The Palm Beach Yacht Club is a Private Club for Members and their guests. It is one the Palm Beaches most established clubs with a rich history entwined in the early years of development along the Intracoastal Waterway. The Club's members, yesterday and today, are drawn from all spheres of life and intersect professionally, socially, and in leisure pursuits naturally adding to the Club's distinction. The ambiance of the Club, its staff and facility, are well appreciated by Club members and the local community which benefits greatly from the Club's many contributions to local charities. The Marina is open to the public and has 45 slips to accommodate boats from 35 feet up to 125 feet.

Location Info

  • Mega Yacht Slips

2009 Rates:$2.25/ft/night (includes water) plus shore power: $4 for 30 amp, $8 for 50 amp and $8 for 100 amp. Parking is also free but is somewhat minimal.

Transient slips are based on the annual leases so there are only a few transient slips available. Therefore, they cannot make advanced reservations until a few days prior to your arrival date. Valet is recommended for parking and is also free as long as you have a slip but is also a little tricky because they have heavy dining crowds for lunch and dinner. You may want to consider making reservations for dining as soon as possible. Capt. Willie and the head dockmaster Phil are very helpful.

Palm Beach Yacht Club

Ratings and reviews, location and contact.

Palm Beach yacht club is a throwback to when elegance and service were expected. Pbyc lives up to this tradition including five star menus and fair pricing. A six star experience! 😎😎😎😎😎😎

Beautiful view! The Best Service! Outstanding food! One of the largest menus I have ever seen in any restaurant. I had to Bronzino. Others had Sea-bass and the lobster tail. We are so grateful to be invited by a member while we are visiting Palm... Beach. More

After reading the wonderful reviews on the Restaurant I called to make reservations and was disappointed in knowing that only members can dine. Have to find out membership qualifications!

I ordered the seared tuna, when it arrived it had a strange beige color and I told the waiter that I had asked for it rare, after arguing with me that the tuna was rare he asked me to taste just to make sure, when... I tasted it I realized that the tuna had gone bad and I had to spit it out in the napkin. I wonder why anyone goes there, yes it does have a nice view but everything else is just awful. The service is terrible, the waiters have the sourest attitude I have encountered, the food is mediocre and ridiculously overpriced, parking is obligatory valet, or else since they have taken all nearby spots one must park two blocks away. Additionally service is so slow you have to allow 2.5 hours for lunch, it takes them 45 minutes just to bring the menu. Oh, yes one more thing, they try to overcharge you if you are not careful. More

The Thanksgiving dinner was horrible, the turkey was cold and dry, the white meat looked, tasted, and had the consistency of pressed turkey breast, which probably was. The side dishes were unimaginative and bland, the gravy must have come out of a can, the apple... pie was dense, and the price was abusive given the quality of the food. And now for the service, they were arrogant, inattentive, and poorly trained, they forgot to get the order for one of the guest at our table, they forgot to bring wine for another, and then charged twice for it, they took the order for the hosts before that of their guests, they complained about having to work on Thanksgiving, just a very poor level of service overall. Oh, and did I forget to mention that it took over one hour to be served? Will not be going back there again for this type of dinner, or maybe for any other, their prices are ridiculously high for what they serve and the food is nothing special. Once you get over the view, which is nice, there are so many better places to eat in either Palm Beach or West Palm Beach. More

Great food, great service, ambiance and a superb location are part of the reason I eat here frequently. I love everything about this venue and think that it’s a gem.

Second visit to Yacht Club and same result. Extremely disappointing food. Wife ordered lobster. Came out overdone and had to be sent back. Came back with two more lobsters that were basically raw and could not be eaten. I ordered a special "Filet Mignon" skewer... with onions and peppers. $50 for about 2-3 ounces of meat a sliver of onion and the peppers were basically non-existent. Started with Lobster Bisque which was excellent. Fantastic views, but food, in our cases, simply doesn't measure up. If this restaurant wasn't on the water, it would be out of business in months. More

Over the years I have had some of the best meals from the kitchen of The Palm Beach Yacht Club. I hear that the kitchen is tiny, but the menu is varied and each dish is beautifully prepared. If you are not a member and... receive an invitation to dine here, either lunch or dinner, be prepared to be surprised. The view over the ICW is another surprise, especially at night. More

