Yachty first released “Poland” on Soundcloud last week after snippets of the song were leaked online. The 83-second track quickly gained traction with its woozy, 8-bit beat (produced by F1lthy, Lukrative, and Lucian) and its instantly memorable (and meme-able) hook, which Yachty delivers with a distinct wobble in his voice, “I took the Wock to Poland.” (“Wock” is shorthand for Wockhardt, the pharmaceutical company that makes promethazine and codeine cough syrup.)

TikTok Turned Lil Yachty’s ‘Poland’ Into a National Anthem

Lil Yachty wearing a blue shirt and performing on stage

Lil Yachty’s “Poland” is 83 seconds long, jarringly repetitive, and purposefully obtuse. And yet, in the hands of TikTok , it’s become a smash, cracking the top half of the Billboard Hot 100 and becoming the pride of its namesake country.

Not that Yachty intended any of this. “The song was a joke,” he said in a reaction video with YouTuber ZIAS! “Like, I was just trolling.” The hook—“I took the Woooooock to Polaaaaand”—is something he improv’d one night after seeing someone sipping a Poland Spring bottle in the studio. So the Poland he’s singing about could technically be Poland, Maine . (“Wock,” if you’re wondering, is a nod to Wockhardt cough syrup.) As the song went viral, internet sleuths tried to find out when Yachty might’ve gone to the Central European country and mostly came up empty-handed . The 25-year-old Atlanta rapper didn’t even plan to release the track , but he ended up putting it on SoundCloud after it found its way online.

The leak proved fortuitous. After “Poland” hit SoundCloud, TikTokkers transformed the song’s malleable chorus into gags about taking action stars overseas (“ I took the Rock to Poland ”) and staple items back to burrito chains (“I took the guac to Chipotle ”). Someone even made a loaf of bread emblazoned with the lyrics. It inspired more than 20,000 creations in a week.

No small number of those came from Poland itself. One video called Yachty’s name-drop a “ top 10 moment in Polish history .” Rapper Pat wrote , “This is the proudest I’ve been as a Polish person since [soccer player Robert] Lewandowski scored five goals in 9 minutes.” Another user referred to it as Poland’s new national anthem.

Nikodem Rachoń, a spokesperson for the Polish embassy in Washington, DC, says that he hopes the rapper will one day visit the country, and that the embassy would be glad to facilitate the trip. He even added a bit of music criticism: “I'm pretty sure that on such an occasion, he would have lots of opportunities to find some new inspiration for the next verses the song still apparently needs."

Rapper Kinny Zimmer says that as soon as he heard the track, he was “sure it would become viral.” As someone who loves modern Polish culture, he hopes that Yachty’s song will root his home country in the minds of Americans and teach his countrymates “how beautiful our Polish aesthetics are.” Rapper Pezet confessed to preferring a “more old-school sound” than that on “Poland” but liked its “cool new vibe” and hoped it could inspire collaborations between Polish and US hip-hop artists.

Others are embracing the song even more fully. Bedoes has dropped a “Poland” remix; in the video, he’s shirtless on a boat with an ax and a glow-in-the-dark shield . “Lil Yachty mentioning my country was a meme to me,” he says, “but it was also kind of surrealistic, because him being a top artist, known worldwide, rapping about my country was really special. I knew all the ways that it probably was a coincidence that he mentioned Poland, but still, that was really special.” He, too, hopes the strange hit leads to an increased appreciation of Polish culture. “Maybe pierogis with Wock?” he jokes.

Unexpectedly for such a fun lark, there’s a thornier geopolitical angle involved with “Poland.” As Lil Yachty’s song spread, messages began circulating on Twitter that Polish prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki had invited the rapper to visit his country. Local media soon debunked the rumor . Anyone fearing increased authoritarianism in Europe might be pleased to know that Yachty isn’t actually liaising with Morawiecki, who represents the ruling Law and Justice Party, which has been criticized for a crackdown on judicial independence and a general slide away from democratic principles .

