Sailing with Amelia Angler

Without a doubt , Amelia Island offers some of the best sailing waters in the world! Your chartered sail begins at the historical Fernandina Harbor Marina where old country sailboats visited the new country and traded their goods. Sailing north on the pristine Amelia River, your sailing charter will visit uninhabited marsh islands where a multitude of sea life can be seen, including white pelicans, manatees and dolphin.

Sailing with Amelia Angler

The Amelia River soon widens, greeting Cumberland Sound where its wide expanses give sailors the feeling of ocean sailing. And with good reason, here sailors have their choice of sailing out into the Atlantic Ocean, or continuing their sail north to Cumberland Island. A full 8-hour sailing charter is recommended for the ocean sail, where sailors can sail just off the beaches of Cumberland and Amelia Islands.

Boat tours include sightseeing, inshore fishing trips, birdwatching, and ecotours. Amelia Island, Fernandina Beach St. Marys

I grew up in South GA/North FL & have been on the surrounding water my entire life.  From boating & fishing on the St. Marys River to enjoying the marshes and beaches of the area.  As a result of my love of being on the water, I pursued my USCG Captain's license in 2011.  I also attained a BAEd from the University of North Florida in 1996.  The challenge of analyzing all of the variables on any given day and putting together a successful charter trip whether it be sightseeing or fishing is something that I truly love.  Since 2015, I have also served in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary as a Coxswain conducting marine safety patrols.

In 2002, I became an above knee amputee as a result of a bone infection in my left knee.  Despite being confronted with physical  challenges, I have continued to participate in water sports, & outdoor activities.  As an amputee, I have enjoyed waterskiing and fishing.  Since the amputation, I have also competed for 3 years in the FOM National Bass Tournament Trail, & as a sponsored athlete in adaptive rowing events with Brooks in Jacksonville, FL.  I founded No Limits Charters, LLC in hope of introducing people to the outdoors in my area & all it has to offer.  "No Limits" was chosen as the name of the charter service as a testament to how I approach life.

Let me introduce you to the waters of Cumberland Sound covering both South GA and North FL with all of the offerings of the area!

I am also a member of the National Association of  Charterboat Operators.

Services offered:

No Limits Charters, LLC provides guided sightseeing tours of the inland marshes and estuaries of Cumberland Sound, GA/FL.  This area has an abundance of wildlife and marine life that inhabits the waters and marshes of Cumberland Island.  Possible observable wildlife includes alligators, dolphins, a diverse population of migratory birds, and the wild horses that call Cumberland Island their home.  We offer dolphin tours, birdwatching tours, ecotours, and general sightseeing charters in St. Marys, GA as well as Amelia Island.

All tours are guided by me, Capt. Diane Pollock.  I am licensed by the USCG and fully insured.  I have operated charters in the area since 2011.

Guided fishing charters are also offered.  These will include fishing for redfish, trout, whiting, shark, and other inland species.  When the weather permits, there will also be opportunities to fish the jetties and beaches of Cumberland Island.  The fall usually brings excellent fishing for spotted sea trout and redfish.  Spring is also a great time for catching black drum, redfish, & sheepshead.  The summer months can bring good flounder fishing and spotted sea trout along area beaches.  Sharks offer a great fight in the summer months.

Click on the different pages listed above to see the many trips offered and possibilities for each type of trip. Rates and

details of each type of trip is also just a click away above under the Rates & Fees page, including lodging with stays in the area that are eligible for a discount.  I will also gladly show you my USCG license upon departure, so that you feel totally comfortable that I am properly credentialed.

Coming soon, there will also be artwork for purchase in the shop section from myself that is inspired from actual photos that were taken in the beautiful area of the Cumberland Sound. All artwork will be done by colored pencils or either just simple grey scale pencil sketches.

Come aboard for the trip of your choice to see all that the waters of South GA and North FL has to offer!!

Sailing Amelia Island

Captain Graeme (pronounced Graham) Nichol has over 50 years sailing experience. He has sailed in everything from dinghies to 65ft keel boats. He has extensive racing experience from local club races to ocean races across the Atlantic.

Sailing Experience

Graeme’s racing experience.

  • Cape to Rio Yacht Race sailing from Cape Town, South Africa to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
  • The Governor’s Cup , sailing from Cape Town, South Africa to the island of St. Helena (St Helena is the little island in the middle of the Atlantic where Napoleon Bonaparte was first buried)
  • Numerous racing regattas off the coast of South Africa, as well as the NE of the United States, every weekend, for five years in the Long Island Sound, racing 40 ft sport boats and then locally on the St. Johns River and offshore from St. Augustine to Fernandina Beach.

