Following a sold-out summer in 2023 – and now entering its 18th year – Yacht Week is the original festival of the seas. It’s a special, shared experience for both single travelers and groups of friends. Unplug and relax, or party like there’s no tomorrow, with natural bay swims, hikes, seaside yoga, quad biking, dockside discos, ancient fort raves, regatta racing, and so much more. Yacht Week is recognized as the trip of a lifetime for a community of travelers, each setting out to explore paradise in their own premium yacht with a skipper and host. Each year Yacht Week adds a new route to its offering and for 2024, it brings back Sardinia and the crystal blue Emerald Coast. For two weeks in June, this route sees luxury meet wild terrain as the flotilla moors in beautiful archipelagos and enjoys wellness activities, renowned beach clubs such as ‘Rituals’, stylish parties in stunning locations such as La Maddelena Dock and the exquisite Cone Club, and a sumptuous mix of local cuisine in contemporary restaurants.

Also new for 2024, Yacht Week delivers two themed weeks on the Greece route. Applebum (Jun 8-14) will serve up a week of carefully curated hip hop, while Vibras (June 13-19) will bring the sultry sounds of Latin music to Yacht Week from reggaeton to Brazilian funk, and Latin pop to Latin house. These Yacht Week parties will be filled with the perfect soundtrack for sunkissed beaches and sizzling nights.

The Croatia route will see an intrepid crowd dive headfirst into a carefully curated week of incredible experiences with a flotilla of new friends from around the world. Every night there are parties in amazing locations from clubs to deserted islands, to parties at sea with DJs performing on the ‘Buzz Boat’ – a floating DJ booth alongside the world’s first floating dance floor. During the day is sailing, swimming, and snorkeling in crystal blue waters; exploring, hiking, and shopping; kicking back at the coolest beach clubs; enjoying the best food and drink on offer, and much more.

Music is always a central part of the Yacht Week experience and 2024 is no different. For fans of Afrobeats and dancehall, Yacht Week caters with its own in-house brand, Rhythm & Waves (June 22 – 28). While those with true party stamina can take on the Croatia Ultra Festival route (July 6-12) letting Yacht Week guests attend one of the world’s best house and techno festivals as VIPs. This week puts the ‘rave’ into travel and there is no better way to arrive than by yacht!

Yacht Week 2024 also collaborates with cutting-edge techno label, Drumcode for a third year. This hugely popular week (June 1-7) continues to redefine what a music festival can be as some of the world’s preeminent techno artists, including Drumcode founder Adam Beyer, join the flotilla in an intimate and unforgettable journey. Parties take place in captivating locations such as a lighthouse, a deserted island, a submarine shelter, a historic fortress, and more.

Greece Yacht Charters

Greece is a country in Southeast Europe, which is located in the Balkans. The country is embossed in four seas: the Aegean Sea, the Ionian Sea, the Cretan Sea, and the Mediterranean Sea . Due to its advantageous location, Greece possesses one of the longest coastlines in the world. This outstanding feature makes the country an incredibly famous sailing destination. Beautiful golden beaches along the island, emerald transparent waters, pine forests in the mountains, and extremely pleasant weather will not leave any sailor indifferent. Deciding to charter a shining yacht, you make an investment in unforgettable memories and the desire to come back as a matter of course.

The reasons for which one must visit Greece are difficult to count as it has a lot to offer for everyone. Rich history, glorious past, impressive ancient buildings, delicious food and wine, an abundance of celebrations and festivals are waiting for you to explore the picturesque region. The pristine nature of Athens, Volos, Corfu, Kavala, and other Greek cities and perfect weather conditions create an ideal opportunity to rent a boat and melt into the pleasure.

Sailing Conditions in Greece

Being situated in Southeast Europe, Greece welcomes sailors from around the globe to feel all the benefits of the Mediterranean climate. Hot and dry summers with rare precipitation and clear skies provide a good opportunity for yacht rental without any fear of possible rains and extreme winds. The average temperature during the summer period never drops below 20 ºC even at night. It is impossible to miss such great weather and not to go far in the sea on your sailboat to enjoy the 30 ºC heat in the daytime. Greek winters are usually colder, especially in those areas that are close to mountains. But they are not lingering and not so cold to somehow disturb dedicated sailors. The sailing season usually starts in March and continues up to November, bringing different sailing conditions to the island.

