We went on both the 7am and 2 pm tours. The morning tour at 7 am was the most enjoyable of the two because we went faster and farther out to sea . We had dolphins swimming along side the boat We saw the whales coming up to breath and blow, It was much more energetic than the 2:00 cruise (although this became a fun cocktail cruise)

We had GoCity all-inclusive passes and chose to do the Makani Sunset Cruise as our premium activity, and it was a great choice! Unfortunately, with unpredictable tropical HI weather in December, we didn't witness a sunset given that it was completely cloudy and rained earlier in the day. But the overall experience was great and the staff was wonderful. They also had an open bar (free for those with the GoCity passes) with no limit on how many drinks you could order. Bartender made good drinks with proper shots. Our cruise was out on the water for only 1.5 hours and not the full 2 hours though, given how cold and windy it was. We did see a whale while we were out on the water though, which was nice.

Every single aspect of our "sunset cruise" was amazing. From the Captain to the girls running the rest of the cruise .. amazing. I could not have expected anything better than the excellent service and totality of this experience. Perfect for the family and a very relaxing time. We would 100% recommend this tour.

The crew are awesome! We loved it so much we sailed the afternoon and sunset cruises two days in a row. With the Go City Oahu pass, you can book once a day (evening sail requires upgrade or use of premium pass which is included with 3+ days). We've sailed alongside spinner dolphins on our previous rides, but this last visit spotted sea turtles. The sunset cruise was perfect for our last night in Honolulu. The open car was a bonus. We can't wait to sail again!

Had a great time. Captain Christy and crew were very nice and made us feel very comfortable on the boat. It is a great value and a must do while in Hawaii!

Our catamaran was overbooked. Not only that, there wasn't a lifeguard on duty. For a big party, there were only a crew of 3 serving us--the captain and 2 bartenders. The catamaran was clean and well maintained, but service could be better.

Came here as part of my Go City Oahu pick and it was worth it! I'd do this again, no hesitation. The crew was super friendly and amazing. One of them offered to take photos for us. The catamaran gets very wavy so hold onto the rails. Beautiful views, relaxing, and there is a bar as well. There are two bathrooms as well on the catamaran. Book it! Super fun.

Got a Groupon deal. Did the sunset evening cruise. Did not do the open bar option. Was disappointed we didn't stay out the full 2hrs we were back before 7pm. Crew was great. Views and boat was are very clean

Highly recommend this activity if you're in Oahu! We used our Go pass to book this activity and it was pretty easy to do on the phone. Staff is super nice and we got to see some whales.

The catamaran

We did the afternoon catamaran sailing along the Honolulu Coast past Diamond Head and Turtle Cove. It was a very relaxed sail that was not overcrowded. Josiah was great with his quick wit and willingness to help everyone, to include making sure everyone got photos of themselves while on board. It was nice to sit on the nets and relax in the sunshine. Not all catamarans allow you on the nets, so this was a pleasant way to sail.

Consider taking an over the counter motion sickness preventative at least 1 hour before your cruise if you are worried about sea sickness. Bracelets are available on-board for a fee.

Will I see the sunset on the Fireworks Cruise?

Depending on the season and the time of the sunset, you may not be able to see the sunset as the sun will have already gone done before the cruise departs.

What type of boat is used?

The Boat: A 65ft long and 32ft wide US Coast Guard Certified Sailing Catamaran that was built in St. Croix, Virgin Islands in August of 2005. Offering a capacity of 80 passengers, a covered cabin seating area, two large, freshwater restrooms, an impressive Bose surround sound system, LCD TV, sunbathing net areas, and even pilothouse seating, no expense has been spared in the making of Makani.

Is there parking available?

For guests who are driving to the check-in at Kewalo Basin Harbor, metered parking rates are $1 per hour. The parking lot is located at 1125 Ala Moana Blvd.