As of this writing, TikTok videos tagged #lilyachtypoland are hovering close to 6 million views , search results for the song top 1 billion . Yachty’s own “Poland” video has been viewed more than 14 million times. Ultimately, it's unclear if his song will have a lasting impact on appreciation for Polish culture worldwide, but in a message from the artist on that video's YouTube page , the rapper makes clear it's a song for regular folks: “You're welcome Polish people, you now have Wock.”

Lil yachty, 'poland', the viral soundcloud hit is now an official track.

This #NowPlaying pick comes courtesy of Heat Check .

Here's how I imagine the making of "Poland" went:

LIL YACHTY: "You recording?" ENGINEER: "Yep." LIL YACHTY: "I TOOK THE WOOOOOOOOCK TO POLAND!" F1LTHY: "What the hell was that??" ENGINEER: "Do you wanna try that again?" LIL YACHTY: "Nah trust me ... OK, now make me sound like I'm a robot singing into a fan." RANDOM GUY IN STUDIO: "I'm leaking this."

Whether it's Michigan rap or sample drill, Yachty is constantly looking for new sounds to fold into his world. But the cyber-vibrato on "Poland" reminds me of the goofier Sailing Team days when he was emerging in the wake of Makonnen, KEY and other Atlanta rap mavericks — a singer that couldn't really sing but had enough charisma and auto-tune to pull it off. The song hinges on its insane hook. The verse is kind of forgettable. But that's all it has taken for fans to eat this thing up. Yachty is probably channeling Duwap Kaine, too, a 20-year-old from Savannah, Ga. who's quietly influenced a generation of internet rap crooners by pushing auto-tune to its limits . Kaine seemed to get the message; he's already released a remix .

Lil Yachty recently shared a new song called “Poland” on SoundCloud, which quickly went viral. In response to the demand, Yachty shared an official version of the track on all streaming services. Rappers like Denzel Curry , Wiz Khalifa, and more were among the many to offer their thoughts on the F1lthy-produced track and its now-signature chorus, “I took the Wock to Poland.”

Last month, the Grammy-nominated rapper, singer, and entrepreneur took his love for pizza to the next level with the launch of his first-ever line of frozen pizza, Yachty’s Pizzeria , for sale exclusively in Walmart stores across the country.

Poland

“I’ve loved making and eating pizza my whole life, so this is a project I’m really excited about and have been for a long time. We made some wild flavors but there’s still something for everybody. I take my pizza seriously so I’m looking forward to seeing what people think,” said Yachty.

Yachty’s Pizzeria comes in four mouthwatering flavors, and features Lil Yachty’s creations that includes favorite cheeses, toppings, and bold seasonings.

The complete line from Yachty’s Pizzeria, all priced at $6.98, includes:

Buffalo Style Chicken: Layered with Yachty’s own buffalo ranch sauce and covered in mozzarella cheese, this pizza is topped with spicy chopped buffalo chicken breast and crispy French-fried onions.

Hot Honey Cheese: Topped with a deep bubbly blend of Mozzarella, Provolone, Monterey Jack, Asiago, Romano, and Parmesan on top of a hot tomato sauce that’s sweetened with real honey.

Pepperoni & Bacon: A pizza crust that’s crispy on the outside with tender freshly baked dough on the inside covered in delicious, melted mozzarella cheese, smokey bacon, and deep layers of pepperoni.

Veggie Supreme: Topped with a special mix of bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, and olives, covered with the realest blend of shredded Gouda and Fontina cheeses.

“Yachty’s Pizzeria is an exciting example of a strategic brand extension that both represents the artist’s interest, passion and personality as well as a way to help him expand his business portfolio,” said Richard Yaffa, EVP, Global Brands, UMG. “It’s a thrill to be able to continue to find new ways for our artists to connect with their fans around the world and support these campaigns with best-in-class marketing and creative support.”