Best Times for Vacation in Greece

Having an intention to make the most of your sailboat vacation in the breathtaking destination, it is necessary to get acquainted with the weather conditions of the desired period. As a rule, the peak season of sailing occurs in the summer months and up to the end of September . This time features extremely high air and water temperature and a huge number of sailors even in the remote marinas. By the way, Greek summers are an ideal time for those who are ready to forget about sleep and party the whole night. One of the most important things to consider is that in July, the northern wind Meltemi comes to the shore and creates many hazardous obstacles for sailing.

Spring and autumn wind speeds and summer conditions force you to choose this time period if you are looking for peace and quiet. There is no extreme heat and strong winds, as well as no abundance of people. You still can enjoy going bareboat without any unpleasant conditions and immerse yourself into the same active and loud festivals and celebrations.

Sailing Difficulty Level

Greece has already gained its high popularity as one of the world’s best sailing destinations . Because of its climate and location, the country represents great sailing options for beginners and professional sailors alike. The weather changes require sailors to explore the weather forecast beforehand to select the desired time for coming and know what to expect. The level of difficulty is mostly predetermined by the Meltemi wind of 6-8 force. Blowing from July to September may scary fresh sailors and even become a challenge for experienced professionals. If you are not highly skillful and just do not have enough confidence to manage the vessel by yourself, consider booking a boat in spring or autumn. The absence of powerful winds will not spoil your first sailing experience but contribute to positive impressions.

If you are still not ready to face the open water, 12 Knots is glad to provide you with the help of a qualified skipper and an opportunity to hire a crew . Being focused on the needs and desires of every sailor, we offer either a skipper to help to refresh the memories of handling a boat or a complete training process in our sailing school. Both options are delivered at their best quality and reasonable price.

Main Charter Bases

Greece is an incredibly important sailing destination for 12 Knots. Welcoming thousands of happy sailors every year, the country has a lot of well-equipped marinas and good mooring options. Depending on the desired part of the country, preferred city, and climate peculiarities, you may select a perfect one. The team of 12 Knots spreads their professional services on more than 30 bases along the coast. You may rent a yacht or boat at bases situated in the most famous Greek cities and islands:

  • Santorini  and many others

Boat Types for Charters

Having a great number of bases in possession, 12 Knots aims to provide sailors with powerful sailboats from leading manufacturers. Approximately 6,000 vessels are now available for charter in Greece. Sailing yachts, catamarans, powerboats, gulets, and houseboats are waiting for your booking. Do not hesitate and contact our team to become an owner of a white shining boat at a good cost. It is advisable to perform booking beforehand to avoid disappointment and misunderstanding.

Other Information about Greece Sailing

Before diving into the images of future perfect sailing vacations, every sailor should be aware of some essential information about the intended place.

  • The official language is Greek, although English is also widely spoken, especially in tourist places.
  • Greece is the Euro zone; that’s why the official currency is Euro.
  • Greece is under the Schengen Agreement, which enables US citizens to enter the country without a visa and stay for no more than 90 days. For citizens of other countries, the consultation of the specialist is needed.

Essential info for chartering in greece, popular charter destinations.

The majority of our crewed charters in Greece depart from Athens to the Cyclades and the Saronic Gulf. Despite the Cyclades being the location we see most clients inquire about (because of the attractive islands of Mykonos and Santorini), a little research can go a long way for a private yacht charter in Greece. Firstly, the iconic islands are quite crowded in the peak months and despite the limitations made on cruise ships, visitor numbers haven’t significantly dropped in the key islands.

If you are in doubt about where to go, have a look at our Ultimate Greece Yacht Charter Itinerary Guide . Here you will find information about all the popular charter destinations in Greece, location videos, and a complete list of our recommended itineraries.