The view of the water is very good the service is good ONLY IF YOU TIP 30-40 %…..the food is good but excessively overpriced. The service is pretentious…average and inexcusable for the price….it’s as if the waiters are captains of industry and serve you in... an arrogance that is just unbelievable….unless every word they say generates a tip…..give a waiter a dinner suit and he transforms into an unapproachable artist who shouldn’t be doing this job as it’s beneath him. The kitchen produces good food but service arrogance spoils all…..this is such a shame…. It’s the kings cloths…maybe they will wake up and provide service that should be perfect for the excessive prices charged…..where old money has lost its way. More

As a long time member it never ceases to amaze me how superb the food is and the service so impeccable. It was rated one of the top clubs in the world. In my opinion there is no other. Its the best.

We were invited here with friends. Upon arrival, Our friends (members) have not been here for some time but were greeted with open arms. We were seated promptly. Every table has an awesome view of the water. The servers were spot on. I had the... soft shell crab appetizer which was wonderful. My wife and host had the chilean sea bass which was out of this world. I had the filet which was perfectly cooked. The Opus One wine was spectacular. Need I say more? More

We have been members for years and never disappointed. The lobster bisque is regarded as among the very best in Florida. Staff knows your name and free birthday dinners are celebrated with staff singing your birthday song. I enjoy the crispy duck and my wife... likes their Oyster's Rockefeller and crab cakes. We have also celebrated office parties here for lunch and never been disappointed. Management always tried to please. Special dinners add to the variety of the club. Summertime specials are a bargain. Lewis H. Kaminester, M.D. More

We went with a friend hoping for a lovely elegant evening. What we got was a dinner served so fast we could have been finished in 45 minutes The yacht club is a lovely venue with a great view of Palm Beach. Upon arrival you... are greeted by a maitre’D dressed in a tux. Menus are distributed, with the ladies given one with no prices. Very old world. Before we had a chance to read them the waiter Arrived waiting to take our order. Our order was placed, and the appetizers arrived before we had a chance to have even the shortest of conversations. Soon after our plates were removed, the entree was served. We barely had time to eat. I then recalled my first meal At Lutece, The timing of the service was absolutely seamless. You never felt rushed, or impatient. When a restaurant advertises itself as fine dining, your guests Should not feel as if they are being pushed out. The food is always good, although sometimes a little salty, And as I said before it is a lovely elegant place. Although for the Price, I didn’t feel I got my money’s worth. More

Clearly the best view in West Palm Beach, this membership restaurant has excellent seafood and steaks with world class service. Dressy for sure, men must wear jackets. A great place for a romantic dinner.

I had the pleasure of having dinner at this Yacht Club recently - an "A" experience!! Highly recommend. Menu is quite varied and the cocktails are very nicely poured!

And “Palm Royale,” an Apple TV original series set in Palm Beach in the 1960s , is the fourth-most watched show streaming on Apple TV+ as of April 1.

The show has a knock-out cast, starring Kristen Wiig, Allison Janney, Laura Dern, Ricky Martin, Josh Lucas and Carol Burnett.

If watching the show has you itching to step into the life of a 1960s socialite in Palm Beach, we have the perfect vacation itinerary for you.

Palm Royale Episode 4 recap: Maxine schemes and Norma speaks - kind of

What club is 'Palm Royale' based on?

The series’ production designer told Country and Townhouse in a March interview that the country club in the show is a fictional one, inspired by several iconic, exclusive clubs in Palm Beach, like The Breakers , The Everglades Club and The Bath and Tennis Club.

How to visit Palm Beach like a ‘Palm Royale’ socialite

Travel experts at vacation planning platform Islands.com noticed an uptick in interest for visiting Palm Beach following the release of “Palm Royale.”

The team at Islands.com analyzed Google Search data and found that searches for "Palm Beach" and "Palm Royale" were up 1,150% just one week after the show’s premiere. Searches for “The Breakers Palm Beach” and “The Everglades Club” were also soaring, up 4,200% and 4,550%, respectively.

