The Fleming 55 is a well-proven raised pilothouse motoryacht designed for serious cruising. Her semi-displacement hull gives her great flexibility in performance. The Fleming 55 has a range of 2,000 nautical miles at 8 knots yet, with her standard Twin Cummins QSC 500 hp common rail engines, she can attain a top speed of approximately 18 knots. Maximum sustained cruising speed is around 17 knots where her moderate deadrise provides a very comfortable ride. On longer passages, Fleming owners typically cruise at a very economical speed of 10 knots, where the typical fuel burn is slightly more than 10 gph.

The Fleming's deep keel provides protection for the running gear and stability in following seas. Because noise and vibration contribute to fatigue, Fleming has paid special attention to producing a yacht which has become the standard in the industry for its whisper quiet, ultra smooth ride. Fundamental to this achievement is the use of Aquadrive anti-vibration drive systems.

The Fleming 55 was first introduced in 1986, and since that time it has benefited from a rigorous program of evolution. There have been literally hundreds of improvements made, both big and small. While its legendary hull design remains essentially the same, today's Fleming 55 is a thoroughly modern yacht utilizing advanced technology, materials and construction methods. In 2019 construction of hull number 250 is well underway, making it one of the most successful production yachts in history.

Overview Continued...

Foredeck and Forepeak

Special attention has been paid to the ability to set and retrieve heavy ground tackle on the Fleming 55. The fiberglass anchor platform is equipped with twin Maxwell RC12 vertical windlasses with capstans for both rope and 3/8" (10mm) Grade-60 stainless steel chain. The windlass has a plug-in remote control as well as controls in the pilothouse and on the flybridge. Double sets of grooved rollers make it possible to self-launch and stow two 77 lb (35 Kg) Ultra anchors. Hose bibs for salt and fresh water are located next to the anchor platform, and there are deck lockers to port and stbd.

A lock-down hatch on the foredeck provides convenient access to the forepeak, which is separated from the rest of the yacht by a collision bulkhead. It has an area for storage of chain and a separate ventilated rope locker. Each features a bitter end fitting. The forepeak drains directly overboard and can be hosed down without concerns that water will contaminate the bilges.

The flared bow turns aside green water and provides a forward deck of unusually generous proportions. The oval stainless steel handrail has been brought inboard of the sloping bulwarks for convenience and security. To prevent streaking of the hull, the deck scuppers are piped down to the boot stripe, rather than being allowed to drain directly overboard.

Further protection against heavy weather is provided by the design of the Portuguese bridge. There is comfortable seating on its forward side, which is also the location for the forward shorepower inlet. There is ample storage for fenders and lines inside ventilated lockers accessed from the aft side of the Portuguese Bridge, and double doors close off the forward deck areas from the side and bridge decks creating a safe area for small children. There are sturdy, stainless steel handrails around the forward face of the pilothouse and down both side decks.

Easy stairs with handrails designed for both adults and children lead down to the wide and well-protected side-decks, which run down both sides of the boat. Here you will find cleats and chocks for forward and aft spring lines. The inward-opening bulwark doors make for easy and safe boarding.

Aft Deck and Swim Platform

With an area of approximately 250 sq ft. the Fleming 55 aft deck is unusually large. Being all at one level, it becomes an extension of the salon and provides ample space for chairs, donning scuba gear, or fishing. The fiberglass skirt around the edge of the wide teak cap rail conceals mood lighting and hides the engine-room air intakes which are well-protected from salt-laden spray.

Shower fittings for hot and cold water, located next to the inward-opening transom door, are conveniently placed for use while standing on the swim platform. Stainless steel handrails on the transom and a swim ladder, which can be deployed by a person in the water, provide safety and convenience.

Access to the upper boat deck is via a stainless steel ladder and a sliding hatch in the overhead. Access into the lazarette is through lockable hatches, with safe and stylish curved corners. Available as options are a console for cockpit engine controls and a locker, which can be equipped with a basin and faucet, insulated chest or icemaker.