Graeme’s cruising experience

  • Graeme and his wife, Nicola, with their 8 month old baby lived aboard their sail boat for 8 months, sailing from New York to Ft. Lauderdale, the Bahamas and back to New York.
  • They cruised the Long Island Sound.
  • They frequently take their sail boat on overnight to week long cruises around the Amelia Island area. Jekyll Island and St Augustine are favorite destinations.
  • Graeme has helped take a sailboat through the Panama Canal and also with deliveries down the East Coast of the US.
  • Graeme has taken his own boats down the East Coast on a number of occasions, sailing through the ICW and out at sea.

Love of Sailing

Graeme loves sailing. He started his sailing career by joining Sea Scouts as a youngster. Most of his life he has either owned a dinghy or a keel boat. He owned a Fireball for many years racing it on a weekly basis. During a stint in the military Graeme went through a Yachtmaster Ocean program with the South African Navy. Sailing SAN boats on a regular basis. Later racing for five season in Cape Town on a Farr 40. When he moved to New York Graeme crewed on sailboats in the Long Island Sound and later he bought his J30 which he raced and cruised extensively. He has now upgraded to a J40 to be able to share his love of sailing with others.

He is happiest when he can’t see land and loves long ocean crossings. Graeme is a certified US Coast Guard captain and has approximately 50,000 sea miles under his belt. He loves to teach others about the joy of sailing and how to be a better sailor, how to read the wind and how to optimize the boat.

Graeme was a management consultant for many years which led him to live in Cape Town, South Africa, New York, Amsterdam and Sydney, Australia. He continued consulting through his own company when he moved to Amelia Island but has since retired and now enjoys his passions. Graeme is also a certified flight instructor and used to teach aerobatics, bush flying and undertake tail wheel conversion training, when he lived in New Jersey.

Our Boat – SV Fin

SV Fin is a J40 sail boat . As the name implies she is 40ft in length. What 40ft means to you, is, there is lots of room to sit and relax. Whether you want to sit under the shade of the bimini or enjoy the Florida sun. There is a perfect place for you. J Boats is the manufacturer, known for great performance oriented cruisers and raceboats. SV Fin is a cruiser. SV Fin has 2 heads (or bathrooms) down below as well as comfortable seating. She has a fridge and freezer to keep your drinks cold as well as a stove to make coffee and an oven to make cookies. There is ample room below to relax and have lunch around the table.

Off the back of the boat is a swim ladder if you choose to take a dip in the ocean. She is fully equipped with all safety equipment such as life jackets, emergency positions system (EPIRB), flares, radios, both VHF and SSB.

SV Fin J40 interior Sail Amelia Relax

How did she get her name? She was called ‘Infinity’ and not wanting to offend Buzz Lightyear we decided she needed a new name. A partial removal of the name left us with Fin . We liked it! Our kids loved watching Finding Nemo and there is a part where the turtle, Crush, greets his son, Squirt, “..now give me some fin, noggin dude!!!!” with ‘Noggin’ they bump heads, followed by ‘Fin’ and they High Fin one another. Hence ‘FIN’ 🙂

now give me some fin, noggin dude!!!!

Just returned from a terrific day on the pontoon boat with 6 family members. All of us had fun, We loved Captain Scott’s info and knowledge on our island’s history including Cumberland. No boat? No problem. Here's how to get on the water even if you don't own a boat.

sailboat charter amelia island

Rhode Island, with 400 miles of coastline , is called the Ocean State, but getting on the water can be difficult, unless you own a boat, or have a good friend or relative who owns one.

Here are some tips for getting on the water without marrying into a family of boaters:

What's the best way to rent a boat in Rhode Island?

Wickford Boat Rentals has more than a dozen boats ranging from 19 to 36 feet, both power boats and sailboats. Daily and extended rentals are available.

The business requires renters to demonstrate they're qualified to handle a boat on their own. "We vet them pretty heavily," said owner David Fetherston.

Do you need training to drive a boat in RI?

For those who haven't had training, lessons are available through Wickford's In-Command Seamanship Training program. Wickford also offers charters with a "captain on board who will take you on a carefree excursion around Rhode Island’s beautiful coastline."

Rental costs vary depending on the size of the boat and the rental period. For example, smaller boats rent for about $295 for a half day and $395 for a full day. The larger boats rent for about $745 to $945. Repeat renters can get discounts by joining Wickford's Captain's Club.

Wickford Rentals also offers chartered trips aboard its Sabre 36 Express, Lorelei. The charter includes a captain and crew member and costs $1,550 plus gas for a half day, $2,250 plus gas for a full day.

Renting kayaks in Rhode Island

Kayaks require less training and boating knowledge than powerboats and sailboats. They may also provide the easiest and least expensive access to water.

Several businesses in Rhode Island offer kayak rentals. The Kayak Centre in Wickford rents several different types of kayaks, including pedal kayaks. A single recreational kayak rents for $37 for two hours and $53 for four hours. The business also rents out standup paddle boards, $42 for two hours, $58 for four hours.