Santorini Mykonos Saronic Gulf Ionian Dodecanese

Island Distances & Boat Speed

The distances between the Greek islands are quite big – It is for example a whole 150 miles from Athens to Santorini . A crewed motor yacht charter from Athens to Cyclades cruising at 12 knots usually does day hops of 3-4 hours . The time increases for catamarans cruising at around 6 knots to at least 4-6 hours per day. For this reason, we advise, especially first-time charterers, to visit the Saronic Gulf – Hydra, Spetses, and Poros instead, reducing time spent at sea and increasing time spent exploring the islands. It is possible to cross from the Saronic Gulf to the Cyclades, which is usually done when Meltemi changes the plans of yachts from Athens.

The strong Meltemi winds make the journey from Athens to Santorini subject to the elements, and some flexibility needs to be expected as weather can significantly delay the journey. To avoid this, inquire about starting in Mykonos or Santorini and skip the long cruise from Athens. As the availability is dependent on the previous charter ending nearby or at your preferred location, it is advisable to hold the purchase of airline tickets until a boat is secured.

Book Well in Advance

With 3 months to charter, your best options are long gone. Ideally, we advise you to book 9-12 months before your intended charter . It is also important to consider to keep some level of flexibility. Coming into high season and wanting to charter in the most popular areas, charters can easily be booked back-to-back. One day back or forth can completely change the offer of available yachts as you might find that your preferred yacht is already booked 1 day before your selected return date. It is therefore also a good idea to have your Greece yacht charter booked before you purchase your flight ticket.

Booking a Greece Yacht Charter with us is easy. Just open the chat and get in contact with one of our experienced charter brokers. They will look at your wishes and budget and help you choose your yacht and destination.

Selecting Where to Charter in Greece

I want to see Santorini and Mykonos, my tickets are purchased for fixed dates three months from now in August and I need to start and finish in Athens, chartering a catamaran.

This is one of the most common inquiries, and one of the hardest to fulfill. Why?

  • Time to charter – with 3 months to charter, your best options are long gone. Ideally book 9-12 months before the charter
  • Flights vs Charter Location – with the distance between Athens and Santorini being 150 miles, the itinerary might not be possible due to weather, especially if we want to do Mykonos as well. Ideally, you’ll want to fly to Mykonos or Santorini or at least not plan fixed date island activities.
  • Fixed dates- One day up or down can completely change the offer of yachts available – you might need just that one that already has another charter booked for the day before you’re planning to return. It is a great idea to have your charter booked before you purchase your tickets.
  • Catamaran and long distances – as someone who does Athens – Santorini fairly regularly, it’s a great sail – for sport sailing. You’re on the open Aegean Sea and hiding behind islands is possible but further increases the distance – count 24 hours of sail one way and divide among the days of charter (24 hours x 2 ways / 7 days = 7 hours of sailing per day with a catamaran). Not a pleasurable experience.
  • Time of year – Santorini in August is equivalent to Times Square on New Year’s Eve. It can be a fantastic place if you have the correct expectations. There are 6,000 islands in Greece – plenty of alternatives for high end restaurants, history, Greek cuisine and peaceful or more popular places. Notice places like Milos and Lefkada are being increasingly crowded as well.
  • Despite all the above – inquire. We’re well connected with local providers in all areas and are able to provide non-public offers or creatively fulfill your requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Boots on the ground update: charter season 2024 and what's there to know about greek yacht charters.

The summer yacht charter season in Greece is developing in an unexpected manner, with an unprecedented number of higher-end yachts posting price reductions – an unthinkable development given the record-setting 2022 Summer Med Season.

The increased airplane fares are partly to blame, for the ongoing issues in the Greek infrastructure – not enough marinas to match the demand on other islands and continued over-tourism of key Cycladic charter locations. In addition, 2022 and 2023 have seen record increases in the numbers of new yachts – some 235 crewed boats were added to the yacht charter fleet, while most of the older yacht inventory got a refurbishment – in part also due to the EU funds promoting tourism.