Lil Yachty Is Taking Rap By Storm With “Poland,” His Weirdest, Catchiest Song to Date

By Insanul Ahmed

Lil Yachty performs on stage at the 2022 Summer Smash festival at Douglass Park on June 19 2022 in Chicago Illinois.

Lil Yachty is having one of the best weeks of his career thanks to an 83-second song called “Poland,” in which he croons about bringing lean to the Central European country. Since he posted it to Soundcloud nine days ago, the track has become a viral sensation, tallying 6 million plays, inspiring dozens of memes, and making the digital charts in 48 different countries after being uploaded to Apple Music and Spotify. Its video treatment, from in-demand director Cole Bennet, has racked up over 4 million YouTube views and counting. Yachty has since been invited to Poland by the country’s prime minister, Mateusz Morawiecki (at least according to the rapper’s label boss, Pierre “Pee” Thomas). But “Poland” is more than just an unexpected hit: It’s a reminder of Yachty’s oft-doubted potential as a non-traditional rap star.

“I was actually just trolling,” explained Yachty in a reaction video with ZIAS! , talking about how the song randomly came together in the studio when he saw someone“drinking a Poland Spring water bottle. Obviously, I had some Wock, but he had a Poland Spring water bottle. And the song was a joke, like I was just trolling.” Not only was the song a joke, Yachty didn’t even intend to release it until a leak forced his hand. He uploaded it to Soundcloud with the caption, “STOP LEAKING MY SHIT.”

The song became an instant meme thanks to Yachty’s autotune-laced warble of the line “I took the woooOOoooOOck to Poland” (referencing the cough syrup often used in lean) over a woozy beat from Philadelphia producer F1lthy, a member of the Working on Dying producer collective. F1lthy is probably best known for producing six songs on Playboi Carti’s Whole Lotta Red , an album that gained an enduring allure for its sonic experimentation. The hazy “Poland” beat sounds like something that could have slid onto WLR ’s tracklist…or soundtracked the boss level of a 16-bit Sega game.

While it was only officially released to streaming services a couple of days ago, there’s good reason to believe “Poland” will quickly impact the Billboard charts, in spite of—or perhaps because of—its length. Popular on TikTok, “Poland” could potentially follow the trajectory of Armani White’s 99-second breakout hit, “BILLIE EILISH,” British rapper Central Cee’s inescapable 97-second song “Doja,” or Bronx rapper Ice Spice’s viral one-minute and 45-second song “Munch (Feelin’ U).”

But unlike those breakthrough acts, Yachty is already an established artist. He first blew up in 2016 as an 18-year-old, when his viral Soundcloud songs, like “Minnesota” and “One Night,” ushered in his self-described style of "bubblegum trap”—so named because they sounded more like Nickelodeon theme songs than the hard-hitting trap music his Atlanta peers were putting out as the city’s popularity crested. Yachty has always been upfront about not coming from the street life, never acting as if he did in his lyrics. Instead, he oozed optimism, rocked his trademark red hair with aplomb, and had a knack for marketing.

As his career took off, critics scoffed and dismissed him as “mumble rap.” To a certain cohort, he represented everything wrong with hip-hop. Yachty had heated interviews with Joe Budden and Ebro , was criticized by legends like Pete Rock , and upset fans when he said he couldn’t name five songs by either 2Pac or Biggie. Lord Jamaar went so far as to say , “People who like this are actually stupid.”

But the joke was on them. "One Night" went double platinum, and since then he’s had some of his best moments as a collaborator, showing genuine chemistry on bubbly, cheery songs like "Broccoli" and “iSpy” (with DRAM and Kyle, respectively), or trap bangers like "From the D to the A" with Tee Grizzley. The “mumble rapper” proved to be an adept songwriter, penning “Act Up,” a hit song for his QC labelmates City Girls. (His cameo in the music video is a tacit nod to his authorship.)