The business rents kayaks out of two locations, Wickford and Charlestown. Reservations must be made in advance. The Kayak Centre also offers lessons, tours and kayak fishing.

Or, if you're in the Providence area, Providence Kayak rents single and tandem kayaks in the heart of downtown and in Lincoln Woods. Rentals start at $20 for 45 minutes.

What are boat clubs and how do you join one in RI?

Freedom Boat Club , which has six Rhode Island locations, offers an option between renting and owning. The club requires a down payment and monthly dues. The standard entry fee is $7,999, but the club often offers new-member promotions at a reduced joining fee. Monthly dues range from $349 to $429, according to Michelle Voss, a company spokeswoman.

In addition to its locations in Wakefield, North Kingstown, Warwick, Newport, Barrington and Portsmouth, Freedom Boat Club has more than 400 locations across North America, Europe and Australia.

"A major benefit to membership is that members not only have unlimited access to their home club fleet of boats, but reciprocal access to enjoy any of our locations worldwide," Voss said. "Many of our members plan their travel based on where we have locations."

Freedom requires members to pass a written exam and on-the-water training, which is covered by the membership cost.

Gondola rides in Providence offer unique sightseeing opportunities from the water

Probably the most famous and most romantic way to get on the water in Rhode Island is to take a gondola river ride with La Gondola Providence.

Owner Matthew "Marcello" Haynes has four gondolas available to take guests through downtown Providence on the Providence and Woonasquatucket rivers. Reservations aren't required but are advised, Haynes said.

La Gondola Providence offers a variety of trip types. The Sogni, the original and "still the most popular," costs $89 for two people on a 40-minute private ride. It "includes an ice bucket, glasses, and opener (BYOB), handmade Italian wine biscuits, and a little singing from your gondolier." Your gondolier would be happy to point out the sights and answer questions during the trip."

La Gondola Providence also offers half-hour trips during WaterFire that cost $299 for up to six guests.

A classic sailing cruise out of Newport is another great boating option

Another option that lets someone else do the piloting or sailing is a sightseeing trip out of Newport. Newport Classic Cruises offers rides on sailboats and a motor yacht called Rum Runner II.

The Rum Runner II was built during Prohibition for use in the rumrunner trade, according to Newport Classic Cruises. "Relive the speed and thrill of the chase of the smuggler boats from the days of Prohibition."

Trips on the Rum Runner II cost $45 for adults, $42 for seniors and $35 for children.

Newport Classic Cruises also offers charters on sailboats.

The Big Difference Between This Season’s ‘Love Island USA’ and ‘UK’ Revealed

The Big Picture

  • Love Island UK and USA have released new seasons, but the UK's love triangle drama resulting in division contrasts the USA's unity among the girls.
  • Love Island shows the importance of friendship and unity alongside romance, with the USA version showcasing supportive relationships among contestants.
  • The love triangle between Harriet, Jess, and Ronnie in the UK has caused unnecessary division, with viewers expressing disappointment in Ronnie's manipulation and treatment of the girls.

As the superb Ian Stirling would say, "Welcome back to Love Island." It's time to return to Fiji and Mallorca's beaches as new Love Island UK and Love Island USA seasons have been released. The growing dating reality show has become a fan-favorite in recent years and has created many spinoffs in different countries and new spinoffs like Love Island Games and Love Island All-Stars. Even though the dating show has not had some success with its recent winners, it has shown it can create amazing couples that have been able to last the ultimate test of the "real world." Besides creating romantic relationships, it has also created iconic friendships that many viewers have grown to love, like Kem Centinay and Chris Hughes and Kaz Kamwi and Liberty Poole, who have also experienced their friendships in the outside world and have become closer thanks to them all meeting on the show.

The friendships it has created have been able to give a middle ground for viewers not only to be invested in the romance aspect but also in who will be friends with whom. This year, though, there was a sudden shift felt on Love Island UK from the girl's side, as it has been seen that they are very against each other because of the guy they are pursuing, and it's not leaving a good taste in viewers' mouths. The villa is divided, with the recent argument between Jess White and Harriet Blackmore over Ronnie Vint. He has been making a joke out of the love triangle and embarrassing both girls by making it a joke that they are fighting over him and still trying to couple up with the bombshells. The way their fight has been handled is not given a good appearance, and their drama has overshadowed many other islanders on the show.

Love Island

In a stunning villa, a group of attractive singles lives together as they seek love and connections. Contestants must pair up and stay coupled to survive elimination rounds. Along the way, they participate in engaging challenges and games that put their relationships to the test. New islanders are regularly introduced, causing shifts in alliances and romantic interests. Viewers play a crucial role by voting for their favorite couples, with the most popular pair ultimately winning a cash prize and the title of the strongest couple.