The key events in the Greek yacht charter industry in 2024

  • The cost of a July airplane ticket went from $900 to $1,400, year over year.
  • US inflation of 4-9% year over year weakens the purchasing position of the major charter market
  • Continued negative coverage of key Greek areas, from overcrowding of Santorini to DK Oyster restaurant scams on Mykonos continues to dominate the headlines
  • Turkey – following the Ukrainian conflicts, Turkey offered a safe haven to many Russian-owned yachts that risked being confiscated in Greece. In addition to the competitive VAT in Turkey (1% in Turkey vs 12% in Greece – in constant threat to be increased to full standard 24% with possible retroactivity of signed charters executed in the future) – visit https://myturkishcharter.com for up-to-date and complete yacht offer of Turkish charter yachts. Greece has found itself in between the EU legislators and non-EU Turkish competition.
  • Santorini Marina – still in construction, unknown delays
  • Corinth Canal – successfully reopened on June 22 after repeated construction works on 22 and 23! after walls repeatedly collapsed due to landslides.
  • Slow Opening of New Marinas – Licencing issues – limited births restrict navigation of charter vessels
  • Inflation of the Charter Fleet following record-setting 2022 yacht returns and EU subsidies for tourism that were leveraged for the purchase of new vessels
  • Increase of Ultra High Net Worth Individuals casting a spotlight – just Mykonos has seen Elon Musk, George Clooney, Christian Bale Matt Damon, Chris & Liam Hemsworth.
  • New, Upcoming Locations offer an alternative to the – “by now dead romantic idea of Mykonos and Santorini.” Antiparos is a hot charter location frequented by Tom Hanks, Jeff Bezos, and Anderson Cooper. Anafi, Ikaria, Kythira, and Nisiros are coming up and the clients are more educated and receptive to the idea of chartering off the beaten and crowded paths.
  • A New Client Preference for Secluded Locations – A storm of documentaries have our clients requesting new experiences – we thank My Greek Odyssey and Peter Meneas on a journey of discovering his Kytherian descent and going much beyond and more with his yacht Mia Zoi or Costas Spiliadis – chef and owner of Estatorio Milos with the yacht Milos at Sea enable us to offer new immersive experiences creating not tourists, but travelers.
  • New Experiences – from having one or multiple jetskis onboard your yacht to chartering a Greek temple for your event, things are just easier to do in Greece. We’ve considerably expanded our concierge offering to accommodate requests ranging from beach horseback riding and spearfishing to luxury cars and entertainment events.

The Cyclades

Saronic Gulf & Eastern Peloponnese

The Saronic Gulf is one of Greece’s most picturesque seaside destinations, with stunning crystal-clear waters, sandy beaches, and a wealth of activities. The most famous island in this region is Hydra, which is known for its beautiful scenery and lack of cars (there are only 100 on the entire island!). There are also plenty of opportunities for water sports, visiting archaeological sites (ancient Corinth, Epidavros Theater), and of course, dining on fresh Mediterranean seafood.

Rhodes Island Dodecanese

If you’re looking for a less-crowded, more authentic Greek yacht charter experience, you’ve come to the right place. The Dodecanese islands are the perfect place to unwind on your next vacation.

The largest island, Rhodes, is known for its beaches and nightlife, while Karpathos is popular for its hiking trails. The other islands have their own unique charms as well, but no matter which one you choose to visit, you’re sure to have a great time!

Whether you want an adventure or a relaxing getaway with the family, you’ll find everything you need in this beautiful area of Greece!

Ionian Islands

Located on the western part of the Greek mainland, the Ionian complex of islands comprises well-known spots such as Corfu and Zante, as well as the lesser-known islands of Ithaki, Kefalonia, and Paxi.

The culture, cuisine, and language of the islands are influenced by both Greek and Italian culture. When it comes to sailing spots, you can expect crystal clear waters with beautiful aquamarine colors that contrast with the lush vegetation. If you enjoy water spots, snorkeling or scuba diving are both great options!

The Ionian islands are a great alternative to the Cyclades during the hot summer months since they are not affected by the Meltemi winds.

Yacht charter season in greece.

The main charter season in Greece is relatively long, spanning from April to September, with a peak in July and August. Notice the interesting months of March and October, which offer a nice combination of “water warm enough to swim” and out of season prices.

What does yacht charter mean?

Yacht charter and boat rental are synonyms of one another. Most yacht charters start on Saturday and are usually rented for 7 nights/8 days. Therefore, most of the prices on this website are weekly. It is possible to arrange a shorter or a longer charter or start on a different day. Another aspect of yacht charters in Greece is the currency. All the charter prices are shown in Euro (€) to adjust the exchange rate fluctuation.