Flying Bridge

The Fleming 55 low-profile flying bridge is spacious and packed with practical amenities. Its double helmseat, with folding stainless steel footrest, folds forward to access storage beneath it. The control console has full engine instrumentation and ample room for electronics. Access to and from the pilothouse is by a protected internal companionway directly from the pilothouse, avoiding the need to navigate perilous steps or ladders where a slip could result in a fall over the side. A wrap-around venturi windshield with stainless steel handrail provides protection from wind and weather.

There is seating for eight guests close to, but out of the way of, the helm station. A fiberglass table is standard and an ingenious pass-thru "dumbwaiter" eliminates the need to carry refreshments up from the galley. Aft of the seating area is the separate boat deck for the tender and a fully hydraulic davit, with remote control. From here, a ladder provides direct access to the lower aft deck.

A popular option is the aft facing boat deck control station that provides the captain with excellent visibility aft. Complete with bow thruster, and engine controls, backing into a tight slip is easier than ever.

The radar arch provides ample room for the full range of antennae required by modern electronic equipment, and an optional fibreglass hardtop is a popular choice.

Main Salon and Galley

The salon in the Fleming 55 features a comfortable L-settee with cushions upholstered over wood frames instead of the usual foam cushions on plywood. The sole is hand-laid teak and holly strips, and all built-in furniture is of superior quality joinerwork with rounded corners. There is a hi-lo table of unique design making it suitable for dining and as a coffee table. To starboard is a cabinet with powered TV lift and space for entertainment system components. To port is a bar with icemaker. The salon opens directly onto the aft deck through double sliding doors.

The galley is conveniently located on the same level as the salon and is properly designed to be used while underway. Either Corian or granite counter tops can be ordered. There are ample storage lockers and drawers, and appliances include a 21 cu. ft. side-by-side fridge/freezer with teak-panel doors and chilled water & ice dispenser; Miele induction cooktop with practical custom stainless steel pot-holders; convection microwave; and an undermount double stainless steel sink with waste disposer. Space has been provided for an optional dishwasher. A 20-gallon water heater is conveniently located close to the sinks for instant hot water. A pass-through dumbwaiter makes it safe and easy to serve food and drinks to guests on the flying bridge.

Fleming's signature low-profile design is evident even in the interior, as just a few steps lead up to pilothouse and down to the accommodations.

Accommodations

The perfect close to a day of cruising is to retire to a comfortable cabin. The Fleming 55 offers easy access to all the accommodations via a central passageway. A separate washer and drier are conveniently located behind a sliding door in this passage.

The master cabin is forward for maximum light and ventilation. It features a tapered queen berth with headboard. The bed lifts at the press of a button to access storage for bulky items. The bed also slides aft to make it easier to make the bed. There are two hanging lockers with shelves, teak louvered doors and space for a TV.

The master cabin has an en suite head with Corian, marble or granite countertops and a molded fiberglass shower stall. Hans-Grohe faucets are used throughout and feature a thermostatically controlled shower.

The port guest cabin is offered with either two single or one double bed with headboards. An additional slide-out upper berth with either layout is optional. The aft bulkhead has generous bookshelves. The starboard guest cabin has one lower and one upper, slide-out, upper berth. This cabin can also be offered as an optional office with desk, lockers, bookshelves and space for a computer & printer.

The guest head features a one-piece fiberglass molding and shower stall with bi-fold stainless steel doors. The attractive ceramic basin is set in a Corian, marble or granite countertop. Faucets are Hans-Grohe with a thermostatically controlled shower.

Throughout the yacht all lighting is LED type with polished stainless steel fittings. Teak and holly soles are standard in all interior areas.

Engine Room

The Fleming 55 engine room is meticulously well thought out and provides easy accessibility to every piece of equipment.

A signature feature of the Fleming 55 is its quietness and freedom from vibration. Much of the credit for this lies with the Aquadrive system, which isolates the engine and transmission from the propeller thrust, permitting the use of much softer engine mounts. Aquadrive is fitted as standard on every Fleming 55 and their rotating couplings are concealed beneath fiberglass covers for safety.