At the same time, the criticism was not completely unwarranted. His debut album, 2017’s Teenage Emotions , clocked in at 70 minutes and it was clear he didn’t always have that much to say. At best, he was charming with a melodic flair. At worst, his bars could come off lazy and clumsy, with lines like, "You stinky and dirty like farts."

In 2018, he dropped two albums, Lil Boat 2 and Nuthin’ 2 Prove . Despite the latter’s title, it felt like he had internalized the criticism of his early career and was determined to prove he really could rap. On “Everything Good, Everything Right,” he spits, “Gotta prove everyone wrong/Had to take some time alone/Had to regroup, got that shit right.” Yet for all his efforts, he simply wasn’t a top-tier lyricist. His brand is positivity, his attempts at being braggadocious an awkward fit. Generic lines about being a rich, iced-out rapper stripped him of his individuality. His determination became a detriment, he went from meshing with others to getting eclipsed by collaborators like Cardi B and Offset on songs like “Who Want the Smoke.”

Follow-up albums like Lil Boat 3 and Michigan Boy Boat exhibited some musical growth and emotional maturity—particularly the latter, which embraced Detroit rap styles. But neither of those projects produced hits. Ultimately, he may never win over the critics, though it’s clear he doesn’t need to.

The best part about “Poland” is that it’s cold like “Minnesota.” Yachty’s deep baritone voice can lead him to a monotone delivery, which doesn't always make for compelling verses. On “Poland,” the autotune adds texture, his words unfurl like a bottle of lean carefully being poured into soda. The amateurish nature of his singing and his tendency to carry one melody throughout a song only adds to its appeal. Now 25 years old and seven years removed from his breakout song, Yachty is on the verge of another hit because he embraced the playfulness that made him unique in the first place.

Sure, he’s probably never been to Poland , but the line was perfect fodder for memes. The meme that truly captures the song’s peculiar appeal is a TikTok video posted by @chadio where he starts out calling the song trash before actually listening to it and being seduced by its charm, the malleable lyrics morph from “walk to Poland” to “rock to Oakland” to “guac to Chipotle.” A cynical mind might wonder if there was an orchestrated marketing campaign behind them popping up so fast, but, much like the song itself, they’re too fun to think too hard about.

Following several leaks last week, Lil Yachty shared the new song to SoundCloud, where it quickly went viral. Denzel Curry, Wiz Khalifa and more celebrities quickly reacted to the cut’s now-famous hook: “I took the Wock to Poland.”

Today, Yachty has officially released the song – produced by F1lthy, Lucian and Lukrative, and still just over 80 seconds long – on digital streaming platforms.

‘Poland’ marks Yachty’s first official solo track of this year, following several features on songs including Fivio Foreign‘s ‘Slime’ and Diplo‘s ‘Humble’. The rapper’s last full-length release was 2020’s ‘Lil Boat 3’, though last year saw the rapper share his ‘Michigan Boat Boy’ mixtape and ‘Birthday Mix 6’ EP.

Listen to ‘Poland’ below.

Earlier this year (January 22), Yachty teased an “alternative” album with “psychedelic” elements that won’t exhibit his usual rap music.

The rapper made the comments while picking up new custom pieces at the Atlanta-based jewellery store Icebox, which released a clip from his visit.

“My new album is a non-rap album,” he said in footage captured at the store [per Complex ]. Yachty added that it was the first time he’d publicly addressed the project: “It’s alternative, it’s sick.”

When asked who or what inspired him to go in a different musical direction, he answered: “I’ve always wanted to [make an alternative album] but now I’ve met all these amazing musicians and producers.”.

Lil Yachty has officially released his internet-toppling, viral hit “ Poland .” The standalone track has quickly taken the world by storm, with Yachty’s frank yet infectious hook inspiring an outpouring of media coverage, memes, fan-created covers, and even renaissance-style artwork of his storied voyage to Poland. With a run time of only 1:23, Yachty proves he doesn’t need much time to craft an inventive, ascendant, and addictive earworm.