Here’s a “Palm Royale” tour of Palm Beach, according to search interest data collected by Islands.com:

Visit or stay at The Breakers

Founded in the 1890s by Henry Flagler, The Breakers is an Italian Renaissance-style hotel and piece of Florida history, occupying 140 acres of oceanfront property on the island of Palm Beach.

The Breakers Palm Beach resort features a private beach, four oceanfront pools, six whirlpool spas, 10 restaurants, a golf course, an al fresco shopping plaza, a boutique hotel atop the resort and a family entertainment center.

The five-star, luxury resort has hosted a menagerie of celebrities and America’s elite throughout the years, including Elizabeth Taylor, Cary Grant, Rita Hayworth, Clark Gable, the Rockefellers, Vanderbilts and Astors, Andrew Carnegie and J.P. Morgan, to name just a few.

The Breakers offers a tour every Tuesday, by reservation for $15 per person.

“You can expect to pay over $900 per night for two adults at The Breakers. All in all, it's an over-the-top luxury stay,” according to Islands.com.

Have poolside lunch or stay at The Colony Hotel

For the “Barbie” lovers out there, this hotel is perfectly pink . This historical fixture on Palm Beach’s high-end waterfront first opened in 1947 and still offers an eclectic, luxury experience for guests.

This British Colonial-style hotel has been attracting socialites, celebrities and wealthy snowbirds for decades.

It costs around $950 each night to book a stay at The Colony , according to Islands.com.

The Colony offers a Florida resident discount, but you don’t have to pay to stay at the hotel to enjoy its pretty pink aesthetics.

The Colony Hotel’s Pink Paradise cafe – yes, that’s its real name – offers coffee, pastries and breakfast and lunch menu items from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.  If you really want to feel like you’re in a scene of “Palm Royale,” book a poolside meal at Swifty’s Restaurant at The Colony.

Walk and window shop on Worth Avenue

Worth Avenue runs through Palm Beach, from Lake Worth Lagoon, to the Atlantic Ocean, is only steps from The Colony and boasts around a half mile of luxury storefronts, art galleries and upscale al fresco dining (one of Martha Stewart’s favorite places to eat in Palm Beach is on Worth Avenue).

Worth Avenue hosts a historic walking tour every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m . According to Islands.com, the tour focuses on Worth Avenue’s impact on fashion in Palm Beach, which is heavily reflected in “Palm Royale.”

An Idyll on the Shores of a Toxic Lake

  • March 29, 2024

There are two ways to experience the town of Bombay Beach, Calif., as a visitor: gawk at the spectacle or fall into the vortex. Thousands of tourists cruise through each year, often without getting out of their cars, to see decaying art installations left over from an annual mid-March gathering of artists, photographers and documentarians known jokingly as the Bombay Beach Biennale. When I went to the town for the first time in 2021, I was looking for salvation in this weird desert town on the Salton Sea south of Palm Springs and Joshua Tree National Park. I dropped in, felt vibes and left with stories. I stared at the eccentric large-scale art, posted photos on Instagram of ruin porn and a hot pink sign on the beach that said, “If you’re stuck, call Kim.” I posed in front of a mountain of painted televisions, swung on a swing over the edge of the lake’s retreating shoreline and explored the half-buried, rusted-out cars that make up an abandoned ersatz drive-in movie theater. On that trip, it felt as if I were inside a “Mad Max” simulation, but I was only scratching the surface of the town.

I returned in December to try to understand why Bombay Beach remains so compelling, especially as extreme weather — heat, hurricanes and drought — and pollution wreak ever more intense havoc on it. Summer temperatures can reach 120 degrees Fahrenheit, tremors from the San Andreas Fault strike regularly, bomb testing from nearby military facilities can be heard and felt, and the air is so toxic from pesticide use, exhaust fumes, factory emissions and dust rising from the retreating Salton Sea that one study showed asthma rates among children in the region are three times the national average. By the end of the decade, the Salton Sea, California’s largest inland body of water, at about 325 square miles, may lose three-quarters of its volume; in the past 20 years, the sea’s surface area has shrunk about 38 square miles .