All yacht charters from Greece have insurance for deposit forfeiture and sometimes for trip cancellation.

Top reasons to charter in Greece

  • during the main season, the daylight ends after 9 pm
  • the temperatures range from 85°F – 100°F
  • over 3000 islands, enough for more than 1 lifetime
  • 20% of Greece actually consists of islands.
  • Greek food and drinks are an awesome mix of fit and tasty
  • charter prices are of great value compared to the Caribbean or France

SailChecker Greece Flotilla 2024

Join us in summer 2024 for a Greek Flotilla, setting sail between the 2nd – 9th July, departing from Athens.

With prices starting from £2,500 per boat with 6 guests , you will not want to miss out on this one. Reserve your space with a 10% down payment , which is fully refundable until August 2021.

What is a Flotilla?

Derived from the Spanish ‘ flota’ which translates to the ‘fleet’ in English. A flotilla describes a group of yachts that sail together as a small fleet.

Flotillas can come in all shapes and sizes, ranging anywhere from 2 to 10 boats. Typically they are guided by a lead boat which will be crewed by the SailChecker team.

Although the flotilla will follow the same route as the lead boat, individual boats are free to take things at their own pace, only meeting up with the rest for the evenings and activities.

Benefits of Flotilla Sailing

Support. If you have chosen to sail the boat yourself you may feel more comfortable in the knowledge that there is a lead boat close-by offering help and support. The lead boat offers invaluable assistance in terms of knowledge of local waters as well as guidance throughout the week.

Social. The main attraction of the SailChecker Greece flotilla holidays is that it lends itself to a more social experience. Whilst you are free to explore on your own during the daytime, in the evenings there is the chance to get together with the rest of the flotilla, enjoy a group meal and of course a few drinks. As you will be spending every evening with the same group, it doesn’t take long for the group to gel.

Less Planning. Sailing as part of a flotilla means that it’s somebody else’s job to worry about scrutinising the charts and planning the route, on top of this, the lead boat will know exactly where the best places to go are and where to stop off. Yachts that are part of a flotilla also do not have to worry about where to moor up for the evening, the lead crew will arrange everything and even help you in.

Sailing in Greek Waters

Made up of over 6,000 small islands and 1,431 beaches, Greece offers some of the best scenery in the world, which is best explored by sea.

It’s not just the landscapes that will sweep you off your feet, it’s the fantastic parties, and epic sundowners put on by the locals.

Greece offers three main sailing areas: the Cyclades , the Ionian Islands and the Argo- Saronic Islands. This flotilla will be sailing the latter, exploring the gulf between the Attica and Argolis areas of Greece whilst being guided by the steady-blowing Meltemi winds .

Why You Should Choose SailChecker

Experience. We have over a decade of experience in the yacht charter industry, allowing us to make the right decisions for you.

Customer Service. We combine the advantages of scale and influence with an individualised model that focuses on the highest service standards.

Technology. Our consultants are equipped with proprietary tools that employ machine learning algorithms, giving us real-time price data trends and market analysis and therefore an unfair advantage over our rivals

Your Sailing Area

Saronic islands, greece.

With easy access from the mainland airport of Athens, Zorba will set the sails and head straight for the Saronic Islands as you spend the next week under sail, discovering all that the islands have to offer. Your route will entirely depend on the wind and weather and also the feeling of all the guests onboard.

As well as a plethora of uninhabited islands that make for great remote escapes off the beaten track and away from the tourist hustle and bustle; the islands also consist of the inhabited main islands of Aegina, Agistri and Poros. The islands of Hydra and Dokos are also sometimes included in this archipelago.

From afternoon anchorages on remote islands perfectly lined with crystal coves for swimming and snorkelling to the very best, tried and tested tavernas on the main islands, there won’t be time to see it all and you’ll be longing to return before you’ve even stepped foot off the boat.

Greek Island Highlights

Each island certainly has its own personality and although all of them showcase the very best of Greek hospitality, they cater for all ages and interests. The UNESCO heritage site of the ancient theatre in Epidavros is a bucket list visit for many and one that we highly recommend. Whilst on this coast, the sunken city of Epidavros is also worth a snorkel. Onto the island of Aegina and the architectural wonders of the ancient city of Temple of Aphaia impressively built on the hill – also known as Pistachio Island. The Saronic showpiece has to be Hydra with its ancient port carefully lined with well-preserved stone houses rising from a chic, history-charged harbour. Known as t he jewel of the Saronic’s Hydra has no car traffic so donkeys are the best way to get around!