To accompany the release, Yachty joined forces with director Cole Bennett for a new music video, available now.

Lil Yachty Releases Viral Song ‘Poland’ on Streaming Services: Listen

Navjosh

Lorne Thomson/Redferns

Lil Yachty released his first new song in over a year last week and caught an immediate hit.

The song, title ‘Poland’ was uploaded to Soundcloud by the dynamic rapper on October 7. It’s produced by F1LTHY and is only 1 minute 20 seconds long. However, the chorus on the track where Yachty sings, “I took the WoOoOOoOoock to Poland” went viral on social media very quickly.

The “wock” on the song seems to be referring to the drink lean which is a combination of cough syrup and soda (please stay away from drugs). The nickname is made from Wockhardt, the Indian pharmaceutical company which produces the high selling cough syrup.

The 15 Best Lil Yachty Songs

Screen Shot 2022 05 12 at 12.28.52 PM

Let's talk about the best Lil Yachty songs - from his early days with "One Night" to his most recent unreleased leaks. The Atlanta rapper has come such a long way since his debut on SoundCloud and subsequent signing to Quality Control. In no particular order, here's our list of the 15 best Lil Yachty songs.

RELATED: Introducing Dc2Trill, the Texan Rap Phenom

15. "Plastic" - Lil Yachty (feat. Icewear Vezzo and Rio Da Yung OG) (2021)

Best Lil Yachty Songs 3

What better way to start this list off than Lil Yachty's iconic Michigan Boy Boat album from 2021? This banger features the likes of Icewear Vezzo and Rio Da Yung OG, who matched Yachty's energy perfectly. Talk about a Michigan masterpiece: "Plastic" shows off the best elements of the hip-hop sub-genre.

14. "Who Want The Smoke?" - Lil Yachty (feat. Cardi B and Offset) (2018)

Best Lil Yachty Songs 8

Who can forget the first time they heard "Who Want The Smoke?" with Lil Yachty, Offset, and Cardi B all together on a single song. The energy was absolutely electric, and it's no coincidence why all three of them have continued to thrive in their respective careers to this day.

13. "Split/Whole Time" - Lil Yachty (2020)

Best Lil Yachty Songs 9

This is arguably one of the hardest Yachty songs ever, I will vouch for that on anything. From the intro to the very last moment of this song, there's something very special about this one. It's so characteristic of Yachty, so it's no surprise why it's become such a popular song.

12. "Minnesota" - Lil Yachty (feat. Quavo, Young Thug, and Skippa Da Flippa) (2016)

Best Lil Yachty Songs 1

Off his debut album, "Minnesota" is an absolute classic Lil Boat banger. The song shows off all of the best sides of Yachty around the time of his breakout into the music scene. Ahh, the good ol' days of SoundCloud.

11. "Solid" - Lil Yachty (feat. SoFaygo) (2021)

Best Lil Yachty Songs 2

The beat of this song makes you want to tilt your head back and ascend into the sky. From Yachty's cunning bars to SoFaygo's unmatched vocal approach, they bodied this beat perfectly, and showed exactly how fire a collab between the two of them is.

10. "T.D." - Lil Yachty (feat. Tierra Whack, A$AP Rocky, and Tyler, the Creator) (2020)

Let's not forget Yachty's song with this legendary cast of characters, which sampled the "Tokyo Drift" production, and became a modern classic. Every artist on this song has a reputation for being creative, and they didn't disappoint with this one.

9. "Demon Time" - Lil Yachty (feat. Draft Day) (2020)

Yachty has a knack for putting listeners on to the best underground artists, and that's exactly what he did here with Draft Day. If you're a seasoned Yachty listener, then this feature should've came at no surprise to you.

8. "Get Dripped" - Lil Yachty (feat. Playboi Carti) (2018)

Here's yet another one of the best Lil Yachty songs. Off of Yachty's Nuthin' to Prove album, "Get Dripped" gave fans a rare glance at just how special Yachty and Carti collabs are. The two artists morph their unique Atlanta-based styles together, and create music that literally nobody else in rap could replicate.

