Moppie, was the new 31-foot powerboat which, in 1960, caught the attention of all with this revolutionary new hull design. She was the prototype of this incredible Deep-V hull. Moppie won the Miami-Nassau offshore powerboat race to top the excitement off with a bang. It was most impressive as a third of the fleet fell out of the race due to the oceans horrific conditions, yet Moppie won and in record time! Her average speed of 20 knots during the race gained the attention of many. Sports Illustrated even wrote of this event and brought the Hunt Deep-V it’s fame.

The design firm of C. Raymond Hunt Associates has created versions of the Hunt Deep-V for over fifty years for the well - known manufacturers such as Grady White, Grand Banks, and Boston Whaler. To introduce you to the model line-up, let’s look further. Hunt offers an Ocean 56, and Ocean 63, and an Ocean 76. One of the most popular of those three is the Hunt Ocean 63 which has been designed and built for the boater who is used to the best, searching for a special build experience and a custom built yacht that offers speed and performance in nearly all ocean conditions. You will feel confident to come to Hunt Yachts with a specific vision of what your perfect yacht should look like and have that vision come to fruition. Choose from cherry, teak or mahogany or any other custom desire when stepping into the design project. The Hunt Ocean 63 offers several different layouts including 3 or 4 cabins or galley up or down, etc. You’ll find it hard to find another yacht in its size or class offering as many layouts along with the customization the 63 provides.

Their Coastal models include the Harrier 26, SurfHunter 32, 32 Center Console and the Harrier 32. To dig a little further into one of those that seem to be turning lots of heads is the last one mentioned - the Harrier 32.

The Harrier 32 is a version of the classic flush deck runabout and received its inspiration from the sweet Harrier 26. The Harrier 32 is a sporty classic featuring additional space on deck and below making her the perfect boat for daytrips and weekend jaunts. Her enormous cockpit and on-deck galley makes entertaining a breeze. We wish to point out her stand-up, enclosed head with shower, wide v-berth, and plenty of storage. The 32 CC is ready for whatever adventures await. If you can dream it, this center console can do it. The 32 CC’s innovative design combines the key attributes of a luxury day boat with the functionality of a center console fishing boat; all on the authentic Hunt Deep-V hull. Grab the rods, wakeboards, the ice and friends and have your best summer aboard the 32 CC.

Inviting & Innovative

Hunt’s innovative extension of the center console (reaching from centerline to the port rail), allows for an aft-facing, walk-in companionway leading to a real interior. Because it faces aft, the helm and cockpit can communicate easily with those below. This companionway configuration is very family friendly – the kids can go below in safety, even while running. In addition, the extended console accommodates both an enclosed, stand-up head (with shower!) and a separate “gallette” with sink, fridge, microwave and storage. There’s even a single daybed located forward.

Relax In Luxury

When you reach your destination, the expansive flush cockpit is roomy and inviting. The integral swim platform invites swimming and watersports while the optional side door makes boarding and disembarking a breeze. The forward “J” seating accommodates eight in luxurious comfort, and the optional teak table is ready for al fresco dining.  At the end of the day, the 32 CC boasts two showers – both a transom and stand-up shower below – to freshen up for dinner or the ride home.

Fishing Frenzy

If your plans include angling, the starboard side walk-around access provides ample room for your fishing crew.  The aft seat folds out of the way, giving access to the integral aft swim platform — the perfect spot for landing your catch before storing it in the insulated locker. Completing the layout are the live well in the transom, under-gunwale rod holders, and lockable under-seat rod storage. Additional rod storage is available below.

Two weeks later: The hunt for missing Mizzou student Riley Strain in Nashville

Friday marks two weeks since a University of Missouri college senior vanished under the cover night in downtown Nashville.

Riley Strain, 22, disappeared March 8 after being kicked out of a bar along Lower Broadway in Music City's entertainment district known as honky-tonk row.

So far, there has been no indication of foul play in the missing person's case, Metro Nashville Police Department spokesperson Brooke Reece told USA TODAY on Thursday.

This week,  body camera footage  was released, with a portion showing Strain’s brief interaction with a Metro police officer the day he vanished, The Tennessean, part of the USA TODAY Network reported.

On Thursday, Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron told USA TODAY Strain "visited several establishments in the area that Friday afternoon and evening."

The police department is handling the missing person investigation with help from Nashville Office of Emergency Management and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

Now in its second week , the search lead to authorities to find Strain’s  bank card on the embankment of the Cumberland River, a major waterway of the South which weaves through downtown Nashville and eventually flows back north into Kentucky.

The US Army Corps of Engineers shut a damn off in the river on Wednesday and boats equipped with sonar were in the water on Thursday searching for Riley, Aaron said.

“The parked barges collect debris around them, so we are going through the barge debris fields as well as keeping an eye on the river,” Aaron said.

The Cheatham County Sheriff's Office, directly west of Davidson County where Nashville is located, is also assisting with the missing persons case, Reece said, because MNPD's river coverage stops at the county line.

So far, Nashville Crime Stoppers has received more than 160 tips regarding his possible whereabouts.

“Some theories, some thoughts,” Aaron said.

Additional enlisted help from United Cajun Navy

During a Tuesday press conference in Nashville, Strain's stepfather, Chris Whiteid, announced his family had enlisted help from the United Cajun Navy to find him.

While Whiteid said Strain's family is grateful for the help from local police and volunteers, more aide is needed "to bring Riley home," The Tennessean reported.

“(United Cajun Navy) is an extra resource for us,” Whiteid said at the press conference. “We’re 10-11 days into this… As the days drag on, we are frustrated. We know (Metro Police) are doing their jobs.”

Strain's mother also spoke briefly during the news conference, video footage provided by The Tennessean shows.

"He's my best friend, my everything," Michelle Strain Whiteid, said through tears as she held her husband's arm.

'No closer to finding Riley'

In another development this week, Chris Dingman, a family friend reported the last known communication Strain had was a text message he sent to a woman he was talking to.

“She texted him to see how he was doing... if he was having fun. He sent kind of a scripted text back to her saying ‘Good (what appears to read the word luck),'” Dingman said during an interview Monday on NewsNation’s “ Elizabeth Vargas Reports .”

"We're no closer to finding Riley.... We've even reached out to the TBI ( Tennessee Bureau of Investigation ) for help," Dingman said during the interview. "How does a 6'5'', 6'6'', blonde hair, blue eyed guy disappear? We just want Riley home. He’s a great kid.”

On Thursday, Reece told USA TODAY the TBI is not involved in the hunt.

More volunteers needed

David Flagg, director of operations for the United Cajun Navy, said while his organization largely responds to natural disasters, it also supports missing persons cases.

“I would encourage any volunteers who have been here to please come under the umbrella of the United Cajun Navy search,” Flagg said.

Anyone with information about Riley's whereabouts is asked to call Nashville police.
