knots. The sun was out and conditions ideal for testing the spinnaker, and the Switch soon speeded up to stabilise around 7.5 knots for 10 knots of wind. A few 15- knot gusts had Fantazia surfing the waves without deviating a single degree from her course. Despite some sudden drops in the wind, the catamaran had no difficulty picking up speed in a light breeze. Late in the day, a cross swell picked up but posed no problem to stability on board. The Switch 55 is designed to be manoeuvred by two people, but hoisting the spinnaker proved to be a tricky operation.
Like her smaller sister the Switch 51 , the Switch 55 is an exceptional unit for a mass produced yacht. With Sud Composites, designers Marc Van Peteghem and Vincent Lauriot-Prevost have created an elegant, comfortable, swift catamaran designed for long-haul sailing.

Jurg Hinz, the creator of the Swiss 55’ has already had a Switch 55’ custom built by Sud Composites, in 2005. After several years of cruising, reflection and market studies, the sale of the boat allowed him to launch his big project, the creation of a top-of-the-range 55-footer, derived from the Swiss school, and with the approach of a passionate owner.
From the Swiss mountains to the Anatolie plateau
Jurg is a rigorous and prudent manager: his knowledge in general and of multihull construction in particular let him glimpse immediately how he could achieve his desired result. He therefore surrounded himself with a limited design team, before going looking for the partner capable of adapting to a demanding and original specification.
With is resolutely modern and high-performance rig, the Swiss S2C is above all a boat designed for going far and fast.
A strong piloting trio for a production boat designed as a one-off
At the side of the boss who gave the project its direction and spirit, is Christophe Bulhozer. A sailor and seasoned traveller, builder and experienced project manager, this composites expert has developed and enriched his skills in Swiss, New Zealand and American boatyards. He confesses shyly to a more esoteric talent: that of artist/creator of unique furniture; using nothing but traditional Japanese tools for their construction and no portable electric tools! Sébastien Schmidt, the architect for the Swiss 55’, is not yet very well-known by lovers of cruising multihulls, but he carved out a solid reputat...

The cockpit of the Switch 55 is one of the most pleasant ever seen on a catamaran. It's spacious and open design is a real success, helped by the discreet shapes, gentle lines and teak covering. On the model we tested, the Fantazia, the helm station is on the port side and slightly elevated, giving good visibility over the coachroof.