7. "66" - Lil Yachty (feat. Trippie Redd) (2018)

Best Lil Yachty Songs 7

As far as timeless Lil Yachty classics go, this song is one of the top options. Trippie Redd and Lil Yachty both bring an unconventional style to the table, so of course the result of their collaboration is exactly that: unconventional.

6. G.I. Joe - Lil Yachty (feat. Louie Ray) (2021)

Another song from Yachty's Michigan Boy Boat album, "G.I. Joe" was yet another standout. It's great to see the chemistry Yachty has with all of the many features from this project, but there's something especially unique about the energy shared between Boat and Louie Ray.

5. "All of the Opps Is Opp'd" - Lil Yachty (Unreleased)

Best Lil Yachty Songs 10

While not everyone is probably hip to this song, everybody should be. This Cash Cobain-produced banger samples Roy Ayers' "Everybody Loves the Sunshine," and turned it into a contemporary drill classic. Thank us later.

4. "Dynamic Duo" - Lil Yachty (feat. Tee Grizzley) (2021)

The name of the song is no lie: Lil Yachty and Tee Grizzley really are a "Dynamic Duo," but you should've known that already, after their prior collabs. To Lil Boat diehards, this was no surprise. On a stacked project, somehow this song managed to be one of the standouts.

3. "Poland" - Lil Yachty (2022)

Best Lil Yachty Songs 6

Talk about "best Lil Yachty songs." It's impossible to forget the iconic moment Yachty had with the leak of this song. "I took the woOoOoOoOok... to Poland" will never get old, at least to the younger generation. The memes that were generated from this wave will surely never age, that's for sure.

2. "DipSet" - Lil Yachty and Offset (2016)

Best Lil Yachty Songs 5

Lil Yachty and Offset have connected numerous times on collaborations, yet for some reason, this one never ceases to smack. If you haven't heard it already, here's your chance. Feast your ears upon yet another classic.

1. "Coffin" - Lil Yachty (2020)

Best Lil Yachty Songs 4

One of the most memorable Lil Yachty releases ever was his 2020 single, "Coffin." From the moment the video teaser dropped, the hype was there. This felt like the start of a new era of Lil Yachty, embracing the most modern landscape of music, as he's always done in true Yachty fashion.

Lil Yachty's Viral TikTok Song 'Poland' Noticed By THIS Person, Gets Invited To Poland

Lil Yachty

In a hilarious twist, Lil Yachty's song "Poland," in which he sings "I took the Wock' to Poland," refers to Wockhardt Pharmaceutical and their promethazine-codeine syrup.

The song took off on TikTok, where it easily became a meme, as people started using the audio and tagged it under the hashtag "I took the Wock' To Poland," reports  say.

As of this writing, the music video, directed by Cole Bennett, has garnered over two million views on YouTube with over 300 thousand likes and 22 thousand comments.

Invitation to Celebrate

The song's massive success was undeniable, and it even reached Poland's head of state, Mateusz Morawiecki.

On Oct. 12, Quality Control's CEO, Pierre Thomas, claimed that the Prime Minister of Poland is inviting the 25-year-old rapper to "celebrate."

"Thank you for the call. Let's make arrangements to get Mr. Yachty to [your] country to celebrate," he wrote.

"Will check the schedule and get back [to] you. Thank you for your time," replied Prime Minister Morawiecki.

The conversation between the two was screen captured by Thomas, which was sent to Yachty. His conversation with Yachty was also screen captured by Thomas and uploaded on social media, HipHop DX reports.

Fans found the entire exchange hilarious, with some finding is ridiculous that Poland's Prime Minister would invite someone singing about bringing drugs into their country.

"Invited to meet the PM of the country about bringing drugs there," a fan tweeted , with a laughing emoji.

