Norman Foster Designed YachtPlus Sets Sail

Luxury yachts charter and ownership.

Nothing compares to owning a private yacht. But the cost of keeping up the ship's maintenance and crew can greatly outweigh the enjoyment owners get from the limited time they spend on the water. That's why YachtPlus, the London-based fractional ownership super-yacht company, has commissioned ten new Signature Series vessels, designed by the renowned architect Lord Norman Foster.

The first yacht in the new fleet of 135-foot luxury vessels is slated for delivery this December. Three of the Signature Series yachts are slated for delivery next year, with three more expected in 2010 and again in 2011.

These striking Signature Series crafts offer 5,737-square-feet of usable living space, with five suites that can sleep up to twelve guests, in addition to chambers for the seven-person crew.

Foster's design focuses largely on the quality of light and views, and offers thirty percent more indoor and outdoor space than other yachts in its class. A team of seven architects from Foster + Partners spent fifteen months perfecting the design. The high-tech Rodriquez Cantieri Navali yard in Sarzana, Italy, was commissioned to build the yachts.

YachtPlus' Luxury Management program offers owners a one-eighth stake in a super-yacht and a guaranteed thirty-four days of use each year, including eleven days in the Mediterranean, eleven in the Caribbean, and two cultural tours in either locale lasting six days each. Lifestyle Management can arrange for transportation, hotel accommodations and excursions for owners, ranging from golfing to vineyard visits.

Fractional owners pay an initial fee of 1,850,000 Euros, or about $2,479,646, and an estimated 200,000 Euros, or $268,069, annually to cover maintenance costs and other fees. Owners have access to any of the ten vessels planned for delivery over the next three years. Owners can opt out of the program at any time, and YachtPlus will re-market the ownership with proceeds, minus associated costs, going to the owner. Each yacht will be sold by the company after eight years to ensure that the fleet is kept up-to-date, and owners will receive full, pro-rated proceeds from the sale of the yacht at open market rate.

The ownership does not allow the yachts to be used as security, which protects owners from creditors in the event of another owner defaulting on a payment or the company declaring bankruptcy.

When signing up for the YachtPlus program, owners each place a down payment and are required to sign up for the program within a month. Once each of a yachts' eight co-owners do so, construction of the yacht begins. The yacht is delivered approximately eighteen months later.

YachtPlus, founded in London in 2005, has commissioned ten Signature Series yachts, and has left the door open to add other vessels, of which owners of any yacht in the fleet would have use.

Yachtplus launches its first foster + partners designed super-yacht.

The fractional ownership super-yacht company, YachtPlus , launched its first yacht – The Ocean Emerald – in La Spezia, Italy on April 25 in the presence of Norman Foster . This contemporary 41 metre yacht has been designed with a strong emphasis on space and light and has five suites for up to 12 guests, who will be looked after by a permanent, highly trained crew of seven. The internal planning of the yacht offers total flexibility to respond to the diverse requirements of the owners and their guests and keen attention has been paid to design and detail ranging from the internal (2,790sqft) and external (2,495sqft) areas to cutlery, crockery, fabrics and crew uniforms. All furnishings and fittings are provided by the Italian manufacturer Cassina and kitchen and galley equipment by Schiffini.

All arrangements from bookings to transport, private jet, helicopter transfers and onboard requests will be taken care of thereby further enhancing the ultimate experience in hospitality, service and luxury. Ocean Emerald will be the first of four identical Foster + Partners designed super-yachts to be launched by the company over the next two years. The second yacht, Ocean Pearl will enter service in the autumn 2009 and the third, Ocean Sapphire in the early part of 2010. The fourth yacht, as yet unnamed, is scheduled to launch in the latter part of 2010.

Superyacht Ocean Pearl Launches with Yacht Plus

Ocean Pearl, the second 41m superyacht designed by Lord Norman Foster, has launched today to join her sister yacht Ocean Emerald in the Yacht Plus Fractional Ownership scheme, making the superyacht industry much more accessible to new buyers.

With a strong emphasis on quality, space and light, the innovative and identically designed four–deck yachts will offer five suites for up to twelve guests at any one time that will have seven trained and experienced crew on board.

The 41m yacht has a dramatic grey superstructure that arches from the bow to the stern with a highly modern and luxurious feel in the expansive interior. The superstructure's interesting design is the brain child of celebrated architect Lord Norman Foster, who worked on Beijing Airport - deemed to be the largest single building on the planet - and other ground breaking designs including "the Gherkin".

Superyacht Ocean Pearl has joined its identical sister yacht, Ocean Emerald after hitting the water in the beautiful Carrara, Italy. Ocean Pearl is now ready to traverse the seas, offering the opportunity of thirty days a year over an eight year investment to cruise between the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.

Yacht Plus has coined the ownership scheme “the logical and financially astute way of owning high-end luxury products”, the scheme has given first time buyers the opportunity to receive a 1/8th share in each of the four identical yachts, at a buy-in fee of €1,850,000.

Yacht Plus has said “One of the many benefits of fractional ownership is that it allows owners to enjoy a luxurious and prestigious lifestyle at a fraction of the cost of sole ownership” with an added opportunity to sell the yacht on for 50% after the buy-in period expires.

Formed in 2005 by a group of highly successful financial investors and entrepreneurs, Yacht Plus has rapidly established itself as a front runner in the business of fractional ownership stating “for a fraction of the cost of purchasing your own yacht you will have an entire fleet at your disposal”.