The Temple of Poseidon sits on the southerly point of mainland Greece and is definitely worth the sail over as it sits towering over the anchorage with the impressive view. The small fishing village of Perdika is where you can find the nicest people in the world and our secret harbour (with one family-run taverna and no shop) that can fit only 7 boats!

They tailor every trip to suit their guests needs so if you simply want to sit back, enjoy the Mediterranean sunshine and enjoy the cuisine of the local tavernas – that’s fine too!

A sailing holiday on Zorba is certainly one that will leave you with long-lasting memories. Read more about what to expect from Life on Board Zorba here.

Zorba Deck plan

Sailing with Zorba in Greece will leave long-lasting memories and more than likely see you longing to return. A modern Beneteau Cyclades 50.5, Zorba is owned and managed by Aga and Greg, who share a real passion for Greece both from the water and on the land. Comfortable, relaxed, and offering an abundance of sunshine sailing, Zorba is the perfect yacht to show guests a truly authentic sailing holiday in Greece.

A typical Day

After a relaxed breakfast, spend a few hours sailing before anchoring up in crystal clear waters to explore historical ruins ashore, sunbathe or snorkel away the afternoon. Hoist the sails again to find a new spot for the night before enjoying dinner ashore in a traditional Greek Taverna, specially hand-picked by Aga and Greg.

Getting involved

Your sailing holiday in Greece is truly as you make it. Zorba is a fun and simple boat to sail and can be sailed by Greg alone if guests prefer a more relaxing experience. That being said, the larger Saronic Gulf gives some great winds for sailing for those wanting to learn the ropes in a safe and supported environment. Greg used to be a sailing instructor so he loves to share his knowledge and skill with guests. From knot tying to basic navigation, taking the helm and reading the local charts, guests are welcome to get involved as much or as little as they’d like.

Read more about what to expect from a typical day on the water with Zorba and what to expect from life onboard.

Zorba transom guests swimming

The price also reflects the half board nature of this holiday as explained in Zorba’s life on board section . Breakfast and lunch are included but you will dine out in traditional tavernas for your evening meals. This is at the cost of the guest, but you’ll find a delicious local spread for as little as 15€ per person – and that even includes the wine! There is also a board cash of €250pp payable upon arrival that covers fuel, marina fees and water per person. This is reflected in the ticket price advertised and is based purely on the economics of Greece still being such a cash based society.

From solo travellers to couples to groups of families or friends, there is something for everyone on this sailing adventure. Take Zorba for a whole yacht charter in Greece with your friends and family, or join as a couple looking to make new memories and friends from all over the world. Swim, snorkel and make use of the boat SUP, which are all included in your ticket price!

Greece Zorba Swimming

Zorba has limited space for possessions, so please be considerate and travel as light as possible. There is no storage for rigid cases, so please bring your items in a soft bag or rucksack.

We recommend a travelling light principal with lots of lightweight, easy-drying layers. Below is a list of recommended items, these are not mandatory and those that have sailed before may have their own preferences!

  • Light shoes/trainers (with good grip)
  • Flip flips, sandals OR Crocs
  • Swimsuits and a swim towel
  • Wash towel – micro fibres are great for lightweight and quick-drying
  • Lightweight, quick-dry clothes

It can be quite a few degrees colder out at sea so please bring layers even if the forecast seems like a warm week!

  • Warm, windproof and waterproof coat
  • Sun cream (please use reef safe, eco products where possible)
  • Sunglasses and a sun hat/cap
  • Small personal first aid kit and any medication you may need
  • Camera/binoculars
  • Personal wash kit (please use reef safe, eco products where possible)
  • Swim shoes to ensure you dodge those pesky Greek sea urchins…!
  • Cash – EUROS. Greece is still a heavily cash-based society
  • Charging cables for personal devices and EU 2pin adaptor for use in cabins (there are 12v USB sockets to charge devices during the day by the chart table if needed)
  • A good book to read!
  • Consider a small backpack/bag for onshore exploring

SAMPLE MENU FOR Zorba

Please note that this is an example of what you may be served. Aga will be your host and main chef although guests tend to get involved with all aspects of life on board Zorba. Aga will go shopping on the first day and welcomes guests to join her so everyone’s preferences can be considered.