"[...] Probably the only artist in history to meet with a prime minister after making a song about promethazine-codeine," another wrote .

The entire situation seemed too good to be true as a fan tweeted : "the prime minister of Poland reaching out to Lil Yachty because of a song about taking the Wock' to Poland is the funniest s**t ever."

Meanwhile, other fans were not so enthusiastic, but more skeptical. "Ain't no way ima try to go back to a country when I made a song about sneaking a narcotic in," a Twitter user wrote .

"Wock' is blocked in Poland and our Prime Minister is inviting Lil Yachty that wrote a song about Poland with the main topic of Wock'," another tweeted .

The YouTube video's comments are no different as some fans pointed out that the drug is illegal in the country. "That fact that Wock' is banned in Poland and Sir Boat would go to prison for bringing it there, yet he pushed through and somehow managed to smuggle it in. Truly breathtaking and an incredible show of courage. Utmost respect to you Sir Boat."

Lil Yachty, born Miles Parks McCollum, got his start in music by releasing his songs on the Internet. He signed a joint venture record deal with Quality Control Records, Capitol Records, and Motown in 2016. He has also been nominated for Grammy Awards for "Broccoli" under Best Rap/Sung Collaboration in 2017 and as a featured artist in "Donda" for Album of the Year in 2022.

Lil Yachty Has a Wild Clapback to Fans Saying He Stole Playboi Carti’s Flow

Lil Yachty is clapping back at fans who accused the rapper of stealing Playboi Carti 's flow on a new song.

Lil Yachty Has a Wild Clapback to Fans Saying He Stole Playboi Carti's Flow

On Wednesday (March 20), Yachty responded to chatter online surrounding his flow on an unreleased song Kai Cenat previewed  during a livestream last Monday (March 18). Fans were quick to call out Lil Boat's cadence on the track, with many of them comparing it to Carti's.

"Biting him? How did I bite him?" Yachty wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, in response to a critic. "If that's the case i been workin with cardio since 2019-2020 on record yall fans be smoking the strongest d**k."

Cardo is known for producing all of Carti's most recent releases : "H00dByAir," "Ketamine," "EvilJ0rdan" and "Backr00ms." So fans were quick to clap back at Yachty's clapback.

"The song is terrible," the user @hadmyback replied . "The beat is a ‘H00DBYAIR’-type beat. Your flow is an obvious attempt at a Carti flow, and you used a ‘what’ ad-lib in the same cadence [that] Carti uses.”

Lil yachty announces new album.

Boat had previously announced in an  Instagram  post on Feb. 13 that he is dropping a  new album with James Blake .

"I mean, granted, I think James has worked with a quite substantial amount of hip-hop  artists. But this project is so left for both of us," the  Quality Control  rapper said in the video clip. "And then, aside from the one picture that James posted, which—he doesn’t have many followers actually—I don’t think people know that we know each other exist. So it’s just gon’ be like, 'What the f**k? When they do this?'"

Lil Yachty had previously dropped off "A Cold Sunday" on Feb. 2.

The teenage rapper secured a major cosign from Lil Yachty.

ITS US

Young rapper NEMZZZ has had a few viral moments dating back to 2021. That included a viral hit on TikTok in 2021 and his "NEMZZZ Type Beat" last year. Earlier this month, he released his long-awaited debut album DO NOT DISTURB . It arrived on the back of his singles like "MONEY AND VIBES" and "L's." It didn't take long for fans to hone in on the breakout track of the deluxe edition. NEMZZZ grabbed Lil Yachty for an impressive crossover on the song "ITS US." While the track is short, it's absolutely packed full of personality. It has a beat that combines hard-hitting drums and glistening keys that suits both Yachty's singing and Nemz' rapping. They also released a music video for the new song which is simple but effective. It's racked up more than 200k views on Youtube in just a few days since it was dropped. Lil Yachty on Claim He Copied Playboi Carti's Sound: 'Y'all Fans Be Smoking the Strongest Dick'

Yachty also pointed out that he's been working with producer Cardo for several years.