But people who live in Bombay Beach stay because the town offers a tight-knit community in the midst of catastrophe. Though its residents contend with environmental adversity on a daily basis, they’re also demonstrating how to navigate the uncertain future we all face — neglect, the fight for scarce resources, destruction of home, the feeling of having no place to go. They are an example of how people can survive wild climate frontiers together.

The 250 or so town residents live in the low desert on the east shore of the Salton Sea, which formed in 1905 when the then-flush Colorado River spilled into a depression, creating a freshwater lake that became increasingly saline. There used to be fish — mullet and carp, then tilapia. In the 1950s and ’60s, the area was marketed as a tourist destination and was advertised as Palm Springs by the Sea. More tourists visited Bombay Beach than Yosemite. There were yacht clubs, boat races and water skiing. It became a celebrity magnet: Frank Sinatra hung out there; so did the Beach Boys and Sonny and Cher.

Eventually, as agricultural runoff kept accumulating in a body of water with no drainage, it became toxic and created a lake with salinity that is now 50 percent greater than that of the ocean. In the 1980s, dead fish washed up on the sand, car ruins rusted in the sun, tires rotted on the shore. Tourism vanished. But some in the community hung on. One way to define Bombay Beach is through environmental disaster, but another way is as an example of how to live through disaster and how to live in general.

A man places his hands on a shoulder of another man on a bench as a woman looks on near the Salton Sea.

Candace Youngberg, a town council member and a bartender at the Ski Inn, remembers a very different Bombay Beach. When she was growing up in the 1980s, she’d ride bikes with neighborhood children and run from yard to yard in a pack because there were no fences. But over time, the town changed. With each passing year, she watched necessities disappear. Now there’s no gas station, no laundromat, no hardware store. Fresh produce is hard to come by. A trailer that was devoted to medical care shut down. In 2021, 60.9 percent of Bombay Beach residents lived below the poverty line, compared with the national average of 12.6 percent.

As painful as it was to witness the town of her youth disappear and as deep as the problems there go, Ms. Youngberg admits that adversity bonded those who stayed. She wanted to return Bombay Beach to the version of the town she remembered, to recreate a beautiful place to live year-round, not just in winter, not just during the art season, not just for the tourists posing in front of wreckage. She wanted people to see the homes, the town, the community that once thrived thrive again. With the art came attention and the potential for more resources. She got on the Bombay Beach Community Services District, a town council, and started to work toward improvements like fixing the roads and planting trees to improve air quality.

It might just be that Bombay Beach is a small town, but when I visited last winter, there was something that felt more collaborative, as though everybody’s lives and business and projects overlapped. I’m not sure the community that’s there now started out as intentional, but when fragmented groups of people come together as custodians of an enigmatic space, responsible for protecting it and one another, community is inevitable. Plus, there’s only one place to socialize, one place to gossip, one place to dance out anxiety and only about two-thirds of a square mile to wander. Whether you like it or not, your neighbors are your people — a town in its purest form.

When I was there, I walked the streets with Denia Nealy, an artist who goes by Czar, and my friend Brenda Ann Kenneally, a photographer and writer, who would shout names, and people would instantly emerge. A stranger offered a handful of Tater Tots to Czar and me in a gesture that felt emblematic: Of course a complete stranger on an electric unicycle would cruise by and share nourishment. I was given a butterfly on a stick, which I carried around like a magic wand because that seemed appropriate and necessary. I was told that if I saw a screaming woman walking down the street with a shiv in her hand, not to worry and not to make eye contact and she’d leave me alone; it was just Stabby. There was talk of the Alcoholics Anonymous meeting on the beach, the weekly church sermon led by Jack the preacher (who is also a plumber), a potluck lasagna gathering.

Last year Ms. Kenneally created a trash fashion show/photo series for the Biennale in which she created couture designs out of trash collected from the beach, enlisted regulars in town to model the outfits, then photographed them. (She exhibited a similar series at this year’s festival as well.) The work was a way to showcase the people and the place. Jonathan Hart, a fireworks specialist who slept on the beach, posed like a gladiator; a woman who normally rode through town with a stuffed Kermit the Frog toy strapped to her bike was wrapped in a clear tarp and crown, looking like royalty emerging from the Salton Sea. The environment was harsh, the poses striking. Each frame straddled the line between glamour and destruction but also showcased a community’s pride in survival. Residents were undaunted by the armor of refuse; in fact, it made them stronger. The detritus, what outsiders might think of as garbage, became gorgeous. The landscape that is often described as apocalyptic became ethereal and magical. And that’s because it is.