Another reason for the quietness of the Fleming is the careful attention paid to sound insulation. Lead/foam insulation is used extensively throughout and all hatches are dogged down on rubber gaskets. There are even double hatches separated by an air space over each engine.

Fuel tanks are made of fiberglass with integrally molded sumps to allow maximum useage of fuel. Vinylester resin is used in their construction on the interior and fire-retardant resin in the outer layers. The fuel system has been designed to make the transfer of fuel foolproof. It is impossible to inadvertently overfill one tank by incorrectly switching a fuel return valve.

Access to the engine room is via two hatches in the salon sole and from the lazarette through a uniquely shaped oval door designed for easy access. Engine room intake air enters from the lazarette to ensure it is free of salt before reaching the engines and generators.

For safety and convenience each Cummins QSC 500HP engine has a start and a stop button located in the engine room, and a PTO (power take-off) on the gearbox provides hydraulic power for the stabilizers which are standard equipment on all Flemings.

Inside the large lazarette are four polyethylene water tanks totaling 300 gallons (1,135 liters), battery master switches, and a 3,500 watt inverter. Four air conditioning compressors provide heating and cooling for the entire yacht. Against the transom is the steering system with its connection point for the autopilot. The tops for the rudder stocks terminate above the waterline. Despite all this equipment there remains 95 cu. ft. of storage for fenders and other cruising gear. Access to the engine room is through the oval-shaped door.

In many modern designs it has become fashionable to eliminate the inside steering station, but the Fleming 55 features a pilothouse which closely resembles the bridge of a much larger vessel. We created a dedicated place from which the boat is piloted and controlled without any distractions from other on-board activities but which is still only three steps from the salon and galley. Four interior steps safely lead to the upper flying bridge station.

Specially designed removable consoles provide ample room for a full range of modern electronic equipment without intruding on the engine instrumentation. Overhead consoles provide additional space. There is also a proper chart area with drawers and a chart light. Electrical panels swing out to provide easy access to wiring connections and the inside of the flying bridge console is accessed through a swing-out bookcase. The watch-keeper has their own Stidd helm seat and an adjacent, raised L-shaped settee and table provide a comfortable social area with excellent visibility through the side and forward windows.

This is truly the nerve center of the boat where all the systems and crew come together in complete harmony.

MANAGEMENT & ENVIRONMENT

Fleming Yachts Construction (HK) Ltd management and environmental systems have met and been approved by ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems and ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Standards.

The question most manufacturers ask themselves when considering a new feature is whether it is necessary to include it in order to sell the boat. In the case of the Fleming, we ask only whether its inclusion will make the boat safer, better or more convenient. That is why we have introduced literally hundreds of refinements since we started construction in 1985 and why we continue the process today.

For that reason, Fleming Yachts reserves the right to make changes to specifications and equipment without notice.

Designed for Serious Cruising

With elegant exterior lines that give it a timeless appeal paired with exceptional functionality, the Fleming 55 quickly established itself as one of the finest cruising yachts in its class when it was launched in 1986. The features on the Fleming 55, the first model introduced by Tony Fleming, have become staples in the Fleming lineup; a dedicated pilothouse, low profile design, fine forward entry, and semi-displacement hull and twin engine power which allow for efficient cruising at displacement speeds or the ability to plane and run in the high teens when needed.

It is the low profile of the Fleming 55 which gives it such an attractive overall appearance as well as a low center gravity which provides unparalleled stability in even the roughest seas. With a spacious cockpit, and wide walk-around side decks sitting just a foot and a half above the waterline, the Fleming 55 provides easy boarding and docking in nearly any scenario.

The 55’s interior features a centerline hallway, a hallmark of the Fleming design, which provides the opportunity to properly appreciate the full length of the vessel from transom to forepeak, and allows the minimal use of steps which are strategically situated. The steps leading to below deck are adjacent to those which access the raised pilothouse. The main salon features an L-shaped settee and a high-low table which can be used for both dining and cocktails, a wet bar, and a cabinet with a retractable TV and space for additional entertainment components. A fully-equipped galley, designed to allow use when underway, is located on the same level. Below deck are a master stateroom with an en-suite bath, and two additional staterooms and a second full bath.

