A regatta buoy is an inflatable device marking a turning point or other boundary of a sailboat race course.

Such buoys can be used for all sorts of competition as well as for training sessions.

Cylinders, cones, tetrahedrons and other shapes are used for regatta buoys. Most are yellow, orange or white. The color can indicate the starting or finish line, course layout alteration or other information stipulated by the race instructions. They are usually made of UV-resistant PVC, and are equipped with inflation and dump valves. Some have handles. Buoys can be customized with a logo. Certain models have transparent plastic pockets for a temporary logo. They are held fast by a mooring line attached directly to the underside of the buoy or to separate straps or a net, reducing the stress placed on the buoy and extending its useful life.

Buoys designed for long courses should be bigger than those for short ones for better visibility from afar. Colors are often codified by ISAF, the International Sailing Federation. Smaller, more compact models are recommended for training purposes.

What is your order turnaround?

The intricacy and size of the job requested will determine the length of time needed for approximate delivery. While times may vary, there are 3 levels of job categories that determine order turnaround time.

Level 1:  When ordering stock items, your order will take approximately 2 days to process before shipment

Level 2:  For a standard (typical) curtain, one to two-day order entry, requiring at least one more day for drawing approval and an additional two weeks for manufacturing.

Level 3:  When working with a complex project or a custom design the order entry process will take 2-3 days, followed by 1-2 weeks for drawing approval and up to 3-5 weeks for manufacturing to be completed before shipping

Delivery times vary on geography and are approximate and installation time will vary upon application.

Each inflatable buoy must pass our 24-hour inflation test before shipment. The inflatable race mark buoys carry a one-year warranty. race mark buoys are anchored with stainless steel 3-5 D-ring system on the bottom of the buoy. Racing Marks

The Racing Marks Kit is a set of 5 marks that can be placed in the water to set a course for racing your Tippecanoe RC Sailboats. The Marks are placed using the T24 RC Tugboat and Mark-Setting Barge , by throwing them, or by dropping them from a boat or dingy. A retrieval line is connected to each mark, and the end not connected to the Mark remains on shore so that the Marks can be pulled back to land after racing is completed. The Marks have brightly colored flags of different colors, so it is easy to call out a course to sailors. The anchor weights and nylon anchor line allow for hassle-free mark setting. These Marks are effective, easy to use, and a great addition to any model boat regatta.

The Racing Marks Kit can be purchased individually or in a package that includes the RC Tugboat, Barge, and Marks Kits. This package includes everything you need to set the Racing Marks. It is a great addition to any RC Sailboat fleet, and makes RC Boat racing easier, faster, and more fun!

SMark is the Smart Mark, a buoy you can easily “anchor” anywhere with no efforts just by pressing a button.

Our robotic buoys SMark can be used in regattas, swimming competitions and other water sports requiring a mark to signal the track.

SMark allows very fast changes of courses during the day and allows the best precision on the water . SMark has two electric motors and a precision GPS that keeps it in place within a meter. SMark communicates via GSM so it can be set from anywhere to the desired position. Bluetooth connection is also available. Its weight is less than 15 kg and it can be easily carried by one person and put on a RIB from the water, it is extremely easy to handle. The configuration is modular both for the energy as for the top visible part. 1 standard battery of 16Ah ensures autonomy during more than 12 hours with 20 kn of wind with the windsock top. 2 standard batteries (2x 16Ah) are sufficient to hold the position during 10 hours with 20 kn wind with the inflatable pyramid top. The inflatable part is 1.40m (height) x 120 cm (diameter) and it was tested up to 36 kn. Possibility of reducing the inflatable to 105 cm (height). In case of stronger wind the tips can be folded and the buoy can be reduces of 35 cm. 3 options are available as top visible part: windsock, inflatable pyramid or flashing light. A mix is also possible and very effective in changing weather conditions.

SUSTAINABILITY

We are delivering an eco-friendly solution for water sports events. Using SMark the carbon emission can be reduced by up to 21 times! (depends on the conditions, see our calculation example)

Example details

Considering an 8 hours operation with a 20 kn wind, SMark requires a total energy of 0.30 kWh which corresponds to a carbon footprint of 140 g 

That’s the same emission generated by a motorboat in….92m!!

During a typical regatta day an average of 2 marks resets are necessary. Considering an upwind course of 0.5 Nm race and taking into account the installation and removal of the buoy, a motorboat navigates a total of 4 Nm.

In this example, by using SMark the carbon emission can be reduced by 21 times!

Calculation assumptions :

Average carbon emission to generate electricity: 475g CO2/kWh ( https://www.iea.org/ ). 

Average consumption of a motor boat is 1 liter of gas per Nm.