Lil Yachty has a message for those he believes are "smoking the strongest dick" when it comes to assessing his music .

As seen below, Kai Cenat recently previewed an unreleased Yachty track during a stream, prompting some listeners to start comparing the clip to the work of Playboi Carti , who's expected to drop his long-teased Whole Lotta Red follow-up at some point this year.

kai cenat just previewed a new lil yachty snippet on stream pic.twitter.com/wi75w15snr — isaiah✰ (@tlop444) March 19, 2024

One tweeted response in particular ultimately caught Yachty's attention, with a listener arguing that Carti "can't try 1 new sound without rappers immediately biting him." Yachty disagreed, as did other listeners.

“[B]iting him? how did i bite him?” Yachty asked. “[T]he beat? if that’s the case i been workin with cardo since 2019-2020 on record yall fans be smoking the strongest dick.”

A screenshot of a Twitter exchange between users discussing a rapper's collaboration and music evolution

Cardo’s production discography is extensive and notably includes several recent Carti releases, " H00DBYAIR " among them. He’s also worked with Drake , Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, and more. Just last month, he was enlisted for Yachty's " Something Ether ."

As fans will recall, Yachty urged Akademiks to " stop drinking " in July of last year after a claim about Carti inspiring his then-recent artistic output.

"He said he’s in the studio with Carti and Carti made him change his entire sound. Facts," Akademiks claimed at the time, swiftly spurring a response from Yachty, who called him "so insane" for making the remarks.

"I didn’t tell u this at all,” Yachty added.

Next for Yachty is a run of tour dates including previously announced performances at the Dreamville Festival in Raleigh and Coachella in Indio, both slated for April. As for more new music, Yachty recently spoke out about a full-length collaborative project with James Blake, tentatively titled Bad Cameo .

Lil Yachty Shuts Down Playboi Carti Sound Comparisons

Earlier this week, Kai Cenat previewed an unreleased song from Lil Yachty during his livestream. After fans accused the “A Cold Sunday” artist of copying Playboi Carti’s cadence, he decided to respond on Twitter yesterday (March 20) evening.

“Biting him? How did I bite him? The beat? If that’s the case, I [have] been workin’ with Cardo since 2019 or 2020 on record. Y’all fans be smoking the strongest d**k,” Yachty quote-tweeted a social media user’s shade. The original post that he responded to read, “Carti can’t try one new sound without rappers immediately biting him. He’s generational.”

Cardo, who’s known for producing songs for Drake, Travis Scott, and Kendrick Lamar, has worked on several of Carti’s recent releases. The Grammy-winning beatmaker is responsible for “H00DBYAIR,” “KETAMINE,” “ EVILJ0RDAN ,” and “BACKR00MS,” all of which are expected to appear on the musician’s next album.

Unfortunately for Yachty, people pointed out more alleged similarities than just the beat. One account wrote, “The song is terrible. The beat is a ‘H00DBYAIR’-type beat. Your flow is an obvious attempt at a Carti flow, and you used a ‘what’ ad-lib in the same cadence [that] Carti uses.”

Yachty also dismissed accusations of him copying Carti last year. In July 2023, DJ Akademiks claimed the Whole Lotta Red artist “made him change his entire sound” during a livestream . The music commentator further alleged that records like “Poland” and “Strike (Holster)” drew influence from the Georgia native.

However, Yachty quickly pointed out, “[You are] so insane. I didn’t tell [you] this at all. Stop drinking, bro. I said [Tyler, The Creator] encouraged me to take that route.”

In 2023, the QC rapper put out Let’s Start Here. , which featured Justine Skye, Teezo Touchdown, Daniel Caesar, Diana Gordon, and Fousheé. It saw him venturing into psychedelic rock and spawned songs like “drive ME crazy!” and “pRETTy.”
