Amels and Damen Yachting deliver Synthesis

The 74m yacht is from the successful amels 242 limited editions range….

The team at Amels and Damen Yachting has marked the start of 2021 with the delivery of the Amels 242 Synthesis . The 74m Amels Limited Editions design, which features a number of layout customisations, departed the Damen Yachting Vlissingen City shipyard in the Netherlands on 4 January. Her planned itinerary is based around an extensive cruising schedule which will take the superyacht worldwide.

Synthesis stems from the successful Amels 242 Limited Editions range. Her experienced owner is a repeat Amels client and has customised this yacht to meet their personal requirements. She features a dedicated owner's deck with foredeck jacuzzi and there is a significant focus on blending the interior into the exterior throughout, with unique dining and entertaining layouts on multiple decks that move away from the more traditional configurations. There is a large aft deck swimming pool and the lower deck wellness spa continues this play on the indoor-outdoor with direct access to the swim platform for guests. 

“It has been a wonderful experience to welcome back our client and to see them incorporate so many personal touches to his Amels 242,” says Rose Damen, managing director of Damen Yachting. “It is a fantastic example of what our Limited Editions concept is all about: owners being able to benefit from the existing and proven platform whilst still having the freedom to customise to meet their own specific yachting needs and still receive delivery within 12 months.”   

Synthesis ’ Captain James Griffiths joined the project in spring last year, forming part of the team overseeing the build on behalf of the owner. “This has been my first new-build Amels project – the previous projects I have been involved with at the Damen Yachting shipyard have been refits,” he explains. “As always, the experience has been great and the cooperation with the shipyard, project manager and his team has gone very well. It is fantastic to see such an amazing product come together after what hasn’t been the easiest of times given the global circumstances.”

With a gross tonnage of 1,790,  Synthesis  accommodates 12 guests in six cabins with 19 crew. The yacht’s garage holds two nine-metre luxury tenders and the bridge deck aft features a helipad.  As with all Amels Limited Editions,  Synthesis  benefits from the proven naval architecture by Damen Yachting. Her exterior bears the unmistakable signature of Tim Heywood and she features bespoke interiors by Winch Design.  International yacht brokerage specialists Torrance Yachts advised the client and managed the build on his behalf. 

Synthesis  is the fifth Amels 242 to be delivered and also marks the 40th Limited Editions yacht to be delivered since 2005. Damen Yachting’s business model of upfront investment in engineering and construction, while maximising customisation and evolution, represents a good balance between full custom and semi-custom and reduces delivery time from several years to as little as a few months.

74m SYNTHESIS is a limited edition luxury yacht, built in 2020 by Amels, and featuring exterior design by Tim Heywood and incredible interiors by Winch Design. This large super yacht is the epitome of luxury, with three hot tubs across her various decks, plus swimming pool and lavish Owner’s suite. She sleeps 12 guests across 6 generously proportioned cabins, and has a dedicated crew of 19.

This spectacular super yacht features a raft of outdoor spaces to enjoy time with friends and family. On the main deck, the standout feature is the well-proportioned swimming pool. The pool is 6.7m long, 3.4m wide, 1.25m deep and comes complete with counter-current jets for ‘lap’ swimming. The surrounding space is filled with a variety of couches, sun loungers and convenient coffee tables, making this the ideal spot to relax in the sun.

The swimming platform below offers easy access to the sea and water toys.

Above on the middle deck is the main outdoors dining area. This space is sheltered by the deck overhand above, providing guests with a comfortable place for al fresco dining.

The spacious upper deck above features a hot tub, with a variety of couches, loungers and tables. A to port stairwell leads to the top level, where another hot tub is positioned, surrounded by sun pads for soaking up the sun. This area’s elevated position provides incredible views of the surrounding area.

Amidships on the main deck is shipyard Amel’s award-winning, 75 square-metre wellness centre. This incredible centre can be configured to include a variety of wellness and relaxation options, including jacuzzi, hammam, sauna with outside window, gym, massage or beauty, shower and day head, inboard wet space, fully drained, with a sofa and juice bar. The wellness centre also features a unique, foldable sea terrace. This terrace folds down on the starboard side of the vessel, providing yet another outdoors enjoyment area as well as direct access to the ocean. There is also an external stairwell to connect the sea terrace to the main deck and swimming pool.

As well as the wellness centre, the main deck also features beautiful living and dining areas, with glass windbreakers ensuring uninterrupted ocean views

Above the main deck is the dedicated Owner’s Deck. This deck holds the incredible Owner’s suite forward, an amidships office and lounge area, which connects to the aft deck dining space.

SYNTHESIS Specifications

She can reach a top speed of 16.5 knots and has a nautical range of 5,000 miles at 12.5 knots.

Yacht Accommodation

The accommodation is for 12 guests across 6 cabins, which consist of: 1 Owner’s suite, 2 VIP cabins, and 3 double cabins which can be configured as either double or twins. The luxurious Owner’s suite resides forward of the dedicated Owner’s deck. From this forward-facing stateroom, port and starboard doors lead to the secluded Owner’s deck, which features a jacuzzi and sunbeds. This private area is invisible to the wheelhouse above, providing guests with an ideal spot for restful moments of privacy. Inside, the suite features a king-sized bed, his and hers ensuites and dressing area, and tasteful décor throughout. Amidships is an office area and lounge, which connect to the aft deck and dining area. Below on the main deck are two generously sized VIP cabins, and on the lower deck are the remaining 3 cabins. An experienced crew of 19 will provide guests with a five star experience.

The 74m/242'9" motor yacht 'Avanti' was built by Amels in the Netherlands. Her interior is styled by British designer design house Winch Design and she was delivered to her owner in February 2022. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Tim Heywood Design.