While the overall layout of the Fleming 55 has proven so functional that it has remained relatively consistent since its inception – with subtle changes and improvements made with each new hull – the materials, electronics and technology are ever-evolving ensuring that it is outfitted with only the most up-to-date systems.

Purchasing a Fleming 55 allows you to reap the benefits of decades of refinement on a vessel which will confidently stand the test of time.

1989 Bluewater Coastal Cruiser 55  Owner says "Bring All Offers" The Bluewater 55 is a tempting lady if you value space ... lots of it.  The expansive sundeck lets you enjoy the sunshine and a gentle sea breeze.  And, if the weather turns cool, there is plenty of inviting space inside.  You won't even lose the view thanks to all the windows which surround the adjoining salon and galley. Few yachts offer such elegant and elaborate interiors.  A comfortable (electric powered) sofa (three controls for each reclining seat) centers the main spacious salon (new as of January 2016) as well as a separate (electric powered) recliner to the starboard.  The stylish dinette has wrap-around seating.  Clean, linear cabinetry (recently re-finished teak) set off the well-appointed galley that boasts a full size refrigerator/freezer, separate (new) Whirlpool ice-maker, princess stove, and microwave.  Ambient lighting creates warmth throughout the entire main cabin. Fore and aft staterooms feature Queen-sized berths.  Each stateroom has a connecting head, tub (aft) and shower, a built-in Flatscreen television (new), nightstands and cedar-lined closets.  A VIP-stateroom (just across from the galley) also has a queen size berth. There's plenty of sleeping room for eight to ten guests! Powerful twin Crusader 454 engines give her surprising swiftness. Functional controls let you cruise where you want, for as long as you like.  The upper helm station offers a lot of space, security and command ease. Quote by Captain Richard Jaeckel:  "The aftermath of Hurricane Hugo presented me with a perfect opportunity for another Bluewater test with 48 mile-per hour winds and 8' to 12' seas.  Every time, the Bluewater's sharp entry sliced easily through the waves and handled just fine.  In a test run, offshore of San Francisco, I had the Bluewater surfing down the side of waves in excess of 12'.  It felt like I could reach out and touch the sea, but the boat stayed upright and undamaged.  This boat just won't get into trouble, no matter what I try to do to it."