On my second day, we went down to the docks at noon, and I found myself sitting on a floral mustard couch watching half a dozen or so people taking turns riding Jet Skis into the sun. The sun was hot, even though it was the cool season. Time felt elastic. Mr. Hart told me that he and some friends had fixed up the water scooters to give everyone in town the chance to blow off some steam, to smile a little. It had been a rough couple of months in the region. In preparation for Hurricane Hilary, which hit Mexico and the southwestern United States last August, 26 volunteers made 200 sandbags and delivered them door to door. Neighbors helped secure as many structures as possible.

Most media outlets reported that the hurricane was downgraded to a tropical storm because that’s the weather system that hit Los Angeles, but it was close to a hurricane in Bombay Beach, with winds hitting 60 miles per hour, and most properties were surrounded by water. Roofs collapsed or blew away entirely. “When faced with something like that, they were like, ‘Boom, we’re on it,’” Ms. Youngberg told me. They were together in disaster and in celebrating survival.

It reminded me of the writer Rebecca Solnit’s book “A Paradise Built in Hell,” which considers the upside to catastrophe. She finds that people rise to the occasion and oftentimes do it with joy because disaster and survival leave a wake of purposefulness, consequential work and community. Disasters require radical acts of imagination and interaction. It seemed that because Bombay Beach lived hard, surviving climate catastrophes like extreme weather on top of everyday extremes, it celebrated even harder. It seemed that in Bombay Beach there’s enough to celebrate if you just get through the day, gaze at the night sky and do it all again in the morning.

A lot of the residents who live there now arrived with trauma. Living there is its own trauma. But somehow the combination creates a place of care and physical and emotional presence. People experience life intensely, as one. It’s a town that is isolated, but in spite of a loneliness epidemic, it doesn’t seem so lonely to be there. I felt unexpected joy in what, from everything I’d read from afar, was a place that might as well have been sinking into the earth. I felt so safe and so happy that if we had sunk into the earth together, it wouldn’t have felt like such a bad way to go.

On my last night in Bombay Beach, I went to the Ski Inn, a bar that serves as the center of all social activity. I’d been in town for only two days, and yet it felt as if I’d been to the Ski Inn a million times, as if I already knew everyone and they knew me. A band was playing, we danced and drank, and I forgot about the 8 p.m. kitchen cutoff. The chef apologized, but he’d been working since 11:45 a.m. and had already cleaned the grill and fryer. He’d saved one mac and cheese for the bartender, and when she heard I hadn’t eaten, she offered to split it with me, not wanting me to go hungry or leave without having tried the mac and cheese.

Bombay Beach is a weird place. And this was an especially weird feeling. I had been instantly welcomed into the fold of community and cared for, even though I was a stranger in a very strange land.

I realized I didn’t want to leave. There were lessons there — how to live with joy and purpose in the face of certain catastrophe, how to exist in the present without the ever presence of doom. Next time, I thought, I’d stay longer, maybe forever, and actually ride a Jet Ski.

Palm Beach's private Tarpon Island with asking price of $187.5M is under contract, MLS shows

With its rebuilt and expanded mansion, private tarpon island is under contract in the estate section, according to the palm beach beach board of realtors multiple listing service..

Palm Beach’s only private island and its renovated-on-speculation mansion is under contract with an asking price of $187.5 million, according to a sales listing updated Monday in the multiple listing service.

The property at 10 Tarpon Isle is the most expensive house for sale in Palm Beach.

There’s no word yet on the buyer, the amount to change hands or when the sale will close.

The Palm Beach Daily News is the first media outlet to report the so-called “pending” status of the property in the MLS.