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3516E) 2,855hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 12 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 16 knots with a range of up to 5,000 nautical miles from her 175,000 litre fuel tanks at 12 knots. Avanti features at-anchor stabilizers providing exceptional comfort levels. Her water tanks store around 39,000 Litres of fresh water. She was built to Lloyds Register ✠ 100A1 SSC Yacht, Mono, G6 ✠ LMC, UMS classification society rules.

74m Amels 242 Arrives in Holland Following Sale

A new Amels 242 superyacht hull has arrived at the Amels and Damen Yachting shipyard in the Netherlands for outfitting. Sold at the end of 2020 with Imperial representing the Owner, the new 74m Limited Editions yacht will be delivered in spring 2022.

Imperial will supervise construction throughout the completion of the build, including a wide range of custom features specified by the Owner. The project is the tenth yacht project to be built in collaboration with Imperial since 2009.

“Project Amels 24207 is the second superyacht signed with Amels and Damen Yachting that we have successfully completed all technical and legal details during this pandemic period,” said Julia Stewart, Imperial Director. “This great achievement is the result of hard work, dedication and attention to all details with our esteemed partners at Amels, Damen Yachting, Tim Heywood and Winch Design studios. We are excited to give life to our tenth collaboration with our very esteemed Dutch partners!”.

Damen Yachting Managing Director Rose Damen said: “We’re very proud of our Amels quality and the reputation that our Limited Editions yachts have earned. Our latest Amels 242 will have a very experienced project team to complete her. We’re looking forward to working closely with Imperial’s new-build team and her crew to ensure she is exactly as the Owner imagined when she departs the yard next year.”

The Amels 242 is the seventh from the 74-metre design in the Limited Editions range. The Tim Heywood designed yacht from the Dutch builder’s Limited Editions range will be completed with a unique interior by Winch Design .

Time for a bigger boat? Check out what the Palm Beach International Boat Show has to offer

Whether you're the son of a son of a sailor or even just love that song and want to know more, the granddaddy of all boating events is happening this weekend along the West Palm Beach waterfront.

That's right, the Palm Beach International Boat Show is back for four glorious days along Flagler Drive.

This will be the 42nd annual event, and organizers promise it will be bigger and better than ever.

There will be $1.2 billion worth of Bond-worthy super yachts, cruisers, sportfishing boats, center consoles and even inflatables to see and tour, along with attractions and activities highlighting the latest in boat engines, motors and accessories. There will also be the latest fishing gear and even fishing seminars.

Yes, it's a big event, but don't be intimidated. In fact, here are seven fun facts about the show:

How many boats can this boat show boast?

There will be more than 800 boats on display along the floating docks in the Intracoastal Waterway.

What is the biggest boat at the boat show?

With a length of 236 feet (and 38 feet wide), Casino Royale takes the title for largest boat this year. This gorgeous yacht, designed for her exterior lines by Francesco Paszkowski with interior by Paszkowski’s interior lead designer Margherita Casprini, is also one of the most technically advanced yachts in her category. Casino Royale is powered by twin Caterpillar 3516B main engines and has an impressive top speed of 17.5 knots. You can put your checkbooks away for this one, however, as she is only on display and not for sale.

This boat is the boat show's most epensive

Built in 2022 and 196-feet long, Come Together is listed for $59,950,000. This expedition yacht was delivered by the Dutch shipyard Amels and features interior styling by British designer Winch Design. It can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests in six cabins along with 14 crew members.

Are spectators allowed to go on the boats?

To go onboard the yachts and superyachts, visitors must make an appointment with the brokers. For the smaller boats, however, spectators can come onboard if they are interested in buying.

What is the smallest boat?

The smallest boat being displayed on the water is a runabout boat that is 22-feet-6-inches long, and 5-feet-11 wide. It is manufactured by Hermes.

Eating inside the boat show

The show will have dozens of food concessions featuring almost anything you could be craving, from Greek gyros to woodfired picanha, authentic street tacos and hand-crafted burgers. On a seafood diet? Enjoy fresh stone crab claws, calamari, oysters, and much more! Vegetarian, vegan, and/or gluten-free? No problem; they have options for you as well.

And libations at the boat show?

Of course there will be drinks. To be precise, there will be four bars for general admission guests, including two floating cocktail barges: the Goslings Island Bar and the Anheuser-Busch Barge. In addition there will be multiple bars in the Windward VIP Club.

74m Amels superyacht Sixth Sense captured on maiden voyage

The 74 metre Amels superyacht Sixth Sense has been pictured on her maiden voyage after being unveiled at a private launch party in London.

The yacht was captured on her maiden voyage to Gibraltar. The yacht is now underway for Antibes, according to AIS platform Marine Traffic.

It comes after the steel and aluminium superyacht was unveiled for the first time moored at Butler’s Wharf on the River Thames on July 16.

Sold in October 2018, the Limited Edition 242 yacht  Sixth Sense  features exterior design by  Tim Heywood . The owner has customised the interior to his own taste.

Sixth Sense is set to be used for world cruising and features a 1,787 GT interior. An elongated aft deck, luxury exterior spaces and a light and airy volume are key features.

Accommodation on board is for 12 guests and includes a private 374 square metre owner’s deck with a forward-facing stateroom and full-beam wellness and spa area.

A large infinity pool sits on the main deck while the sun deck features a hot tub surrounded by sunpads. A touch-and-go helipad sits on the bridge deck.

Speaking at the time of the yacht’s sale, an Amels spokesperson said the yacht would show “a different character” to previous Limited Editions deliveries.

They added: "The ability to adapt the proven platform to the client’s wishes is why our Limited Editions approach is working so well. The extremely comfortable and quiet platform with a renowned level of quality and combined with a fast delivery creates a very attractive proposition.”