This Peterson Formosa 46 is a special boat and is ready for Bluewater sails throughout the world. We obtained this boat when its captain owner of 30+ years was told he could not sail again. Up until this past season, this boat made regular journeys to Bermuda and throughout the Atlantic Northeast. She has been well maintained, updated where approopriate and still holds its original design elements and charm. We welcome a survey and sea trial to ensure it is the right boat for you. It comes with all the sails, and all are in great condition. There is also a BRAND NEW MAIN sail coming with the boat. The generator has been eliminated in favor of a 1 horsepower diesel engine powering an alternator charging large capacity batteries. This was done as the prvious owner didn't like the groan of a diesel generator running while enjoying air conditioned sleep. This system was just completed and is a state of the art system. What is a Peterson Formosa? The Kelly Peterson 46 and her smaller sister, the 44, have a place in the hearts of cruisers. One interested client I met said, Oh theres a Kelly here? in a soft, careful tone that let on a tender affection for the feminine name. Calling one Kelly feels like naming a lover. These are beautiful boats with nice overhangs, sweet sheer, and spectacular sailing skills. They were meant to sail about the best possible in all conditions. In the 1970s, Jack Kelly was a San Diego, California yacht broker. Seeing what all his clients were looking for, he decided to build the perfect boat. He joined with designer Doug Peterson famous from racing designs such as the Van De Stadts Storm Vogel. In 1976, they came up with a centercockpit performance cruiser instead of the aft cockpit Valiant 40. Kelly thought he might build 10, sell 9, and go cruising. Instead, he built about 200 44s in Taiwan over a six year production run. Formosa Yachts, another yard in Taiwan, started building an 2 extended variation of the 44 they called the 46 Formosa in the early 1980s. Jack Kelly extended the 44 into the 46 Kelly Peterson. This review will mostly deal with the 46-foot versions. These two are much more prized in the brokerage market. Overview A collaboration between designer Doug Peterson and yacht broker Jack Kelly birthed the Kelly Peterson 44, she was quite ahead of her time at her introduction in 1975. A long distance center-cockpit cruiser by design, she has earned a reputation for speedy passages. 180 miles days are not uncommon, with useful performance coming in all wind conditions and points of sail. Today the design is a classic, Kelly Petersons have traveled far and wide and are often seen in far flung locations the world over, especially in the South Pacific. Many have circumnavigated. History Legend has it Jack Kelly, a San Diego yacht broker in search of his ultimate cruising boat, approached yacht designer Doug Peterson who at the time was already starting to make his mark on the racing scene. The boat he drew for Kelly kicked off a narrative, not all that uncommon in the cruising boat industry. It reminds us of the tales behind theValiant 40 and the Alajuela 38 to name a couple. In this particular case the plan was to build ten boats, sell nine, keeping one to sail away. A couple of hundred hulls later, Kelly hadnt left for his voyage but had a thriving boat building business instead. First ImpressionsEssentially, the 44 Kelly Peterson was a double ender with her stern cut-off. This made a rather abrupt ending to a pleasing design. The 46-footers added a counter stern which improves her tremendously. The design has a low profile trunk cabin and sleek fast look. The bow has a moderate rake allowing a soft motion and clean entry. The beam is carried slightly aft of midships. Her sheer curves gently up forward giving 2 inches more of freeboard. Lovely teak frames the rail and handles. I really like her look. Underneath, Peterson was a racing designer, and his skeg hung rudder and long fin keel are fast. There is more wetted surface than you see these days. The keel is slightly greater than most look for at 64. Okay for Jack Kelly on the West Coast but unfortunate for the Bahamas. The beefy 2 spreader cutter rig has more than 1000 square feet of sail area. She is not undercanvased. ConstructionThe construction depends on the manufacturer, and it is hard to make generalizations. Her hull almost guaranteed to be the common Taiwan construction of mat and roving with polyester resin. The deck and trunk cabin are cored with plywood. The hull-deck joint is the common lip-tongue. Most 44s had iron internal ballast while the Queen Long 46s had ten thousand pounds of lead. I have heard of solid glass rudders. Configuration Probably the most noticeable feature of the Kelly Peterson 44 is a near vertical transom, the boat was designed as a double ender with her transom lopped off, making for an abrupt finish to an otherwise pleasing shape. The bow has a fine entry with a moderate rake and the maximum beam is carried slightly aft of midships. Below the waterline theres a fin keel cutaway at the forefoot and aft which reduces her wetted surface, good for both light-air performance and a nimble turning radius. The keel has a relatively long run which helps the boat to track well. A full-size molded-in skeg supports the rudder and provides good protection during the occasional grounding. Protected also is the prop, mounted in an aperture between the skeg and the rudder. One third of her light to moderate displacement of 30,000 pounds is encapsulated in her ballast slung low on her 6 4 keel. This combined with her clean bow entry helps her produce a nice soft motion. Above deck the on this center-cockpit boat is a low-profile cabin trunk which is both sleek and practical in that it aids a lower center of gravity. The cockpit is capaciously social with seating for 8 at a squeeze under anchor. The deck layout is good, with wide side decks bordered by 4 bulwarks and comfortingly high lifelines. Theres both bow and stern pulpits. A large cockpit locker provides for deck storage. Designed for Californian conditions, the Kelly Peterson 44 is driven by a beefy twin spreader cutter rig carrying more than 1000 square feet of canvas, ample for a boat of this displacement. Its also very manageable for a short-handed crew. The mast rises 60 feet above the waterline, keel-stepped, with 3/8 cap shrouds, headstay and backstay. The mainsail sheeting line is on the end of the 17-foot boom, which keeps it out of the cockpit area. The original boats had