The Harriet, Jess, and Ronnie Love Triangle Ruined This Season

On the other side of the pond, though, there has been a different and more refreshing feel. On Love Island USA , it has been how much the girls genuinely care for each other since the start. From the get-go, there were many twists and turns thanks to the addition of bombshell Liv Walker, who stepped into the show and created instant chaos by coupling up with Rob Rausch and stealing him from Leah Kateb. This recoupling immediately creates drama because Rob is stolen from Leah, but it helps them realize they like each other. After their recoupling, there was a beautiful moment between all the girls coming together for Leah because she was disappointed her connection had been taken away from her, but she had the support of the girls to bring her back up. There was an apparent unity shown from the start between the girls, and even though they knew there may be a chance they could step on each other's toes, they kept their communication open. Even on X , viewers have been speaking out about the unity between the girls. This is a big difference from UK girls constantly attacking each other.

It is common for shows like Love Island always to have love triangles . Everyone is put into a villa to "crack on" and get to know each other, and stepping on each other's toes is bound to happen. What has been different in this season of Love Island UK is how all parties have handled the love triangle between Harriet, Jess, and Ronnie. From the start, Jess and Ronnie were coupled up, and it seemed like their connection was growing, but Harriet, on the one hand, had mentioned she fancied Ronnie and wanted to get to know him. This was valid since it was still in the early days, and nobody officially closed themselves off to anyone. What has made matters worse now is that Ronnie has made a fool out of both girls and is playing with their feelings. When Ronnie was caught up with Jess, he knew Harriet was interested in him, and she even said, " Ronnie has been eye-f***ing me all day," when he was still telling Jess he wanted to be in a couple with her. Harriet also does not give Jess a heads-up on how she feels about him and decides to sneak off with him to the hideaway for a kiss without Jess knowing about it. She did not find out about it until later, worsening the situation. Both girls have been bickering back and forth about a man who does not honestly care for them, since it has been shown that his head is also easily swayed.

This Is What Tom Schwartz Learned From His Relationship With Sophia Skoro

The 'Vanderpump Rules' star is taking all lessons in stride.

The love triangle between the three has shown a clear divide between everyone in the house and has made things awkward between Jess and Harriet. In previous seasons, there have been instances in which girls would argue about men, but they have been able to come back together as friends. Still, after Harriet recoupled with Ronnie, everyone could see this was a different instance, and they could probably never become friends. In reality, they could've easily come together and even tried to dump Ronnie out of the show, which many viewers have called out for them to do . His treatment of both of them has rubbed people the wrong way, and even his saying he is open to meeting the newest bombshell, Tiffany Leighton , he has made both Harriet and Jess look like fools because their argument should've never even happened, since he was only playing with their feelings for his enjoyment. He made a joke in front of Harriet about enjoying kissing Tiffany, which was a shock to see, as he disrespected her without even considering her feelings. The main problem with who created the mega division in the villa is Ronnie, and the girls need to open their eyes to his manipulation of all of them.

Unity In The USA

However, things are very different in the bald eagle country, and viewers enjoy this version more than the original UK one. In only a few days, there had already been a recoupling that shook up the villa, but it didn't shake it enough to destroy the relationships between all the girls. With the introduction of bombshell Liv Walker, she decided to ruffle up some feathers and steal Rob Rausch from Leah Kateb, which shocked everyone, even Rob himself. I t seemed it would be an easy ride for fan favorites Rob and Leah, but Liv came in and stole Rob from her, opening her eyes to how this would not be an easy road for her. Even though Liv stole him, she was still respectful enough to talk with Leah after the recoupling to assure her that it was a tough decision, and Leah understood her position.

The unity within the girls was clear from the start, because Leah was heartbroken after the recoupling, and seeing all the girls come together for her showed how they can put their differences aside for each other. The girls who have been the most supportive of Leah have been her cast members JaNa Craig and Serena Page . They have officially named themselves the "PPG," even viewers have been rooting for the trio to find their love, whether with a guy or their loving friendship. Even after the Rob and Leah drama died down after they were able to recouple together, the PPG members still came together for each other after JaNa recoupled with Connor Newsum and Serena told Kordell Beckham they were better off as friends.

After all of this drama, viewers took to X (formerly Twitter) to sound off about how incredible the bond between the three girls has been, even though they have only been in the villa for a short user @TwoVsEvans said, "The friendship between Serena, Jana, and Leah. I love to see it." Their friendship brings familiarity with the growing friendships in the franchise, and this is something that the UK version should take note of. Even the men in this villa have been even more supportive of each other than the UK, as seen with the boys consoling Kordell after Serena ended things with him. @Realitea_TvJunk said, "The boys are making Kordell feel better while supporting Serena's decision. How can you not like this cast??" If the UK cast doesn't get their act together, they could lose viewers, meaning more viewership for the USA version.