Affording panoramic views of the Lake Worth Lagoon and Intracoastal Waterway, the artificial island in the Estate Section measures about 2.3 acres with a combined 1,163 feet of waterfront on all four sides. A picturesque bridge connects the island to Tarpon Way, which leads to the rest of Palm Beach via Tarpon Way and Island Road.

The 11-bedroom, two-story mansion has 28,618 total square feet of living space, inside and out, and a long list of amenities, including a 98-foot lakefront swimming pool with a whirlpool spa and a "cold plunge" pool.

The property was redeveloped by Palm Beach and Miami developer Todd Michael Glaser with two real estate investors, Jonathan Fryd of Fryd Properties in Miami and developer Scott Robins of Scott Robins Cos. in Miami Beach.

Glaser declined to comment, citing a confidentiality agreement. But he previously told the Palm Beach Daily News that Tarpon Island's location is truly one of a kind.

“It has its own bridge. How many houses in Palm Beach have a bridge? None,” Glaser said in a December article about the house .

The estate comprises the new main residence on the west side of Tarpon Island. The original 1937 house was converted into a guest pavilion and includes an ultra-luxury fitness-and-beauty area.

Among the estate’s other features are a five-car garage and one of the town’s only lighted tennis courts. Other amenities include a paneled library; a home gym; and an entertainment room with a fireplace, wine storage, billiards area and movie lounge.

Fryd and Robins have invested in other Glaser-controlled projects in Palm Beach and Miami-Dade County, where the developer built his career before turning his attention to buying, renovating and selling homes in Palm Beach several years ago. Glaser's eponymous company has offices in Miami Beach and Palm Beach.

Tarpon Island set a town lakefront price record when the developers bought the property and its original house for $85 million in July 2021 from its longtime owners, private investor William Toll and his wife, Eileen.

In October 2021, the property was listed at $125 million for the land and renovation plans for the original house. At the same time, the property also was listed then at a pre-construction price of $210 million, which would have included the renovated house.

The price was later raised to $218 million while still in construction, before dropping to $187.5 million in November .

Agents Suzanne Frisbie of the Corcoran Group and Chris Leavitt of Douglas Elliman Real Estate hold the listing. Broker Christian Angle of Christian Angle Real Estate also is involved on the sellers’ side.

Frisbie, Leavitt and Angle declined to comment.

Agent Margit Brandt of Premier Estate Properties is on the buyer’s side of the sale, according to people familiar with the transaction. She also declined to comment.

The Palm Beach Daily News was unable to confirm if any other real estate agents or agencies are involved in the pending sale.

The renovation-and-expansion project  transformed the island’s original Bermuda-style house — designed in 1937 by noted Palm Beach architect Howard Major  — into a guesthouse. A new, much-larger addition for the main living areas was built onto it in a similar architectural style.

“We flip-flopped the house. You can’t tell where one house started and the other began,” Glaser said in December.

Into the repurposed guesthouse went VIP guest suites, the spa area with its sauna and steam room, a hair-styling salon and staff quarters.

The guesthouse nearly abuts the east property line. “So when you are in the gym, you feel like you are on a yacht,” Glaser said previously.

The new addition to the west houses the main living areas, most of the bedroom suites and the garage. An air-conditioned octagonal tennis-and-dining pavilion, rising two stories, is attached to the house and overlooks the tennis court on the far west side of the property.

Windows, patios, terraces and the dock on the south side of the house afford views straight down the Intracoastal Waterway for a little more than a mile to the Southern Boulevard Bridge, past former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club. The views also include Everglades Island to the west and Palm Beach’s Estate Section to the east.

Architect Roger Janssen of Dailey Janssen Architects drew up the plans for the Tarpon Island project. Christopher Cawley Landscape Architecture designed the grounds. The interior finishes were chosen by Glaser’s wife, interior decorator Kim Glaser.

When the property changed hands in 2021, Frisbie represented the buyers, negotiating opposing agent Jim McCann of Premier Estate Properties, who acted on behalf of the Tolls. Agent Adam McPherson of Douglas Elliman Real Estate also played a role in that off-market sale. The transaction set a new town  sale-price record  at the time for a lakefront property without additional ocean frontage, according to sales documented at the Palm Beach County Courthouse.