large mainsails going to the end of the boom, which produced too much weather helm, subsequent boats trimmed the length of the foot 30 inches. Layout [Kelly Peterson 44 Layout] Down below theres a useful three cabin layout (including the saloon) that serves well for both cruising and living aboard. The interior is bright and well ventilated from the three large hatches and twelve portlights. The forward cabin has a vee berth with full standing room and shares an enclosed head with shower aft. The saloon is a bright and open space featuring a straight settee to starboard. Opposite, the main cabin dinette to port has a two position table which converts to another double berth. Centered in the saloon, the keel stepped mast makes for a safe handhold when at sea. The offset companionway hatch allows for a well-equipped U-shaped galley sited to port and has large capacity refrigeration and a gimbaled stove. The double stainless steel sink is close to the centerline and works well on any tack. Starboard of the galley is a full sized, sit down chart table and electrical switch panel. There is an inside passageway to the aft cabin on starboard which provides access to a large engine room encompassing the remainder of the mid ships beam. The master stateroom aft includes a full double berth, and a private head. Additional access to the aft stateroom is offered through a second companionway from the cockpit. Access to the bilge and engine is excellent. Most boats had a 62hp Perkins 4-152 Diesel. Construction The boats were heavily constructed in hand-laid fiberglass matt and roving with polyester resin. Thicknesses range from nearly one inch at the bilges, tapering to 3/4 inches at the waterline and a half inch at the deck. The integral keel encapsulates 10,000 pounds of iron ballast packed with concrete. The rudder consists of a stainless-steel frame, packed with plywood and sheathed in fiberglass. The deck-to-hull joint is a lip-tongue arrangement with a wood brace inserted between the joint in some areas, then fiberglassed over. A teak cap rail was screwed into the wood brace. The plywood-cored decks were finished in non-skid gelcoat as standard but some were optionally fitted with teak decking. Overall construction is known to be solid, one story goes that a Kelly Peterson went aground on a reef in the South Pacific. The boat was pulled across the reef over a hundred feet before sailing away. Under Sail True to Doug Petersons reputation as a racing boat designer, the Kelly Peterson 44 is well known to make fast passages. The theoretical hull speed is 8.3 knots and owners report this is possible on all points of sail given the right conditions. 180 mile days are very attainable. She is well balanced and despite long rudder control lines reaching from her centre cockpit, the feedback at the helm is surprisingly good. The boat is relatively easy to single hand, even in a blow. And importantly, her motion at sea is comfortable. Specifications LOA: 43 10LWL: 38 8Beam: 1211Draft 6 4Bridge Clearance: 60Displacement: 30,000 lbs.Ballast: 10,000 lbs. The 46 even has an entrance through the portside combing. I could not find the key when showing a KP 46, so I opened this combing up. We jumped through to see the interior. It is a surprising entrance. The 46 both Formosa and KP have lengthened cockpits. They are centercockpit cutter rigged and great room, full wide decks. Down below, aft is a centerline queen. These are 2 staterooms like a Hylas 44 with the V-berth forward. A galley is portside no double walkthrough. And there is space on the KP 46 where that portside combing opens for a workroom. UnderwayShe has a long fin keel and skeg hung rudder. She sails fast and even well offshore reeling off 180 mile days in the trades with ease. She was meant to sail well in any wind. Her sheerline sharply increases forward making her a dryer than usual centercockpit. The 44 and later 46 was a popular charterboat used by Bill Stevens of Stevens Caribbean Charters in the 1980s. He would purchase them from Queen Long in Taiwan and commission them at his North Carolina yard. This relationship further developed with the legendary Stevens / Hylas 47. A Word From Our Founder: During my tenure at PwC, people would often ask me to help them find, buy or sell cars. It frustrated me to no end to have only limited ability to help people negotiate. According to the seller, this vessel is in top shape. Everything is functional and in good working order. Updated batteries and thru-hulls as well as other upgrades set this boat apart from the pack. All cabin features, stove, fridge, and more are all good to go. All electronics, with the exception of the single-side-band radio, are less than 7 years old. The windlass is a Loughren-Tigres model with 275' of chain and 175' of 3/4" anchor line attached to a 55' Rocna anchor, all dating from 2018. Propane lines were replaced in 2020. Fridge is from 2017. Stock #365153 RARE 1981 Niagara 35 bluewater cruiser, updated throughout, ready to hit the high seas! This Niagara 35 is a classic built by Hinterhoeller Yachts for open water cruising. Thoughtful use of available space allows for great storage space and generates a roomy, spacious feel belowdecks not normally found in a 35-foot sailboat. This boat was built like a tank for handling any reasonable seas. Another feature rarely found in vessels of this size is a manufacturer-installed fireplace / heater which would be appreciated on adventures to the colder climes. This boat had a bottom job in 2022. In 2020, old batteries and thru-hulls were replaced with new ones. In 2019 the staysail and chain plate were replaced and radar installed. The fireplace is a wood burner and can also burn manufactured logs, coal or charcoal briquettes. It keeps the entire boat T-shirt temperature all winter long. The conventional head has been converted to a composting toilet with the holding tank space now occupied by a bank of 6 batteries along the centerline to improve the balance of the boat. The batteries are broken into a bank of 4 house batteries and 2 engine / windlass batteries. The seller is including a roller furling boom that needs only to be installed to replace the standard boom. Also included is a portable high output 40" double membrane water maker capable of producing 26-37gph of clean water and a brand new, never used, Air Line R360XL Hookah Dive System. All total, this is a great package for the cruise-minded sailor. A quality vessel at a good price. Reason for selling is not using enough.