Yacht Plus are using the new fractional ownership scheme as an interesting way in which to introduce new people into the industry, not only giving it added momentum but giving people the opportunity to cruise in an innovative and high quality superyacht.

Un navire, pour le marin, est un être à part entière qui dégage quelque chose, une essence qui peut se rapprocher d’une âme. Je dis souvent que Le Ponant s’exprime à partir de 10 nœuds lorsqu’il est sous voile « pure » et que la vague d’étrave souffle une mélodie que l’on peut entendre depuis le Pont Soleil. Je ne peux pas promettre le beau temps à chaque fois, ni assurer la mer d’huile car nous allons avoir besoin de vent pour pousser sur la voilure et découvrir chaque jour le spectacle de la nature. En revanche, je fais la promesse de la sécurité, de la recherche du confort et d’une expérience hors du temps à ceux qui viendront à bord !

Il y a quelque chose qui touche à la poésie quand on prend place à bord de ce fabuleux trois-mâts. Le scintillement de la mer, la brise qui effleure la peau, le clapotis des vagues, le murmure du vent dans les voiles, le parfum des figuiers à l’approche des côtes, les assiettes gourmandes qui font la part belle aux produits locaux et offrent un voyage dans le voyage… Tous les sens en éveil, voici venu le temps des vraies vacances. De celles qui marquent à jamais notre mémoire parce que l’on se sent bien, on découvre, on profite. Et l’on réussit l’incroyable exploit d’arrêter le temps.

Libre comme l’air

Entièrement repensé, l’emblématique trois-mâts de la compagnie ne propose désormais plus que 16 cabines. Une philosophie aussi simple qu’essentielle : la liberté de faire ou de ne pas faire.

Sur Le Ponant , comme à terre, chacun choisit son rythme. Certains décideront peut-être de bouquiner sur le Pont Soleil, de contempler l’horizon en sirotant un cocktail, de prendre un paddle ou un kayak à fond transparent. D’autres descendront à terre pour profiter de la douce lumière de fin de journée dans les ruelles d’un port piétonnier ou partiront en balade à vélo. D’autres encore, se poseront dans une petite crique isolée ou sur une plage déserte accessible uniquement par la mer.

Réparties sur trois ponts, les cabines et les suites du Ponant bénéficient de très beaux volumes. Les baies vitrées et les sabords apportent une douce luminosité à chacune. Décorées avec goût, elles offrent un écrin de luxe propice au calme et à la détente.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

Pleasantly surprised, service is good so is the food. Great selection of Fusion food, a mixture of Italian, Japanese, European, Asian etc. A pleasantly nice dining experience, highly recommended, a must try!

Had to wait for the food for 1.5 hours and then another 20 minutes for the check. Finally called for the manager and he offered... a 10% discount as a compensation. Simply pathetic! The food is mediocre at best. Not bad per se, but one... would expect something better considering the prices. There are many places to eat in area that are much better. Avoid this one at all costs. Food is very expensive,very pretentious, doesn't worth that money. Portions are very small. We ordered ravioli and there were 4! Four raviolis! For almost 15 euros. Then we asked to bring us dessert menu but nothing, they didn't even bothered, so we payed and left... without dessert. Very poor service for that price. More

Visited this lovely restaurant with a friend of mine. It was relaxingly warm August evening - so the place on the river seemed like a good idea. We came quite early and the restaurant was not full. The hostesses kindly offered several places to sit... and we chose to sit on the sofas. We had some wine, which was good. We struggled a bit when deciding about the food as few options (scallops) were not available. Fish on ice on display did not look very fresh. To be honest it was an unusually hot August and it is probably understandable that some see food options were not available. However, we did manage to order something and sat waiting and looking onto the river. My long-legged friend struggled sitting at the low sofa and the manager noticed that, offering as a very good, proper table beside the open window. It was nice touch and I was very pleased by their polite observations and immediate reaction to solve the problem. Food was quite good and presentation was perfect. Perhaps I can something about the food, but 1 visit is not enough to criticize or make a definitive opinion. Overall, quality place, which of course, does not come cheap. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation. More

I like my mountain plus bike.The only problem i have, the third speed jump when i put some pressure . Its not an adjustement, everything is fine. The problem is with the freewheel .I did 70 kilometer with the bike and it attenuate the problem a little.

Bike assembled easy and ride good.

We purchased the NCM Moscow 29 E bike from Leon Cycles earlier this month. Communication was via 'Whatsapp' which I initially thought a little odd but worked out well. Once communication established the transaction was completed quickly and easily. We were able to arrange for the team to assemble the bike for us and we picked it up from the warehouse without an issue. We love the bike and are continuing to find new places to discover using it. Competitive price and great service.

I ordered the bike 4 days ago and today it arrived. Now my first impressions: it is easy to assemble, looks great, is cleanly finished and after a first short driving test I have to say, the hammer. TB 10 Eco Plus bench drill

Bench drill in alternating current version.

The TB 10 Eco Plus is the entry-level model of the Plus series.

It is a sensitive precision drilling machine with a standard drilling capacity of 10 mm in steel E335. The working area is generously illuminated by the LED technology integrated as standard.

The machine can be switched on and off via the control panel with display. The speed can be continuously adjusted via the centrally located rotary wheel and the current speed can be read at any time via the integrated display.

With the drilling depth stop, the stroke of the drilling spindle can be adjusted with millimeter precision and thus limited.

The height is adjusted via a lifting mechanism or optionally sensitively via a threaded spindle.

We offer you the highest level of work safety as standard by means of a drilling protection with electrical fuse and emergency stop pushbutton.