  • Selection of tea, freshly ground coffee and fruit juices
  • Fruits with nuts, oats, coconut with fresh Greek yoghurt, honey and eggs.
  • Typical Greek salad with fresh feta; tzatziki with bread; local goat cheese and figs

Evening meals are more often than not from a very considered list of favourite Greek tavernas. Local cuisine, fresh fish and seafood can be purchased at a relatively low local cost..

What’s included

  • Half board (breakfast, lunch and snacks)
  • All bedding (pillow, sheets & duvet)
  • Full crew plus tuition
  • All tender trips to and fro the boat
  • Fishing lines

What’s not included

  • Evening meals
  • Waterproofs
  • €250 cash per person on arrival for fuel, water and marina fees
  • Any flights
  • Transit hotels
  • Travel to and from the boat on the day of joining/leaving
  • Travel Insurance
  • Sailing Insurance (Please read our Sailing Insurance page for more information)
  • Personal expenses

Travel insurance notes

As this is an active adventure holiday, we advise that everyone has the appropriate personal accident travel insurance whilst onboard in addition to standard travel insurance which would cover you in the time between making your booking and departing for your adventure. These policies can sometimes be combined so please check with your travel insurance provider.

Please read more information on our Insurance guidelines page.

This voyage will be not more than 12 miles offshore.

Breakfast, lunch, snacks and hot drinks are included. Dinner is not included so guests can experience the delicious local cuisine and eat in traditional Taverna's!

Yes - please specify at time of enquiry.

Each voyage requires taking board cash for fuel, water and marina fees. Please see each voyage/ticket for details. Evening meals are not included.

4x double cabins, 1x twin bunk cabin.

Yes, all cabins have deck hatches and portholes.

All bedding is included but please bring towels (wash and/swim). Micro-fibres are a great lightweight, quick-drying alternative.

No, please do not bring one. The sea breeze makes a great natural alternative!

No, Zorba does not have laundry on board.

No, but each cabin has electric fans and opening hatches.

Tips are not mandatory but are welcomed by the crew!

Aga and Greg are Polish but fluent in English - English is the common language aboard.

No! It's time to disconnect from the modern conforms and reconnect with nature! When within shore range, you should be able to reach 4/5G. Please make sure you have international roaming set up on your data plan.

Yes, all cabins have 220v EU sockets and USB ports.

Zorba is sometimes at anchor so you'll need to be comfortable climbing in and out of the tender dinghy. She has a dropped transom with steps and swim ladder so getting on/off the boat is fairly easy. When she's docked, there's a simple gangplank.

No, absolutely not! Just a lust for adventure.

There are fishing lines and some snorkel gear.

Everyone reacts differently but we recommend if you are at all worried to take some medication 24 hours before departure.

Please check with the office for under 5's for normal voyages. There is no limit for private charters but we recommend that children can swim. There is no maximum age limit as long as guests are fit and mobile.

Travel Planning

From: Aegina

To see where the ports are, along with your likely sailing area, please view the sail area & highlights.

GETTING THERE

Aegina, greece.

Flights go direct to Athens International airport from London Standsted with Ryanair, and London Gatwick with Wizz Air, British Airways and easyJet.

You’ll then need to take a taxi from the airport to Piraeus port and take a ferry to Aegina port, which takes about 40 minutes to 1 hour. There are many different ferry options that run throughout the day, so please use the Ferry Scanner t o find timetables. You can pre-book tickets, or it is easy to buy a passenger ferry ticket at the port on the day.

Zorba’s crew can assist you in arranging an airport/hotel transfer to take you to the port and will arrange for a taxi at Aegina Port to pick you up and take you to Perdika, where the boat will be moored. This is a lovely island with lots of places to swim and relax before you board the boat.

STAY IN ATHENS

Try Athens Starlight Hotel, Attalos Hotel or Emporikon Athens Hotel .