The Vessel has been maintained well, and has installed many new components, or has back-up systems ready to put in service. All rigging is serviceable, and she is ready to sail. The electrical system was re-wired in 2010, and the upholstery was redone in 2009. Woodwork needs to be brightened up - it is starting to show some age. The Canvas needs repair and cleaning. Bottom was painted in 2005 with an experimental barrier coat to rectify notorious Morgan blistering. On next haul-out in 2008 seller applied five coats of paint and there were no blisters. On the last haul-out in 2012, there was absolutely no blistering. Owner is planning another haul-out this year. Haulout in 2021 showed only a few blisters. A great deal of time and money was invested preparing the boat for a trip to Hawaii. Although this trip had to be abandoned for personal reasons she is still ready for the voyage. Stock #089662 Wonderful Liveaboard or Turn-Key Bluewater Cruiser! New Engine (161 hours!) New Standing Rigging (Used 10 times!) $55k+ in Upgrades & Replacements! This classic full modified keel Morgan 33 Out Island must be seen to be appreciated and will make a wonderful liveaboard or blue water cruiser. She is ready to go! Since 2006, the seller has put $50k+into her in upgrades and replacements and has all records and receipts. With a newer engine with very low hours, new sails, and more, this sturdy and reliable sloop is ready for new adventures! This beauty has a pedigree of having sailed from Florida to Oregon via Cape Horn. If you have been thinking about your special trip to Hawaii, Mexico, or just around the coastal US or Canada but don't want to have to invest in all the gear for a long-distance voyage, this might be the perfect boat for you. The seller believes the standing rigging was replaced prior to purchase in 2006 but there is no documentation of this. The rigging still looks to be in great condition and has only been used about 10 times since replacement. The Morgan Out Island is a classic design from a builder with a tradition for building rugged, go-anywhere sailboats with a large volume of living space. If you don't know the Out Island history, this is a classic boat with an excellent reputation for a quality build. Its full keel and shallow draft make it a great choice for cruising the Islands, and the storage and headroom make her practical as a liveaboard as well. If you are looking for comfort at the expense of some sailing performance, the Out Island is for you. Having said that, the current owner of this vessel has had her point 30-35 degrees into the wind in 12kt wind while making 7kts over the ground with about 15 to 20 heal. The new sails have only been used about 10 times since purchasing. The quarter berth can sleep one and the V-berth is comfortable to sleep two. There is also a custom enclosed entertainment center.
